My Eagles skull-fucked him out of the playoffs numerous times.

Just sayin the guy is great, fucking awesome but the media coverage he gets is insane sometimes.

People naming their kids after him and feeling genuinely hurt is crazy to me. Maybe because I live in NC and our biggest sports teams are essentially college teams we don't have a MLB Baseball team so the Braves are the Defacto team here but I still can't think of anyone like that here. I hate Duke with a passion but that hate only extends in terms of sports.

I lived in Chicago for 3 years for the second Bulls Dynasty I get the love that people have for Jordan, the Bulls, the Cubs, the Bears, the White Sox. But some people went overboard with their passion.

1. Have you ever been to Green Bay? Football is literally ALL they have there. They eat, sleep and drink it. The only thing in the NFL that comes even close is central Texas' love affair with the Cowboys.

2. How many players are there that have been as synonymous with their clubs as Favre was with the Packers? Even if he wasn't one of the top five NFL quarterbacks of all-time (which he is), for a player to stay with his team for as long as he did is incredible in this day and age. Even when we were going through a really rough patch during the mid '00s, he stuck around although he was approaching the twilight of his career and probably still had another Superbowl in him if he had moved on. He showed tremendous loyalty to the team.

Now I don't subscribe to Volourn's bullshit theory that the Packers "betrayed" Favre by getting rid of him. Had he said "I'm sticking around" from the get-go, I'm sure the team would have had no problem with it, but he gracelessly put the team into a difficult position and they ended up letting him go. It was a shame it worked out that way, but it did. I don't resent him for it but I can fully understand why some people do, because he's been absolutely classless in the way he's gone about everything since leaving the Packers. He's put himself first over not only his fans, but his team as well when he was at the Jets. I honestly thought he'd ruin this Vikings team, but he's doing well and I hope he continues to do so because he's still a fucking legend.

3. I think a lot of the hate we've seen for Favre in the past two years is a reaction to the media's over-protectiveness of him during his entire tenure at Green Bay. His name was sacrosanct while he was with the Packers and once he fell from grace, everyone started to get all the hate out of their system. That's when you started hearing all these claims of "overrated" from people who weren't Vikings or Bears fans. Yes, he's always had his flaws, which were especially visible when he had a weaker team around him. He tends to force passes. Sometimes he tries to carry the team on his back and the results are disastrous. Doesn't change the fact that when he's on, he's total magic. Still is.

Overrated? With a career like his, that's hardly possible.

Thank God ESPN isn't doing THIS Vikings/Packers game. Not that the FOX guys won't get their Favre lovin' in but I wouldn't be able to take another 3 hours of Tirico, Jaworski and Gruden sucking Favre off every 3 minutes. Not to mention Berman, Stuart Scott and the gang on the pre and post game.

Dude that was their fullback, he'll never have a run like that again.

And McCoy just broke a 60 yard TD. You're fine.

I on the other hand am getting my ass kicked. Jay Cutler....I swear.

Oh and if anyone has Steve Slaton or Owen Daniels, I feel for ya today. Daniels out of the game hurt and Slaton was benched for fumbling again....his replacement Ryan Moats has 120 yards and 2 TD's

BWAHAHAHAHA

Russell got benched last week and Tom Cable the Raiders coach quickly came out after the game and said he'd spoken to Russell about why he came out and that he was their starter again this week.

Russell promptly threw an INT in their first drive.

He is a bigger bust than Ryan Leaf.

Well, we fizzled in the end but it sure was entertaining. Rodgers was miserable in the first half. The announcers kept saying he wasn't getting any protection but there were at least a couple sacks where he just wasn't aware of his surroundings. The worst was right at the start of the game when he rolled out of the pocket and had about fifteen yards of open field in front of him, but then he just froze. Such a frustrating first half to watch.

Good game in the end though. What a big, sloppy group therapy session that was.

Oh, please. The only ones who exposed themselves with a tenuous grasp on reality are those who kept trying to claim that Favre should retire 'cause he was no longer good enough to play.

Sure, Favre was wishy washy as far as retirement but a large part of the blame for that goes to GB management and the fans who, quite frankly, were trying to force him out. I don't beleive Favre ever really wanted to retire but people kept trying to get him gone so they could try out their new toy Rogers out as GB was done with their old toy.

What people forgot is that people aren't toys. You can't simply throw them in the trash just because YOU are done with them. Favre's problem was falling for peer pressure and not manning up and telling everyone that he wasn't gonna retire just because they wanted him to.

The fact that he finally manned up, and stop taking their crap is when he earned tons of respect from me. Screw GB fans. They're jokes as they proved today.

Hey, Rogers, you better enjoy playing in GB now.. because as soon as those GB fans are done with you, they'll begin trashing you too.

But, yeah, a guy who just threw 4TDs today should not be allowed to play in the NFL. Give me a break.

Two comments before leaving for work:

1. Brett Favre: Congrats, you did it. You came back and you beat those Packers. Now what? Look around the landscape....no one really likes you anymore. Was it worth it?

2. Jamarcus Russell is an idiot. From rotoworld:

Quote:

JaMarcus Russell said after Sunday's loss to San Diego that he was pleased with his 109-yard passing effort.

"I did a pretty good job," he said. Russell took five sacks, fumbled, threw an interception, averaged under five yards per pass attempt, and completed two passes for 16 yards to his wide receivers. He is 33rd in QB rating, tied for fifth in interceptions, and is completing 48.4% of his throws. Nov. 1 - 11:57 pm et

Oblivious.

Wait, if he's 33rd, doesn't that mean someone who isn't a starter has a better rating? That's sad.

What's worse is that he's not lower...

Oh, please. The only ones who exposed themselves with a tenuous grasp on reality are those who kept trying to claim that Favre should retire 'cause he was no longer good enough to play.

What an ironic statement with your tenuous grasp on reality, whining about something that no one who is arguing with you ever said

I thought Derek Anderson would have a lower rating to be honest. They both suck though.

I have a 47 point lead in fantasy, playing Reggie Bush against the other guy's Drew Brees. As long as Bush keeps gaining points I think I may be alright...but I'm nervous.

Huh, I guess picking up Josh Freeman for my sleeper QB wasn't such a bad decision.

Man did I have a big fantasy week in my $$ league when I needed one.

Cutler went off for 360+ & 3 TD's
Turner went off for 160+ and 2 TD's
Hell, I was disappointed in Ronnie Brown's running yardage and then I see that he THREW a TD pass lol

I'm up 117 - 34 against my opponent.

Speaking of money leagues, I'm so pissed at myself right now! I picked up two defenses this week because I knew my opponent needed to add one. Decided to start San Fran at home against the Titans over Atlanta at home against the Redskins for whatever stupid reason. Cost myself 16 points and probably on my way to a second consecutive loss unless Philly completely shuts down the Cowboys.

"The squeeze is worth the juice." - Forrest Griffin

"The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices, to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all its own -- for the children, and the children yet unborn." - Rod Serling

"Death is but crossing the world, as friends do the seas; they live in one another still. For they must needs be present, that love and live in that which is omnipresent. In this divine glass they see face to face, and their converse is free, as well as pure. This is the comfort of friends; that though they may be said to die, yet their friendship and society are, in the best sense, ever present, because immortal." - William Penn
