I've been all over TV for the past few days. Checking out The Wire, Band of Brothers, My Name is Earl and the IT Crowd. All good shows, all box sets I'm working my way through. Not that IT Crowd really qualifies as a box set with 6 episodes per series. So where I am?
10 episodes into series 2 of the Wire. Only 2 episodes left in the series. Ziggy finally comes good, with his comical duck sidekick, only to go and commit two murders out of nowhere. Fuckin' Zig. The characters have gotten so, so good during series 2. And they were great in the first series. Its my favourite police show of all time.
7 episodes into Band of Brothers. I think 3 or 4 left now. It sure is depressing at times but any show that can seemingly elevate any character into a leading player at the drop of a hat has to be a good one. It helps that all this shit really happened. Lt Spiers epic sprint through an occupied German town to relay an order is the most spine-chillingly awesome moment in the series since the entire of episode 2 (which is the best war film ever made).
Finished series 1 of My Name is Earl. So good I immediately ordered series 2 off Play.com. I can't wait to get into that.
3 episodes into series 3 of IT Crowd. I was thinking it was the weakest series until episode three where Moss gets a concussion and a topless Roy gets thrown out of the building. A real showstealer. |
