The 411 Wrestling Top 5 3.24.10: Week 67 – WrestleMania Moments

March 24, 2010 | Posted by Michael Bauer

Hello everyone and welcome to 411 Wrestling’s Top 5 List. What we are going to is take a topic each week and all the writers here on 411 wrestling will have the ability to give us their Top 5 on said topic, plus up to three honorable mentions. Most of our topics will be based on recent events in the Wrestling World, looking at those events that make us think of times past.

So, on to this week’s topic…

WRESTLEMANIA MOMENTS

For the second Wrestlemania Preview on 411 Wrestling’s Top 5, we are looking back at the greatest moments of the greatest event in wrestling history. For as much as the matches make a Wrestlemania great, it is those moments, those pictures that get frozen for all eternity that make a Wrestlemania memorable. For as good as Hulk Hogan and Sgt. Slaughter might been, Wrestlemania VII will always be remembered for another match and for the events that occurred after that match.

So what did our group of writers select? Let’s find out…

Shawn S. Lealos

HONORABLE MENTIONS

WrestleMania III: Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage – first really great WrestleMania match

WrestleMania VI: Ultimate Warrior is passed the torch

WrestleMania XII: Shawn Michaels Fulfills His Boyhood Dream

5.WrestleMania VII: Randy Savage and Elizabeth reunite – The Macho King Randy Savage entered WrestleMania VII with his career on the line. While the match was great, it did more to make The Ultimate Warrior look like a superstar than help Randy Savage go out in style. The Warrior kicked out after five consecutive flying elbow drops. Five!!! But this moment is not about the match, but about what happened after the match ended. Savage had built his career with the beautiful Elizabeth by his side. She stood by him regardless of the abuse he inflicted on her. When the Mega Powers exploded, it was all due to Elizabeth. Then Savage kicked her to the curb and took Sensational Sherri as his manager. When Savage lost to Warrior, and was forced to retire, Sherri proved she was only out for herself and turned on him, beating him down. Then from the stands ran Elizabeth, who had been watching in the audience. While the retirement match itself was not as great as others, the post match celebration with Elizabeth was the perfect end to years of storylines. The once abusive relationship turned in a beautiful climax where, for the first time, Savage held the ropes for Elizabeth to leave the ring as he received a standing ovation from the tearful audience. It was the perfect conclusion to the Macho Man/Elizabeth storyline.

4.WrestleMania 13: Stone Cold Steve Austin becomes a star – Steve Austin was trying to find himself in the WWE. He had been fired and sent packing by WCW after being underutilized his entire stay there. Even a US Title reign and a Tag Team title reign were not enough to make Eric Bischoff see how special Austin could be to his company. Then Austin proved he was as charismatic as anyone in wrestling with his short stay in ECW. Austin then moved to the WWF where he became The Ringmaster, managed by Ted DiBiase, but he made a name for himself when he won the King of the Ring and insulted Jake “the snake” Roberts by saying “You sit there and you thump your Bible, and you say your prayers, and it didn’t get you anywhere! Talk about your Psalms, talk about John 3:16… Austin 3:16 says I just whooped your ass!”

Fans started to take notice of this tough as nails wrestler and began to watch him carefully. Bret Hart was the top baby face in the company at the time but fans were tiring of his sanctimonious attitude and holier than thou personality. Austin began to torment Hart, first eliminating him from the 1997 Royal Rumble after Austin had already been eliminated himself, and then later costing Hart the WWE Championship to Psycho Sid in a title match on Raw. Austin was the aggressor and Hart was furious with how many times Austin screwed him (that seems to be a theme with the Hit Man). This final incident led to their WrestleMania encounter, which Hart won. However, what makes this match special is the fans chose to turn their allegiances thanks to this match, not because of anything Hart did wrong, but because Austin refused to give up and passed out from the pain instead. He then refused help to the back and suddenly Steve Austin was the most popular wrestler in the WWE. It was the defining moment in the Rattlesnake’s career and changed the face of the WWE, ushering in the Attitude Era.

3.WrestleMania X8: The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan – Armchair quarterbacks complain this match was not that good. It was not a technical masterpiece and was not as fast paced and original as it could have been. I say: Who Cares? When Hulk Hogan reformed the nWo in the WWE, he was the same old evil leader of the pack he was in WCW, except for one important thing. Fans in the WWE love Hulk Hogan, whether he is a good guy or a bad guy. The Rock is the most charismatic man to ever step into the ring, but fans have loved him and loved to hate him over the years. When the good guy, The Rock stepped into the ring with the evil Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania X8, the fans made the easy decision. They were going to cheer Hulk Hogan at all costs. This might have screwed up a match with lesser competitors, but these men were the best of the best. They looked around and made an unspoken decision on the spot. Hogan immediately became the baby face and The Rock began to wrestle as a heel. It made NO sense. The Rock was almost killed by Hogan leading up to the match and Hogan was the total evil in this feud. But this is WrestleMania and the moment overshadows the lead in feud. If the fans wanted to cheer Hogan, far be it from The Rock to disappoint them. The match became a thing of beauty with the improvisations the two made and it goes down as one of the more special moments in recent WrestleMania memory.

2.WrestleMania XXIV: Shawn Michaels retires Ric Flair – I guess this moment is not as special as it was when it occurred, thanks to Flair’s return to the ring in Australia and now in TNA, but taken as a moment in time, it is one of the most special moments at any WrestleMania. No, Flair was not anywhere near as great in the ring as he was when he was younger, and I have grown tired of his overreacting in his later years, preferring his arrogance over his pomp and circumstance. But this feud, between the greatest wrestler of all time and the best wrestler in the world, was more than special. Shawn made sure he brought out the best in Flair and gave everything he had to make sure that Flair’s last match was something to remember. It got cheesy when Shawn paused before the final Sweet Chin Music, but I don’t care. I have followed Flair since his days in the Carolinas and this was exactly the way the man should have gone out. It was the biggest stage in professional wrestling and the ovation he got at the end was beautiful. It’s too bad the moment will not be Flair’s swan song to in-ring competition because it was the best “final match” I have ever seen.

1.WrestleMania III: Hulk Hogan body slams Andre the Giant – Hulk Hogan was the most popular wrestler in the world, a super hero in the ring. Andre the Giant was a legend. He was “undefeated” and was easily the most beloved wrestler in the entire sport. At the first Wrestlemania, Andre had a bodyslam challenge with fellow big man Big John Studd. When Andre lifted Studd and slammed him, the place went nuts. Two years later, Andre the Giant was one of the most hated wrestlers in the WWF, managed by the manipulative Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, and he dared challenge Hulk Hogan for the World Championship. As I mentioned earlier in this column, Hogan didn’t like people to challenge him, friends or not, and took it personally. Andre had to turn bad to get the match and that meant I was in Andre’s corner. But something happened to impress the hell out of me. Hulk Hogan lifted Andre and slammed him to the mat, setting up the leg drop for the win. When Hogan lifted the Giant and slammed him, my jaw hit the floor. WrestleMania III was one of the greatest of all time. The Steamboat/Savage match was awesome but the moment Hogan slammed Andre, the show became immortal.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Hulk Hogan Slams Andre the Giant – Since I already gave my (mostly) objective Wrestlemania Moments list in the Contentious Ten, I’m going to us this as an opportunity to post my FAVORITE moments. This doesn’t quite make it.

Guerrero & Benoit: Champions – One of the best ways to end a Wrestlemania, ever.

Michaels Destroys McMahon – Whenever WWE does something really stupid, I watch this match and it makes me feel better.

5.Shelton Benjamin is Spider-Man – I mark out a lot for little things; anything that I haven’t seen before, or that happens to be exceptional clever, and anytime a match or promo is truly great. But very, very rarely do I MARK LIKE A FREAKING SIX-YEAR OLD! However, watching the first Money in the Bank, which was already a fantastic match that was tearing the house down, and seeing Shelton Benjamin run up a slanted ladder to clothesline Jericho, seemingly out of nowhere, was amazing. The angle was great; Shelton jumps on screen, and for a split second you realize what he’s going to do, and then he DOES IT….absolutely freaking amazing. Second favorite Shelton Benjamin spot, the first being a few weeks after this when Michaels superkicked him in mid-air.

4.The Double Turn – I think I and some of my fellow staff members have thoroughly covered the Bret-Austin doubleturn and it’s impact on professional wrestling. However, it’s still one of my favorite moments. If the image of Austin’s blood streaming down his face and into his teeth as he screams from pain trying to escape the Sharpshooter, yelling “NO!!!” everytime Shamrock asks if he quits, only to pass out rather than give up doesn’t get to you, I just don’t know what to say.

3.Undertaker Wins World Title – This is totally personal and needs explanation. I was watching this with family and friends, and ONE guy, who was a bit of a mark, was totally, 100% convinced that Batista would beat the The Undertaker. For the record, he also thought Mark Henry at Wrestlemania 22. Anyway, it was about a six-to-one with the rest of us cheering Undertaker; we barely heard the commentary because every time Batista did something, he talked smack, and everytime Taker did something, we’d talk smack right back. I’ve NEVER had so much fun watching a match. Undertaker winning the World Title after a five-year drought was pretty special too, and the match was great.

2.Austin’s Heel Turn – Not just the end, but the in-ring build-up. Everything Austin does in this match, from the what, to the when, to the how, builds to the eventual alignment with McMahon. Steve was more vicious in this match than he’d been in years: attacking before the bell, hitting the Lou Thesz Press seconds in, undoing the turnuckle pad, raking Rock’s face with his knee brace, attacking him with the ring bell, choking him in the ropes, and of course, not hitting McMahon so he can hit the Rock Bottom. The eventual turn was still shocking but made perfect sense afterwards, and the sickening final flurry of chairshots was a great way to finish the match. Not a perfect, flawless match, but perfect, flawless storytelling.

1.Randy Savage & Miss Elizabeth Reunite – Plain and simply, my favorite moment in Wrestlemania history. The entire Randy Savage Saga is one of the best examples of longterm booking in wrestling history, and this was the apex, the climax. Everything in the Macho Man’s WWF career built up to this one, glorious moment. Call me a sap, I don’t care. It’s impossible for me not to get a little emotional when I watch this. Amazing booking and I can’t be cynical watching it. That’s no easy feat for me.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Brock Lesnar nearly kills himself- Wrestlemania XIX – This moment came in what was a great match between Kurt Angle, the WWE Champion, and Brock Lesnar, the #1 contender. The finish came when Brock hit an F-5 and went to the top rope to try and hit a Shooting Star Press. He missed, and landed on his neck and head. The fact that he landed on his head, didn’t die, finished the match with another F-5, and won the title speaks volumes about Lesnar, and is worthy of being mentioned.

Ultimate Warrior gets passed the torch by Hulk Hogan- Wrestlemania VI – This moment came after a great match put on by the two men. Hogan had kicked out of the Huge Splash at 3, and then took the title and presented it to Warrior and shook his hand. Sadly enough, Warrior would leave the company less than two years after winning the WWF Championship, and make a couple comebacks here and there. This moment stands out in my mind because it was really the first time that Hogan put someone over at Wrestlemania, and it was huge, although not quite enough to make the top 5.

Shawn Michaels fulfills the boyhood dream- Wrestlemania XII – This was a great moment where Shawn Michaels finally won the WWF Championship and truly marked his place as a top-tier guy in the WWF. He had had a great previous year as the IC champion, and winning this match fulfilled his dream of being the top guy. The only reason it is not on the list is because the Top Five are slightly more memorable, in my opinion.

5.Shawn Michaels retires Ric Flair- Wrestlemania XXIV – This was the moment where an era of wrestling truly died in my opinion. The last great wrestler of the eighties and nineties was retired, and wrestling would never be the same again. It was a great match that was supposed to be Flair’s last match, but even though that turned out not to be true, it still represents an end of an era and is worthy of being on the list.

4.Hulk Hogan bodyslams Andre the Giant at Wrestlemania III – This was a huge moment at Wrestlemania III in front of over 93,000 people. While this wasn’t a great match from a technical standpoint, it was a huge moment for the crowd, as they didn’t believe that Hogan could slam Andre. He did, and it remains one of the greatest Wrestlemania moments ever. The only reason why it is not higher is because Andre was bodyslammed before, so that knocks it down a bit in my eyes.

3.Randy Savage and Elizabeth reunite at Wrestlemania VII – This moment came right after a grueling retirement match that saw the Ultimate Warrior end the career of the Macho Man. Of course, Queen Sherri was none too pleased about being out of a job, so she started laying the boots to Savage. All of a sudden from the crowd, we saw Elizabeth run in to the ring and chase off Sherri. The look on Savage’s face when he realized that Elizabeth saved him, then when he lifted her on his shoulders, and then, as she had done so many times for him, and when he opened the ring ropes for her, make this a no doubt choice for the list.

2.Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit embrace at Wrestlemania XX – Say what you will about Benoit, and trust me, all fair points, but this was one of the greatest Wrestlemania moments ever. Benoit had worked for eighteen years to be the top guy, and he finally achieved his dream. Eddie Guerrero had retained the WWE Championship earlier, and came down to celebrate with his friend. Again, say what you will, but for a few minutes, all the “fake” left pro wrestling and you saw two best friends celebrating being champion (and deservedly so) with confetti raining down on them. The only reason why it is not number one is that recent events exclude this moment from being so.

1.Stone Cold Steve Austin passes out in the Sharpshooter at Wrestlemania XIII – I rate this moment #1 for several reasons. It made Stone Cold over with the fans. Sure, his Austin 3:16 promo let everyone know who he was, but this moment (and match) made him resonate with the fans. It also provided the double turn, with Austin going face and Bret heel. The fans began to grow tired of Hart and his whining. Also, this moment revealed Austin’s never-say-die attitude that made him so popular, and kicked off the Attitude Era, arguably the most popular era of wrestling history. That is why this moment is the greatest moment in Wrestlemania history in my book.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Molly Holly, Hardcore Champion, Wrestlemania X-8 – Silly as all get out, but that clunk as she blasted Hurricane with the frypan still makes me smile.

Christian, Hardcore Champion, Wrestlemania X-8 – As does that beautiful moment when the half door slammed right in her face, and we just saw some legs before the big reveal.

Pete Rose, San Diego Chicken Take 1, Wrestlemania XV – It might be a crappy Wrestlemania by most people’s accounts, but dammit, seeing Pete Rose get revealed as the Chicken was funny and, more importantly, showed a level of continuality that I just LOVE.

5.Austin Shakes Hands with the Devil, Wrestlemania X-7 – He needed it. He had to be WWF Champion again, he had to be on top. He had lost so much time, so much momentum with his neck, who knew how long he had? He couldn’t risk not doing it, he HAD to be Champion. And that he became…

4.Shelton-Man, Shelton-Man, doing whatever the hell he wants… Wrestlemania 22 – In a spot that I’ve never seen hit in the video games, Shelton flawlessly ran up one ladder and clotheslined Jericho off another. Simple, logical, and jaw droppingly brilliant. You don’t need much sometimes.

3.Savage and Liz Reunite, Wrestlemania VII – Sometimes it can be Shakespeare, kids. Savage, after losing the retirement match, gets turned on by Sherri since her meal ticket is gone. Liz saves Savage, the two embrace and… Excuse me, I have something in the woman in the blue dress’ eye…

2.HE SLAMMED HIM!, Wrestlemania III – Look, on any rational list, this moment has to be at the top. It’s only pure selfishness that I have it here. But the most memorable moment of the most memorable match in history? Yeah, that’s a moment.

1.HEEL F’NG TRISH, Wrestlemania XX – I have only truly MARKED LIKE A FREAKING SIX-YEAR OLD, as one of my colleagues put it, once. It wasn’t for a Taker return, or for a title win, or for any major physical moment. You can keep your emotional embraces, your ends of an era, your births of legends. Just give me Trish turning heel, becoming 10X more hotter before your eyes, and hooking up with Christian. This is my favourite moment EVER, not just at the big dance…

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Pete Rose vs Kane – To witness for 3 straight crazy years in a freakin row, an actual mini-storyline that involved disgraced ex-baseball manager Pete Rose not only getting beat up by the monster Kane…BUT then actually trying to get revenge years after…in a chicken suit…funny and memorable stuff!!

Benoit and Guerrero hugging in middle of ring – At the moment as a HUGE fan of both of these since their WCW days, I felt their emotion during this here. Still great to remember, but naturally hard to get over the post outside the ring tragedies behind it.

Shawn Michaels winning his 1st World Title – Awesome, awesome moment here after the grueling inaugual Iron Man match in which the future ring legend Shawn Michael kneeled down in the ring with the WWE belt as he achieved his “boyhood dream” and won his first World Title.

5.Savage and Elizabeth reuniting – I just rewatched this moment again recently and it still gets to me. To my little kid brain back in the day, the ultimate saga was with the whole entire soap opera between Macho Man and his main girl Miss Elizabeth. From the Hogan drama to being managed by Queen Sherri, I hung onto every crazy moment of the saga in my wrestling-watching youth. So at the end of this match in which Savage seemed to pour his freakin heart out only to lose to Warrior and be retired, it was emotional to see his main girl Elizabeth come back into the fold after being apart from Savage to help out and reunite. It was definitely a sight to see with Savage smiling like a little kid holding up Elizabeth in the air.

4.Michaels superkicking and retiring Ric Flair – “I’m sorry…I love you”. Sure these words may sound mushy. Sure Flair may actually be not fully retired today. And sure the actual match wasn’t the greatest in the world. But damn these reasons cause this exact moment here was one of the best Wrestlemania…and hell overall wrestling moments that I’ve ever seen. Ric Flair had done so much for wrestling as a whole and to “go out” on the biggest wrestling stage every year at Mania by one of the other future Hall of Famerers in Michaels was a sight to behold.

3.Austin bleeding and passing out to Sharpshooter – Simply put…bloody awesome. The bad-ass Stone Cold Steve Austin passing out in a pool of his own blood when locked in the signature and painful looking Sharpshooter by ring general Bret Hart was just pure awesome storytelling at its best.

2.Hogan/Rock Face-Off – This to me personally was the perfect moment when these two faced each other in the ring because it was my best memories of my wrestling youth with Hogan facing the best memories of my present at the time with The Rock. These two played off each other so freakin’ well and the sick, insane Toronto crowd at that year’s Mania took in every single moment to perfection. Picture-perfect sight here of these two great icons.

1.Hogan bodyslamming Andre – Do I really need to describe this here?!? To some, it’s just a silly bodyslame and to others it’s a very overrated moment. But to me and many others, this and this moment alone represents everything good about the spirit of Wrestlemania. Period.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Foley and Edge introduce Fire (22) – It was teased on Saturday Night’s Main Event and these two crazy bastards delivered at Mania when Edge speared Foley off the apron and through a flaming table. Most credit Foley for taking such a crazy bump, but realize Edge is the one that dove face first into a flaming table.

WrestleMania X-Seven – The entire show gets a nod because there was crazy shit all over the place at this show: Shane pulling out the Van Terminator, Edge’s Super Spear on Hardy, Raven getting tossed through a window, Austin shaking hands w/ McMahon, and countless others.

Eddie and Benoit Hug (XX) – The feel good close to WrestleMania that should have been one of those moments that everyone could smile about for decades later. Sadly, history has made this moment more tragic that anyone could have ever imagined.

5.Shawn Michaels retires Ric Flair (XXIV) – Naturally the “retired” stipulation didn’t last, but for a while Shawn’s “I’m sorry, I love you,” was one of the most emotional moments ever at WrestleMania. This should have been the perfect end to a one of a kind career, but Flair warned us all when he said “I’ll never retire.” Not that I blame him though because as long as someone is willing to pay him, he might as well do what he lives and get paid for it.

4.Hogan “Hulks-up” against The Rock (X-8) – Hulk Hogan came back to the WWF in 2002 and while everyone was drooling for Austin/Hogan, instead we got Hogan/Rock, and it didn’t disappoint. The match itself had the most insane heat you will ever see as Toronto was clearly behind Hogan from the jump. Things went absolutely batshit crazy when Hogan kicked out of the Rock Bottom and hulked up on the Rock. I dare anyone to watch that moment again and not be awed at the ability of Hulk Hogan to connect with a crowd. It was like everyone in attendance was 8 years old again.

3.“Stone Cold” bleeds buckets (13) – I watched this at a friend’s house and his mom was in shock that they would let a match get this bloody and violent. Everyone swore this wasn’t a normal blade job, and that Austin clearly fucked himself up. The match itself was easily one of the greatest you will ever see. The drama of Austin fighting the sharpshooter with blood pouring out his head and into his mouth is one of the most influential moments in history that many have tried (unsuccessfully) to duplicate.

2.Randy Savage and Elizabeth reunite (VII) – This was at the time when I would “watch” pay per views through the scrambled vision. I could hear what was happening and I was losing my mind with the thought that beyond the scrambled vision was Savage and Liz reuniting. When I finally got a chance to watch a copy it instantly become one of my favorite moments in wrestling history. It boggled my mind that Randy Savage went from being booed out of the building at the start of the match and at the conclusion when he lost his career he became more over as a face than at any other time in his career.

1.Hulk Hogan slams Andre the Giant (III) – I was a 6 year old boy sitting in my grandma’s kitchen hiding from this match because I was afraid what would happen to my hero, Hulk Hogan. My parents yelled for me to come back to the living room and I watched the replay of Hulk Hogan doing the unthinkable in my mind: He slammed Andre the fucking Giant. This is easily the greatest moment in WrestleMania history as it was the most talked about moment in what was the biggest match in the history of the business.

Chad Nevett

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Chris Jericho kicks Shawn Michaels below the belt, WrestleMania XIX – The post-match hug was good, but Jericho kicking Michaels in the groin made it better.

Bret Hart beats Stone Cold Steve Austin, WrestleMania XIII – Just a fantastic finish and more of a moment for what came out of it than what happened at ‘Mania.

Shawn Michaels retires Ric Flair, WrestleMania XIV – Great moment, very emotional, but lessened by Flair’s return to the ring for me.

5.Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero celebrate in the ring, WrestleMania XX – This happened during the time where I wasn’t watching wrestling much and, being a WWF fan growing up with only the odd WCW show watched, the two men winning world belts and celebrating in the ring together lacks a personal emotional connection. However, even without that deeply personal connection, it’s hard not to be moved by two guys who worked their asses off both reaching the top of the company on the same night and celebrating in the ring. Two guys whose in-ring work deserved to be rewarded like that both having it done together is rare and touching.

4.Shawn Michaels wins the WWF Championship, WrestleMania XII – While I’m a Bret Hart fan, Shawn Michaels going over an hour with Hart to finally win the WWF Championship is hard to deny as a great moment. The build to the match really sold the idea of this being Michaels’s dream and he sold it in the ring after. He genuinely looked touched and honoured, though I imagine very tired after the match. It almost didn’t happen, because the match simply could have been a draw, but that tease made it more powerful and worth it.

3.Hulk Hogan slam Andre the Giant, WrestleMania III – It’s hard to think of Hulk Hogan as the underdog in any match, but he was against Andre the Giant. Despite Hogan’s great strength, how could he beat a man of Andre’s size and power? Well, Hogan proved it at WrestleMania III with a moment that is remembered by so many people outside the wrestling community that it’s easy to see why this moment more than any other springs to people’s minds when they hear ‘WrestleMania.’ Hogan slammed the Giant and proved that the impossible could be done.

2.Bret Hart beats Yokozuna, WrestleMania X – You don’t often see a group of people come out to celebrate a victory anymore, but this victory deserved it. It didn’t look like Hart would win. He lost to Yokozuna the year before, he lost to his brother Owen earlier in the night, and Lex Luger lost to Yokozuna that night as well. Yokozuna looked unstoppable, but Hart managed to win the WWF Championship for the third time and, after the match, Luger came out and congratulated him along with the rest of the faces from the locker room. It was a rare moment of a victory being big enough that it deserved a big celebration and, being a Hart fan, it was great to see his accomplishment given that honour.

1.Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth Reunite, WrestleMania VII – If this doesn’t bring a lump to your throat at minimum, you have no heart. Part of what made Randy Savage work was Miss Elizabeth. Even when he was a heel, you still liked her, and, by associated, you kind of liked him. When Savage split from Elizabeth, that made him an even bigger heel than ever, teaming with Sherri, becoming the Macho King, and, eventually, costing the Ultimate Warrior the WWF Championship. In a ‘loser retires match,’ Savage and the Warrior both put on one hell of a show, but the Warrior walked away with his career intact and, surprisingly, the Macho Man was no more. Sherri took her frustrations out on Savage and Mizz Elizabeth, in the crowd, couldn’t take it anymore, running to ring to rescue her man. Their reunion was touching and brought the house down. Savage may have lost his career (temporarily), but he got the love of his life back. He went from being hated to loved and walked away a winner in defeat.
