I'm making a case right now that even if the Yankees win the WS, Chase Utley deserves consideration for MVP. Holy shit is he on fire!

I can see the point, as he's near single handily kept them in it.

But Series MVPs should be a pure winning team consideration.

They do it in hockey...

They've done it in the past in Baseball too. I'm saying I disagree not that they don't do it.

Chase Utley deserves a ton of props though. He's been absurdly good.

How funny was it to see an Umpire finally not let Posada get away with his stalling shit? Especially since Jorge waited until Lee had started his motion before calling for time...

I agree with the assertion that Utley should probably be MVP even if the Yanks do win. The guy he's been on fire while with the Yanks, it's been more of a team effort.

Oh, btw, A Rod now has 6 rbis in just 5 WS games. Not too shabby for a guy who is playing 'horrible'.

Game 6 should be fun.

P.S. Texiera continues to prove what a joker he is. And, this guy should be named AL MVP? Come on, now.

See, the problem we keep encountering with you is that when you put a word or phrase in quotes, it implies that someone has actually said that.

O RLY? So nobody is saying that A Rod is horrible? Come on, now. The below quote is doing just doing exactly that in the most obnoxious way possible with a lame attempt at 'fake sarcasm'.

Did he ever use the word "horrible?" No? So you're paraphrasing? Then don't use quotation marks. Quotation marks are for (wait for it) quotations.

Good point. You actually used apostrophes, which are for quotations within quotations. Congrats. You double-failed.

How appropriate it would be if they close it out tonight against Martinez.

It'd be the icing on the cake.

I agree with the consideration of Utley being the MVP. It's funny how everyone was talking about how Utley was "hiding injuries" before the WS started and he's been a machine so far.

The Phillies have shit for pitching left to offer in this series. They can't win when Cliff Lee doesn't start.

Three of the top five spenders did not make the playoffs. Including two of the top three.

Payroll whining is over rated, you're team has been spending more than most for the last decade and they've been awful.

Girardi actually showed a little personality there.

If this is Matsui's swan song with the Yankees, he went out about as good as you can. World Series MVP.

What you fail to mention is that the Yankees astronomically spend more than anyone else.

1. Yankees: $201,449,289
2. Mets: $135,773,988

Difference: $65,675,301

You really don't think there should be a salary cap?

Yours is probably more accurate. Though ESPN has been known to make some glaring errors from time to time.

http://www.getlisty.com/preview/2009-mlb-team-payrolls/

CBS Sportsline is where Alex got his, but those were preseason, the Mets made some mid season additions that added up because of all the injuries.

That came after they dished out some of the largest contracts in baseball history to Teixeira and Sabathia. Interesting.
