Cleveland gets Mo Williams
      #6160880 - 08/13/08 07:41 PM

Finally, a quality player. For those who don't get to see many Bucks games on
TV, Mo is a great player. He can put up 17+ at a really high %, gets a lot of
assists, is great from the FT line, etc. He's the SCORING guard they need.
All they had to do was give up Damon Jones and Joe smith.

Also, Milwaukee might be really good next year. Redd, RJ and Bogut are a diverse trio.

I think this was an excellent trade for all teams involved. Milwaukee gets some good help, OKC gets some veteran leadership, and Cleveland finally gets a quality point guard.

hello all,
Finally a trade that works in the team's favor?? How sweet is that?!!!

It looks like it was a six player trade involving three teams, will everyone benefit so you think?

As a Cavs fan, I couldn't be more excited about the trade. Damon Jones barely played, and while Joe Smith was effective as our backup PF, he was still a 33 year old role player.

Mo Williams does have some flaws. He isn't a good defender (although the Cavs have a good defensive system and were able to get away with Wally Szczerbiak defending Caron Butler and Ray Allen in the playoffs), he's been injury prone, and he isn't the kind of pure point guard his stats would indicate.

That said, Mo Williams is an excellent offensive player. 48% from the field, 38.5% from threes, and 85.6% from the foul line. He's good at getting into the lane and he's got a great midrange jumper. He's also a plus rebounder for his size and position averaging over 4 a game the last two years combined.

Mo fills two key needs for the Cavs and their PG situation. He's good enough with the ball in his hands to take some playmaking duties off LeBron during the course of the game. Then late in the game when LeBron has the ball in his hands as the primary creator, Mo is good enough off the ball as a scorer to still be effective when the Cavs are running their isolation stuff.
