Daunte Culpepper to Sign 2-Year Deal in Detroit
Posted by Ken Schmidt on 11.03.2008

The former first round pick for the Minnesota Vikings has decided that pool side lounging and drinks with umbrellas in them are just not his style. Like many retired quarterbacks before him, the 31-year old former Pro-Bowler is set to return to the NFL to aid the struggling Detroit Lions (0-8).

The Lions trouble at the quarterback position stem from an injury to Jon Kitna earlier in the season leaving them to put the rest of the season on the shoulders of back-up quarterback Dan Orlovsky.

Head coach Rod Marinelli has not announced which quarterback will be the starter after Culpepper passes his physical however the struggling Lions are expected to give Culpepper the nod, especially following a thumb injury Orlovsky received in the fourth quarter of the Lions loss to the Bears on Sunday.

The Lions will look for their first win of the season Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

And with Orlovsky reportedly out for the game, guess Culpepper will get some action immediately...wonder how his skills are holding up.. .

He didn't retire by choice, you know.

No one wanted him.
