The Wrestling Framework 02.12.12: Frame's Top 10 Best Current Wrestlers
Posted by Aaron Frame on 02.12.2012
This week Aaron diverts from the usual course and breaks down the top ten best current wrestlers as he sees it. Who makes the list and who will be number 1? Click to find out.
Hey there readers, and welcome to The Wrestling Framework!
So, this week I'm just doing a quickie because this week was really, really busy for me. And this weekend I'm out in Moreno Valley for my monthly Air Force Reserves weekend. I'm sitting in a very nice hotel while I type this, so I'm not complaining.
I'm sorry I'm not giving you guys the usual classic awesome I usually do, but I've explained that. This week I'm going to talk in detail about my top ten wrestlers at the moment. So let's get to it.
10. BULLY RAY
Bully Ray has been a highlight in TNA since he went solo. I'm always very vocal, when I can be, about Bully Ray. The character he has evolved in to is perfect. The only question I have about Bully Ray is what does the future hold for him. Will TNA push him to the moon? Or will they continue to give him the Arn Anderson treatment? We all know Ray got his start as half of one of the best tag teams that has ever graced the business. From their brutal actions and controversial promo skills in ECW, to being a third of one of the greatest matches in WWE history, to helping make tag team wrestling relevant in TNA, you can't argue that Team 3D/Dudley Boys have made an unforgettable mark on this business. Right now, Bully Ray is being pushed in the main event, but only as an enforcer. They haven't made it clear whether he is a contender for the title. Or if he would even be booked as a credible contender. Right now, he looks like he could easily back stab Roode and take that title off of him. Then he could continue to destroy guys like Storm and Hardy. While Ray wouldn't be considered one of the best in the ring, he does carry a style that fits his build and personality to the dot. If and when they give Ray a shot at the title. I know he'll have no problems being a great champion.
9. CHRISTOPHER DANIELS
Here comes the backslash and I'm ready for it. I'm sure a lot of you are wondering why I would put The Fallen Angel ahead of Ray on this list. The answer is quite simple. Ray is in a secondary enforcer role in a main event storyline. Daniels is the brains and leader role of an upper midcard storyline. Of course, some will argue it being considered an upper midcard storyline, but I stand by my assessment. Christopher Daniels has once again made himself relevant in the world of wrestling. He's one of the few guys that can be pushed around in to bad gimmicks and run with them. He's also able to be off TV for a while and when he comes back, it's pretty awesome. Maybe not to the casual fan, but lets be honest, we all love to see Daniels come around. Daniels is good. He's damn talented. I've always been impressed with his mic work. Well, sometimes. He can be a bit hit and miss. But most other times he is damn good and able to make a lot happen with words. Whether he is face or heel, he always has great intensity and emotion behind what he is saying. Then once he has wowed you with his words, he backs it up with fantastic in-ring work. He is one of the guys that I will always be excited to see in a match because he rarely disappoints and he truly brings one hundred percent.
8. CODY RHODES
Rhodes is another guy who continues to impress me and rarely fails to entertain me. I have watched the evolution of his character and I am so glad he has been able to run his course. He has such a natural charisma that makes people pay attention when he shows up. While I think he still has a little bit to go before I would consider him a truly great promo guy, he still is able to cut one hell of a promo. And let us not forget that he is the current reigning Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion. Or, I guess it's just the Intercontinental Championship these days. The heavyweight part has been dropped for a while. I should get with the times. I don't think there is anybody else who could be as great with that title as he is now. If he had to drop it to go on to the world title picture, I would probably give the nod to Jinder Mahal or even Hunico to see what they can do with it. Lets not forget that Rhodes has improved by leaps and bounds in the ring, too. His work is one of the best that WWE has in the middle ranks. I think he could do great things when he is finally moved up to the main event. Think about Rhodes wrestling in a match against Daniel Bryan or CM Punk for a world title. Think of how awesome those matches could be. Unfortunately, Rhodes is stuck in some kind of limbo that has him in matches with people like Kahli. I hope the single out Rhodes and Gabriel for a feud because I think those two could make some magic.
7. AUSTIN ARIES
Aries is the greatest man that ever lived. He's one of four ROH alumni that is on this list. And he fits right in at number 7. While he is able to cut one hell of a promo and make the action inside the ring incredible, he still isn't getting as much time on TV as I would like. Guys like Aries and Daniels have paid their dues on the indie scene and it's definitely paid off for them. Aries especially. I still can't believe he was going to retire. This is one of my all time favorites from ROH. His natural ability to come off as a self centered douche is absolutely awesome. And not only that, but he's good at backing it up with the way he looks. His promos really have the effect on you that makes you want to hate him so much. Then when he gets in the ring, it's hard to not like him. He backs his talk up with phenomenal actions. Aries is one of the most gifted men to show up in the last decade. Whether it's talking or wrestling, he can control a crowd. And let's not forget that Aries is the reigning X Division champion. He's given new meaning to that title. At least for me, anyhow. And he's been the center point of some of the best wrestling on TV. I don't think Aries will still be around wrestling in the next five years. His time is coming that he should step back and maybe revive his manager role. He could be a really great mouth piece for a heel with no promo skills.
6. SHEAMUS
Sheamus has really been on a hot streak. He is beating the hell out of people left and right. Have you seen those clubbing forearms he does? Well, if you watch WWE at all, yes, you have. Those things look brutal, fella. Sheamus is, without a doubt, in a much better place than he was like three or four years ago. I think he has finally evolved in to the character and role he belongs in. Sheamus has the ability to be a flexible character without having to change too much. All he has to do is stop smiling, and start scowling again. Though I'm not exactly sure that he's as good as a heel than he is a face. He seems to have that Irish charm(does that even exist?) or something that makes him fun to watch as he's being a nice(ish) guy. And his little Irish anecdotes are kind of funny sometimes. More that they just don't make a whole lot of sense. Don't forget that the guy is built like a brick house. He is a big dude that is capable of beating his opponents with strikes or impressive slams. I love his move set. It's great for him. Sheamus wrestles like a big man, but he's not exactly a big man. I could do without the Brogue Kick, but I understand it's purpose. Basically that he can hit it out of nowhere. But, it's kind of lame. But I'm a huge fan of the High Cross and that back breaker he does. And that new move he used just recently was pretty cool. Excuse my lack of move name knowledge at the moment, I've had a long week. Lastly, I would also like to remind everyone that Sheamus is the 2012 Royal Rumble winner and has effectively been re-entered in to the world title picture. Here's to a great 2012 for Sheamus.
5. DOLPH ZIGGLER
I don't care what you say, I like Dolph. He has been able to take that next step in to the world title picture. He has had matches that show he can run with the championship. CM Punk and him have torn houses down. And the scary part is that Ziggler still isn't quite finished with his improvements. There is so much more potential with him, it's ridiculous. His in ring skills are among the best WWE has. Give him another year or two, and he'll be on par with Bryan and Punk. Mind you that Punk and Bryan spent years in the indies developing their styles and perfecting them. Ziggler has been in the business almost nine years. He didn't really get his chance to shine until about five years in. Punk and Bryan have been in the business for twelve and thirteen years. They have had the chance to really move around and get the chance to work with different styles and create their own unique styles. That's more than Ziggler can say. And look where he is now. The idea of Ziggler in the title hunt really has me damn excited because Ziggler can run with just about anyone and have a *** match. The one thing that I think he needs a little bit of help on is some of his promo work. He's got it down to a certain point. He can definitely pass off as a narcissistic asshole, but he doesn't have that great of a presentation with his words. I don't really know how else to explain it. Or possibly it's that sometimes I don't believe what he says. I don't feel the emotion behind it. Once he gets that part down, Ziggler will be the perfect show off.
4. JAMES STORM
Here's another guy that has blown me away as of late. When he won the title instead of Roode, I have to say I was shocked. I wasn't really behind the idea that he could be a credible champion. Then they took it off of him, as you all know. He, and amazingly the booking, has changed that view of him for me. I now see him as the true #1 contender and the guy who should be the one to beat Roode. I didn't think Storm was going to be able to break away from the tag team stigma like Roode did. I thought for sure that Storm was going to go the way of Marty Janetty, but damn I was wrong. And I'm glad I was wrong. Storm has always been a huge part of the TNA tag team division. Whether he was tearing it up with Chris Harris as America's Most Wanted or having some good ol' drunken fun with Bobby Roode as Beer Money, he was without a doubt a vital part of the division. And let's not forget that Storm has been one hell of a loyal company man. Did you know that he is one of three men that has continuously worked for TNA since it's first broadcast in June 2002? He is in that group with AJ Styles and Jeff Jarrett. And if you want a more recent example of why James storm deserves to be number four, take a look at how he was able to have TWO high ranked matches in ONE night. Both matches I could possibly rate ***1/2-***3/4. And I think he deserves to be where he is above someone like, oh, Jeff Hardy?
3. CM PUNK
Punk is an easy top five. But why would he be at number three?! Because I think he has become a bit of a one show horse. Don't get me wrong. I always listen when he talks and I generally enjoy it. But it's always the same thing. We get it, Punk. You're edgy and cool. You like to make the insider references and all that fun stuff. You like to come out and say what the fans want to hear you say. And that's cool. But maybe, just maybe, Punk could change up his presentation a bit. He always has that know-it-all way about him that's starting to get annoying. But, on the other hand, he's doing what he does best. He's always been a controversial talker. He's always had that "holier than thou" attitude when he speaks. Hopefully, with the incoming feud with Jericho, we'll see a much better Punk on the mic. Which reminds me. Think about Punk and Jericho in the ring. I know they have had matches before, but I'm still excited to see what they can do. Both of them always want to give it their all and try and out do past performances. I think they could really have a great feud both verbally and physically. Overall, I have to say that I like Punk where he is. He's a good WWE Champion. He can take on any challenger and make it entertaining. And I have to wonder if he'll still be champion going in to WrestleMania.
2. DANIEL BRYAN
Booker T's boy D-Bry. Why would he be at number two? Because he has really come in to his niche as the little ass he has become. And of course there's that whole vegan thing. Which, in my opinion, he could do a whole lot more with. Instead of focusing on the meat aspect, he should really go full on douche. Like that blonde dude from Scott Pilgrim. That guy was the epitome of vegan douche. And Bryan could learn a lesson from that. He needs to go more down the road saying he's a role model because he is the image of perfection that can only be achieved through the ways of veganism. Or something like that. Then again, I don't think Bryan is still quite at the full on heel mode point yet. I think he's still slowly, very, very slowly turning. I think the culmination of his heel turn will have something to do with AJ. That cute, poor little girl. She'll have her heart broke by Bryan making her do something or she realizes he is blatantly putting her in harms way. And I find myself really enjoying his promo work. It is LEAGUES better than when he was US champ. I think Bryan is one of those guys that really can only play one face role: the underdog. Sure, he can wrestle like it's nobodies business, but he can only go so far with being the happy-go-lucky underdog. I hope that the heel character that Bryan takes on becomes something to be remembered. But only time will tell what the deck holds for him.
1. HORNSWOGGLE
Screw you and your opinion and the obvious flames about my "credibility"! This is my column! So suck it! But, obviously, I'm only kidding...the real #1 should be obvious....
1. BOBBY ROODE
Without a doubt my number one pick for this list is Bobby Roode. Tone down your hate, kid, and think outside the box. Screw company affiliation. Bobby Roode has become something of an enigma. A better enigma than Hardy. He has been able to continue to look like a dominant champion while never winning cleanly. He's such a perfect chicken shit heel. It's almost baffling to me. I don't know why I'm so entertained by the way he wins matches and continues to think he's the high tom titty. Maybe it's the fact that he can actually put on a great match before he wins by dastardly means. Or maybe, it's because he really looks like he could dominate cleanly, but would rather cut corners. What heel wouldn't? And I know there have been many matches that he would have lost had there not been outside interference from Bully Ray. I can accept that. Roode has just become something I never thought he could when I watched him as part of Beer Money. When he got his BFG run, we all know what we saw. Roode definitely had that "it" factor. And everyone knew he was going to be the guy. Regardless of what some old husk of a once great wrestling face said. Hell, even he knew it. He just likes controversy. Without Linda, he has to make it himself. But this isn't about that spray-tan banana. No, it's about the reigning TNA Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode. And as of right now, I have him on my top ten because he has made the most improvement to become who he is now. And that, to me my friends, is just damn impressive.
And that will do it for me. I don't have a part hard gif this week because I don't want to waste one on this. Again, sorry about doing it this way. I'll try and make next week some kind of special. Until next week....do whatever you want.
i agree with you on 8 out of 10, but... i would rearrange the order abit!
but... anyway... good job!
this was a nice read!

i actually hope bully ray gets a title run!!!
hes blown me away... when he and devon split up i though both would just job until retiring but then, bully has emerged as one of the best active heels in the business!!!
his singles work is much improved and he gold on the mic!!!
i love roode & storm but bully is older & i hope he gets a title run before he retires!!!
all this is shocking to me because if you asked me a few years ago if i though bully would be a legit main eventer and one of the best heels period, i would have said your crazy!
but... bully has proved the world wrong! and as wierd as it sounds i almost feel like bully in his 40's is in his prime!

top 3:
1.Punk
2.Bryan
3.Aries
Aries would be above Bryan if he was featured more

Ziggler does not deserve be on the list, or any other list for that matter. I can't stand him.
Other than that, I pretty much agree.

I personally have only been disappointed with Roode's title run. I actually like Storm more.

I'd probably move Punk down to 8 or 9, but solid list nonetheless.

you just picked roode cause rock said something nice about him on twitter, dont lie.

Don't ever apologize, Aaron. I think most of us are happy with whatever you give us. I would not argue with your list, but in the spirit of things, I figured I'd toss in my 2 cents:
10) Dolph Ziggler
9) Davey Richards
8) CM Punk
7) Bully Ray
6) Christopher Daniels
5) AJ Styles
4) Cody Rhodes
3) James Storm
2) Daniel Bryan
1) Bobby Roode

While I think Bully Ray is great, I don't think he should hold TNA's title. He's a guy that should work with the top guys, but he's not the top guy. He'd be great as a delusional TV Champion who believes he's elevated the title to a higher worth than the World Champion, probably James Storm by that point. This is, of course, all while Ray cheats to win, or gets himself disqualified/counted out. You then build to a match between the two where Champion vs. Champion actually means something. Of course, TNA would give it away on Impact instead of using to sell a PPV because that's just how they work.

Wow, from this list I can't tell if you are taking TNA's dick in your mouth or ass! And Sheamus does not deserve to be on any list besides "the most boring uncharasmtic wrestlers today"!

ur both the same person.
Posted By: Guest#5196 (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 12:31 AM
Bryan Danielson/Daniel Bryan should be number one. He's head and shoulders over most of these guys, with Aries a close second, and Punk an even closer third. The only problem I have with Bryan is that I wish he could incorporate more of his original wrestling style into the WWE matches. Very few people could keep up with him, though, if he were able to wrestle the way he used to wrestle, so I understand why WWE toned him down a bit.

bobby roode is more of a tag team guy.

Davey Richards on a top ten best wrestlers list is a lol.
Posted By: Guest#6321 (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 12:44 AM
I'd personally have DB in the lower numbers. I just can't get into his heel turn that much.
I'd put Ray much, much higher. He's just fantastic at his role and is even having good matches. His stuff against Anderson, Abyss and James Storm have been much better than I thought.
I like Roode at 1. I think James Storm should be #3 he's the best face in mainstream wrestling right now. Yes I like him better than Punk. When he eventually wins the World title I hope he maintains the momentum but for some reason faces tend to lose a lot of steam in this day and age as champs for some reason.
Posted By: Guest#5527 (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 12:46 AM
me again
I like what Bully Ray has been doing, but would have Barrett over him at #10. The top 3 are close, but I would have Punk #1.
Good column

Pretty good list, but Punk should be number 1.
Posted By: Doc (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 01:30 AM
Dolph Is Great...every time he run towards the ropes and feigns bouncing hold on and struts I just see greatness in the making. Needs a new finisher though in my opinion. Would love to see him use some form of a suplex pin.

Good choices. But I didn't put guys like Davey in because, well, ROH isn't exactly viewed by millions. I'm a huge ROH fan, but they're not quite on the level of TNA and WWE. Yet.
Wow, from this list I can't tell if you are taking TNA's dick in your mouth or ass! And Sheamus does not deserve to be on any list besides "the most boring uncharasmtic wrestlers today"!

I tend to enjoy heel characters most. The coward type heel works the best, in my opinion. Sure, it's the easiest way to get heat, but it's a tried and true method. It still works. And works well. The two biggest companies have world champion heels that are cowards, that's proof enough, right? And why do I remind you of Kirk?

"The idea of Ziggler in the title hunt really has me damn excited because Ziggler can run with just about anyone and have a *** match."
You're excited because he can have an AVERAGE match with just about anyone? :) [hint: that's what 3 stars is on a 5-star scale]

Replace Daniels with Orton and Sheamus with Cena and i agree then.

surprised by how good this list is, very similar to what I would go for:
Honorable mentions - Miz, AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, Del Rio, Samoa Joe and Alex Shelley.
10. Bully Ray
9. Dolph Ziggler
8. Sheamus - on a roll lately and deserved the Rumble win.
7. Randy Orton - not the most technichal but consistently putting on good matches and quality feuds.
6. Cody Rhodes - has the potential to go even higher this year. Will be a world champ.
5. Austin Aries - someday I hope he gets a main event run.
4. Daniel Bryan - not his biggest fan but he is good as a heel champ.
3. James Storm - the chase has been well built up and he deserves a run with the title.
2. CM Punk - always entertaining on the mic and in the ring.
1. Bobby Roode - world title reign in a long time.

Great list! Bobby Roode as #1 is spot on. The only one I disagree with his Sheamus, I hate him he sucks and the only reason he's pushed is because he's HHH's butt buddy

Sheamus = The Boring White
Posted By: Guest#2520 (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 08:26 AM
Even though Sheamus won the Rumble... he really hasn't done ANYTHING for the past year except for destroy people every now and then. I don't feel he belongs here. He needs a real fued against someone, like how Edge had Cena, or Batista had Taker, or Rey had Eddie... he needs a mainstream fued or he's never going to get the momentum to be a believable champion/wrestler.
Ziggler is a machine, always puts on a good match (or 2 in one night), is developing a personality and has a heat machine in Vicki Guerrero.
That said, it's a good list, I just don't think Sheamus is 'there' yet.
Posted By: Banz (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 08:27 AM
Waaaayyyyy too much TNA...Punk should be #1 hands down...followed by Daniel Bryan...
Posted By: y2j420 (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 08:32 AM
When I first looked at the list, I said "WTF" to the lack of any ROH entries. But I thought the matter further, and realized that ROH really hasn't had anyone have the kind of banner year that would deserve inclusion on such a list. Yes, Davey Richards finally won the ROH title, but it was about a year too late. Also, based on what I've seen (and admittedly it wasn't as much as I would have liked), he's a step or two down in terms of performance from last year. I might consider Eddie Edwards, who really stepped up his game, but his run with the ROH title was very brief (3 months). Other than those two, no one else came close, as ROH was having a very down year overall, perhaps because it was in another era of transition, having lost Cabana, Homicide and Daniels (again), as well as Aries and Necro Butcher late in 2010. Also, the true highlight of the year, Kevin Steen, was relegated to run-ins.

Wow I'm honestly surprised. Roode is good and I think he's been doing a kick-ass job in the last few months but I'd never though you'd put him as number one over you know who.
Posted By: NotSoHeavyD2 (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 08:53 AM
Cool for TNA, that they got their very own Triple H! The real one would never happen, so they made a copy.

Great list! I'm not sure I'd change a single thing. Maybe switch them around a little but I think I'd keep the same 10. I'm not as big on Sheamus. I'd probably put him 10th. Jericho probably deserves a spot too.

And where's the best wrestler of 2011 Orton?

"But this isn't about that spray-tan banana."
Best thing in whole article, and the article is good!!!

Severe lack of Randy Orton on this list

Some of these comments really need to recognize that this is not boxing or the UFC where one can point to a resume of wins and dominant performances to make a pound for pound list. This is wrestling, which makes any top 10 list all about opinion and taste. With that being said:
10) Christopher Daniels
9) Austin Aries
8) Bully Ray
7) AJ Styles
6) CM Punk
5) Sheamus
4) James Storm
3) Cody Rhodes
2) Daniel Bryan
1) Bobby Roode
Posted By: Ronnie (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 11:33 AM
10) The Miz
9) Necro Butcher
8) Jame Storm
7) Bob Roode
6) Hornswoggle
5) Beth Phoenix
4) Jack Swagger
3) Cody Rhodes
2) Daniel Bryan
1) CM Punk

I do not mind the list, however want to point out that "Irish Charm" does not mean what you think it means.

People need to chill out this is wrestling. Top 10 lists are more like a top 10 actors list, but you're treating it like it's a top 10 NFL list. Just relax.
10) AJ Styles
9) Davey Richards
8) Bully Ray
7) Sheamus
6) Christopher Daniels
5) CM Punk
4) James Storm
3) Cody Rhodes
2) Bobby Roode
1) Daniel Bryan

Replace Bully Ray and Dolph Ziggler with Kurt Angle and Jericho and you have my list.
Posted By: Guest#6820 (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 12:24 PM
good list. 3 observations.
1. no jericho? epic fail. we all know this guy is one of the best ever.
2. thumbs up for bully ray. for a big bruising ass kicker, he's very underrated. this guy brings passion & intensity to everything he does.
3. i'll be the one to say it: austin aries is overrated. this guy oversells every single move to the point of being a cartoon. i can't take him seriously.
Posted By: memphis b-rad (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 12:59 PM
Wow, from this list I can't tell if you are taking TNA's dick in your mouth or ass! And Sheamus does not deserve to be on any list besides "the most boring uncharasmtic wrestlers today"!
Posted By: Guest#6289 (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 12:24 AM
Yeah, because the huge reaction he gets must mean 'uncharismatic' and 'boring.' Moron.
Posted By: DanTheMan (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 02:53 PM
TNA Fanboy top 10!!!! Roode has only faced 1 quality wrestler(Angle) and he is on the downslide between DUI's. When he takes on elite workers like Punk and Bryan give me a call and I will be glad to watch 1 of his matches.
Posted By: Guest#7072 (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 03:21 PM
great list dude. Here's one with magnitude:
10.Davey Richards. This guy is incredible in the ring, there's no doubt, but his lack of psychology and mic skills keeps him at my number 10.
9.El Generico. What a fun fun wrestler. I have never been bored with his matches, but I am a little bored with his character so he stays at 9.
8. Zack Ryder. This guy should b on a hot streak right now, but due to current straight retarded booking (seriously, a year ago I would never have admitted TNA's booking than WWE's, but times they are a changin) the WOO WOO WOO kid is stuck at number 8. He could be even bigger than Cena and a lot more liked by everyone if creative would get their heads out of their asses.
7. Cody Rhodes. Oh Cody how far you have come. From carrying Hardcore Holly's bags to carrying Orton's bags, then going from dashing to dastardly. Now Cody is a good title holder, not a great one because like I said, creative is really dropping the ball. But that matters not, because Cody is just so damn good.
6. Christian. What could be said about him that hasn't been said about the Captain of the S.S. Charisma? (that's what I call him anyway) I have always liked him better than Edge and he deserves any praise he gets. What a cool dude.
5.Orton
4.Ziggler
3.Bryan
2.Punk
1. JERI-CHO!! Running out of caracters in which to type, so I'll just go ahead and bottom line it. Orton has gotten leaps and bounds better and a home town hero. Ziggler is just too damn good in the ring and G-REAT at taking bumps. Punk and Bryans' credentials speak for themselves. And Jericho, oh Jericho, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. From a guy whose potential was going to waste in WCW, to the single most interesting person in pro wrestling today. I know that is a bold statement, and still my opinion, but come on, how many times has guy evolved over the past? From obnoxious rock star, to the first undisputed champion ever in the WWE, to an entertaining and humorous heel, to a face that became the man to hold the intercontinental heavyweight champion the most times out of anyone, to another body for Cena (alright that one doesn't count, but it is true) to the best heel EVER. Now he is so well known, during this last return before he went full heel, St. Louis wanted, no they NEEDED Jericho to win the rumble. I was ok with Shaemus winning, but it deflated the whole crowd and I saw masses of people leaving before the fireworks display went off. That doesn't matter though, because Jericho is going to 'Mania to face Punk (although that could change) and no matter who wins, I hope they leave Miami dead for the actual main event so they can show those two over hyped jabronis how real Pro Wrestlers handle their business.

That was a pretty solid list but I wouldn't have included Roode and Bully Ray. Granted, they both deserve top spots on a most improved list. I enjoy the heck out of both of them. But from a pure, technical standpoint they're still not at that top level.
Posted By: Ron Mexico (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 05:12 PM
Do two seperate lists cuz the WWe kids gonna have a shitfit..
But yeah its either Punk or Roode top wrestler these last 3 or 4 months..

Lists are subjective, so no one can fault you for whoever you choose, but your writing is very disorganized, filled with grammatical errors, and too stream-of-consciousness. It makes your arguments much less compelling than they should be.
Posted By: RCAM (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 05:37 PM
I like most of that list. I would put Ziggler and Sheamus in the 1 and 2 spots ans just move everybody down from there, but I agree with everyone on that list.
Posted By: iomis2001 (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 06:05 PM
See? If you actually back up your opinions with well-thought-out critique and discussion, people will give you credit, regardless of whether it favours TNA or not. Nice Article.

1) Bobby Roode- Roode is just about perfect right now.
2) Cody Rhodes- Rhodes should be the one taking the belt off Punk, not Jericho.
3) Daniel Bryan- Working with Show and Henry has held him back. I can't wait to see him and Sheamus.
4) James Storm- I'm really hoping Against All Odds leads to these guys having a stand alone blood feud. It could be Flair v. Rhodes/Rock v. Austin all over again.
5) Davey Richards- Quite simply the best in ring performer in the world.
6) Sheamus- I don't get the hate at all, awesome in the ring and on the mic, I think he's great.
7) Bully Ray- A total revelation and one of the best parts of TNA all year.
8) Randy Orton- He's still amazing, but coming off injury he has to drop...but I expect him to start climbing soon.
9) AJ Styles- Quite simply the 2nd best in ring performer in the world.
10) CM Punk- has become repetitive, boring, and unlikable and his lack of athleticism hurts him in ring in my eyes...but I think working with Jericho could take him back to last summer and he will climb up again.

You sir are an idiot! According to your logic Santino and Hornswoggle must be great because people cheer for them, retard!
Posted By: Guest#7073 (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 10:28 PM
Mark Henry would have been on my list a few months ago.
Sheamus is decent but not top 10. I think I would probably go with Davey Richards or AJ Styles instead.
Posted By: Kent Baker (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 10:52 PM
10) Davey Richards: I know he sucks on the mic and lacks charisma, but in the ring he has few peers.
9) CM Punk: Punk's still living off last summer. He needs to evolve and stop telling us what a rebel he is and start showing us.
8) AJ Styles: He's in the same boat as DR, but has improved on the mic a great deal. Arguably the best in the ring of his generation.
7) Bully Ray: I simply love what he has managed to become. Probably deserves to be higher, but I'm a workrate geek.
6) Sheamus: People can piss on him and say he's HHH's boy, but I think he has been phenomenal and deserves his spot in the main event.
5) Kurt Angle: I know it's become cool to shit on him because he's in TNA, but he is a legend and still near the top of his game.
4) James Storm: With all do respect to all the many others who desperately want to be the next Stone Cold...if TNA doesn't screw it up, Storm could carry the mantle.
3) Daniel Bryan: I just love the chickenshit heel and he's done it very well. I'm hoping he goes full bad guy with Sheamus, instead of the earnest geek heel, but it's a minor complaint.
2) Cody Rhodes: Cody is the top talent in WWE. Awesome in the ring, a top athlete, great on the mic, and most important of all...he's finally wearing knee pads...
1) Robert Roode: I get why those raised on WWE don't appreciate Roode...but I grew up with Ric Flair and the NWA and this is the closest we have had to that in a long time. Roode is the best in the world.

10) Davey Richards

Overall, i think this was a pretty solid list; could've done without Chris Daniels and Daniel Bryan, and Punk's already gotten a bit stale, but to each his own.
Still, if I could suggest a change to your list, no love for Randy Orton? Heck, Sting should be on the short list, too. (Not sure if you follow New Japan, but Shinsuke Nakamura,Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Hirooki Goto deserve consideration as well.)
Posted By: scipio2009 (Guest) on February 13, 2012 at 02:11 AM
yeah... james storm, bubba dudley and company are better workers than the Undertaker. Idiot.
Posted By: st (Guest) on February 12, 2012 at 06:24 AM
Er, yes, Undertaker's only wrestled twice in two years. Idiot.
Posted By: Xetal (Guest) on February 13, 2012 at 04:01 PM
New Bully Ray would be over HUGE in the WWE. Shame he didn't jump.
Posted By: Paul E (Guest) on February 13, 2012 at 05:03 PM
I love Davey Richards and all but if I'm going to put anybody from Ring of Honor on my list it'd be the Briscoe Brothers, Mark in particular. That goofy look on his face like he's taken one to many chair shots is pricless. And when they are doing an interview and he chimes in with something completly off the wall it makes me laugh every time.
My 5 cents (inflation)
10)James Storm
9) Bobby Roode: I love the work they are doing and it's GREAT to see them at the top of the card, TNA has been better for it but they get numbers 9 and 10 because I just feel everyone ahead of them on my list puts on better matches more consistently.
8)Austin Aries: Can't say enough about this guy
7)The Briscoes: As I stated above
6)Bully Ray: Arugably the best promo in the business right now. Definetly the best in TNA.
5)Cody Rhodes: He was my early pick to win the Royal Rumble before all the Jericho and Orton talk. D. Bryan was still a face and I thought it was going to be those two at Mania. I still think he'll fufill his prophecy of becomming the first guy to hold the World and I-C titles simultaneously.
4)Daniel Bryan: Never though I'd like him as a heel and didn't think it was going to work. Boy was I wrong. He also got extra points for being The Soup's Clip of the Week!
3)Randy Orton: Makes himself and anyone he's in the ring with look great
2)C.M. Punk: Can't wait for Mania with him and number one. (If that's still going to happen.)
1)Chris Jericho: If him and Punk are the plan, and I pray that they are, I sure hope they get a decent amount of time to steal the show becuase I'm sure they will.
Posted By: Andre the Midget (Guest) on February 13, 2012 at 08:39 PM
I really hope Kirk is reading this.
Sure there were a handful of WWE fanboys pissing themselves about Roode as #1...but notice just how many agree and how the many that don't are respectful, while making the case for somebody else.
Oh and did you notice 68 comments.
See, you can get hits without being a dick.
