411Mania's Squared Circle News Report 12.19.09
Posted by Dustin James on 12.19.2009

Welcome back inside the Squared Circle! How is everyone doing this week? I'm doing splendid seeing as this is the 40th edition of "411mania's Squared Circle News". However, it also happens to be the last edition as well. You see, I'll finally be making my long awaited return to 411's MMA Zone after a brief hiatus elsewhere!

I got my start with the MMA zone a few years ago and it lead me to bigger things. However after a few months, it felt like I lost my passion for writing about MMA because it started feeling like a job rather than a fun hobby. Therefore after much deliberation, I decided to return to the place where I got my start in hopes of recollecting that magic.

Since I will be dedicating as much spare time as possible to the MMA Zone, I will be hanging my boots up as far as this column is concerned. I'm sure you will see me pop up in the Wrestling Zone from time to time, so until that happens.....you will have to find someone else to hate.

Anyways........

For one last time............

LET'S GET IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!

Biggest News Of The Week:

Bret Hart Returns To The WWE?......

Is he really returning????......

In what could be the BIGGEST news of the year, Bret Hart is rumored to have signed a contract with the WWE and is expected to debut on the January 4 edition of RAW. His contract is expected to end on April 10, which is right around WrestleMania time. The reason I say "expected" is because no one really knows what the hell is going on right now. While there are all sorts of rumors flying around, no one is confirming the news seeing as both parties (Hart and the WWE) are trying to keep it a surprise. However, it's almost impossible to keep a secret now a days with leaks and the Internet and everything else.

I actually kind of wish it was kept a secret because I would have LOVED to have been watching RAW when this went down. Imagine Vince McMahon coming out and cutting a promo about Bret Hart. The whole IWC would be shaking their heads in unison thinking "Geeeeezzzz, not AGAIN!", then all of a sudden....Hart's music hits and SON OF A BITCH, the "Hitman" is in the ring beating the ever loving crap out of McMahon. I'm pretty sure heads would have blown all over the place. Even those that were watching TNA's "Impact" special on Spike would have heard the news by then and flipped channels. If that happened, that would destroy TNA's chances of ever hoping to go against the WWE full-time. Let's face it folks....

Bret Hart > Hulk Hogan

For those of you who have been following my column, you know that I'm a hardcore fan of Bret Hart. I grew up watching the WWE during the heyday of the "Bret Hart years". When Hart was "screwed" by McMahon at the 1997 Survivor Series, I honestly never thought he would return. Why should he? Why would you want to work for an employer who basically made you look like a fool on TV and broke your trust? Sure, you got to spit in his face and punch his lights out, but there's something called "pride" that Hart had to deal with. For YEARS he refused any opportunities to return to the WWE. McMahon came knocking on his door plenty of times over the last few years, however Hart continued to stand his ground.

I think the best chance for a Hart return on TV was in 2006 when he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Usually the inductees do appear at WrestleMania the next day, but once again....Hart stood his ground and refused to appear on TV. This action lead to another nice little heated confrontation with Vince McMahon the next day which I personally believed slimmed down the chances of a Hart return even more. But that supposedly may be coming to an end. The WWE may once again get blasted by the "Excellence of Execution" and I can't FREAKIN wait!

OK, now it's time to dwell into some possible storylines for Hart's return. We all know that he will be involved in some sort of angle with Vince McMahon, that's a given. But will the two actually compete in a wrestling match at WrestleMania or will it will be like McMahon vs. Trump where they both "back" a certain wrestler? I honestly can't see them wrestling each other seeing as Hart is partially paralyzed after suffering a stroke in 2002. In a perfect world, we would get a Shawn Michaels heel turn and McMahon would back him while Hart would back "insert anyone who needs a push and would be good in a program with Michaels". Imagine a confrontation between HBK and "The Hitman"! It would just be incredible....

It's just crazy. If Hart indeed returns to the WWE, it will perhaps be the craziest thing we have seen on WWE television since Eric Bischoff came out and hugged Vince McMahon. PLEASE let this piece of news be true. If there was ever ONE guy I would love to see return to WWE TV, it would be the "best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be".......

Remember These Guys???

Mean Street Posse

First of all, the Mean Street Posse were the shit. I just thought I would get that out of the way first. Whoever's idea it was to hire Shane McMahon's good buddies (Rodney & Pete "Gas"), put sweater vests on them, and make them pompous as hell...is a damn genius in my book. While Rodney and Pete "Gas" were never actually wrestlers, that was never a huge deal because the WWE brought in Joey Abs (probably the greatest wrestling name ever....) to help the group become somewhat tolerable in the ring, and it was all good from then on!

Actually, the Posse were only in the WWE for about a year before being sent down to Memphis Championship Wrestling so they could learn how to work in the ring. However, that never actually happened and the Posse were released from the WWE in 2001. In the end though, the Posse got the last laugh seeing as they are rich and don't actually have to work anyways.......

Here's the Mean Street Posse vs. some tag team that never really made it in the WWE....

Random News Bits:

- Chastity (a former valet in ECW) will be appearing in the upcoming porno movie entitled "Tiger's Wood". I post this news here only because the title "Tiger's Wood" cracks me up.....

- Ric Flair is still really close to signing with TNA. The hold up seems to be that Flair wants a guaranteed contract with Panda Energy and not TNA. You know, in case TNA has to fold. This is a brilliant move by Flair. It's what we experts call a "back-up plan". If TNA does have to close it's doors (and if they decide to go head-to-head with RAW every week....the chances are highly likely) then Flair will still get paid and still be able to be that stylin, profilin, limousine riding, jet flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin n' dealin, SON OF A GUN! WOOOOOOO! But, PLEASE man, I beg you....don't wrestle!

- Kevin Nash is reportedly trying to utilize what little power he has by trying to convince Mark Madden to come into TNA to replace Taz. Hmmmm, Nash involved in backstage politics, Hulk Hogan coming into "save the day", possible return of the "Monday Night Wars"....1997 called, they want their year back. But seriously, I can't even begin to describe how stupid of a move it would be for TNA to replace Taz with Madden. So watch for Madden to make his debut on Impact sometime within the next few weeks......

- Shawn Michaels recently conducted an interview and mentioned that he will be taking four months off in the summer time to spend with his family. Good for Shawn. For all the wrestling deaths we have experienced over the years, it's good to see someone like Michaels has a good head on his shoulders and knows he should take some extended time off to give his body some rest. Perhaps more wrestlers should take this approach. While I know a lot of them are afraid to "lose their spot" if they take time off, overall it's better for their health to spend less time on the road.

- There are still currently no plans for Bryan Danielson (SHOCKING isn't it?). As of right now he's chilling in Las Vegas and training at the Xtreme Couture gym ran by one my personal heroes....Randy "THE F'N NATURAL" Couture! Danielson just because THAT much cooler in my book!

- The WWE has signed Ricky Steamboat Jr. to a developmental deal. He will be heading to Florida Championship Wrestling, however don't expect him to spend an extended amount of time there. He's supposedly pretty damn talented and will likely be on RAW or Smackdown in no time. Perhaps he could debut as a member of Legacy after turning on his father? Imagine that....a Steamboat as a heel! Hell will have froze over~!

- Booker T has been telling anyone who will listen that he will be returning to the WWE at the Royal Rumble and will likely be on the RAW roster. If Booker T is telling the truth here, this could end up being some excellent news! While I was never a huge fan of Booker's, I joined his band wagon when he picked up the "King Booker" persona. There was just something about that gimmick that I just loved. Hopefully the fact that he's telling people he will be returning at the Royal Rumble is a sign that he will once again....be the king of the WWE!

- Apparently Maryse posted a spoiler (GASP~!) on Twitter and no one from the WWE picked it up. On December 11, she sent Chris Jericho a message that said "bye bye Monday Cowboy". For those of you who can't put it together.....she sent Jericho that message two days before he was set to lose his tag titles to DX. In the end though, Maryse won't be punished because she's so damn beautiful and beautiful people should NEVER be punished! However, they should have pictures of them in skimpy clothes posted on the Internet, soooooooooo...........

- Jim Ross has officially signed a new contract with the WWE! This is great news for WWE fans seeing as they had to act fast with TNA trying to break down JR's door. JR is expected to be back on television around WrestleMania time and I can't wait. The man is my all-time favorite wrestling announcer for a reason folks. BOOMER SOONER~!

- This may not really be "news" per say, but has anyone seen who the villian is in the trailer for Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr.? Why yes......it's THIS man:

KURRGAN~!!

Kurrgan (otherwise known as Robert Maillet) has a nice little movie career going for himself. Not only did he appear in this movie, but he was also pretty bad ass in 300. Whoever would have thought that a member of The Oddities would go on to have a career in movies? Not me.....

- During a recent interview with 99.9 KISW in Seattle, CM Punk had the audacity to say that Hulk Hogan would not help the TNA product and that the "Hulkster" is only out for himself. How DARE YOU CM PUNK! How dare you have the nerve to say that Hulk Hogan is only looking out for himself and that he doesn't care about the future of TNA and TNA's young stars! What kind of evidence do you possibly have to back up this sort of ludicrous statement? Hulk Hogan is an ICON in the sport of professional wrestling and is a role model to kids all over the world. He would NEVER pull such a horrific move just to better his own career. I really don't think CM Punk even knows who Hogan is....perhaps some one should educate the man?

- The Briscoe Brothers recently had a few tryouts with the WWE and reportedly really impressed the company. Now they are just waiting for a deal to be offered, and ROH is well aware of the whole thing. What can you do though if you are ROH? WWE has unlimited resources to throw at a team like the Brisoce's. If you are ROH, all you can really depend on is loyalty. Don't be shocked to see the WWE offer the Briscoe's a contract real soon.......

- WWE Hall of Famer Iron Shiek recently appeared on the Hit The Ropes Radio Show. Shiek is always a great interview and this time he discusses his dislike for Hulk Hogan and how he feels that Hogan is only in TNA for himself (Oh no....not the Shiek too!!!). I suggest you listen to the interview right here.

(Credit goes to The Wrestling Observer for the above news!)

YouTube! Find Of The Week!

Will this man destroy TNA? The answer is.....yes........

And that's it for in the wrestling zone! Remember, don't be a stranger and make sure you check me out in the MMA zone. I'm sure I'll be tearing up that place again in no time.

Until then you can still find me on Facebook! & Twitter. If you have a Twitter account, I suggest you follow me seeing as I'm one awesome dude.

PEACE OUT!

Plan for Bryan Danielson

Release a series of video packages hyping the arrival of "a man honing his abilities the world over to be the best professional wrestler" or something like that.

Show one of the videos before a Miz match. Then after the Miz wins by cheating, have him cut a promo of how hes tired that some new scrub is riding his spotlight, and next week he will put the title on the line in a welcoming match.

Then when Danielson debuts the next week have The Miz just start laughing and calling him and albino. Danielson then just takes him down and throws on cattle mutilation instantly submitting him. The move is unique to most of the audience and is somewhat impressive looking. It also gets the move over early.

Alternatively it can be a non title match, setting up a natural feud down the line as Miz builds heat and Danielson gets over. When it comes to a boil put the belt on Danielson

Just an idea. But of course that would involve a serious push behind a young talent, which the WWE shies from.

If you saw Smackdown (and I assume this column was finished before it aired), a Bret Hart return seems a tad more likely now...

Enjoyed the column, best of luck in the MMA Zone (not a big fan but I keep up with the roundtables and reports and all that).

Who is taking over this gig, do you know yet?

What's your source on there being no plans for Danielson? (Just curious, not doubting you or anything). I read elsewhere (a random wrestling site I've never heard of (but the again all I ever read is 411)) that he is officially on WWE payroll and will skip developmental, and is expected to debut relatively soon.

"This action lead to another nice little heated confrontation with Vince McMahon the next day which I personally believed slimmed down the chances of a Hart return even more."

Could someone expound on this? I've never heard about it.

I think the one thing we can rule out for Bret (aside from an actual match, although a bump-free "fight" with Vince *could* happen) is a Commissioner/GM/Owner role cos I don't think either Vince or USA is wanting to drop the guest host trend just yet.

I'm not a religious guy, not in the least, but I'm happy for Shawn that he found something, anything to get his life straight. I think if he hadn't he wouldn't be here today.

Let me guess: Danielson is sitting around because "Creative has nothing for him." Yeah, cos a debuting guy calling himself The Best Wrestler in the World, declaring himself more technically proficient than anyone EVER in WWE, wouldn't draw immediate heat, especially with the smarts in the crowd getting behind him.

Punk, unlike Shiek, didn't demand that Hogan suck his cock.

This was my favorite column! You'll be missed. Gozzo wishes you luck in all of your future endeavors.

ROH can offer the Briscoes a guarantee that the ROH tag division is essentially ruled by the Briscoes with an iron fist. It may not compensate for large sums of money, but if the briscoes still want to continue being big fish in a small pond because of pride, then more power to them.

Bret Hart returning, a Posse reference and Maryse's ass all in one column? Best column ever.

Ya, but who is their source?

I find it puzzling that Danielson still hasn't surfaced in WWE/ECW/FCW yet. Maybe the jokes about signing him just so ROH doesn't have him are true?

I think if wrestlers were given time off they wouldn't get stale (Cena, rehab old injuries (Undertaker) and other wrestlers could get TV time. I think it's a smart move.
