The Verbal Submission 04.07.09: Torres Impresses, Dana White Explodes!, Diaz vs. Shamrock, and a New Celeste?
(04.07.2009)
Oh Dana White, you've got some 'splainin' to do! Fresh off a weekend filled with beer and broads, I bring you the latest MMA news. WEC 40 went down on Sunday and that main event was a barn burner! Speaking of burning barns, and bridges, Dana White is a man with plan, and that plan ended horribly. Plus, should Lashley compete on TUF? Who's to say! All this, and a beautiful lady with the last name Celeste, but it's not Arianny! Come on in! |
 |
The Verbal Submission 03.31.09: Lashley vs. ?, UFC 101, Maia's NEXT, and Daisy of Love?
(03.31.2009)
There are two big ZUFFA events this week and in this column I discuss neither of them! There's tons of other important stories to discuss including the awesomeness that is reeking from UFC 101, Bobby Lashley's quest for another fight, Demian Maia vs. Anderson Silva on the horizon, and more! Plus, what former TUF contestant is getting ready to compete for the love of a hooker? It's a surprise! All this, and midgets. Nuff said. |
 |
The Verbal Submission 03.24.09: Dana Hates T-shirts, Tito on CBS, King Mo Reigns, and Arianny fights?
(03.24.2009)
It's the second week of the video experiment as I attempt to bring you the latest MMA news in video form. This week's top stories include Dana White giving you the lowdown on his Affliction feelings, King Mo's before and after Sengoku shenanigans, and Arianny Celeste talking about throwing down! All this, and Bobby Lashley showed Jason Guida EXACTLY how his brother Clay likes to fight. Here we go! |
 |
The Verbal Submission 03.17.09: IT'S A VIDEO EXPLOSION!!!
(03.17.2009)
Join me won't you as I take a look at the week that was in MMA courtesy of web video! I've got prediction videos, web series, interviews, horrible vlogs, and mind boggling commercials. There's everything from Arianny Celeste frying up breakfast to Mark Coleman shaving Wanderlei Silva. Plus, I actually manage to squeeze in some news. That's what it's all about, isn't it? News and Logan Stanton's breasts. I love this sport! |
 |
The Verbal Submission 03.10.09: Rampage Rolls, Shamrock is Old, THQ Bankrupt, Hughes at 185, More
(03.10.2009)
UFC 96 finally answered the question: How many times can Machida get screwed out of a title shot? Short of killing Tito Ortiz with his bare hands, I don't think it's happening. Also in the MMA realm, an old man prepares to face a much younger, stronger man. Plus, Matt Hughes wants to fight at 185? And he wants to fight for the title? Did Jesus tell him to do this? When will Jesus learn that's he's just not Joe Silva. None of us are. |
 |
The Verbal Submission 03.03.09: Brown is Legit, Akiyama is Not, MOspace, and UFC 96 Chatter
(03.03.2009)
The WEC never seems to disappoint! Unless of course you were live for that Hicks/McCullough disaster. Sorry Texas! The rest of the card was damn good! Also in this week's column, is the UFC's signing of Yoshihiro Akiyama worth it just for the extra pub in Korea? Doubtful! And when is Cain Velasquez fighting again? What's going on in Joe Lauzon's life. Kids, kids, I've got all the answers you need in one place! |
 |
The Verbal Submission 02.24.09: MMA in PA, UFC 97 Back on, Koscheck Cries, and More!
(02.24.2009)
You can't please all of the people all of the time. You can, however, still elbow someone in the face in Montreal. Pennsylvania is down for that too! Hooray for capitalism! This week's VerbSub is also chocked full of newsy goodness, my briliant opinions on UFC 95, and a commentary on fighter websites. This week I skewer Brian Bowles' website. Why would I do this? Why not!?!? |
 |
The Verbal Submission 02.17.09: Canadian Rules, Weight Cuts, and Shamrock Fights a Fatty
(02.17.2009)
The world of MMA becomes more and more bizarre with each passing week. Canada wants the UFC to do away with elbows and knees. Ken Shamrock is beating men twice his weight. Roy Jones Jr. is promoting MMA shows. What's next? New York approving of MMA? Bas Rutten fighting midgets? Mike Tyson promoting hearing aids? I hope all of those happen, but for now, you might as well as read this column. |
 |
The Verbal Submission 02.10.09: Fight Night Thoughts, Future for Strikeforce, and War Machine's Ranting
(02.10.2009)
I've returned with stories of far off lands, and I've brought spices and silks from these lands. Actually I spent two weeks enjoying the flu and food poisoning, but I got to watch some sweet fights in between trips to the can! Today's column focuses on Fight Night 17, the Strikeforce acquisition of poorly run ProElite organization, Leben's new gym, Penn's retirement rumors, and ramblings from a buffoon. It's the Verbal Submission. It's fresh. It's new. It's full of pretty pictures and shiny videos. What else do you want? |
 |
The Verbal Submission 01.20.09: Obama-less Thoughts on UFC 93, WEC Cerrone vs. Varner, and Affliction DOA
(01.20.2009)
I have a dream that one day the UFC will put on a show where two former champions will fight for three rounds and then an eye poke will ruin everything! I have a dream that one day a T-shirt company will put on their second show and the main event will last longer than :36 seconds. I have a dream that Urijah Faber vs. Jens Pulver will deliver a bout as exciting as their first. It's fun to dream. |
 |
The Verbal Submission 01.13.09: Huerta's Adios, Fedor Rings in 2009, UFC 93 Preview, The Kimbo Machine, More
(01.13.2009)
This past week was chocked full of MMA news! UFC 93 is coming to us from the Land of the Rising Potatoes. Roger Huerta is off to Hollywood to chase after hopes and dreams. Fedor travels to Mordor with Elijah Wood. Kimbo Slice has his very own boxing machine that you can buy with real money. I swear to you. I'm not making any of this up. OK, maybe the Elijah Wood thing, but you never know with that Fedor! He's crafty. |
 |
The Verbal Submission 01.06.09: Lashley Signs with PFC, UFC Matches Galore, Sengoku Running, and What is XARM?
(01.06.2009)
2009 is upon us and UFC fighters are already drunk and out of control. You know what else is out of control? All these fight announcements! I can't keep up! Along with exclamation points, I've got a firm stance on all these "top ranked" fighters on the Japanese MMA scene. Plus, look out for XARM! Yeah! Who wants some XARM? There's also some passing thoughts on the women of the Palace Fighting Championship. Come on in and read! |
 |
The Verbal Submission 12.30.08: Rampage Wins!, Couture vs. ???, and Logan Stanton Pics
(12.30.2008)
We are days removed from the biggest MMA show of the year, and I'm still all tingly. I might have had too much egg nog over the holidays. That stuff is addictive. Along with my opinions of UFC 92, I've got a column chocked full of Dana White Vlogs, Arlovski boxing (which is nothing like foxy boxing), and Gary Shaw is trying to return to your TV. We must stop him! All this, and two pics of new UFC ring girl, Logan Stanton. Oh yeah, she's a girl. I checked. |
 |
The Verbal Submission 12.23.08: UFC 92 Preview, Arlovski 360, Tito Cosell, and Fights!
(12.23.2008)
It's the last Verbal Submission before Santa Claus sneaks down your chimney and leaves every season of The Ultimate Fighter under your tree. What a guy! I've also got my highly suspect thoughts on UFC 92: The Ultimate 2008, Andre Arlovski's foray into the world of web video, Tito Ortiz keeping that spotlight firmly planted on his giant head, and more! So get some hot cocoa, throw some chestnuts on the open fire, and calmly read my personal brand of insanity. |
 |
The Verbal Submission 12.16.08: Big Weekend Review, MMA Reality Shows, and The Octagon?
(12.16.2008)
With the holidays approaching, the UFC gave us two beautifully wrapped gifts this past week. One show featured horrific injuries. One show featured solid action and quick knockouts. Somewhere in Florida, a young boy's dreams came true inside a cage via doctor's stoppage. Also, there's a new MMA reality show on the horizon, and MTV is going to the "MMA well" one more time. All this, and does Chuck Norris have a history with the Octagon you're not aware of? |
 |
The Verbal Submission 12.09.08: Double UFC Preview, BooYaa Bye-Bye, and Never Surrender?
(12.09.2008)
Welcome back to the one column at 411Mania that never fails to something, something. In this week's Verbal Submission I give my thoughts on the upcoming Fight for the Troops and The Ultimate Finale. Will the winning coach have gatorade or urine dumped on him? Also, I found a trailer for the movie, Never Surrender. I can't begin fathom who greenlit this trainwreck. All this, and I find the time to take a verbal poke at Clay Guida. |
 |
The Verbal Submission 12.02.08: WEC 37 Preview, Kimbo in K-1 and Where's Cung Le?
(12.02.2008)
December has arrived and it's going to be a ZUFFA Xmas after all. The first offering arrives Wednesday night with a highly touted bantamweight title match. I've got some thoughts on that plus Kimbo in K-1, the MMA unemployment line grows, and what's all this jibber jabber about Cung Le? I've also got some wishes for 2009 pertaining to the UFC. Who wants a chubby BJ...Penn? |
 |
The Verbal Submission 11.25.08: Strikeforce, Fitch Re-Signs, Fedor Declines, and the Brock/Kimbo Comparison
(11.25.2008)
Today's Verbal Submission is packed with news, views, and interviews. I've got my thoughts on the latest offering from Strikeforce, a voice of reason for Jon Fitch, plus thoughts on possible future opponents for Anderson Silva and Chuck Liddell. I wrote this column while in great cranial pain. Some will say it's my best work. Others will say it's mediocre. I won't judge you. |
 |
The Verbal Submission 11.18.08: UFC 91 Delivers, Affliction Quivers, and a Letter to ESPN
(11.18.2008)
So you think you've read everyone's opinion on UFC 91? Wrong! You think Affliction is on wobbly legs because of their recent squabbles with the Coutures. Wrong! Should ESPN finally cave and let MMA LIVE air on real TV? Right! I also have pictures and videos pertaining to mixed martial arts. Enjoy! |
 |
The Verbal Submission 11.11.08: UFC 91 Preview, Fake Tito Interview, and Carano-y Goodness
(11.11.2008)
It's another nerve wracking edition of the Verbal Submission. I'm previewing the EPIC match-up between "The Natural" and "The Next Big Thing". Plus, "KenFlo" takes on "Daddy". There really are some awful nicknames in MMA. Plus I'll give my late thoughts on WEC 36, clue you in on the whereabouts of Gina Carano, and I sit down in my head with Tito Ortiz. He's a swell guy. |
