Apologies for missing the past 4 or 5 days. Its not like I got really drunk and blacked out. That kind of thing doesn't happen to me. Often. Its more about work. Leading up to Christmas and just after Christmas work just totally sucks. I have to sneak anything entertaining in around it. So since last I blogged I've been checking out a few TV shows. Namely...
Big Bang Theory. Currently working through series one. Its funny and smart. I'm not sure if I can relate to the characters or not, yet. I sure know enough about nerdology to understand that there are people like this. And yet I've always fallen more between those types and the drunkards. Time will tell but I like it so far.
My Name is Earl. Ploughing through series 2. Love the show. Pissed off that it took me this long to get around to actually watching it properly. Perhaps unsuprisingly my wife likes Joy. Oh snap. I like Randy.
The Walking Dead. Having voted against it for the year end awards I thought I'd at least do it the justice of viewing the first episode; Days Gone By. And damn it, if it isn't excellent. As a stand alone it'd be strong. I'd like to see how it works its way into a series though.
As for movies I caught The Social Network for voting purposes. I digged the movie and thought the cast were great. Its not my favourite film of the year but to get anywhere close when its based on facebook and a bunch of computer nerds is amazing. David Fincher has such a keen eye for a great story.
Also Toy Story 3. I didn't like it as much as some but it delivered as a third part in a trilogy, which is rare. Especially with the huge hype coming in. It just didn't have quite so many moments like the first two films but it was a satisfying film and a worthy conclusion.
Also The Town. Another solid effort from Ben Affleck as a director. Who saw that coming? Gone Baby Gone is officially not a fluke and Affleck avoids the sophomore jinx by going the 'Heat' way. Jeremy Renner is good but I thought Affleck did really well with his material. Well played, sir.
I also caught "It's a Trap" the third and hopefully final Family Guy Star Wars episode. Both of the first two were great. This one was patchy. Yeah, it was laugh out loud funny 5 or 6 times but some of the stuff in between was pretty weak. |
