I've heard, rusty, washed up, and done to describe Tito Ortiz. Now I don't want anyone to miraculously talk about what a bad ass Tito is if he beats Forrest. We all know he's not.
Who's prepared to admit that Forrest Griffin was ultimately over hyped to the stars and the ufc equivalent of Sokoudjou if he loses?
Two big high profile wins. He gets alot more respect because his wins where due to hard work and dedication, as apposed to flash knock outs but in the end he's still a two hit wonder at the end of the day.
I think Tito's done, and he can't beat a real fighter. Only I really don't believe he's fighting a real fighter. He's fighting a over sized Minowa. A fighter with a ton of heart, and a couple of high profiled wins. I know Forrest Griffin has some nice foot work, and because of his size he has some grappling, but I've just never been all that impressed with him.
And as always I'm taking the time to point this out now, instead of later.

Griffin IS overrated. I've never liked the guy. I hope Tito does beat him. And he cries in the octagon again.

You're not exactly ahead of the curve here magog.
Seems like most people started hating on Griffin after the loss against Silva and subsequent run out of the cage.

And I'd say Forrest's interviews the past couple months since that loss haven't exactly done much to help his cause.

I’ve liked his interviews. He’s trying to give folks the brush-off so he doesn’t have to hear their shit when he loses. He probably didn’t believe in his own hype and was probably a little bothered that other people did. If he goes Josh Koscheck on people he doesn’t have to worry about his poster hanging in some kid’s room or being anyone’s hero. It might not be the smartest strategy in the world, but that’s his choice.

I picked Bonnar over him both times in the past soo yes, I've been hatting on Griffin before it was cool.

In the past I've compared Griffin to Guy Mezger. And looking back I still think I'm right. Guy, had he stayed in the ufc would have probrably done as well as Griffin minus the bull shit decisions he was handed in pride. Griffin has some crisp, sound striking, and a good ground game, but nothing that really you couldn't do with anyone else.
Griffin does represent hard work, heart, determination, but he's not faster, stronger, or anything that really makes him great. I just choose to beleive Griffin has been great at being in the right place at the right time.

Griffin should be a heavy favourite for this fight. I'm not sure where you get the idea that Tito after more than a year off is going to improve on a narrow decision against a fighter who has improved dramatically.
Your comparison with Sokoudjou is far from apt. His hype came because of his overwhelming power which allowed him some impressive knockout victories. anyone with that kind of power has the chance to upset someone without actually being all that good (look at Leben). Griffin fought two very complete fights against Rampage and Shogun and his losses are attributable to his chin. The only way Tito is winning this is by TKO and I don't think he's got that in him right now.

Havok, Forrest's loss to Anderson Silva is attributed to his chin?
I would have attributed that to the other guy being a better striker, faster, more talented, and an overall much better fighter, but that's just me.

All true, but losing to that jab is the chin. Silva is a top 3 LHW in my opinion and Forrest is top ten. The fight was going Silva's way but the chin sped that up.

How about saying guys have a speedy chin instead of a glass jaw? "Damn, that Forrest Griffin sure has a speedy chin, look how he got knocked out." I like it.

His consciousness is elusive!
-------------------- "The squeeze is worth the juice." - Forrest Griffin
"The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices, to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all its own -- for the children, and the children yet unborn." - Rod Serling
"Death is but crossing the world, as friends do the seas; they live in one another still. For they must needs be present, that love and live in that which is omnipresent. In this divine glass they see face to face, and their converse is free, as well as pure. This is the comfort of friends; that though they may be said to die, yet their friendship and society are, in the best sense, ever present, because immortal." - William Penn

I think if Tito has the cardio for 3 rounds he wins. I can't imagine Tito would have ass this come back fight. His names not Shogun, or Rampage.

I think Tito's stand up is awful. He just hits like a pussy. He had the right game plan standing against Liddel in their second fight, and if he could have hit like Shogun or Rampage, or Rashad, etc, etc, he might have won. I think Tito has a fairly good chance of knocking out Forrest, or laying and praying him.

Your comparison with Sokoudjou is far from apt.
Because you find Forrest Griffin more likeable.
Thus the Chris Leben no sell.
Look everyone claims that BJ Penn should have beat Matt Hughes the second time if not for his cardio. So why is it so out of line to say the same thing about Shogun and Rampage over Griffin? Oh yeah, Forrest is a fan favorite.
The only way Tito is winning this? Tito does kinda wrestle buddy. He did kind of out wrestle Rashad in one of his last fights. I think Tito in the past has been smart enough to surrond himself with the right people to help him train. If anyone can evolve, I think he can get good enough to knock out glass jaw joe.
Hell if Tyson Griffin can knock out Franca, and Mir can knock out Nog, is it that hard to beleive?
Can Griffin bounce back after his lose last time? Also keep in mind Tito's stand up was strong enough to make him go the distance with Machida. Rashad couldn't do that.
I mean if you wanna discredit me by calling Machida's bitch I'll be fine with that.
Oh and one more thing, when Forrest loses, fuck anyone who says anything about a strip throat, a steph infection, or a back injury.
Or maybe fans can dust of the old bull shit line "forrest found God and that's why he's a pussy now" I use to have to endure back in Pride when Rampage started losing.

Nothing to do with how likeable he is, they are polar opposites as fighters. Sokoudjou is a guy with massive power and no cardio, Griffin is made of Cardio and has no power.
It has nothing to do with whether I like him or not it has to do with the fact that he can put on a nice technical fight and he holds significant advantages both in stand up and the submissions game over Ortiz.

I won't be surprised to see Tito win this. We all give Tito the “what have you done (for us) lately?” treatment, but he did pretty well against the last 3 LHW champions (Griffin, Evans, Machida). He beat Griffin, tied Evans, and went the distance with Machida. That’s not too bad for someone we don’t even rank in the Top 15.
Of course those fights were all before each champion actually won the title and really can’t be used as a serious benchmark for Tito’s skills, but the fact remains he fought them all and didn’t do horribly against any of them.
I’m not getting on his bandwagon, but if he’s serious and healthy, Tito might surprise some folks.
