Charly Manson’s Legal Drama

Well Charly Manson had a hell of a week to say the least. Charly Manson along with his assistant Adrian Lopez Reyes was arrested on Saturday April 23, 2011. Reports at first varied, word was that Charly and Reyes were looking for their vehicle when they went to a couple of police officers and eventually an altercation occurred. Charly and his assistant were arrested. Now there are variations to the story, another being that they believed the assistants had something to do with the vehicle having gone missing, one other variation is that Manson and Reyes were intoxicated and that is how the fight between them and the officers started. Apparently backup arrived on the scene and Adrian Lopez Reyes was shot in the leg.

What is known is that a fight indeed did occur. The officers had to be taken to the hospital, where one was attended to for a fractured skull. He was in intensive care. The other officer had to undergo nose surgery.
As of right now Charly Manson is in prison. Bail was denied, he is being detained under a felony offense. Right now it’s a possibility Charly will have to face up to 5 years of prison time with a maximum of 8 or 10 years.
What AAA has done about the situation? Basically nothing, they are of the opinion that we should wait until Charly releases his side of the story. In a way, I do agree with that. The police are notorious about being corrupt south of the border, I’ve seen my share of payoffs go down. Either way, Charly is in it deep!

A title changed hands in AAA’s show on April 27, 2011. This being the AAA Minis Championship, the champion at the time Octagoncito defended the title against Mini Psicosis. Drago was back in action when he teamed up with members of the Black Family: Dark Ozz and Dark Cuervo. They defeated members of Los Bizarros along with their leader, Cibernetico. Accompanying him was Billy el Malo and Escoria. After the match Cibernetico relayed to La Parka that Zorro wasn’t the only one with prophetic visions. Cibernetico saw a lot of pain in La Parkas future.

Angel de Oro gained points in the tournament by defeating Palacio Negro, but not without controversy. Originally Palacio Negro caused Angel de Oro to submit, the decision was reversed. This being because an illegal choke hold was utilized. Angel de Oro then took the victory from Palacio Negro.

Goto teamed with Volador Jr. and Hector Garza, their opponents were Los Guerreros de la Atlantida: Dragon Rojo Jr., Atlantis and Ultimo Guerrero. IWRG: Guerra de Empresas

IWRG held a Guerra de Empresas tournament on April 24, 2011. Basically what this is, is a team consisting of a promotion faces another team in an elimination tournament. There were teams representing IWRG, DTU, AAA, and Perros del Mal.

The tournament started with team DTU: Violento Jack and Paranoiko facing Team IWRG, Mascara Año 2000 Jr. and Veneno. As you read here last week, Violento Jack has turned on DTU, so it made sense for him to turn on his partner in this match, Team IWRG coming out on top.

Los Perros del Mal: Lizmark Jr. and Pirata Morgan, who had to sub for Halloween, faced the Juniors Team: Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. and Trauma I. Both teams were counted out.

Team AAA consisted on Pimpinela Escarlata and Nicho el Millonario. Their opponents were who everyone assumes to be Team UWA, Black Terry and el Brazo. Team AAA advanced with a victory in this match.
The end of the tournament was Team AAA vs. Team IWRG. As could be imagined, team AAA took the win in this tournament.

A Relevos Increibles tag match also took place in this show. For those who don’t know Relevos Increibles is Incredible Pairs, guys who wouldn’t normally team up get thrown in together in a tag match. Halloween, who was subbing in for Charly Manson, teamed up with La Parka to face the team of Cibernetico and Electroshock. La Parka’s team won after Cibernetico low blowed him in front of the ref.

The Main Event of the card was the four way match apuestas match. Current IWRG Intercontinental Champions Silver King, Ultimo Gladiador and Joe Lider put up their titles against the Psycho Circus, who put up their masks, Bestia 666, Damain 666 and X-Fly put up their hair, and finally Los Oficiales put up their mask. This was in a cage match, with the last two teams in the cage facing each other in the lucha de apuestas. In the end the Psycho Circus was left with Los Maniacos. Joe Lider tried to prevent Zombie Clown from leaving, he inadvertently hit Ultimo Gladiador, leading this to the Psycho Circus victory. At the end Ultimo Gladiador and Silver King turned on Joe Lider and Los Perros del Mal attacked the Psycho Circus.

La Voz/The Voice

I wish all of wrestling fans would pronounce TNA as the new face of wrestling and not that jersey shore knock off called WWE. But then again, this does not have anything to do with the topic. It is because I never make any sense.

Just commenting…

Posted By: Spencer Mallard (Guest)

Ok, no clue what this has to do with this column, but hell, I’ll dwell into it. My problem with TNA is that they keep working at being the alternative, yet they follow WWE trends and styles. ROH is an alternative because they emphasize the sport of pro wrestling. Chikara is an alternative because they are batshit crazy and emphasize on wrestling and insane gimmicks. TNA needs to get over their little identity crisis and decide what the hell they want to be. Lockdown was a good step though. Also, one quick thing, people are billing me as a TNA fanboy, or whatever you want to call it, where the hell did that come from? Obviously I’m the lucha guy!

another great article, and the IWRG is a sad thing they are not as avaliable as the other companies, and is sad because they are the first victim of the WWE arrival, and that samuray accident is terrible i hope he is fine, El Hijo del Santo and Blue Demon are to prideful to work with AAA or the CMLL again El Santo has legal problems with CMLL and throws garbage to AAA every day in his newspaper column, and Blue Demon has his NWA thing and he burned his bridges with CMLL,that forjando un idolo thing looks more confusing, how many points do they need? can they be eliminated? but well is just another CMLL try to raise his attendance, and L.A.Park make his best decision to join AAA, it was about time , he no longer has problems , has settled his isues with LA Parka, and he deserves some truly national exposre after his hard work, and the L.A. Park, name now mean more than LA Parka,

IWRG has limited availability unfortunately, but they do get some decent exposure. From what I can tell WarrirosX2000 Youtube channel seems to have constant uploads of all the IWRG shows that do air. At least we do get that.

According to reports, Samuray del Sol is going to be ok, he will be in a neck brace for a month, but to say it could have been much worse would be an understatement. According to reports I read, the issue wasn’t so much him going over the others, it would be that he hit his head on the rail that separates the crowd.
I don’t know if it’s pride or ego, but something keeps many of the top names away from the big 2. While at the same time Mexican promotors are notorious for being crooked as well. Unfortunately it’s one of those things where they would both benefit from each other, but ego’s and pride get in the way.

I hope the Forjando un Idolo spot helped out.

I totally agree that the L.A. ParK name now means more than the La Parka name, just goes to show you that it’s not the mask, it’s the man under it that makes the character!

One thing has been happening in the Mexican scene that really puzzles me.

Why has WWE been clobbering CMLL and AAA in the ratings? I know CMLL fucked up the Mistico rudo turn pretty badly, and I know that up until Konnan came back, AAA was TNA levels of awful, but I can’t imagine either promotion being worse than what WWE’s been putting out.

Are things really that bad? And if they are, do you think things look like they’ll be on the mend for CMLL and AAA?

Posted By: Asmodeus (Guest)

Ok obviously there are many theories regarding this. Rabidwolverine posted his response, and I agree with many things he had to say:

WWE is something new and it is extremely glamourous. The athletes are completely different as well, you can take WWE’s top guys, Orton, and Cena, and they look completely different then Mexico’s top guys, Ultimo Guerrero, Dr. Wagner Jr., and Cibernetico. Although guys like Cibernetico and El Mesias were picked up because of their look, which resemble a WWE Superstar.

My biggest complaint, matches. Mexico seems persistent in a 3 on 3 match, and they will not give that up. I’ve always said for a first time viewer it’s hard to understand what’s going on and who is who because there are way too many guys in the ring at once. Singles matches are more of a special occasion, but what better way to get to know a luchadore and what he can do? Also this obviously impacts storylines, which with CMLL booking right now is near non-existent. AAA always had more of an emphasis with titles than CMLL does, but who can blame them, AAA has their own titles, CMLL has CMLL World, Mexican National, NWA Historic, way too many titles! With such an abundance they seem to lose prestige.

Finally, production values, AAA and CMLL shows look like crap compared to a WWE show. I hate to say it, but it’s true. It can be compared to WWE being a Hollywood blockbuster, Lucha being a made for TV movie.

WWE is so popular in mexico because it’s see as something new and glamorous, and if you look a WWE wrestler almost all of them look muscular and like real Athletes, and if you look at someone like Super Porky you think he is any thing, except an Athlete, and even if it looks goofy for the U.S it looks like something more mature for the mexican public,

My Top 10 Lucha Feuds/Matches

The List so far.

10. L.A. ParK VS. El Dandy: Box Y Lucha 2004 Match of the Year
09. Blue Panther VS. Villano V, The Ola Lagunera and Villano Saga
08. Rey Mysterio Jr. VS. Psicosis, The World Tour
07. Villanos Vs Los Brazos, The Unmasking of a Dynasty
06. El Perro Aguayo’s Quest for Masks
05. Cien Caras VS. Rayo de Jalisco Jr. The 57th Anniversary show and the Birth of the Lucha Boom
04. El Santo VS Blue Demon: Two Generations and Still Going
03. El Santo VS Black Shadow: The Golden Age of Lucha.
02. El Hijo del Santo, Octagon Vs. Eddie Guerrero, Art Barr: When Worlds Collide

I may have just lost all my coolness points. This match is recognized the world over, it’s a 5 star match according to the Wrestling Observer, when people mention Eddie Guerrero matches this one always has to come up. All the participants are held in high regards, and truly this is one of the greatest Lucha-Libre matches in history, as far as I’m concerned, it’s not number 1!

Now, what many don’t know, this wasn’t just a great match, it was also a great feud, many don’t remember the buildup. That’s why I’m here! Now to get the full impact of the match we have to back in time and look back at quite a few things.

Art Barr aka Love Machine turned Rudo during a Hair Vs. Mask match with Blue Panther. Barr’s second was Perro Aguayo, while Panther had Fishman in his corner. During the last fall, Barr setup Panther for a Martinete, which is illegal, it was a taunt, since previously Barr lost his mask by utilizing the Martinete on Blue Panther and getting himself DQ’d. Aguayo pushed Barr causing Barr to get DQ’d again. Barr and Fishman attacked Aguayo, causing a double turn as Barr became a Rudo and Aguayo a technico.

About a month later Barr teamed with Eddie and el Hijo del Santo to face Blue Panther, Fishman and Fuerza Guerrera. Barr removed Santo’s mask and put it on himself, attacking Eddie Guerrero and pointing to the mask he was wearing. He then placed the mask back on el Hijo del Santo, Guerrero proceeded to turn on el Hijo del Santo. A week later la Pareja del Terror was formed, shortly after Los Gringos Locos.

In July of 1994, La Pareja del Terror won the AAA Tag Team Championship from Octagon and el Hijo del Santo. The rivalry had heated up and the next stop was When Worlds Collide. Now there have been disputes regarding the match, many say there were problems backstage at the PPV, that originally this was going to be an Eddie Guerrero Vs. Hijo del Santo hair vs. mask match. In the end we had this.

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Now why is it number 2 when many will disagree with me? Well for one, this is an opinionated list, I have one match that I prefer over this one. Eddie Guerrero himself felt the match, while being great, was a tad overrated. Don’t believe me; pick up the book that was put out by WWE. Don’t get me wrong, this is a fantastic match and many will place it at number one, I’m not trying to take anything away from it. At the same time many would place Santo Vs. Black Shadow at number one as well. In the end it comes down to personal preference.

Ke Monito Signing Off!
FR: How do feel about the placement of When Worlds Collide in our list Ke Monito?
Ke Monito: Damn, I’m a bit suprised, I wonder what’s at number 1?
FR: I’ll fill you in, Ultimo Guerrero Vs. Ke Monito!
Ke Monito: F**K YOU! You suck! I’m out of here!
