As put together by Sage Freehaven.
First, I'll offer up a bit of trivia: from the promotion's first monthly pay-per-view (Victory Road in November 2004) until Genesis in January 2009, AJ Styles had a match on every monthly pay-per-view in TNA history (in the case of Sacrifice 2008, he had two matches); this comes out to 52 matches. His streak came to an end at Against All Odds, where he did not have a match, but he did appear on the show. After Against All Odds, AJ would have a match on the next five pay-per-views, up until Hard Justice, where he not only did not have a match, but he did not appear at all, marking the first time in TNA's history that AJ Styles neither wrestled nor appeared on a monthly pay-per-view event. (This raises the number of matches AJ's competed in to 57.)
This is key, because I've got two sets of records: one is for AJ's unheard-of pay-per-view streak, and one is for the entirety of AJ's pay-per-view career up through Victory Road 2009. I'll share the records for the duration of AJ's pay-per-view streak first, then the full records.
A couple more things before I continue: during my record keeping, I counted any match that was one of the last two matches on a pay-per-view as a "main event" match; I also made it a point to count any match that wasn't a standard one-on-one match or a standard tag-team match as a gimmick match (any match with a special referee wasn't counted as a gimmick match).

~ Both ~
The following records apply to both AJ's "streak" and his entire PPV career.
Tag Team Title Match Win-Loss Record: 08 / 02 / 0 (80%)
X-Division Title Match Win-Loss Record: 05 / 05 / 0 (50%)
Tag Team Title Defense Win-Loss Record: 05 / 01 / 0 (84%)
X-Division Title Defense Win-Loss Record: 03 / 02 / 0 (60%)
World Title Defense Win-Loss Record: 00 / 01 / 0 (0%)
Shortest match: Sacrifice 2008 - AJ Styles and "Super Eric" vs. BG James and Awesome Kong (w/ Raisha Saeed) - Tag Team Match (Deuces Wild Tournament Quarterfinal) - 05:29
Shortest gimmick match: Destination X 2007 - Rhino vs. AJ Styles - Elevation X Match - 09:05
Shortest title match: Against All Odds 2008 - AJ Styles and Tomko (c) vs. BG James and Bob Armstrong - TNA World Tag Team Championship Match - 07:45
AJ's longest PPV match is also his longest gimmick match and his longest title match: the Iron Man Match against Christopher Daniels at Against All Odds 2005 for the X-Division Championship; due to the match ending at the 30 minute mark in a draw, the match went into Sudden Death overtime, which extended the match's length to 31:37. (AJ was the reigning champion going into the match and successfully defended his title.)
AJ has competed in three King of the Mountain matches, four Ultimate X matches, and four Lethal Lockdown matches during his PPV career. He has lost every King of the Mountain match he competed in, has won two Ultimate X matches, and has been on the winning side of the Lethal Lockdown match twice. |
