Welcome to my blog, peeps. You know how noobs calling in radio shows would often say "long time listener, first time caller"? Well, apply something similar here as well. I don't know how often people read the blogs on this site, but I figured if there was at least one person reading my blog, then I guess that's ok. I think.
A little history about myself. Unlike most, I didn't have the pleasure of growing up watching sports. Both my parents came from Mexico (but I was born in Sacramento) and the only sport they loved was soccer (not that big of a thing around in the States, so I heard). It wasn't until high school that I really started to get into sports, most specifically basketball and football. I started watching the Sacramento Kings in the year before they traded for Chris Webber and became a fan ever since. I like most northern California teams, which includes the 49ers, the San Francisco Giants, and San Jose Sharks. Hate the Raiders, Lakers, and everything Dallas. All the them = fecal matter.
Went to the University of California, Davis and graduated with a degree in Film Studies in 2006. I always had an interest in writing (writing essays was much easier over studying) and took film studies to express that role. After college, I used my writing experience to write basketball articles for one of my favorite sites, Kingstalk.com. Now I'm using my skills for 411mania and I am glad to be on the team.
For a first post, not bad. Hope you enjoy "On the Sidelines", my new column about the crazy sport known as the NBA.
