I don't know about a White Lantern. That just seems way too obvious. It seems like Hal (who else?) is being set up as the White Lantern, seeing as he has held a green, blue, red, orange, and yellow ring, and he's been inside at least two people that have been Star Sapphires. Yeah, if you combine the rainbow spectrum of light, you get white light, but it looks way too obvious to have the White Lantern come in and save the day.

I'm not even done with the issue, but I had to pause and comment on Salaak bitchslapping all the Alpha Lanterns. I doubt this has ever been said before, but I was marking like a mother fucker for Salaak.

I'm not sure I get the Alpha Lanterns at this point. They made sense as a plot device for a while, but this? I don't see the power-grabbing part of being a mindless law-drone.

I didn't see it so much as "We want to be in charge!" power-grab, as much as, like, the hall monitor trying to act like he's in charge when the teacher has to leave the classroom. It didn't seem like a sinister attempt at taking over the Corps, but just a mindless assumption that the Guardians want them in charge.

Blackest Night #3 is out, and the awesome continues. We've moved out of the 'build up' phase, and are solidly into the 'shit is going down' phase. The appearance of the Indigo Lanterns was badass, and it was great to see Ray Palmer get some recognition for all the shit he's been through the past 5 or so years. BL Ralph and Sue were straight up evil in the issue.

If there was any doubt about Hal eventually becoming the White Lantern, I think that all doubt has now been washed away with Indigo's explanation of how to "kill" a Black Lantern.

And Copperhead is back. No real reason, but I fucking love Copperhead.

Just thought about something in regards to the White Lantern.

Rather than have Hal actually use all the rings, what if he just has to be the one to round up the other 'leaders' of the other Corps (Corpses?). It would be lame to see Hal yielding one of each ring, blasting away at Black Lanterns and their mastermind. However, it would be awesome to see Hal, Sinestro, Atrocitus, Agent Orange, Saint Walker, Carol, and Indigo standing shoulder to shoulder and rocking Nekron's world.

It was possibly foreshadowed when Hal did his little "look into the future thing" where he was begging Sinestro for some kind of help.

Wasn't it Sinestro that was asking Hal for help? I could be wrong.

Anyways, this series continues to kick all forms of ass. I was quite pleased that we finally got the Indigo Lanterns entering the picture, and by all accounts it does appear that we're heading towards a White Lantern.

Next issue: Power levels 100%

If they're at 56% now, I'm guessing that we'll be seeing plenty of other lanterns bite the dust over the next month.

The issue was good, though not up to the standards of the first two. The exposition slowed it down; necessary as it was.

Loved it. I've been waiting for the rings to invade the JLA morgue since it was shown. Max Lord with the screwed up neck was great.

And I don't know jack about Firestorm but that was a pretty emotional scene.

agreed

I know little about the original Firestorm and nothing about the current one, but I found myself getting emotional during that scene.

Not sure about Jason, but Ronnie could effect organic matter, it was just dangerous and potentially lethal to the matter being effected. Since BL Ronnie was trying to kill Gehenna, it works.

Firestorm has got to know the science of it. He needs to know what chemical compound he's starting with, and what to end with. He can't just say "I need water." HE has to actually put together hydrogen and oxygen.

Firestorm killing Gen was just downright creepy. The White Lanterns has been coming since day one, nice we get out of the way early. I really love this story. Green Lantern Corp was pretty bad ass as well with the Alphas getting their marching orders and Kyle out thinking Black Lantern Jade. So far so great.

No, you won't miss much. You can follow the main book alone anr probably be just fine. If you could only pick two books, I'd grab the main BN book and Green Lantern. Everything else is just icing, and again, so far, nothing related to Blackest Night has been anything less than "good".

I marked HARD for the Sinestro-Mongul fight from that issue. Sinestro pretty much taking over the hunt for the Black Lanterns was awesome.

The Nazi armbands that the Sinestro Corps members wear now is a great touch.

Finally, got to read Titans #2 and #3, GL #47 plus Blackest Night #4. Thank God, they finally figured out how to stop the Black Lanterns without the rings. It was nice to see a callback to the Titans stuff in Blackest Night #4. I was a bit disappointed that Abun Sur and his sister were taken out very early, but with the end of last of Blackest Night and Green Lantern Corp, I can see why. This reminds me of Civil War where everything was awesome til the end. I expect Johns not to make that mistake. That being said, I am not loving how we are having Blackest Night Flash, Wonder Woman and others on the way.

Holy shit, that's a badass War Machine cover.

I don't think there is a reason to worry about a 'Civil War' kind of ending with 'Blackest Night'. You've got the freaking God of Death and his army of undead superheroes and super villains against a coalition of ring-slinging badasses, including Sinestro, Atrocitus, and Larfleeze, AKA the greatest comic book character of all time. How can you fuck that up?

Besides that whole being friends things, I'm sure Rhodes knows Tony is a lot smarter than him, and created the armor he wears. Tony is known for taking safety precautions.

At the first sign of Rhodes turning on him, Tony would probably cut the suits power externally.

Over on the Comic Book Resources forums, people are PISSED. I'll be shocked if Kyle is still dead at the end of Blackest Night, much less three years from now. I am happy that Kilowog seems to have been spared. I was pretty worried he was going to bite it.
