Not the most productive of days this one. I got up pretty late and with no rentals I had no focus in the morning. Eventually I got around to doing the movie news column at lunchtime and getting it posted around 3pm. Damn, that's most of the day gone already! I started watching Band of Brothers and after one episode I can tell its going to be good. This was the 'Full Metal Jacket' episode where they go through their training in preparation for action. David Schwimmer nearly ruined the episode for me and I wish they'd cast someone else but his character along with Winters was effective. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
The wife had to work for a few hours at night and instead of getting a new review done I spent my time proofing an old review and reading Cracked. Oh, and I finished Brockway's book. Settled down to watch some European football and was presented with the choice of Rangers-Man U or Spurs-Werder. I figured Rangers-Man U couldn't be as bad as it was the first time because Rangers were at home. Bad fucking choice. The match sucked. Rangers hardly attacked at all and deserved to lose. Rooney's 87th minute penalty about as exciting as it got. Meanwhile Spurs put in another good showing to win 3-0.
So off to bed full of Hobgoblin having drunk four of them during the drab match. Redje lent me a Shepherd's Tale...which fills in the blanks in Shepherd Book's backstory from Firefly. Afterwards I shot him a text to say how much I hated it. Not only did it fail to fill in his background in a satisfactory manner but it created more questions than answers and didn't feel right. And the art was weak. Very poor, avoid at all costs. |
