Fabian El Gitano RIP

March 17, 2011 was a sad day in the world of Lucha-Libre, CMLL luchadore Fabian el Gitano was found dead in his home. The news has been slow to leak but from the looks of it Fabian el Gitano has been murdered. Police have yet to release if there are any suspects or the reason behind the murder.

UPDATE
It appears that the cause of death has been changed. Apparently it was a Pancreatic Hemorrhage that was the cause of death. Authorities do believe that there was some sort of incident or fight that occurred in Fabian El Gitano’s home, but the cause of death was a Pancreatic Hemorrhage. If that was brought about due to the incident is still uncertain.

Fabian el Gitano was a mainstay in CMLL’s lower to midcards, once wrestling as Metro. His biggest feud came on July of 2010 when he lost his mask to Angel de Oro.

Back to the Minis! 03/11/2011

The stakes were immensely high *see what I just did there?* for Virus and Demus 3:16, and unfortunately for Demus 3:16, he’s headed back to the Minis division, and with a haircut! The match had more than one stipulation, first off, the winner would be the leader of Los Cancerberos, the loser would get their hair shaved off and if that wasn’t humiliating enough, the loser would also have to go back down to the Minis division. Although Demus 3:16 had been on quite a roll since winning his way out of the Minis division earlier this year, the leader of Los Cancerberos was just too much for him!

Currently the members of La Generacion Dorada are the holders of the CMLL World Trios Championship, La Mascara holding the CMLL National Lightheavyweight title and La Mascara holding the CMLL World Super Lightweight title.

Escorpion gets a haircut 03/14/2011

Escorpion might be a good Rudo, but he found out Technico Loco Max was way too much to handle. Arena Pueblo was the location where Escorpion took on Loco Max, the loser was set to lose his hair. The crowd was heavily on Loco Max’s side, and in the end he came out victorious. The fans were so appreciative of the match that was put on that they threw money into the ring.

CMLL Homenaje a Dos Leyendas 03/18/2011

CMLL’s first big show of the year has come and gone. First off the surprise of the night saw Black Warrior announce his return to CMLL and that he will be returning to the ring to participate on La Gran Alternativa.

In the co-main event Averno defended the NWA Historic Middleweight Championship against Mascara Dorada. Mascara Dorada was the heavy favorite to win, especially seeing as how successful the other members of La Generacion Dorada have been. Unfortunately for him, Averno was able to retain the title due to a low blow. Black Shadow ran into the ring and attacked Averno after the match and left him unmasked.

The main event of the card saw Brazo de Plata aka Super Porky, and Maximo take on the team of Texano and Terrible. The rudo team won the last fall when Texano pinned Maximo.

AAA News

AAA 03/13/2011

Many things happened in AAA this past week, before Rey de Reyes AAA had one last show. First off we have new AAA Mixed Tag-Team Champions, Fabi Apache and Pimpinela Escarlata lost the title to Alan Stone and Jennifer Blake. The win did not come without any controversy as el Hijo del Tirantes attacked Faby Apache’s knee.

The mole that had penetrated the ranks of La Milicia was revealed to be the Luchadore formerly known as Billy Boy, gone is that person, in his place lies the new Bizarro, Billy el Malo. The new Bizarro teamed up with Charly Manson and Taboo to take on Los Maniacos who partnered up with el Zorro. Los Bizarros ended up with the victors on this one, and Zorro ended up chasing after someone wearing the old “cursed” Zorro mask.

Dr. Wagner Jr. and the Psycho Circus were set to face members of Los Perros del Mal who would team with a mystery partner. In the end el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Damian 666 and Halloween were joined by former and apparently new Perro del Mal member Lizmark Jr. Wagner and the Psycho Circus came out on top, but that didn’t stop Los Perros del Mal from giving them a beatdown in the end.

Heavy Metal and Electroshock have tied their best of 5 series. Heavy Metal won the Bull Terrier match due to a lowblow on Electroshock. After the match los Maniacos proceeded to beat on Electroshock, with the last match set for Rey de Reyes, one of the two will be losing his hair.

In the Main event of the card, El Mesias, Joe Lider and La Parka took the win against the Bizarros, Cibernetico, Escoria and Nygma.

AAA Rey de Reyes 3/18/2011

AAA and CMLL both held their big shows on the same day. In AAA’s show, Dr. Wagner Jr. and the Psycho Circus took on Perros del Mal members El Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Damian 666, Halloween and their myster partner, a returning Super Crazy! The match was said to be a huge brawl and in the end el Hijo del Perro Aguayo pinned Dr. Wagner Jr. for the win.

Heavy Metal and Electroshock held the final match of their best of 5 series. Heavy Metal took the win with the match being a three falls Bull Terrier match. After the winn Konnan and members of La Sociedad ran in an attacked both Luchadores.

The AAA Megachampionship was on the line when el Zorro defended against Charly Manson. Although Charly Manson was supposed to be Zorro’s greatest nightmare, it didn’t come into fruition for him as Zorro was able to take the win and retain the title.

The surprise of the night definitely had to be the finals for Rey de Reyes. L.A. ParK, el Mesias, Carlito and Extreme Tiger faced off for the Rey de Reyes title. L.A. ParK and el Mesias brawled outside the ring and were counted out. This left Carlito and Extreme Tiger in the ring, which saw Extreme Tiger taking the win and the Rey de Reyes sword.

La Voz/The Voice

Is it me or does Extreme Tiger gets push harder by AAA than Aerostar? I have no idea why AAA doesn’t make Aerostar the face of the brand. He has everything, a cool gimmick, great image, great performer,he’s always been over with the crowd. I always wanted to see Mistico vs. Aerostar, maybe it will happen in WWE someday.

Do you think Wagner/Mesias Triplemania match better than everybody favorite match of 2009 Taker vs. HBK at Mania(the first one)? I thought Wagner and Mesias was better in every aspect. Mesias is so underrated, he is a great wrestler.

Don’t knock Extreme Tiger for his popularity, Aerostar and the rest of La Real Fuerza Aeria have been given their time to shine! Let us not forget that Aerostar was even booked with Faby Apache, helping her out in her war against Billy Boy and Sexi Star, while he may be popular he just hasn’t been able to get himself as over as Extreme Tiger. As a performer he has been good but he takes a lot of extremely reckless dives. As far as Aerostar in WWE, unless WWE buys out AAA, I don’t see it happening.

Damn, now that is a hard question! I think that match definitely took the crown for brawl of the year, but match wise, maybe it was edged by Michaels and Taker by just a little bit.

Any word on El Zorro coming to TNA? I thought I heard he got signed

Posted By: christi (Guest

No word as of yet, for now he’s still the AAA Mega-Champion, last time we heard any news was the confirmation that he had signed, all he was waiting on was a date from TNA. Knowing that company they completely forgot they hired the guy!

Is Rey Misterio vs Psicosis considered 1 long feud or a bunch of small feuds between 2 great luchadors that happened multiple times in multiple years? Because i don’t know if any of their great matches will be on the list unless it is considered 1 long feud

Posted By: laparkinator (Guest)

Are you kidding me? The timing couldn’t be better!

My Top 10 Lucha Feuds/Matches
The List so far:
10. L.A. ParK VS. El Dandy: Box Y Lucha 2004 Match of the Year
09. Blue Panther VS. Villano V, The Ola Lagunera and Villano Saga
08. Rey Mysterio Jr. VS. Psicosis, The World Tour

While many of the feuds and matches that are on this list are on here due to pure hatred, mask vs mask bets, or hair matches, there is one Lucha-Libre feud that many consider to be among the best that Mexico can offer. Rey Misterio Jr. and Psicosis both started out in the Tijuana scene, both were trained by Rey Misterio, and both went on to international fame. According to Joey Styles these Luchadores would face each other over 500 times. Their never was any hatred, any blood feuds, on the contrary, both of these men have stated on camera that they are great friends. In the end it comes down to pure sportsmanship and each other trying to outdo the other, also known as competition. This world tour started in Mexico.

Psicosis already wrestling under that name, feuded with a young luchadore named Colibri. The feud would span all over Tijuana, even after Colibri would become Rey Mysterio Jr. Once the change occurred, the feud would go all over Mexico. Once in AAA Rey Mysterio and Psicosis would face each other for the WWA Welterweight Championship, in what many consider a classic.

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

This rivalry would also visit the land of the rising sun, as Rey Mysterio Jr. and Psicosis would face each other in a special attraction match during the 1995 Super J CUP. To say that Rey and Psicosis nearly stole the show would be an understatement.

Part 1

Part2

The rivalry between these two would cross the ocean, and would possibly peak at a small venue in Philadelphia, when Rey Misterio Jr. and Psicosis would meet in a ECW Mexican Death Match.

Part 1

Part 2

Both would go on to bigger fame, first travelling to WCW, where they would lose their masks, Psicosis to Billy Kidman, but before that losing it in Mexico to Rey Misterio Sr. Rey would lose it to Kevin Nash and Scott Hall in a tag match. Rey was scheduled to lose the mask to Psicosis before that, although the show never took place due to politics. Eventually they would leave WCW after its closure, travel back to Mexico for a brief stint, and return to the States where they would face each other in WWE’s ECW One Night Stand.

Rey would go on to achieve success in the WWE, Psicosis would find himself in Mexico where he currently is one half of one of AAA’s most popular Tag-Teams. While in the end one achieved more than the other, but if one did not have the other, it is questionable just how far and how much success either of the two would have achieved.
