Woke up to a completely empty house. No sound or anything. I figured either the bombs had dropped or my wife was at work. The folks headed over to Texas yesterday and should be safely asleep in Austin as I type this. They're sure to have a fun 3 weeks away from the miserable English weather. To kickstart my Monday off (Yes!) I slapped on TNA Against All Odds 09, which turned out to be a really poor show. Probably the most mediocre TNA show I've seen in some time. I persist that TNA really need to differentiate themselves from WWE and they're just not doing it. Although seeing a Steiner Screwdriver in this day and age was pretty special. The review should drop sometime before years end.
My wife got home from a busy morning at work just as I was finishing up on the review so we kicked back and watched the Ghost Writer, a flick we'd both been interested in seeing. Its really strong, Polanski's best since the Pianist. Some of the twists and turns are a bit crap in an effort to get from A to B but it was a slick thriller. I gave it the old thumbs up.
Right afterwards I stuck on the Elephant Man just to have something playing while I scoped the 'net for a bit. But I got engrossed and ended up on the sofa watching it. I persist that John Merrick looked pretty pimpin' with that suit on.
I then settled down to proof the TNA review, which is weird because usually I like to sleep on a review but I just happened to have the time. By the time I'd finished it was almost time for the football so I stuck on a bit of Aerosmith to pass the time. 8pm rolled round pretty quick and I settled in to watch Sunderland-Everton with a 4-deck of Fursty Ferret. Cracking beer. The wide discovered you can get a free T-shirt with 16 bottle caps. Dang, now I have to drink two whole cases of it. Darn! Everton squeaked out a late draw in an exciting game where Sunderland scored a blatantly offside goal. I found myself hurling obsenity at the screen. I usually watch football with my Dad, and therefore curb the swearing somewhat, but seeing as he's out of the country I was free to wallow in my own crapulence. As the game finished I stuck on some music and hit up facebook chat to talk to some buddies of mine that'll be in town next weekend and another that's got pneumonia. Poor guy. He can't even drink! After doing a few shots with Maria I figured it was time for bed and ended what had been a quite excellent day. Makes up for the shitty weekend I had!
