The Piledriver Report 04.08.10: The Greatest Match in WrestleMania History Tournament- Championship Results

The tournament is over. A champion is crowned! Before the final result is given, I would like to bring up a couple of things that I need your with. I’ve been thinking long and hard about next year’s tournament. Next year will be the 10th Anniversary of the closing of World Championship Wrestling and Extreme Championship Wrestling. I’ve been thinking about having a tournament that would determine the greatest wrestler from the losing sides of the late nineties wrestling war. The only wrestlers that are eligible for the tournament are those that have competed in WCW or ECW from 1995-2001. My first question is should I have all the WCW wrestlers on one side, and all ECW wrestlers on the other side, thus guaranteeing an ECW vs. WCW final? Or should I have the wrestlers sprinkled throughout the regions regardless of the federation they competed in?

The second Comment I would like to hear from everyone has to do with the controversial decision of leaving Hogan vs. Andre WrestleMania III match off of this year’s tournament. Out of curiosity, I would like everyone to vote one more time. Hogan vs. Andre or the winner of this tournament. This isn’t to say that if Hogan/Andre wins, they will be declared the winner of this tournament. I’m just wondering how this match would fare after all of the Comments asking for the inclusion of Hogan/Andre. Sorry to give everyone so much homework this week, but I would greatly appreciate comments on both of my issues.

One again, I would like to thank everyone who has voted thus far. I have received 967 e-mails/comments voting on the tournament. For the finals, I received 148 votes. This is the most votes ever received for, not only the final round, but for the entire tournament in the history of the tournament. I am extremely grateful to all of you who voted. Thank you again.

Along with the results, I will be including how many votes each wrestler received in parenthesis. I will end the column with the wrestlers I had picked to win in the Championship round.
