Having discovered the joy of 'watching stuff on the internet' I invested in a 25 inch monitor in the post Xmas sales. Money well spent. My first hours with my new toy were spent watching Scott Pilgrim Vs the World, which I really enjoyed. The books are a great read and the movie captures everything that's good about them. I consider myself a fan, albeit a bit of a Johnny Come Lately. So I'm happy it turned out so good. True they had to drop a lot of the plot and I'm sure Envy Adams lost like 90% of her storyline arc but what was left was hugely entertaining. But then I should expect such excellence from Edgar Wright. He's not disappointed me so far.
Catching up on some TV this morning. First two episodes of The Wire series three. Finishing up disc two of season one of Arrested Development. I'm somewhat behind on my TV shows. Love both shows and AD is getting really fucking good now. Carl Weathers is magnificent. As soon as he showed up I was marking out and he just gets better and better. Another episode of Big Bang Theory down too and Sheldon is swiftly becoming one of my favourite characters on TV. His intricate lie to avoid having to listen to Penny singing made for 20 awesome minutes of TV. Sooner or later I'm bound to catch onto a show somewhere near the start instead of being told by dozens of people how good it is first. |
