NERDGASM!
I love the Deus Ex series, and am still absolutely pissed that Deus Ex 2 doesn't play on my 360, while Barbie: Horse Adventures - Wild Horse Rescue does.

Evidence has emerged that Warren Spector's Junction Point Studios is working on a game codenamed "Epic Mickey" for the Wii, offering a dark, steampunk-style take on Mickey Mouse and the Magic Kingdom.
Most of the evidence comes from the rumour-hunter's faithful friend - concept artists' websites - and appears to corroborate a Gamasutra report from late last year that first identified the "Epic Mickey" codename.
Tireless digger Superannuation has turned up the website of concept artist Tony Pulham, whose resumé reveals he recently joined Junction Point to work on "Epic Mickey", and identifies it as a Wii game.
Another Superannuation post unearthed some beautiful concepts for "Epic Mickey" on the website of artist Fred Gambino. Pictures show the Mickey Mouse ears adorning a gigantic, crumbling paddle-steamer, the spires of the Magic Kingdom castle perched atop a twisted tower of rock, and a semi-mechanical "Zombie Goofey" [sic].
Meanwhile, a poster on the NeoGAF forum has found what appear to be the same concepts described in the original Gamasutra report, showing more distorted, nightmarish, mechanical versions of classic Disney characters, including the Seven Dwarves. They come from the artist Gary Glover's site.
Disney Interactive Studios bought Junction Point - which Deus Ex mastermind Spector formed with several other Ion Storm alumni - two years ago. Not long after, it was rumoured - notably in American gaming magazine EGM - that Spector was working on a Mickey Mouse platform game intended to rival Mario.
Last year, Spector said that he was "tired of making games about guys in black leather carrying guns" and that "100-hour games are on the way out". He also revealed that Disney Feature Animation and Pixar were collaborating on Junction Point's game.
And there's more. In an archived Edge interview from E3 2006 - before the Disney acquisition - Spector said: "I want to do a cartoon game really bad - well, really good. People don't realise that I did my Masters thesis on Warner Brothers cartoons, you know - I used to teach animation classes, I've been a Disney stockholder since I was 19. I'm a cartoon freak, I've met a bunch of the old WB directors, and did Toon, the cartoon [pen-and-paper] RPG… And I've been trying to get somebody to let me do a cartoon game for the entire time I’ve been in the videogame business."
In that same interview, Spector even alluded to a project that sounds an awful lot like "Epic Mickey". "I did some concept work on a license with a media company that was very cartoony, and boy, we did some great work," he said. "It was the most fun I've had in a long time, maybe since Deus Ex. The work was phenomenal, and I'll never be able to show it or talk about it with anybody. But hopefully the project will happen. We were gonna let people live in a cartoon world, and it was going to be wacky."
A friend of Eurogamer also once spotted Warren Spector wearing a Mickey Mouse backpack and hoodie in public. True story.
Here's hoping Spector's paymasters at Disney allow him to realise some of the extraordinary vision hinted at by those concept images, because it's mouth-watering stuff. And a long way from the Castle of Illusion...
According to Kotaku, the plot is that a bunch of lesser-known and forgotten Disney characters rise up to dethrone Mickey. It sounds insanely awesome, but I can't see Disney actually going through with it.

Shit, that *does* sound like a bad-ass storyline.

After recent concept art arose for a project dubbed "Epic Mickey", it has been revealed that the new game, developed by Warren Spector who previously brought us Deus Ex, will be a Wii exclusive and involves painting your way through levels using the Wii Remote.
Story wise it seems the game will be based around a forgotten Disney character who is looking to get their revenge on Mickey Mouse for reasons unknown. The project still remains unannounced however, so look for more details if and when Disney make it official.
See that bit in bold? That's the bit that kills my interest.

Game Informer also had a career retrospective kind of thing on Warren Spector, mentioning several times his love of animation, specifically Disney movies. It's looking like all the 'Warren Spector' is making a fucked up Disney game' rumors are pretty spot on.
Looks like the villains will be the Blot and Oswald the Rabbit. Interestingly enough, lots of people and staff had shirts with Oswald at the D23 convention.

I recently purchased an Oswald t-shirt from Disney. I find it interesting that they have seemingly dropped the "Lucky" from his name and he is just a regular rabbit.
Epic Mickey is a tale about the 'forgotten' Disney stars: the rides, the characters, the lesser-known cartoons. When nobody any longer cares, they are cast into a dark void; a forgotten world of broken machines and bitter personalities - a bit like Sid's bedroom in Toy Story, but without the friendly furnishings.
This forgotten world is run by Oswald the Rabbit. He was Disney's first creation, made long before Mickey Mouse, and his jealousy of the newcomer has fermented for years. Now, finally, Oswald is ready for revenge.
He unleashes The Phantom Blot to wipe out Mickey and his cartoon world. The Blot pollutes the Disney universe with sticky black ink that makes colours run and fade (as seen on the Game Informer cover), so it's up to Mickey to restore peace and order. And this is where his tools come in.
Mickey has to draw and scribble his way through levels, mending broken bridges by applying the right colour paint or peering through walls after applying thinner. He can even clear rubble from his path by erasing parts of the world.
Our source told us Epic Mickey is a game about thinking and artwork - laterally considering your environment in order to overcome puzzles.
On top of that is a healthy dose of exploration, plus Mickey will be getting "his first makeover in years". "That's why no one's seen his face yet," our source explained, "But he's far more retro than you've seen him for years."
Sounds interesting. But I also heard the game is not going to have any spoken dialogue, just sort of gibberish coming out of the characters mouths with the dialogue being in text at the bottom. I guess like the SNES Star Fox or Banjo Kazooie. Not sure how I feel about that, I guess it works for the game going by some of the original Disney cartoon shorts.

I have to admit the art style shown for the gameplay isn't half as cool as expected, but let's hope they are just saving the creepier, more fucked up levels for the later parts of the game.
Also, this is pretty much the first 3D platformer since Galaxy that seems to actually be worth buying.

Yeah, it is a bit of a letdown on the backgrounds. What we've seen so far just looks kinda generic. I did read somewhere that Spector said they weren't ready to show certain levels yet. I'm guessing they're saving stuff like the ruins of Disneyland and a post-apocalyptic 'Its a Small World' for shock value later.

I don't understand the complaining. this is quite obviously rough draft type material and im sure the game will be swank as hell once its more put together. This is one of the great concepts for a new third party offering for the wii and it will deliver in spade.
