And we're rolling... - 05.29.2008

Okay, so I fell off the band wagon and forgot to do this yesterday…or the day before. I forget when I was going to do this, forgot why I was doing this, and just totally spaced. So here it is, a day late, a dollar short, and about two emotions shy of anyone caring: reader comments.

Davy had this to start out with, from last week’s second edition of the column.
NWA should take control and get rid of the ROH brand. also they need to either give bryan Danielson a manager, or get him back to the bush leauge indys! Seriously Bryan Danielson has to be the least entertaining wrester I've ever seen, most 10 year olds cut better promos, the guy has no flair or flash, and whenver he trys to get a reaction from the crowd he looks like a kid impersnating wrestling instad of being a wrestler. Pearce on the other hand is a heat getting machine, an excellent promo-man and actually looks like he's dangerous in the ring.

NWA should be the most prestigious title in the world, and if they built up a main roster of their best guys, Peare, X-Pac, Some of the Luchadors, Damien Wayne (He's my state's champ so he gets extra points) Mike Dibiasie, and such and toured them and sold their DVDs, they might be able to build up some capital. Instead theyre stuck with ROH.

Ring of Honor isn't marketable anymore because it's so mark tainted. Casual fans know that it's going to be these displays of technical brilliance that they probably wont care about because these guys are runts who are fighting for their own title that has no history or prestige. and ROH guy wins the ROH title,
held by other ROH guys! gee some history there, thats not a milestone for a carreer or placing your name amongst legends, NWA belt is way more important.

Also I'm a CM Punk fan, but guys stop the worship. He can draw but he's been in WWE for less than 3 years. he's won the ECW Title and has a extremely respectable win loss record against guys at every level on the company. He'll get his time to shine once they find another guy he can really work with for an awesome feud and then win. Expect him to get drafted to a big brand soon and get a major push then. but if he became champ now, it wouldn't work because he wouldn't draw.
Surely enough, this all led to a big exchange between him and Ari, which was quite fun to read through, actually.

So moving away from that fun exchange, we head into lightning116’s comments.
Back then, when someone mentioned that they were a former Intercontinental champion, the fans would expect something big from them (Savage, Bret, Michaels, Rock, Austin and HHH comes to mind). Now when you hear this guy is a former IC champion, fans are like "eh, who cares?"

I find it really sad and pathetic how a secondary title that has been around the promotion for almost FORTY years, a title which had a lot of value behind it especially for who-so-ever won it, defend it and lost it. Then you compare it to another midcard title that never belonged to the company at all (U.S title from WCW), which they have on the so-called "B" show on SmackDown, a show which they have no plans on making anything big for it.........and it has more value than the Intercontinental title. How the hell does that work?

Add to the list of some really bad champions (Godfather, Chyna, Val Venis, PRINCE ALBERT, Jeff Jarrett, etc) and you have a recipe for disaster.

As for CM Punk, here's hoping that they don't do anything STUPID and have Jeff Hardy beat him for the briefcase. Having him lose matches like that while holding something as valuable as the Money In The Bank briefcase makes him and the match in general look like crap. Add the fact that I heard that he lost to Chuck Palumbo (SAY WHAT) should be the final nail in the coffin to tell them: wait, he's the MITB winner. Let's make him credible before fans catch on. OOPS, too late.

*sigh* I knew when Jeff Hardy got suspended during the WrestleMania build, whoever won it would not look credible in the outcome and look what he have here: the WWE doing a REALLY bad job in making Punk look credible after looking like a million bucks in the King of the Ring tournament.

Come on, WWE. Put more effort into your Intercontinental title and stop making Punk look like a complete jobber to.......OTHER jobbers. Same thing for Elijah Burke, Shelton Benjamin, MVP and many more other guys that the creative teams seem to have forgotten.
It’s the same old run of complaints, and the WWE doesn’t seem to try and fix some of these things. The IC title is devalued and put in the mix of feuds where the focus isn’t on the strap – why?

Punk is a number one contender to a title, and as of late, has looked weak in match losses to guys who should be stepping stones to add to his credibility for when he challenges a World champion. Instead, he’s left to look like a chump, and a wannabe challenger that is destined for failure. WWE, we know you won’t put the title on Punk, so why not build him to look credible so that we all at least buy into him possibly winning the belt? You know, by defeating guys that you’d think, “Punk shouldn’t be able to beat them, they’re too high up the totem pole, and far too popular, and experienced.”

Away from the topic of WWE, bighustle had this to say about overbearing ROHbots – methinks he’s still stung by the bad crowds at the Hammerstein show, while I’m morbidly apathetic to them right now. Maybe we need to find a balance between our two approaches?
the ROHbots can be overbearing, but ROH delivers consistently enough that I'm willing to put up with the "elitist" attitude and enjoy the product. How can you not be thrilled by a Briscoes vs Steen/Generico match or wince during a Stevens/Strong chop exchange? ROH has enough good to offer where its not simply another bush league indy. All it needs is some type of way where more fans can see it on a consistent basis, whether it be television or an internet show or something.

I don't see why there's so much hate for Danielson though. I can understand criticism, but some people just flat out hate the guy. He can cut a decent promo. Just because he's not a screaming (samoa joe) or trynna pimp
merchandise (triple h) or isn't gimmicked up, doesn't mean he doesn't have character. Here's his character: I'm a professional wrestler, I'm passionate and dedicated to wrestling, I am the best technical wrestler in the world.

In a business full of over-the-top gimmicks, high-flyers and brawlers, how can you not appreciate him for being different? If it was someone who was trying to do a gimmick that came off looking bland (coughChuck Pulumbocough) then I'd complain. But Danielson is admittedly basic.
I concur. ROH’s main issue of exposure is one that hurts them in discussions, as people always write them off for the sole reason that they’re hard to watch and follow. Although, I always complain of laziness on the part of the complainer if they’re on YouTube following about a community that does nothing but talk about wrestling – you have access to them on that site and if you frequent that site enough to watch a Bill and Doug video, comment on videos and start up arguments about how hard it is to follow ROH and their storylines, then you have more than enough free time to check out their video wires and get a taste of what they offer there.

The Danielson hate is bewildering, but apparently NWA fans hate the guy – him and Quackenbush, apparently. Strike this one up to Unsolved Mysteries, because I can’t fathom how such hate is derived upon an individual.

And finally, to round out these comments, Blazedinpk dropped off this e-mail to share his experiences with TNA live.
on friday night i wasted 26.50 to go to the worst wrestling event to ever take place the midhudson civic center and it was a tna show fuck tna. the arena wasnt even half full so their prolly wasnt even 1000 people attendence and their were no intrieging matches. christian wasnt there, aj styles wasnt there, booker t wasnt there, sting wasnt there, i mean hell sharkboy wasnt there wtf. somoa joe looked disgusted when he came out to that arena. rhyno even said that hes never seen the place that empty when i met him and talked to him and take it from him b/c ecw was at the midhudson civic center every 4 months basically from nov 97- nov 2000. tna is a sham and has a long wayse to go if it wants make an impact. now im going to start a movement to get roh to come to the civic center i guarantee you they would outsell tna in there. the civic center disereves better i mean this is the place andre the giant got his head shaved, the place rvd and jerry lynn tore down hardcore heaven 98, the place that MONDAY NIGHT RAW used to come to the night after wrestlemania(9,10, and 11) , tna really let poughkeepsie down and i think the only hope for wrestling in poughkeepsie is roh to come to town and remind us all why we love wrestling again. i understand this is a small venue but ecw had cheaper tickets to a better show as does roh. tna didn't do shit for its fans that night except some corney fucking autograph signin. next time they should have a decent match
And if you understood that, that meant your ass!

Well, it looks like not everyone who attends a TNA house show enjoys the experience. Maybe he’s just of the minority that is an exception to the rule? Who knows – I’ll have to experience myself someday…assuming they, of course, stop lying to me about imaginary tickets that aren’t on sale when they actually are, and stop trying to gouge me for ticket prices. $100 bucks to view a show and get a seat? That seat better be on Dixie Carter’s lap!

And that’ll do it for this short edition. Stay tuned as I’ll certainly have more to write about after the fall out from this week’s Fact or Fiction.
And we're rolling... - 05.27.2008

I’m a bit of a blonde at times, as my mind draws blank. But one thing I’m certain of is that sometimes, I have to really sit down and forge forward. Towards what, I haven’t an Earthly, bloody freakin’ clue. But I have to press forward. So with that, here’s the reader feedback I got from last week’s edition(s) of Scripted Through Sin.

We’ll start off with the first set of comments on the 5.20.08: It’s A Popularity Contest edition, with scipio2009 and his many comments.
Another good column and a nice rebuttal, I may add.

Still I feel that there are a few points I need to clarify:

1) When I used the term "washed up WCW/WWF/ECW stars", I was merely using the rhetoric that is prevalent on this site and in a few other wrestling discussions that I've had with people; how people believe that anyone that TNA brings in, who wasn't made on the indies, is a waste of space, on the roster.

Angle, Steiner, Cage, Booker T, Nash and Sting are all names that still carry weight, with most of the wrestling audience.

My feeling has always been that if you want to truly make JOE the star of your company, you need to put him above the other names that the casual audience will readily recognize, and the most straightforward way to do this is to have JOE beat them, adding their names to his budding legacy.

2)It seems that people fail to realize that "The Golden Age of the X-Division", in 2005, where the X-Division title was the main event of the show, was built around three names, Samoa JOE, AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels, almost exclusively.

IMO, that was and is the only reason people feel the X-Division title should be the secondary title in TNA.

But when those three moved away from the X-Division, you were left with a good cruiser division, and I don't see much now that can really change that perception.

IMO, TNA needs to finally make a secondary heavyweight belt and end the charade.

3) The idea of TNA bringing a top import talent, to challenge JOE for the title is a good one, but the politics of wrestling says it'll never happen.

The odds of seeing a top talent, like Mutoh, Nakamura, Tanahashi, or Chono, and to really dream, Misawa or Kobashi, come into to TNA to put over JOE is remote.

Firstly, there are some wastes of space on that roster and most of them happen to be former WWE/WCW/ECW stars. At what point does TNA really need Sting anymore? He served his purpose long ago, and has since done nothing to really get me, or many others quite frankly to care about him or the product again. He was the whore sent out by the master pimps up in TNA headquarters in Don West’s stuffy studio apartment, with their TNA Shop, sent out to turn the trick of getting them a million viewers on Spike TV. He did his job, and is now overstaying any welcome he had. Sting needs to go away before they actually HAVE to change the name of “Bound for Glory” to “Bound for STING’S Glory”.

Secondly, they have a secondary title in the X Title. End of discussion there. If they can’t take care of their World Title, their Tag Titles or their X Title, why add yet another title to the mix that will get even less usage than their main stay championships in the first place?

The thing that broke up the stigma of the X Division being just another Cruiserweight division was the inclusion of a big man in Samoa Joe. Guess what they could do to break that stigma now? That’s right, include some BIG men in there and once again apply the rule that the X Division isn’t about weight limits, but rather about NO LIMITS! Throw some Master P on that shit and watch it sizzle already.

You have Rhino he’s directionless and aimless within the company. Boom, a shot at the X Title revives him and brings some life to the X Division title. Now he has purpose again within the company. Matt Morgan? He can shoot for this championship as well. Lance Hoyt should already be one of the guys they regularly use in that division, anyway!

A secondary title isn’t needed as they already HAVE one. They just have to fucking use it.

And finally, TNA has working deals with several promotions, and has, in the past, pulled strings to get in Great Muta on pay-per-view, Liger during his run about the indy scene, and even got Tanahashi to do the job to AJ at Final Resolution 2006. What’s to say they can’t pull strings, again, to get someone like a Nakamura? Or even a Nagata!? They already showed their audiences who he was, and had him challenge their main champion, Kurt Angle. Why couldn’t you bring him in and feed him to Joe? He’s not doing much in Japan at the moment that a loss to a gaijin would kill that moment. He’s the perfect choice to sacrifice to this lamb, and in return, NJPW could get another working shot at any big name out of the TNA roster that they want and feel could help sell out a show. No one is asking for Misawa – although I’m sure if the money was right, and the deal was lucrative to help NOAH get their feet wet on a solid American tour, they could work it along to get Misawa to lie down for Joe for the full three seconds. After all, in business, one hand washes the other, making the world go round.

Also in was Steve’s comments about the World X Cup.
TNA tried to get Mistico for the X-Cup, but CMLL has him booked solid for the summer.

Oh, and 9/11 was a bunch of terrorists putting one over on the United States. That was it. No conspiracy theories. No hidden truth. No nothing. Occam's razor.

The 9/11 talk aside, TNA has handled this situation poorly. Why, you may ask? Well, I doubt anyone really is asking but I’ll answer my own rhetorical question – it’s because they announced the return of this event long before they had any of the players secured.

No one told TNA to announce this thing so early. Hell, last year fans were expecting it, didn’t get it, and nobody seemed to riot, loot, or pillage the streets. Everything was fine. So throughout all of that time up until the announcement of the return of this tournament, they couldn’t work out a deal with Mistico? They couldn’t come to some terms with CMLL to get Mistico in for this special occasion? Shit, they got Liger to show up for about a day the last time they did this, why not work something out with Mistico?

My problem is they had this time, they announced this thing without any actual names even under talks with them, and they’ve been sitting on this event, since its announcement, for almost 3 months, now. At what point should I get angry with this company for leading me into thinking they were half-way fucking competent? And I don’t even know what the excuse would be for not grabbing El Blazer. That one is just fucking stupid – you get Milano Collection AT in, but skimp out on the one guy who can show your fans what a true X Division star could, and probably should, look like? Dumb.

I don’t care that CMLL had him booked all the way until the apocalypse, you don’t announce a tournament that would play house to a star like him if you haven’t even gotten him, and the company, to agree to let him out and play for you. One way or another, you sit and you wait until Mistico is available to come out and play.

And speaking of the World X Cup, bighustle stopped by to drop these words.
I've posted it on TNA's forum in the past and i think i'll post it again.

Bring in El Blazor (although i didn't know he went by that name at the time).

I posted youtube videos, i posted profile links, and the fans there seemed to agree. I mentioned it too that this guy is the embodyment of what Jeff Jarrett's X-Division is all about. If you want someone who can amaze you with good spottiness (not that its a bad thing) bring this guy to TNA.

But then again, no one from TNA seems to pay attention to that site.

And I agree. I’m now totally convinced – TNA is run by cavemen, and it really wasn’t that easy for them.

KanyonKriest had these words to say.
You don't really expect people to start booing Shawn Michaels, do you? I do believe that he - and only he - has the power to get heel heat on himself, as opposed to the semi-creative team trying to come up with something dastardly for him to do. Case in point: Michaels' 2005 feud with Hulk Hogan. HBK's heel promos during that feud were, unto themselves, so excellent that it made me raving mad when, right after losing to the Hulkster, Michaels was a lily-white babyface again within seconds. That's how starved I am for a REAL heel in WWE. Even the usually-super-heel Edge has been pretty bland lately.

Hey, they jeered the dude when he was talking about taking good old Naitch ‘round back to the shed, and putting him down with a rifle, I don’t see why they wouldn’t hate on him, even for just a bit, for faking an injury and lying about it all this time.

And that’ll do it for this round of comments. We’ll get to the next set of comments later on tonight, along with an e-mail. Stay tuned for tomorrow, where I’ll hope to highlight a wrestler worth people’s time.
And we're rolling... - 05.23.2008

Well, most people are going to complain about this product one way or the other, I might as well get my licks in on the few things they actually did wrong – and mind you, it was only a few things.

One of the heavier complaints is going to be the lack of wrestling, or the amount of time put into the wrestling. I’d say that’s a fair gripe, but not because the show needs more wrestling, rather that the show needed something to help it manage its time more effectively. This show was filled with many segments, some of which were just too long. The LAX beat down did two things to bother me: one, it was just a bit too long and didn’t even answer the questions of where they were at the end of last week’s edition when Hector Guerrero was being beaten by the hands of Team 3D; and number two, it wasn’t necessary for LAX to be busted open during the attack as it took away from the impact of AJ’s beat down later on in the show. Sorry, but for me, the blood has to be used only on the big storyline that’s going to really draw the fans in emotionally.

That’s one of the things with TNA; they try to put everyone over as being important when you realistically can’t do that. There has to be a time where someone like Eric Young just isn’t relevant to us. LAX got to steal some of the shine of AJ’s beat down all because someone decided it would add to the effect of the feud if the Latino’s were bleeding out. It’s not necessary to have blood in every storyline. I get it, though, you wanted to add some intensity to the feud and this was your way of doing it, but I still feel that you got through it with Team 3D versus the Machine Guns without blood and that was pretty interesting and hot, so why was it needed here?

Add further to this, they completely fucked up last week’s booking of The Beautiful People and Roxxi Laveaux feud, but this week seemed to do the thing that would’ve made sense following the night of Sacrifice – you had Roxxi look dominant. I’ll let the exchange to start off slide and only focus on what they got right in this instance: they had Roxxi make the save on ODB – which would’ve, and by all rights should have, set-up the tag match between the two – and they made Roxxi walk out looking strong.

But now for the negatives about these Knockouts: who the fuck is writing these promos for the ladies? ODB basically just trashed herself with that promo, and everyone knows it. Last week, Sky and Love trashed themselves trying to trash the announcer – whichever one they had in that slot for the week. They also sounded horrible trying to get over that “white girl talking slang” gimmick and it just sounded fucking horrible. I’m sorry, but why did any of these women have to talk when the person we all want to hear from is Roxxi? The Beautiful People’s promo should have been stronger than that, and it shouldn’t have taken pot shots at themselves in the process of putting down Roxxi to keep her face heat hot. Whoever is writing their material simply stop. Cease and fucking desist.

Just for the record, what the hell is wrong with Rudy Charles and Slick Johnson? Slick just looks like a big heaping grease ball that escaped a McDonald’s fryer, looks unprofessional with his shirt not tucked and wearing kick pads as if he’s the one going to compete, and Charles just looks incompetent in that ODB and Love match. How could he not have seen a thing if he was in position to view it all? And you could tell he was confused about that spot as he looked around aimlessly like, “what, I’m not supposed to call that?” Whoever booked that finish really had no idea how to pull the ref out of position and should probably never be asked to help out in the match building process ever again.

You just had a lot of time wasted on things that could’ve been balanced off nicely with the matches they had getting more time. For instance, did Lethal, Dutty, Val, Christy, Rave and Hoyt’s segment really need to be that long to set-up what will probably end up being a tag bout at Slammiversary? Did AJ’s beating really have to go almost 7 full minutes? Was that even necessary to only start after the commercial break rather than during it? I wouldn’t mind missing some of that, unlike with what we saw from Petey’s destruction of Lethal which should’ve gotten some of that air time rather than just be highlights on the replay. Did Booker T really have to go that long for his promo? I actually got bored half way through it as he was started to repeat himself about the conditions not being up to his standards – yeah, we get it Emperor Huffman. I can’t really complain too much about the Angle’s segment as that all fed right into AJ Styles promo nicely. But someone tell me how TNA is more wrestling based when they’ve taken the step to basically admit that they have a soap opera running about on their show.

As for Awesome Kong I liked that they were putting it over in a logical manner, but I couldn’t buy into it so much with JB being the one to put up such a front. The man is horrible, and he proves that every night when he’s following Kurt about like a damned child begging for attention. I think Cornette should have been involved in some of those segments, namely the one where Kong is pressing the act of violence on Borasch if she doesn’t get what she wants. But where they were going right with it, they soon went wrong. Again, time management is needed here, and a bit of sense. We didn’t have to see Kong kill the fan if they were so adamant about this being a bad idea – sure we would’ve missed the greatest Awesome Bomb ever, but it would’ve put this over better as the company took something in a logical light. It also didn’t need to air JB asking for volunteers as you saw too many willing faces, and too many fans loving for a chance to get some air time. You cut out the rough 6 minutes of this segment to feed to commercials, and TNA trying everything to avoid airing this, and you have fans interested in Kong as some sort of murderous villain, and the company being the ones trying to protect their fans, and their own interests.

Overall, the show did take the right steps to really sell Slammiversary. They basically got everything right between Styles, Kurt, Karen and Tomko, and I didn’t mind the inclusion of Team 3D and Booker in that mix. They gave ample time for Roode to show his strengths as an entertainer and communicator. They got Booker over as a serious heel, even with him playing up to a bit of comedy with Brother Ray. They certainly got things right with Roxxi after last week. The jury is still out on Eric Young’s little segments – anything less than the full-time return of Jorge Estrada and I’ll complain this accomplished nothing but further confuse fans outside of the South about the “Memphis Area” and the fact that Memphis isn’t in Mississippi.

It wasn’t their greatest show, but then again can anything truly be dubbed such a thing with such a low bar to have to hurdle over? It may have been better than the rest just based on storytelling and build to a show, but it certainly wasn’t great.

It did enough rights to make this a passable show. Whether the ratings are in their favor or not doesn’t bother me. I think the stigma around their current direction is still too fresh for the ratings to reflect the fans approval of their current steps taken. It’ll be a long while before they get those ratings back up, I would suspect, and something that gets all of the fans buzzing around the product, once more. Right now, I don’t think they have that, but they certainly are on the right path to that.
And we're rolling... - 05.01.2008

For those who have been following my weekly articles, Scripted Through Sin, you’ll know I’ve since moved my TNA Revised project to the blog section of my profile. Since then, I’ve taken more time to flesh out certain ideas and the build of the shows for this project. This week, we present the go-home of iMPACT! as we head into Bound For Glory on this edition of TNA Revised.

But previously on iMPACT!:

The Announcements of Bound For Glory

Chaos emerged a victor as Danielson’s request to battle Samoa Joe for the X Division Title under normal match rules rather than the X Division television match rules was turned into a challenge by Jim Cornette to prove he was not only the true contender to Joe’s crown but that he was good enough to battle the champion under regular contest rules by beating one a contender of equal right to Joe’s title in under ten minutes. Danielson would face off Kaz in a “Beat the Clock” bout that would see Danielson get a roll-up on Kaz just second after the ten minute mark. Replays of all angles would show Kaz’s shoulder was not flush with the canvas at the three count causing up a bit of stir.

The excitement that turned to disappointment soon fades into despair as Raven’s homemade video talking about the goals of his new unit and the danger Kurt Angle is placing himself by trying to challenge him for his TNA World Championship begins to air. Fuzzy and faded the picture shows off unity of this team as the words about Angle’s fate are clashed with pictures of Booker’s humiliation and defeat. The words from Mitchell about Aries and Shingo should shine through Shingo’s dominance of Elix Skipper and the intensity he and Aries share walking into a potential confrontation with Daniels and Abyss.

Fade to black as Danielson is heard barging into Cornette’s office proposing a business opportunity, only for him to be removed from the office to talk of this matter later on. A stare off is had between Danielson and Kaz, as we slowly fade into tonight’s broadcast.
Live in the Impact Zone

Bound For Glory is only a night away, and there is still no word on who will face off with the TNA World Champion, though all fingers point to the dominating Kurt Angle and his long success within the company. The announcers should be welcoming and inviting tonight as they put over the fact that tomorrow night is the big pay-per-view event and there still isn’t any decision for who will face off with Raven for the coveted championship title. But as they’re doing this, Jim Cornette should have just finished entering the ring, as the focus now shifts to the fact that all of the champions are in the ring together, and there is a lot of tension between the figures, as the Blood Inked Bruises, Tomko and Bloom, seem to impose their intimidation upon Samoa Joe and Raven, who are also fixated on one another in attempt to prove their own brand of dominance.

Cornette’s Bound For Glory Announcement

Cornette should take the time here to thank all of the champions for showing up and being nice enough to not rip each other apart as he has an important announcement for all of them based upon their individual title matches for this upcoming pay-per-view event. Jim targets Samoa Joe first, and foremost, making it clear that his title defense against Danielson two weeks ago was good and that the fans should come to enjoy seeing the two go at it once more, but that road may come at another time because at Bound for Glory, thanks to a business proposal from both Danielson and Kaz, Cornette has decided to do the right thing for the company, the championship, and the division itself by allowing an Elimination X-Division Triple Threat Match, featuring Bryan Danielson and Kaz against Samoa Joe for the X Division Championship. Joe’s reaction should be that of no concern as his confidence should build him up to step up to Cornette and ask for only one favor – that he be able to fight a warm up match tonight against one X Division contender, just to prove his dominance. So confident, in fact, he claims that he will beat whoever Jim puts in front of him in under 5 minutes. Cornette agrees and allows the champion the opportunity to leave the ring to go prep for his bout later on in the night.

Turning his attention over to the TNA World Tag Team Champions, Jim admits that there isn’t a clear enough cut challenger for the two to face off, but that these two will get to defend their titles on this event as it’s their biggest show of the year, being their first pay-per-view event they’ve had since starting up on Spike TV. So he has decided to host an open tag team gauntlet match with the Champions getting the last seat on the match. At this point, Team 3D will interrupt. Heading towards the ring the tandem will put over the fact that they’ve not had their shot to showcase to the world, on Spike TV, that they are still the greatest tag team in the industry and that they deserve a title shot tonight, let alone at Bound For Glory. Cornette weighs in proclaiming that it’s true that they haven’t had a match on Spike TV yet, but that they haven’t won enough matches to look that much better than any of the other teams, so reaches a conclusion that tonight, Team 3D will be involved in a tag team match tonight. Should they win, they’ll get a favorable lottery slot in the gauntlet match at Bound For Glory, which should allow them, seemingly a two-on-two match. Team 3D agrees and begins to face off with the Blood Inked Bruisers, much to Jim’s disapproval as he would like to take this time to make the final, and biggest announcement for Bound for Glory. Persuading the four men to get out of the ring and advising Team 3D warm up for their match later in the night, Jim now turns and focuses on Raven.

Jim can take his time here and really lay on thick of Raven, who should be more concerned over his championship title, holding it very closely and tentatively, as Cornette continues to talk on. Raven should almost appear to not even care about what Jim has to say as he focuses more and more on his title than anything else. Cornette goes on to state that he would love nothing more than to just give Kurt Angle that title match and see Raven scream in agony for all of the crap he’s pulled in the past, and more recently against Booker T two weeks ago. But Jim also realizes that he’s got to move this pay-per-view and the way to do that is to really give the fans their money’s worth, and that would include placing enough matches on this card to move it. Announcing that at Bound for Glory, Raven’s entire unit will be in action, he goes on to state that there won’t be any way Raven will be able to pull off those same actions of two weeks ago on his opponent for the title, because he’ll be sure to keep his flock of goons tied up, as he announces that Austin Aries, Shingo Takagi will team up to take on Christopher Daniels and Abyss, and just to further this, he’s going to stick Naomichi Marufuji against James Storm just for good measure. At this point Raven should look up at Jim in almost apathy, as if to say he doesn’t care what Cornette does with his new friends, as his match will still be contested under his own rules, one way or another. Cornette should pick up on that look and run with it – pointing out that once those men are finished fighting in the ring, they can continue to lash out at one another all the way to the airport, for all he cares, as he’s going to pull off any restrictions, any penalties or punishments for unsporting and unprofessional acts of aggression towards one another, just to keep that flock out of Raven’s match. Here Raven should show some concern, as if to say to himself, and the world, that now he’s feeling as though he’s in trouble.

Cornette continues by putting over that the field of contenders is a large one and that he isn’t going to give Raven any breaks by giving him a gauntlet match. It wouldn’t be fair to put him in there first, but it also wouldn’t be fair to put him last and give him a huge advantage. So instead, he’s going to build up a round robin system, one that’s going to see the Champion in action just as much as the contenders, and that Raven will be defending his title against all of these men on the same show. Right now, Raven should be outraged, as he goes on about his contract and how he’s allowed to fight all of his matches under any rules he wants – a stipulation he earned when he won the title all those months back. Cornette doesn’t care. His concern isn’t about that contract so much as it is putting on the show he feels will benefit the fans, and that will create a fair playing field for all contenders. With that Cornette ends the segment by wishing Raven luck, who is now manic and unwilling to accept this news, as we head off into our first commercial break.

Commercial Break

A Seed of Doubt

Heading to the back, we see Booker T has returned to the Impact Zone, still wearing some of the wounds of his attack two weeks ago. With wife, Sharmell, at his side, he walks towards his locker room only for Kurt to approach him and address him, asking if he’s feeling good. Booker simply looks at him and brushes him off, walking past the concerned Olympian, as the segment comes to an end.
Back To the Cast

We’re thrown back to the announce team who wonders the state of Booker T and what must be going through his mind. The announcers focus on what state Booker will be in for Bound for Glory, if he will even want to compete on the show, and put over the Team 3D match later on tonight, as Cornette has announced that the tag team match will serve as a highlight to tomorrow night’s big challenge for the tag team titles.

At this time, we cut to the ring to see Raven as being despondent, sitting in the corner of the ring, not moving. The announcers put over the fact that during the break, Raven seemingly calmed down, only to host a protest of sorts, not moving from the ring as referees and officials tried to persuade him to leave. Raven wouldn’t respond, and now, AJ Styles is coming down to the ring for his match-up.

The Response

AJ gets into the ring, as Raven never moves. AJ simply looks at him, concerned at the fact that he’s obstructing his match time, so begins to talk to Raven in hopes of persuading him to leave the ring. Raven doesn’t look at him as AJ begins to plead his case that he needs to move. As AJ places his hands upon the champion, Raven should shrug him off, leading AJ to turn his back on the anti-social figure, who quickly begins to attack the Phenomenal One. The refs and officials flock to try and stop this from continuing, only for Raven to chase off some by swinging the title wildly. As AJ looks to recover Raven quickly hits his Evenflow DDT to leave Styles laid out, leaving him feeling satisfied with the venting process he just had. As the champion leaves the ring, the refs attempt to keep him at bay and lead him out of the ring, as the officials attend to Styles to see if he’s okay, as his landing looked awkward.

Commercial Break

The Samoan Destruction Machine

As Samoa Joe enters the ring, once more, the announce team should put over that this was at his request, and that Jim Cornette has decided to try and give Joe a run for his money tonight to see if he can back up his big talk. A timer is shown, giving him exactly five minutes at the start of the bell. At this point, Matt Morgan should be introduced as he enters the arena and begins to venture into the ring for the challenge. Morgan’s motivation should be put over here by the announce team, as a win here could shake up the picture and create doubt around Danielson and Kaz being the contenders to the title, even with a loss last week at the hands of AJ Styles.

The match begins with Joe feeling out Morgan, getting some sense of weakness before Morgan, taking into mind the time constraint against Joe, figures he’ll best him by beating the Samoan champion at his own game by pinning him in under five minutes. Countering headlocks with back suplexes and dumping the big Samoan on his back for quick pins, Morgan should look overly confident as he attempts a scissor’s kick only to be reversed into a snap powerslam that Joe follows up with a reverse hammerlock with neck vise for a submission in under three minutes. Joe should look as though his knowledge of submission holds and his execution of it is just too much for the likes of Morgan who threw out his own game plan to make up for the time factor. Joe should hold onto the move too long, getting a five count placed on him before he releases and sends Morgan on his way. The champion walks out dominant, and Morgan walks out looking doubtful of his own abilities, as he’s suffered three losses on the big spotlight of Spike TV.

Division Rivalry

Bryan Danielson is seen packing up his items and readying himself to leave the arena when Kaz shows up and interrupts him. Kaz congratulates Bryan on getting Jim Cornette to give him the no-time limit clause to the X Division Title match, much like Danielson had wanted. Bryan, begrudgingly, accepts the congratulations only to spin it on Kaz for thanking him for giving Jim a reason to give into his wants by interjecting himself into a match he had clearly lost. Kaz points to American Dragon that he never beat him, his shoulders weren’t on the mat at that three count and that he had every right to be placed into this match. Bryan never sees it this way as he feels being the best wrestler in the world, he can tell when he has someone beat, and he clearly had Kaz beat. The two share a stare, almost getting to the point where the tension is thick enough for these men to come to blows, only for Bryan to smirk and remind Kaz that he doesn’t have to do a thing until tomorrow night – that’s his stage and he’s going to take that title that he’s worked so hard for the past 6 months, and he will get his prize.

Team 3D Warms Up

We return to the Impact Zone to see Team 3D has entered the ring and is ready for action, when Cornette appears to explain that Team 3D needs to win this match to get a favorable lottery spot in the gauntlet match, but that it isn’t going to come easy. They have to earn it, and they’ll earn it by warming up for the gauntlet match.

At this point, Replay Value’s Sonjay Dutt and Jay Lethal are introduced and head down to the ring for some action. As they enter the ring and ready for the match, Cornette reminds us that it’s a gauntlet warm-up match, so Team 3D is going to have to work out which poison they’ll start off with, as L.A.X.’s Homicide and Hernandez comes out and readies themselves for action, as well. At this point and time, Jim asks which team the brothers would like to start off against, and to remember, they’ll have the other team to face off with next, so to choose carefully.

Team 3D confer with one another and decide upon Replay Value first, leaving Hernandez and Homicide for second. At this point, the bell rings and Devon and Dutt start off, with Dutt getting a quick start by skipping out on the headlock to hit a floating dropkick to the back to send Devon reeling into the ropes. Dutt should immediately keep the Devon off balance with his speed and flying ability, making quick tags to Lethal, who continues this trend. Sending Devon to the floor, Brother Ray should enter in to try and cut off Lethal’s momentum, only to duck a closeline attempt and hit Devon on the outside of a suicide dive, leaving Dutt and Ray to battle off before the commercial break.

Commercial Break

Back from the break, we see Dutt and Lethal firmly in control, as Dutt and Lethal continue to lay in a fast paced combination of maneuvers that chain well into each other’s offense, further keeping Team 3D off balance. The bout continues with Replay Value firmly in control, as Blood Inked Bruisers come down to ringside to join commentary and keep an eye out on their competition. They should put over their abilities and their toughness and how they don’t care if Team 3D feels this is their titles, they’ll have to take it from them to claim them as their own, which won’t be an easy feat. They should even put over that if it were up to them they’d run the gauntlet at the first spot and dominate the entire tag division to further prove their dominance.

At this point, Team 3D should get a moment where they can counter Dutt and Lethal’s offense to plant them to the mat. As the four men regain their wits about them, Dutt and Lethal should try and continue their offense before Ray bails Dutt out, leaving Devon and Lethal to decide the fall with Devon getting a counter for a roll-up that gets the two eliminated from the bout. At this point, L.A.X. should prep up to get on the ring apron to enter the bout, as Ray and Devon grasp their wits about them, and Dutt and Lethal walk off disappointed.

The four should start off quickly, with Homicide focusing on Ray on the outside, taking in some cheap shots while the ref continues to look on with Devon and Hernandez, who should look dominate, though he would hold trouble tossing the big man around the ring. This should be more hard hitting action with a heavy emphasis on grappling and hard hitting strikes, which counters what was emphasized before with high flying and quick paced striking and movement. Homicide should ground Ray and head in to attack Devon from behind, who should have tossed Hernandez out of the ring. Homicide should focus on trying to hit his Cop Killa’ but Devon should fight it off and counter every attempt until he is knocked out to ringside, as Ray recovers in time to catch Homicide from behind and suplex him for a count attempt that only gets two.

At this point the Blood Inked Bruisers should play a role as they leave the commentary booth to get closer to the action, drawing the attention of the referee who tries to keep them out of the ring, though that was never their intention. Hernandez back in tags Ray from behind with a blunt object that he conceals in his tights, as Homicide should roll-up Ray and start calling out for the ref to make the count. A late count gets two, only for Devon to come in and try and put some boot to Homicide, only for Hernandez to come in and blindside Devon. As the two set-up the 3D partner for a double team, Devon should bail in time for Hernandez to clock Homicide, only to turn around and eat a 3D for the three count.

Entering into the ring, the Blood Inked Bruisers grab hold of the mike and proclaim that because Team 3D did so well in this match, they’d like to congratulate them first hand and offer them the final spot in the gauntlet match, just as a sign of good faith. Reluctant, Ray grabs the mike from the big Tomko and asks for the catch. The two proclaim no catch and simply walk away from the bout, as they head up the ramp, smiling as though they had succeeded in the match, as Homicide and Hernandez bail, arguing over the count and the miscommunication that saw them lose the match.

Phenomenally Upset

To the back, we see AJ Styles with interviewer, Crystal. AJ nurses his injuries from early in the night and proclaims he will pay back Raven one way or another. Come Bound for Glory, he will get his revenge and cost Raven in the biggest way imaginable – this he promises.

A Proposal of Sorts

As Matt Morgan heads to his rental car to head out of the arena, Kevin Nash confronts him and asks for a moment to talk to him. Morgan proclaims he’s not interested in talking right now as he’d just like to end the night and move on to try and rebound from this losing streak. Nash respects his decision and leaves him be.

Commercial Break

The Truth About Circumstance

We return to see Booker T sitting in his locker room, readying his things together to try and shrug off the attacks placed upon him at the hands of Raven and his crew. BG and Konnan then enter the room and ask if they can talk to him in private, as Sharmell disapproves of their presence at first. But Booker doesn’t budge, he only sits and shakes off his wife, as if willing to give a listen to their words. As the two continue to walk into the room, they close the door behind them, and we send off to the announce team.

Final Thoughts Before Bound for Glory

The announce team should put over that TNA is hosting its biggest show of the year, tomorrow night in Miami, Florida. Putting over the major announcements tonight, they round out the card and what is to be expected for the event, until an interruption is made and out comes Amazing Kong.

Open Invitation to Destruction

Amazing Kong hits the ring, just before the final closing moments to announce that she is sick and tired of playing second fiddle to the boys, and that if they don’t give her a match tomorrow night, at Bound for Glory, she’s going to cause whatever havoc she feels necessary to implement her own brand of destruction and dominance. At the final seconds, she declares a state of Kong Law – and she’ll do what she wants, whenever she wants to because she’s so dominant that even men fear her.

The announcers bid us a farewell and remind us to order Bound for Glory to see what happens.

And we're rolling... - 04.19.2008

What was once a project that was featured on my weekly article, Scripted Through Sin, is now a weekly project to be placed on my blog. This week we further build upon the story leading us into Bound for Glory which will take place after next week’s episode, on Sunday night. So for this episode we’ll be building upon the card, unveiling some of the card for Bound for Glory.

But previously on iMPACT!:

Building Up Bound For Glory
Highlights of the Monster’s Ball bout show off Aries ready to declare victory over Abyss, as Morgan lays out on the outside after taking a chair to the back of the head. Aries sets up for the 450 Splah only for Daniels to come in and shove Aries off the top rope. Daniels enters the ring and clocks Aries with a chair as Abyss follows through with a Chokeslam for the win. The background sounds showcase portions of Daniels and Mitchell’s exchange after the match, fading into the back to show the two talking about some sort of deal. The highlights continue to show the conclusion of the bout between Angle and Booker as Raven attempts to run in and lay out Angle, only for Booker to make the save. The highlight shifts over to Raven challenging Booker to a match on the following iMPACT! and Booker accepting the challenge for the World Title. The highlight continues to show the pre-match settings as Booker stands in the ring, with the words of Kurt and L.A.X. handing Booker some words of advice, as Raven breaks onto the scene and explains the rules. Surrounded by Daniels, Abyss and Mitchell, a flash back to a few weeks ago when TNA wasn’t on Spike TV shows that Daniels and Raven were seen together speaking to one another during a promo being shot with A.J. Styles. The highlight cuts to Storm attacking Booker from behind, furthering with the attack upon him as Daniels and Abyss lug out a pillory to lock up Booker as Raven and Storm continue to beat down the challenger. Another glimpse into the past before we aired on Spike TV to show the conflict between Raven and Storm and the conflict between Storm and Daniels as they talk down to him about his talents being wasted. Ending out the highlight should be to show of Angle and Aries failing to make the save and L.A.X. looking down upon the carnage from atop the ramp.
Show Openning

The announcers should put over the action of last week by condemning the attacks laid against Booker T while placing the idea that we’ll see some more of this conflict today and possibly see a resolution. In the meantime, we put over the action we’ll be seeing tonight, as we have scheduled on the card the Spike TV debut of Shingo. Here we really hype up the pay-per-view airing next week, putting over that this is the biggest event of the year for TNA as this is the first pay-per-view we’ll be airing after getting the deal on Spike TV. It’s also the first event of its kind as we’ll be featured outside of the Impact Zone, traveling south of Orlando to the Bayfront Center in Saint Petersburg, Florida. We announce that after last week, we will determine the number one contender to the World Title to challenge Raven on this card through the rankings and through a mini-tournament to be held in the coming weeks towards the card.

Right now we’re interrupted by Bryan Danielson, coming down the ring without any of his music or lights, and dressed for action. The announcers put over the fact that Danielson was not scheduled for tonight, but put over his performance last week with the X Division champion, Samoa Joe. Danielson requests a mike to air out something that’s bothering him about last week’s title match. Bryan should put over that for months he’s been undefeated in action – having gone through the gauntlet of contenders this company has had to offer to earn a shot at the title. He puts down the idea of having to be rushed to try and deliver the results he’s been getting before. Putting over the power and strength of Joe, he feels it’s an injustice to the fans and to himself as a competitor, to have to try and figure out the puzzle of defeating such a champion in only ten minutes. At this point Cornette should come out, and at the top of the ramp, state that because Bryan failed to get the job done last week, and that another competitor is still on a winning streak, that he’s been placed in the difficult position to make a decision about who the number one contender will be. He nods that because Danielson is in his wrestling gear, he’s going to give Bryan that option of fighting this man for the opportunity to face Samoa Joe at Bound for Glory. Jim then goes further by stating that if the winner of this bout can do so under the ten minute mark that they’ll get to have a no-time limit bout against the champion at the pay-per-view. If not, they’ll have to fight under the contested rules of the championship. Bryan’s one and only response should be to bring out his opponent.

Commercial Break

Return from the break, we see the highlight of Danielson’s winning ways and the winning ways of his opponent for the night, Frankie Kazarian. This should have been the first encounter between the two, and that should be put over here. It should also be put over that neither man has lost in TNA recently in the past 2 months, with Bryan being put over as the undefeated competitor here who only hit a stumbling block in fighting time.

With Kazarian in the ring, we see the ten minute time clock on the screen and it begins to tick down as the action starts. It should be a fast paced match as both men want to clock in a victory under the ten minute mark to get a shot at the champion at Bound for Glory with no time limit against them. The action should avoid any slow paced action as both men simply exchange pin falls for a while before having to get back up and take the action back down to the mat with more counters. Kazarian should focus upon countering, while Bryan focuses on hard blows that look to stun his opponent quickly for a three count. Towards the final seconds of the nine minute mark there should be some very tense moments as roll-ups and counters to roll-up’s should be played up here as both men really tease getting over. The action should climax at the ten minute mark as Danielson gets a roll-up decision just seconds after the buzzer. Bryan’s emotions should be that of frustration instead of celebration, as Kaz looks distraught at the fact that his shoulders were down for the third count. The announcers should focus on putting over the bout and both men’s efforts while driving in the idea that Bryan still won’t get his desire to face off with the champion without a time limit.

At this point we cut to the back with Austin Aries talking to Shingo, as they put over their want to battle Abyss and Christopher Daniels. Aries warns the two and that Shingo will make an example out of his opponent tonight to showcase that he’s a man you don’t want to mess with.

Commercial Break

At this point we go back to last week’s attack on Booker T and the failed save by Aries and Angle as L.A.X. watched on, only to pick up the pieces of an unconscious Booker. The announcers should focus on why L.A.X. would take interest in Booker but refuse to aide him in the bout as Angle and Aries were dispatched with, as Raven and his crew continued to work on Booker. This should segway to talk about the heinous words of Raven on this pre-taped video. They should point out that the video was edited due to the nature of Raven’s words, and that they felt some of the things said and done in the video were simply inappropriate for the viewing audience.

A dark scenery, completely devoid of any characteristics that would lead you any idea of where they are, as Raven and his new found minions stand in front of the camera. James Mitchell should start off explaining that this was a work in the making for months, and that they were deliberate in their strategy to lure out Booker T as the weak link in the company to try and unsettle Kurt Angle. Their attacks were also a message against New Hazard Action and how they were not going to be running the action around TNA, but rather this new force would lay waste to this company and its competitors to further their agenda in proving they were the most dominant men this industry has to offer. Daniels should look almost fixated on Raven as if his desires were worn on his sleeve – his goal of becoming the World Champion. But nothing should be said, nor should he stand out too much in his fixation. Raven then speaks up, pointing to Storm as being the fallen and beaten of this company in their attempt to break a young star to continue pushing upon the old in Angle and Booker T. He vows that he will mentor these men to becoming the stars they should be, and that he will steer them clear of the pains and tragedies he suffered along the way of finding his own plateau as a world champion. Putting over his actions he lays claim to doing the same to any challenger, especially Kurt Angle. The video should end here, taking up only 3 minutes, as you can clearly see edits and clippings of the video throughout the exchange.

As Shingo makes his way to the ring, we are introduced for the first time Elix Skipper. The announcers should note here that while they don’t condone the video of Raven and his crew, that the entire video can be viewed on their web page, TNAwrestling.com. As the two get underway, Elix should take charge and begin to dish out some of his offense. On a irish whip to the corner, Shingo should reverse and take charge hitting his devastating offense of hard hits and high impact slams and tosses. Shingo finishes out the match off of a simple sit-out powerbomb for the three count, only to shrug off Elix as though he was never really a threat, and that his mind is clearly not focused on him. Aries should then celebrate with Shingo, and look more excited than Shingo, as he pumps up the big man about a conflict with Abyss and Daniels coming soon.

Commercial Break

A return from the commercial break should show Kevin Nash, once again, laying down the claim that he’s going to help aide the future of this industry. Roaming about the backstage area, he states he’s been impressed for the past few months with a certain individual who he feels has lacked focus and been stuck between a rock and a hard place. He claims he has only a few phone calls to make, but that he’ll soon take charge and kick start this man’s life the way it needs to be kick started.

We should then cut over to see Cornette devising a way to settle the tag team title bout for Bound for Glory, when Danielson should burst in to discuss business. Jim complains about the intrusion but states that if Bryan wishes to discuss business with him he’ll have to wait a bit, and that they do that off camera. At this point, as Bryan exits the office, he is confronted by Kaz who also has the same idea. The two trade off stares and even share a few words before we’re moved back to the ring.

Commercial Break

Back in we put over that here in TNA we try to take commercials before our main events rather than during. Heading in to our main event of the night, the announcers put over the face of TNA for the past 3 years, A.J. Styles, who will be taking on Matt Morgan. Highlights of Styles work in TNA should be showcased during his entrance, as Morgan readies for action. With just enough time for one more ten minute plus bout, we can easily allow these two a stage to perform on that showcases both of their talents. Morgan should look dominant at one point and controlling, leaving no doubt that the bigger man should walk away with the victory here. Upon the turn, Styles should execute what makes him stand out from the WWE cruiserweights and makes him the face of TNA, hitting his high spots and finishing with a Spiral Tap. The show should about be wrapping up here as we put over next week’s plans from Cornette and figure out what will be featured for Bound for Glory and the champion, Raven.

Rounding out, we flash the Bound for Glory show logo and the card that’s announced for now.
Bound for Glory
TNA World Tag Team Champions Blood Inked Bruisers
(Tyson Tomko & Giant Bernard) will be in action.

TNA World Champion Raven in action against a named number one contender to be determined.

TNA X Division Champion Samoa Joe takes on Bryan Danielson in a X Division Limit Bout: 10 Minute Time Limit, and No Count Outs

Scripted Through Sin 7.22.08: All Apologies (07.22.2008)
There once was a cool song written by a Seattle grunge band that just seemed to fit the mood for this week – shame the momentum of it died half way through this. Back from a enforced vacation, we come back to talk some TNA, Great American Bash, and a little Jerry Lynn.
Scripted Through Sin 7.15.08: Drunken Victory Road Commentary (07.13.2008)

This is a heavy draft based column a week after the draft.
Scripted Through Sin 6.24.08: A Spit of Venom (06.24.2008)
A trip back in formats, as this feels more like a straight up old school column. This week we look back into the tragedy of the Benoit family, and reflect upon ourselves as a community.
