And we're rolling... - 01.31.2007
No, you are not dreaming. You are not high on drugs. I really HAVE posted a blog! Oh, the insanity! It's only taken me, what, 4 months? Ack, better late than never.
Alright, well my first task is to make this at least vaguely interesting. 411mania is THE site to come to if you have any interest in pop culture, so it would make sense for me to talk about that here. Obviously, you know from my column that I'm a big computer games fan (read: total and utter geek), but I don't often get the chance to talk about the other stuff that interests me. Let's kick things off with everyone's favourite sport, and mine...RASSLIN'!
First off, I'm shocked by the news that Samoa Joe is leaving ROH for good in just over a month. I feel incredibly fortunate that I will be there for Joe's final two appearances, on March 3rd and 4th at the Liverpool UK doubleshot. His match on the 3rd will be against the home countryman, Nigel McGuinness, so that should be a wild atmosphere, with half the crowd supporting the Brit, and the others showing respect to the ROH Icon. His opponent for his final ROH match is yet to be determined, and to be honest, I have absolutely no clue who it might be. Whoever it turns out to be, there's no way it'll be anything less than electric.
Onto WWE stuff, I was away at the weekend and only just got round to watching the Royal Rumble. Pretty good stuff! I found myself really enjoying the Cena/Umaga match. Cena gets a lot of flack, but he always delivers in this kind of environment, like he did in the I Quit match against JBL the other year.
The Rumble itself had its moments, but...hmmm, I kinda had a bitter taste in my mouth afterwards. I loved having the Finlay/Flair interaction, the Sabu table spot was a neat moment, CM Punk lasting over 20 minutes was great, and of course, the final stretch between Taker and Shawn was off the charts. But the whole Great Khali part really soured the match, in my opinion. The Brain Chop Of Doom is pretty funny to watch, but my God, ENOUGH WITH THE HEADBUTTS! He did about 15 headbutts in succession, and they were crappy. To top it all off, he eliminated guys left and right, including RVD, Punk, and Benoit. Why is he being pushed like this? *Tears hair out* I'm usually pretty patient with stuff on WWE TV, but Khali I draw the line at.
Alrighty then, before I have a seizure, let's move on to Music. The most recent albums I bought were:
- The Killers- Sam's Town
- The Sunshine Underground- Raise The Alarm
- The Red Hot Chilli Peppers- Stadium Arcadium.
So those three have occupied the Recently Played slot in my Ipod. I love Sam's Town, it's a brilliant album from start to finish. I was a fan of Hot Fuss, but The Killers' second album blows it out of the water in my opinion. I doubt you would have heard of the Sunshine Underground, but they're making a pretty good impression over here in the UK. And they are absolutely awesome live.
I'm gonna cut things off there, as it's got late and my bed is calling to me. But I'll get another blog up for the weekend. Yep, my blogging is like a pot of Pringles. "Once you pop, you just can't stop." Man, that slogan is dirty... |
