And we're rolling... - 02.27.2006

Wow, reading the "this was a great PPV" posts weren't lying. Pride 31 provided a summation to all that is MMA: upsets, ground wars, 10 second KOs, freak injuries, hearts of gold, and complete dominance.

- Zentsov over Rizzo, KO, 0:25 of Rd1

Go for a kick and get knocked out in the first exchange... disappointing but it happens. Is Rizzo done? It's not like you can say this was a real test so we'll see what opportunities await him.

- Rampage over Yoon, Decision

Am I seriously the only one that noticed the announcers fapping over Yoon? Rampage absolutely dominated this fight outside of maybe 10 punches and two failed submissions. Yet the announcers were saying ridiculous things like "Yes, Rampage has dominated on offense but Yoon is equally dominate on defense." Really Bas? "Rampage is gassed while Yoon seems to be fresh"... yeah, I'd been laying on my back on the couch for an hour and I wasn't gassed either. Something about throwing 200 punches makes you a bit winded while laying there and taking them doesn't. Really? I'm the only one that noticed this?

- Werdum over Einemo, Decision

Just as one sided as the previous bout atleast Einemo proved he wouldn't be submitted by the submissions expert. Werdum didn't even seem to try to submit him, rather going with GnP and standup. Impressive showing by Werdum and with Kharitonov's loss it'll be interesting to see where he ranks post-show.

- TK over Sperry, KO, 1:20 of Rd1

Who doesn't love TK? He gets 5 appearances on the Best UFC KOs DVD (and not the good side) and yet he always hangs in there and punches. Rocked early on he simply backpeddled and took him down. When he had the chance to mount he got up and wanted to fight.... KO ensues. Great showing by TK, the man has heart. Sperry on the other hand, while an amazing fighter and trainer, should consider it a career at nearly 40.

- Overeem over Kharitonov, TKO, 5:13 of Rd1

Wow... come to find out Kharitonov might have seriously injured himself one minute into the fight but that doesn't make it any more amazing. Watching him take those knees over and over was almost sickening as I'm a huge fan of the Russian. He seemed like he was taking it like a man looking for a way out until he turned his face towards the knees almost begging for a ref stoppage. Gutsy performance and at such a young age he'll certainly be back. Overeem, on the other hand, won't be as respected with the injury but he still had one hell of a dream fight and he'll be shooting up those LHW rankings any time now. I'm guessing if you call him he'd ask to fight Liddell again.

- Barnett over Nakamura, submission, 8:10 of Rd1

What a heart on Nakamura just starting the trail of amazing Japanese warriors. Put in a heel hook Nakamura didn't tap.... reminding me of Bas Rutten once announcing that a real warrior shouldn't tap from that move as you're in no danger of longterm injury and should just work through the incredible pain. Nakamura might only have a couple of non-decision wins but his heart shines through the most in this fight. Barnett on the other hand better pray he gets an easy open weight GP draw.

- Big Nog over Tamura, submission, 2:24 of Rd1

Anyone not see this coming? I felt bad for Tamura, it's like having an anaconda wrapped around your body.

- Coleman over Rua, injury, 0:49 of Rd1

Okay, I understand a bit of the celebration following Silva and Ninja entering the ring... HOWEVER, does that excuse you from climbing turnbuckles and patting yourself on the back for an incredibly lucky win. He continues to babble on as he goes backstage about how no one believed in him... that's like playing poker against Phil Ivey and drawing out J-J on the turn and river to get three of a kind. Coleman got lucky, end of story. No one in their right mind believes he could beat Shogun if they started fresh and healthy. I hope to Christ almighty we get to see Coleman vs Silva in the open weight or out of it... that's a slaughter in the making. As I've said on the forums, Coleman is the anti-Couture. Older veterans with amazing pasts, poor records, and will take on anyone... except Couture is humble and polite. I lost respect for not only Coleman but Randleman, Baroni, Rampage, and anyone that would talk to him after such a disgusting act. Wow, you broke a guys arm on accident in 40 seconds, you sir are the greatest fighter in the world. Or as he'd say "I DID THIS FOR MY DAUGHTER! FUCK YEAH! FUCK YEAH! THAT MOTHER FUCKING FUCKER!" Class act... atleast with this win he'll be cocky enough to think his roided body can fight some more... atleast enough to let Silva burst that odd roid bubble over his ear on the way to an easy KO win.

- Hunt over Nishijima, KO, 1:18 of Rd3

Wow... you can't say you've ever seen a fight like that. I'm really confused as to Hunt's stamina and pain in that fight.... I thought he was acting but at times he looked incredibly tired. No one thought the fight was in jeopardy but he certainly didn't finish like many thought he would. I picked Nishijima as a crazy random upset pick because I'd seen him box and knew he wasn't easy to KO. Nishijima can take pride in knowing his country loves him and he put out one hell of a fight. Hunt on the other hand (while he is a showman) needs to realize he wouldn't try those double knee drops against Fedor. I respect the hell out of both of these fighters (or atleast the genes that Hunt's parents gave his chin) but it was almost as if Pride wanted Nishijima to die in the ring. UFC would have stopped that fight 264 times before Pride did.... Nishijima earned every drop of respect in me but he shouldn't have been put in that awful position.
And we're rolling... - 02.01.2006

Former 411 and IP writer Smilo.

*discussing the order of fingers we'd use should we slowly gain rings from 1 to 5*

Smilo (9:27:04 PM): i get that the ring finger is first and thumb is last but what are the order of the other championships
Smilo (9:27:10 PM): i think id go ring, pinky, middle, index
Me(9:27:29 PM): yeah I'd go ring, middle, index, pinky, thumb
Me(9:27:45 PM): cuz the thumb isn't a finger
Me(9:27:48 PM): just kinda hangs there
Smilo (9:28:05 PM): its got use
Smilo (9:28:13 PM): its more like the one girl in a group of guys
Me(9:28:25 PM): oh its very necessary
Smilo (9:28:27 PM): its not really capable of high function but having it you can do things you cant otherwise do
Me(9:28:30 PM): just not the same as the bond the others share
Smilo (9:28:35 PM): and all the other fingers want to be touching it
Me(9:28:44 PM): cuz the thumbs like "without me you can't pick shit up" and the other fingers get all jealous. Like the thumb is Kobe and the fingers are the other Lakers starters
Me(9:29:53 PM): cuz like they all match up with the thumb, the index is like saying "a little bit", the middle makes a great shadow puppet, the ring does the Matt Hardy V 1 sign, and the pinky shows the number 3
Smilo (9:30:37 PM): hah
Me(9:30:55 PM): like if you stick them up, the pinky and ring look gay, the middle is insulting, and the index is pompous saying #1
Me(9:30:58 PM): but everyone loves the thumbs up, its an American icon
Me(9:31:13 PM): Fonzie man
Smilo (9:31:23 PM): ring looks gay?
Me(9:32:51 PM): if you stick it up by itself
Smilo (9:33:08 PM): i disagree
Smilo (9:33:11 PM): its more like a fake-looking middle finger
Smilo (9:33:20 PM): like it looks like it should be offensive at first
Me(9:33:30 PM): so it has low self-esteem and copies the middle
Smilo (9:33:45 PM): i guess
Me(9:34:22 PM): I'm taking this too far aren't I?
Me(9:34:24 PM): once I get on a roll....
Smilo (9:34:38 PM): yeah calm yourself
And we're rolling... - 01.28.2006

No livejournal, no myspace.... I have had girlfriends that posted half naked pictures of themselves for the attention of emo nerds to up their self-esteem. But never one I could call my own.

....

I'm really not good at this. I'm supposed to like list what I'm listening to and how I'm feeling right? I can handle that:

Music: None.
Emotion: :

....

What now? I'm going to finally watch the movie "M" tonight .... that'll cut my "Watch all the all-time classic movies" list down to just 3.

Uhhh, I ate some chicken spaghetti from Macaroni Grill earlier... it was pretty delicious but I could do without the vegetables in pasta.

Yeah, that was worth the time.
