Happy Friday the 13th everyone. I thought I'd post a couple storyline trailers for Singularity called "Russian Conspiracy Doc I and II". The more time I spend checking out this game the more excited I get for it, and these teaser trailers really do a good job of hyping me up. Check em out:

As a quick introduction this is my first blog but it's a platform that I fully intend on utilizing from here on out. With The Full Circle coming out on Friday there is a lot of stuff that I miss during the week. When something falls through the cracks, I'll try to catch it in this blog.
Today: Hating Edge Magazine?
Some controversy this week in regards to Edge Magazine giving Killzone 2 the kiss of death, don't touch this piece of trash game rating of...7 out of 10?
Wait, what?
Yep, you read that correctly. Edge Magazine (which is not really a Magazine at all anymore) gave Killzone 2 a 7/10 rating and sent the fanboys into a tizzy. You think I'm joking? How about this comment from Edge reader Dave_Dude:Killzone 2 has a 9.4 average on GameStats so far out of 70 reviews! So suck on that long and hard Edge Magazine you bunch of attention whores!
That's not even the most extreme comment. Reader Barla Von said Pulling a stunt like this could seriously damage their readership numbers. The magazine isn't gaining respect for giving the game a lower score as most here see it as an act of stupidity.
It's not the fact that they gave the game a 7, but the fact that everybody knows it's complete and utter bullshit, as other journalist will testify.
Can we all calm down for a moment? First of all the rating system the last time I checked was a 10 point system. Edge didn't give the game a two (2) and they didn't say they'd rather have their eyeballs sucked out of their toes with an abortion machine then play this game again. They said the game was good, the graphics were beautiful, the online multiplayer was what you'd expect and the story was nonexistent.
And for that they deserve to be called a horse shit operation that wouldn't know quality games if someone slapped them in the mouth with a copy of Ocarina of Time? The real problem with Edge's review isn't that it is not fair, it's that we live in a world where video games are either given an 80, a 90, or 100. Somewhere along the line we lost sight of how to rate things, and suddenly games that are fun to play and have any semblance of a storyline get a 100 without much else provided.
Someone should have told Edge Magazine that rating a game out of 10 possible points is not acceptable anymore. A 7 out of 10 is reserved only for those games that deserve to be burnt in a pile of feces outside the developers house in the off chance that he catches the plague for trying to shovel this garbage down our throats. A game with no storyline but great graphics should get at least a 9, and if there is a deathmatch option in multiplayer probably an 11.
The other problem with this review is that it's based off something that none of these commentators have had the opportunity to play. Remember Edge got themselves in some hot water from their review of Resistance 2. Sony fanboys came out of the woodwork to trash the site as deplorable nonesense because they have the audacity to call the game anything less then perfection. Of course as soon as those same people had the chance to play the game they did so, for minutes on end until they realized that it was a major disappointment for the hype machine that was set up behind it.
How can you possibly think that Edge is stupid for their review when you haven't even played the game yet? The problem with all of these commentators is that they're fans, not objective observers. As someone who reviews games I can testify to the fact that it's a daunting task. You know that fans of a game with a built in fanbase will eat you alive if you don't say their game is the greatest thing since sliced bread (what was the greatest thing before sliced bread?). If your review doesn't live up to the hype that someone else had in their mind for a game, before they ever had a chance to play it, then they'll crucify you and call you a moron.
Of course the problem is an institutional one, somewhere along the line we started handing out perfect scores to games that weren't perfect. After that giving an 80 to a broken game that sucked didn't seem like that big of a deal because every month we're giving someone a perfect score. In essence we as reviewers and writers created the environment where readers feel like we're trashing something they love because we found fault with it. This is due in large part to us rarely finding fault with anything.
But does Edge Magazine deserve to get crushed for a review that rates a game on the low end of great (or the high end of better then average)? At the very least I'd like these people to actually play Killzone 2 before they fall into the old -- IGN loved it so it must be good mindset.
