Dear Dany Heatley - 07.02.2009

Hey Dan, how's it going? Rod Oracheski, aka BigOilersFan, here.

Listen Dan, I know you're probably pretty confused as to the negative reaction to your refusal to be traded to the Edmonton Oilers. I mean...what did you call it? Oh yeah, you felt "blindsided" and "pressured" by the whole thing.

How could you not? I mean it's not like you had any idea the Oilers were after you, right? You're probably too busy counting the millions your contract pays you - you know, the contract you signed that said you'd play for the Senators for another four years.

And it's not like you'd talked to the Oilers about the whole thing. Wait, you did? And again after refusing to waive the no trade clause? Well that's strange.

But listen Dan, here's the biggest thing. You felt pressured - and that's not right. After all, how could you know that demanding a trade would lead to actually being...you know...traded? It's not your fault, stranger things have happened.

Like guys actually honouring their contracts and playing hockey.

You better find the next deal a bit more palatable, Dan. Believe me, as much as you didn't want to play there already, now you REALLY don't want to be playing in Ottawa next year.

Probably not in Edmonton either, for that matter.

You've got something to look forward to though. You'll be booed every single time you touch the puck in not one, but TWO different arenas next season - and possibly a fair number more than that.

Find a new deal, Dan, because your current one sucks.
