The Heel Report 10.04.12: Kidnapping Appreciation Night

October 4, 2012 | Posted by James Wright

This is the Heel Report. A weekly chart spanning from Tuesday’s NXT to the Raw Super Show, ranking the heels in professional wrestling based on their actions, wins and losses.

Each Week there are ten places, with points out of ten awarded based on these positions. These points are then added to a rolling chart that will continue each week to show who is wrestling’s overall top heel.

This is a place where the heels of wrestling can be praised for all the hard work they do trying to get us all to hate them, so without further ado let’s get on with the report…

Weekly Top Ten

1st Place: The Big Show

The big man came back and beat the Viper to earn himself the number one contenders shot for Hell in a Cell. Then he represented himself pretty well in the Raw debate, which was just a terrible idea but did at least build the feud a little bit before the two face off in the dangerous cell, but can it get to the point of justifying a cell match before the PPV? I somehow doubt it.

2nd Place: C.M. Punk

Punk was dominant all over Raw, right until the end of it where he took a chokeslam and ate the pin. Still the former Voice of the Voiceless is getting some major representation in the form of Paul Heyman. Is it just me or does Heyman holding the belt for Punk instantly add more credibility to the title? Punk’s entrance just looks all the more important now.

3rd Place: Dolph Ziggler

Ziggler helped to show that he is progressing nicely into being in line for a title shot soon as he turned the tables on Punk from a few weeks ago and walked out on the WWE champion in their main event title match. He also had a rematch with Kofi Kingston on Superstars that barely anyone has probably watched, but was just as good. Now all he needs to do is lose the dead-weight.

4th Place: The Rhodes Scholars

They collectively beat the Usos to move on in the tag team tournament to face the champions at Hell in a Cell, and Damien Sandow put in a pretty decent showing against Sheamus on Raw, berfore the two got blasted with a Brogue Kick to end things. Still the team has a hell of a lot of potential, even if it all only culminates at Hell in a Cell and the team break up after that, hopefully in that time we will laugh, cry and generally be the better for it.

5th Place: Antonio Cesaro

The US champ once again successfully defended his title this week against the former champion; Santino Marella. He also managed to Neutralise the Funkasaurus, which is no mean feat.

6th Place: Alberto Del Rio

He attacked Randy Orton, because he’s a spiteful bastard. At least he isn’t going to be in the title match at Hell in a Cell and he has a possible feud with the Viper when he gets back from filming.

7th Place: The Encore/The Band

Whatever they are called they collectively managed to beat Yoshi Tatsu and delivered a mugging to Santino and have already developed more of a personality and solidified faction attitude, this honestly could be the new, much more subtle version, of the Nexus. Where new jobber status guys band together and eventually take over the show, who knows, it might happen eventually!

8th Place: The Miz

Another instalment of Miz TV and a win over the internet champion Zack Ryder proves that the Miz is the most dominant media maven in the WWE, he’s also the Intercontinental champion, just in case you have forgotten.

9th Place: Robert Roode

The Abs side of the team might have eaten the pin this week but his mind games against Storm and Aries have been top notch, and his heel reasoning for his actions also rings true, so let’s hope that the remaining build and match itself holds up to the year’s hype.

10th Place: Bully Ray

The man with the largest calves in the world is being protected from the pin by the former TNA champion, this can only be good for the Bully and hopefully by the time Bound For Glory rolls around we will be having a triple threat match for the title that sees Bully Ray win and Aces & 8s mysteriously gain control of the title from then on.

(Week 61):

1. Daniel Bryan (274)

2. Alberto Del Rio (239)

3. Cody Rhodes (233)

4. Robert Roode (227)

5. Mark Henry (181)

6. Dolph Ziggler (171)

7. Bully Ray (161)

8. The Miz (159)

9. Chris Jericho (125)

10. Big Show (117)

That’s all for this week, sorry about the streamlined report this week. I’ll be done with deadlines soon and the report will return to its ranty rate of wordage that it used to be. For now this is James Wright signing off.
