I kinda liked everything on the album except for the big 3 part song at the end, it just never took off the way it should have to be this supposed grand opus of Muse rock.
I completely loved the Queen rip off shit and would be perfectly fine if Muse did nothing but that.
Other than that, its the same old, same old... I can't deny Muse is a great band, yet they end up boring me more often than not.

Yeah, the "SHAH-SHAH-SHAH" part is certainly...something. It's almost like Matt decided to fuck around during one of their recording sessions and everyone found it hilarious, so they just decided to go with it.
As for the album, I like "Uprising" and "Unnatural Selection", half the rest of the tracks are okay, and the other half of shit. No doubt the live tour will still be fucking awesome though.

I think that's about right. For a band so intent on sounding like they're from a thousand years into the future, they certainly don't have a lot of new ideas, do they? Almost every verse on the entire album sounds pretty much exactly the same and the three-part "symphony" ending is just so much overwrought boring wank-rock. As usual, all they've done is get a little bit louder and a whole lot worse.
And what a crying shame "Resistance" is. The Depeche Mode dance beat at the beginning is awesome, but then comes that incredibly ill-advised "IT COULD BE WRONG" part with the Aqua gang vocals.

I think that's what disappointed me the most. If the album had finished after "You Belong To Me", the whole thing would be thumbs-in-the-middle territory, but breaking up a B-Side worthy twelve minute "symphony" into three seperate "acts" just reaks of a desperate attempt to prove they're still 'ahead of the times', or whatever gets Matt Bellamy's rocks off nowadays.

sounds like I'm the only person on these boards that loves this album... but hey I've never conformed in the music forum so why start now.
I have been waiting for Muse to go for the full opera/rock crossover and do a multi part symphony to show off Matt's genious piano and guitar playing. As a pianist I love to hear him play the piano and am convinced he could have been a top rated concert pianist playing last night of the proms etc.
I also love the blatant queen rip off as this is also something (after knights of cydonia) that I wanted them to do.
Here's hoping for them to take the 3 part sympnony idea and go for prog rock spin and do an album with only 5 songs or something all, 15 mins long 
can't wait to see them now in a few weeks.

I've only listened to the new album like twice and its nothing mind blowing but I don't see how you guys think its all that different from past albums. To me, its mostly a continuation of the same over the top symphonic rock BS with mostly boring and monotonous vocals.

Scuzz - thanks for the more grown up reponse and point taken about the gig length, I saw them in Brum on Tuesday and was very awesome but it did feel that there could have been one or two more songs to lengthen the gig a little. Perhaps something from the 1st album and something else from the 2nd one. My other gripe would be the fact they only played half of unite states of eurasia, would have loved to have seen Matt up high on the stand playing the piano part at the end. And also all three parts of Exogenesis as it is a symphony after all. then drop undislosed desires as its too R n B for Muse and probably the only weak point on the album - but as the latest single that is never going to happen.
