Blink-182 and Green Day are grunge now? Blink-182 spearheaded the whole pop/punk bullshit movement, and for that they should die in a plane crash.

Isn't this kind of like saying "Why isn't anybody making good classic rock anymore?"
The genre's tapped. It's been sucked dry. Nirvana made some good records. Try to recreate that now and you get Puddle of Mudd, Seether, Nickelback, and so on and so forth. It all rings false now. Post-grunge will die off sooner or later and then maybe someone will bring it all back and it'll sound new again.
You sound pretty young, so for now my advice is go earlier, not later. Go to your local record store, get some Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, Meat Puppets, Dinosaur Jr., Butthole Surfers, Pixies, Melvins, Minor Threat, Fugazi. That oughta tide you over for a little while at least.

yes blink and green day arent grunge. i was trying to list bands that were good in the nineties, but i was vague with my details. my bad its the radio stations and their lack of good music. i just wish they had a station somewhere around here that played nineties music. it would be awesome. and i love the pixies and the meat puppets btw.

Also, Sirius/XM satellite radio has a 90's rock/alternative station. It's pretty good. Channel 54 on XM.

Sirius has 90's on channel 9 or Lithium on 24 which is the 90s "grunge" stuff.

yes i should invest in an xm radio or satellite wtf ever its called. but i think its lame that theres not a pure 90's station on regular radio. they have 80's and faggotry music of now, and 70's stations. but no nineties. i just think its shit.

ok, what happened was essentially that grunge was a trend, a wave, a fad, a blip, once record companies were done with it - it was DONE. however - i am SURE there is an underground movement that never really stagnated where small label still release full lengths and were bands still cut demos. the underground is a beautiful thing, i am very active in the DeathMetal underground, some say that genre died in 1993 but truth be told it's with ease the strongest underground musical movement in the world, it's humongous but most people don't know because it's so underground. MAYBE it's the same for grunge (the scale will obviously be smaller since i doubt there is a such a thing as Brazilian or even Iranian grunge haha) so my advice is that if you truly love those sounds start digging deeper, get your fingers dirty and search as low as you can. go to myspace pages for the bands you like and see if a band is advertising themselves that happen to be to be to your liking, then see who their friends/influences/show/label companions are and just keep branching out further and further, don't be afraid to write to bands and snag demos either! it can be a lot of fun being active in an underground scene!

DEATHMETAL IS THE LAW!!!

Here's the thing; radio is a business. Radio is about generating revenue with advertising. Advertising is about reaching as many people as possible with your message. Why would any radio station take the business model of playing only 90s grunge music, a genre that appeals to a limited audience? That station wouldn't last very long, I guarantee it.
Satellite radio is different. All the different channels on Sirius/XM are owned by the same company and it's a pay-per-listen service.

yeah i guess youre right on that one. i actually never thought of it that way. god i hate the music of today though. theres very little actually "good" music these days, but thats just my opinion, the reason the radio stations are doing so good is because of the fanbase i guess, but, really, ew.

I have a fantastic imagination but I work in radio and therefore I know how it works. Do you think I like the status quo?
And as for there being "very little" good music these days? I'm sorry Myspace photo superstar, but you are very wrong. There is TONS of fantastic music coming out these days, you just have to expand your mind and search for music in places you may never have thought to search before. Don't only limit yourself to trying to find grunge music, look at everything.
