I haven’t seen the new Superstar Graham DVD yet, but I did watch the Wizard of OZ for the first time the other day…
Word on the net is that some people don't like me. I don't care, let's get to work.
PS: JD is going DOWN!
Last Week's Poll!:
Do you agree with the WWE Taking the Title off of Edge?
Yes: 174 - 15.9%
No: 827 - 75.5%
I don't Care: 95 - 8.7%
Total Votes Cast: 1096
Damn good turn out kids, even a few more than the Rumble poll! You can go back to last week's column and click on the poll to double check the numbers if you wish. I really like using this polling method, as there will be no disputes. I thought it was too soon to stop his title run myself, which was the reason I posed the question. The Edge-Heads came out in force for this pool, and made their voices heard.
Thanks again and onto…
This Week's Poll!:
I have been very strong in the opinion that the WWE as a company, and their performers are shitting on the memory of Eddie Guerrero for the sole purpose of trying to help their lack of creativity. So this week's poll is as follows:
Raw-Liners!:
WWE has announced a #1 contenders tourney to begin tonight.
RVD vs. Carlito
Kane vs. Chris Masters
Triple H vs. Ric Flair
Shawn Michaels vs. Big Show
I have written this before Raw. Ok, if I use my powers of WWE booking, Kane beats Masters. Carlito gets by RVD (via shenanigans). HHH beats Flair and Show beats HBK. Then Masters "accidentally" costs Carlito his match against Kane (setting up their WM match), HHH beats Show. Then we get HHH vs. Kane in his "sorta push" of the year #1 and HHH wins to face Cena at WM. Show and Kane could cost each other by accident as well, setting them up for WM, since defending the tag titles at WM is so 2000.
RVD could make it past and into the finals for HHH to beat, but who knows. The above was an attempt at common WWE style booking, and we all know that Kane gets a mini-push every year. I may be totally wrong, but I thought I'd toss that out there.
On with the show!
Great opening stuff, which highlighted the tournament I discussed above.
Lita is totally skanked out, sweet.
VIVA Edge and his ratings!
Oh fucking hell.
Hacksaw, get some gear brother.
Nice, Edge beat down Hacksaw. See, that's what you get for not wearing tights old man!
Well shit, I was wrong. Masters actually had some nice counters to get into the Masterlock this week. I'll say that RVD now will make the finals with HHH. Thank god that they didn't do their normal, bullshit booking.
Haha, Vince shares those qualities I'd imagine. Lita is going to wrestle, DANGER WILL ROBINSON, DANGER!
Ashley vs. Mickie…again. Let's hope Ashley got quicker.
Thursday Night Raw…um, yay?
I love the top, but where are the tiny shorts Trish? WHERE I SAY! I DEMAND ANSWERS!
Who heard Joey Styles whore himself out there? "Wow, Ashley has some great right hands!" Right.
OMG REF BUMP~!
The Intercontinental Title is about as dead as the Raw Tag Team Titles.
Well, at least it was during commercial this week for the Spirit Squad.
Crazy Mickie~!~! Who is this "Jack" fellow? I DEMAND ANSWERS AND SO DOES MICKIE!
MAMMA!
Eugene is messing with the weave! He's gonna die!
Wooooooooooooooo!
I am not motivated for this tonight. But I am adding to the rest of the column to make you happy!
Maria is all scared…console her John, make her all happy. Good man. RATTA TAT TAT DAT ASS!
Uh oh, here's Vinnie!
HBK retirement party? Will Marty be there with the crack and the whores?
You are boring me Vince, hurry it along dude.
Oh snap! Shelton got his spot, there goes all of my fantasy booking. Ah well.
Cheer him on MAMMA!
REF BUMP #2~!
Um, ok then that was abrupt.
Damn you Show, you hurt MAMMA!
You guys know you have oxygen right there right?
Good work guys, you just exposed the fat suit.
I can hear the message boards now, "OMG THEY'RE USING OWEN VOICES~!"
Maybe if MAMMA dies, they can use her to get Shelton over more. They could have a MAMMA invitational, Shelton could ride her wheel chair to the ring and dedicate his next victories to her. It'd be money!
Tool Grisham, yay.
You have to wonder, does Carlito actually like apples? Maybe that's why he spits them out.
Smackdown Magazine presents: Let's piss on Eddie's grave aka Smackdown.
Rock the fuck on, Carlito vs. RVD was damn good.
I am SO glad to be wrong with my picks. There are times when they just do the same old shit, but this was damn good stuff because it was some different stuff.
I'd tag Maria.
HAHAHAHA! Stupid heels and sexy Maria rule!
FOLEY~! Yes, this should help the build to WM nicely.
WWE news, notes and happenings:
WWE News from the Wrestling Observer (My Comments in Bold):
WWE contacted AJ Pierzynski for a possible angle at WrestleMania, he turned them down.
HAHA! Yeah, they aren't paying attention to TNA at all. They figured if TNA got some good response from him that if they got his for WM in Chicago that they'd be giving TNA a big fuck you. Good try though, damn smart thing to try.
Viscera beating down Matt Hardy and "humping" him in the Royal Rumble was more punishment on Hardy for leaving the ring at Survivor Series.
That's what you get for running from the Undertaker. Ass raped in front of a huge audience.
SD! Ratings went up 400,000 for Boogey man's segment recently; Rey Mysterio is easily the most consistent ratings draw for SD!
Boogey's a draw!…anyway, I can see why Rey is a consistent draw. Over the past three years the Latin American Market has been a growing audience, and for almost 2-years Rey has been a big player on Smackdown.
Shawn Michaels asked to be removed as a full timer after WrestleMania. He plans to come in for big shots just like Hulk Hogan. Michaels was pissed by the lack of promotion for his book.
I can't blame him. He isn't looking good these days and I think is just feeling the effect of working hard. To me, if he wants to take a break he can do so and I will not argue. I never thought we'd see him back in the ring after WrestleMania XIV, so the fact that returned and gave us even more great matches was an unexpected reward. I also understand him being pissed that his book wasn't pushed like many others have been. He's Shawn FN Michaels, he deserves to have it pushed.
All signs are pointing to Eddy Guerrero getting inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.
I am torn on this to be honest with you. When others pass they don't get bumped into the Hall. Lou Thez had passed away and he hasn't been inducted. Road Warrior Hawk, Owen Hart, Curt Hennig all have passed and they aren't in it. Now I am not saying that Eddie doesn't deserve it, I will agree that he does deserve it easily. But to do it now seems like, "hey, we're using his name for storylines, why not the HOF while we're at it!" Like I said he's most definitely deserving, but I just don't see why it has to be this year.
WWE will soon have a "Fidel Castro Parody" character as well as a "tag team doing a modern day Bushwhackers gimmick."
The Castro parody I would assume will be played by Osama in OVW. I have seen some of his stuff, seems good on the mic but I can't vouch for his in ring skills. The Bushwhackers tag team I think will be the Highlanders that are now in Deep South. They pretty much aren't very good from what I have seen.
Your News: WWE will release the following DVD's in 2006:
* Austin vs. McMahon: The Definitive Collection
* Brian Pillman: Loose Cannon
* Hulk Hogan: The Ultimate Anthology
* Born to Controversy: The Roddy Piper Story
* The Spectacular Legacy of the AWA
* John Cena: The Time is Now
My Views: Austin vs. McMahon is a bit repetitive, but if it is packaged together on a nice double DVD with some new stuff tossed in, should be good and sell well. Not too excited here.
Brian FN Pillman gets a DVD! Sweet Jesus, where do I preorder? I hope that they do a nice double DVD set on his career, since they own the WCW stuff. This one could be a gem and I hope they got Austin to speak on the DVD.
Hulk Hogan's new DVD should probably be a 3-disc one and there is a ton of shit they could put on it. I haven't seen the first Hogan DVD, but I hope this doesn't have too many repeats and is honest. Not too excited here.
The Piper DVD is WELL overdue and should be another 3-Disc set. Pre-order please.
The Spectacular Legacy of the AWA NEEDS to be at minimum 3-discs, but should be 5-probably. It also needs Hennig vs. Bockwinkel on it. I hope that they do a really good and honest job with this one, because it could be great. I do want this one.
Wait, don't we already have a Cena DVD? Do we really need another one?
JT: Women and children around the world rejoice!
HAHA! True enough JT. I will say that I am disappointed that there is no mention of a Dusty DVD, a Horsemen DVD, greatest tag teams or even a Vader DVD. I was really hoping for one of those.
WAIT! They then added: *The World's Greatest Wrestling Managers
*The American Dream: The Dusty Rhodes Story (2-disc)
DUSTY! Sweet, that makes me happy and there better be a TON of promos! The Managers one could be pretty sweet as well. I am officially going poor again.
Your News: Edge is not in the WWE Title #1 Contender tournament which starts on RAW tonight. The plan at this point seems to be to have a John Cena vs. Edge WWE Title match headline Saturday Night Main Event and then have Edge move on to a program with Mick Foley for WrestleMania.
My Views: That seems to work, as it sets things up seemingly nicely for both events. Edge and Foley at WM could be one hell of a match. Foley and Edge are very good friends, so Foley will want to do his best to get Edge over. This means that he will not only be in top condition (like the Orton match) but that he'll take a hell of a lot of punishment in order to life up to his normal standards, erase the shitty Carlito match and make sure Edge looks like a world beater (like Orton did after his win.)
Your News: Word is that many backstage are upset regarding WWE's continued use of the Eddie Guerrero name.
My Views: They should be, and certain people should be ashamed of their parts in it as well. And no, I won't "get over it" because I think that it is beyond stupid and disrespectful.
Your News: WWE has signed Luchadore Super Porky, which could indicate the return of the Junior Division for Smackdown soon.
Goldust signed a new WWE deal on Monday and is now back on the fulltime roster.
My Views: SUPER PORKY! That dude cracks me up in small doses. And if they can use Goldust like they did Monday and if his working boots are on, I don't mind him being back…if you weeellll.
Your News: Wal-Mart as a special on the 2005 WWE Armageddon PPV. When you buy the PPV at Wal-Mart, it comes with a bonus disc, which is Armageddon 2003
My Views: Just a thoughtful tip for those of you looking for a bargain. Free is free I always say.
…Intermission…
…AND I'M BAAAAAAACK!…
TNA stories, scuttlebutt and rumors:
Your News: Impact scored a 1.1 cable rating this past Saturday night (28th). This was the episode that featured the SPIKE TV debut of Sting, along with his "retirement."
The Monday replay for TNA Impact did a 0.7 rating.
My Views: Sweet deal. I was very glad to see that they finally cracked the 1.0 barrier. I think that this was really bothering them in the back of their mind. They are still slowly building the TV audience, now they need to keep building the PPV audience.
Your News: With Impact coming off of it's best rating to date, TNA officials are currently in New York to meet with SPIKE TV about TNA Impact moving to a primetime weeknight slot. While it has been rumored that Impact would move to Thursdays, that is not set in stone. There is also no word if they will be given more time (moved to 90-minutes –two full hours.)
It appears that the decision to move the show to a new day HAS been made but the other details (time, length of show, etc.) are still being considered.
Mondays and Thursdays are being considered, with Thursday being likely. SpikeTV was considering moving Impact to Thursdays even before the last Impact, which drew a record rating. Spike wants to move the UFC programming block to Thursday nights due to the high profile involvement of Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz in the third season of Ultimate Fighter and will likely have Impact serve as the lead-in, likely at 8PM ET.
TNA, however, is fighting for the 8PM ET slot on Monday nights. It is very possible that as a concession for being on Thursdays, SpikeTV will give TNA 90 minutes, from 8PM ET to 9:30PM ET. SpikeTV wants to package TNA and UFC together on Thursday nights in a three to four hour block.
My Views: Don't expect Impact to be moved until April. SPIKE has no changes slated for March and The Ultimate Fighter III starts in April. The goal is to still bundle TNA with UFC. I would love for them to have Thursdays and get the 90-minutes. I think if they could get that extra 30-minutes, they could do a lot more and their shows wouldn't feel so rushed. These meetings are great news though, and hopefully SPIKE will continue their support.
BUT THEN!: This was released: New York, NY, February 6, 2006 – Spike TV has announced that Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling will move to a weeknight primetime slot starting this April. Premieres of TNA: iMPACT! Wrestling will move to Thursdays at 9:00 PM, ET/PT, starting April 13, and will encore in its current Saturday night timeslot.
"TNA Wrestling has been delivering strong ratings for Spike and is continually growing its audience," says Kevin Kay, General Manager/Executive Vice-President, Spike TV. "Wrestling fans have been looking for an alternative and have found it in TNA's brand of high-flying and action-packed entertainment."
My Views: Good deal, it's official. While I would have loved for them to get 90-minutes or two-hours, this is another positive step for the promotion and a sign that SPIKE is still behind them. Thursdays is a rough night. At 9pm you have CSI, The Office/Earl and The OC as ratings contenders for those nights. But, Smackdown always did solid numbers on Thursdays so I see no reason that TNA couldn't. The lineup will have TNA leading off, then UFC Unleashed and finally the Ultimate Fighter III at 11pm. I think that TNA should have been place din the middle, because history on SPIKE has shown that TNA does great off of UFC lead-ins because a lot of their new viewers have come from UFC. But I suppose we'll see how things work out; to me this is nothing but a positive for the company.
Your News: TNA held a press conference with their workers Monday to announce that Impact will be moving to Thursdays at 9PM ET on April 13th. The big news from the conference is that Impact will still hold on to their current Saturday timeslot with the replay airing then. No word on what will happen to the current Monday replay slot.
Other notes:
- There are no current plans for another TNA TV show.
- Dixie Carter said the deal with SpikeTV took just a few weeks and that SpikeTV has been a wonderful partner.
- She said Impact will remain one hour for now and said she understands that workers feel rushed and feel as if they don't have enough time but it is important for them to stick to their schedule because eventually they will be live and everyone will have to stick to their allocated time.
- Carter said the Final Resolution PPV delivered the highest buyrate in company history.
- Carter told everyone not to believe everything they read on the Internet and added that Sting was brought in to help bring in a new audience and provide some rub to the rest of TNA's talent.
- Bob Carter said TNA was one of the best investments he ever made.
My Views: That's great that SPIKE is still giving them a replay, and the Saturday spot is not a bad one to keep. As far as the other notes:
That sucks, I wish SPIKE would pick up Xplosion, it would be another hour to hype PPV's.
Glad to hear that SPIKE is being a good partner in this deal.
That is good that she understands that they need another hour for TV, and I like that they may be going live eventually. I just hope that that "live" show is longer than one hour.
Yay for Final Resolution!
Yes, if they aren't me, don't trust others on the Internet; especially that non-elitist JD Dunn. And she is dead on with Sting.
People are complaining about this statement, but what did you want him to say? "Until a few months ago this fucker was bleeding me dry but hey, I got a tax write off?" Get a brain people.
Your News: Glen "Disco Inferno" Gilberti and Tom Prichard were backstage at the Impact taping working as agents.
There are no real plans right now to bring Kevin Nash back in soon. He is still obligated to work future dates but he isn't being figured into the creative plans for the immediate future.
Jeff Hardy is likely to be brought back eventually despite his continued behavior problems. Hardy is one of TNA's top merchandise sellers.
The plan right now is to bring Sting back in April for the Lockdown PPV.
There is talk of bring Low Ki back into the X-Division.
My Views: Tom Prichard would be a great guy to have backstage doing the agent thing, the man has a TON of knowledge and could really help these guys. I also support the use of Disco Inferno in this way. Disco does have a great grasp on things, trust me I know this, and he should do well.
Nash doing some commentator something would be excellent. They need to find a NON-WRESTLING way to use him.
Fuck Jeff Hardy and his aluminati.
The Sting plan has legs, I already said it.
Fuck Low Ki, he needs to get over his Jobber-itus first. Then he can come back.
Your News: Abyss gave his notice to Ring of Honor this week. Abyss wanted a more prominent role in the company, but Gabe Sapolsky didn't want another TNA talent pushed ahead of more long–time ROH wrestlers who have paid their dues. The split was apparently very civil as both men understood each other's position, so a return could happen down the line.
My Views: I can understand both sides completely. Gabe has loyalty to a lot of guys on his roster, and feels that they need rewarded for their service to ROH and not someone that has just come in, while Abyss as the largest man on the roster feels that he needs a bigger push. Hopefully they can work things out and Abyss can return because I have heard nothing but good things about his ROH run.
Your News: Starting in March, TNA will start streaming their PPV's for International fans. To start there will not be any extras available, but that could change once the service is underway.
My Views: Good deal, I know a LOT of people in the UK that are dying to see these PPV's live, so this will help.
Your News: TNA has followed the following trademarks: "Canadian Enforcer" (for Bobby Roode) and "War Machine" (for Rhino).
As of now the next World X Cup is slated to include Great Britain, Japan, and Mexico.
Before signing his TNA contract, Sabu had signed with Jakks Pacific to produce a WWE Classic Superstars action figure.
For the first TNA House Show it is going to be taped, so they will likely shoot at least one angle there. Jerry FN Lynn vs. Team Canada's Eric Young has been added to the show as well.
My Views: Yes! I have said that Roode is like the Enforcer of Team Canada, this is perfect. The War Machine fits Rhino, I prefer it to the man beast.
As long as they bring in good people, they can be Team East-Kabub-Fuck for all I care.
Good for Sabu, brother needs the cash.
Very interesting, I like that they will shoot an angle there. 411's JT will be there live, so I bet this will make him happy. And Jerry FN Lynn vs. Eric "THE BUMP KING" Young will be a fun ass match, especially on a house show. Enjoy JT.
Your News: Next up on the DVD front is "Genesis", which will hit retailers in the United States and Canada on February 21, followed by the new "Best of the Bloodiest Brawls" which debuts March 14. That DVD will feature the following matches:
Monster's Ball 1 - Victory Road
AMW vs. Triple X Steel Cage - Turning Point
Full Metal Mayhem – Abyss vs. Jeff Hardy Destination X
AJ Styles vs. Abyss - Lockdown
Raven vs. Sean Waltman (House of Fun) - Hard Justice
Abyss vs. Raven Dog Collar Match - No Surrender
Raven/Sabu vs. Rhino/Jarrett - Sacrifice
AMW/JJ vs. Rhino/Team 3D - Genesis
Monster's Ball 2 - Bound For Glory
Barbed Wire Massacre - Turning Point
Bonus footage will include ringside footage from the "Barbed Wire Massacre" plus the infamous scalping Raven suffered at the hands of James Mitchell in 2003 back in Nashville during the Wednesday night Pay-Per-Views.
Sacrifice, Unbreakable and Turning Point DVDs will be available on ShopTNA.com in March.
The Best of Samoa Joe, The Best of Christian Cage and a TNA Knockouts DVD are planned for spring/summer. There has already been bonus footage for the Cage DVD was shot on Thursday in Tampa, Florida, as TNA cameras were on hand for a sit down interview with Cage, as well as a MTV "Cribs" style shoot at his home with his family.
My Views: The PPV's seem to be coming out a little quicker now, which is great. The Bloodbath DVD looks good, and the extra footage of the Raven scalping will be great and gross people out.
The Best of Joe seems almost too soon, but his matches have been great, so I am all for it. Cage is WAY early, but I feel the best stuff will be the footage at Cage's house. As I said last week, Cook already pre-ordered this as well as a gross of towels. Should be some good releases.
Your News: TNA is once again taking steps to where all talent will have to have their independent bookings done through the TNA office. Bill Behrens has been hired to handle this. TNA tried this in 2004 and it did not go over well. However, with the promotion on national TV now and growing, they feel it is vital that they take control of their assets.
My Views: I have said this before, they need to do this. At some point if this company wants to succeed they need to be one together group, only working for TNA and not Indies. Then they will be a total company, and be self-sufficient. They have every right to dictate where their talent works.
Lance Storm is Funny as Hell:
From a Q&A on his website
Email: Hey Lance, about 2 years ago there was a question asking you how you kept from laughing in your segment with Goldust. You said you have a trick but weren't ready to share it yet. Are you willing to spill the beans yet?
Lance's Reply: I wanted to save this for my book, because it should get me a ton of heat, but here it goes. I'm completely serious here, I'm not ribbing. I would visualize Lex Luger matches in my head, and think about how much more money he made than me, and I found after that nothing seemed funny anymore. Sorry Lex!
VIVA LANCE!
Everything else that needs covering:
Your News: It is being reported that while filming a shoot interview this past weekend that Chris Kanyon announced that he was gay.
My Views: Well good for Kanyon. No one should be ashamed of what they really are, and if this makes him happy more power to him. In a related story he is reverting back to the "Boy George" Style character that he did in the WWE for the Undertaker angle and has changed his finisher's name from the Flatliner to the "Bottoms Up." There is probably a joke in there somewhere with the name Kanyon…I'll let you kids have at it.
Your News: Mark Madden had heart surgery yesterday and is doing well. Madden hopes to be back to his radio duties in a few days.
My Views: Good luck and get well. Heart stuff is nothing to mess with.
Your News: ROH's Gabe Sapolsky released the following statement today on ROHWrestling.com: There has been a disagreement in business arrangements between Low Ki and ROH management. Low Ki has canceled all his ROH bookings as stated in a headline at Low-Ki.com.
We will announce new matches for the ones that Ki has already been advertised in next week.
This will mark the end of Low Ki in ROH. We are sorry things turned out this way and apologize to the ROH fans for the lineup changes.>
The company had planned to have a rematch of the very first Ring of Honor Main Event at their 100th show featuring Low Ki vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Bryan Danielson.
My Views: It should read, "Low Ki got jobberitus and decided to leave the promotion like a bitch." You know what is funny? Ki bitches that he doesn't want to lose. Dude thinks this shit is real. What is really funny is that he jobs most of the time in NOAH from what I have seen. Here is the punch line; he uses his position in NOAH as leverage with promoters as the reason that he can't job! Yeah, that's like keeping George South strong on all of the Indies so he can be a beast when losing to Double A in 3-miniutes on World Wide. Who the hell does he think he is, the new Bruiser Brody? Sure, this may not be it but I think that it is VERY shitty that he just up and quit considering that he had something like SIX ROH -dates scheduled and was going to be the main event of the 100th show as he met Daniels and Danielson in a rematch of the very first ROH Main Event.
Your News: Finally in some good news for ROH, World League Wrestling, Pro Wrestling NOAH and Ring Of Honor are pleased to announce a huge tag team dream match for the March 25th ROH event in Manhattan, NY. The bout will see GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion KENTA & Naomichi Marufuji team for the first time in the United States as they take on the ROH dream team of World Champion Bryan Danielson & Samoa Joe.
My Views: After the losses of Ki and Abyss, this is great. KENTA and Marufuji ware a damn good tag team in Japan and this will be their 2nd sting in ROH, the first saw LENTA defend his title successfully against the now gone Low Ki and Marufuji come up short in his challenge to Bryan Danielson. This will be the first time that they have teamed in the US, and having them with Danielson and Joe should provide a very good match, with the definite possibility of it being great.
Your News: Ring Of Honor and Dragon Gate are very pleased to announce that six of Dragon Gate's top stars will head to ROH for events on 3/30 in Detroit, 3/31 in Chicago and 4/1 in Chicago. Tickets for all three shows are now on sale at ROHwrestling.com, by calling 215-781-2500 and at Ticketmaster outlets.
Dragon Gate features state-of-the-art, fast-paced, high-flying wrestling. ROH fans got a small taste of what Dragon Gate has to offer on the 8/27 "Dragon Gate Invasion" show when CIMA faced AJ Styles and Shingo Takagi battled Curry Man.
CIMA will return to ROH for the big triple shot as he will lead his Blood Generation group. The Blood Generation faction will also be represented by Naruki Doi and Masato Yoshino.
Dragon Gate's other top faction, Do Fixer, will also be represented in Detroit and Chicago. ROH fans will get the opportunity to see Dragon Kid, Genki Horiguchi & Ryo Saito in action!
My Views: Good deal for ROH. After some bad things going down, they are recovering nicely. The Triple Shot Weekend during WM weekend is looking really good so far, and I'd imagine between live gates and DVD's that they should come out of this really well financially. Generation Next vs. Blood Generation and the Embassy vs. Do Fixer are some deals that should and probably will happen at these events, as they would be really fun matches. Gabe, beg Abyss to come back for this weekend so he can toss little men around. That'd be great.
Your News: What's Brock up to this week?
My Views:
Reader Email Time:
From Josh on TNA's new Prime Time Slot:
No. Not 9:00. What happened to 8:00? All last week I heard the rumor that it was gonna move to either Monday night or Thursday night at 8:00. Why is it 9:00 now? What are they thinking? Well, I know that all my friends won't be watching Impact, cause Thurs. at 9:30 that's when The Office is on. Good job Spike, you dopes. 8:00 fools. And 8:00 Monday right before Raw would
work best. Oh boy, they really aren't thinking over there. Great job screwing it up.
I think my answer was clear above.
From longtime reader and loyal contributor John on certain phrases:
"I am not going to be a transitional champion!" That line should have never been said on TV, ever. Why is it even said? This is what the Edge-Cena story line as become to me acting as a mark. If Edge knows he is going to lose the title why would he go along with it? He should just prevent himself from losing the title or make sure that he wins it back. See we all know it is fake but the wrestlers on TV aren't suppose to know. They aren't suppose to know they are or are not a transitional champion. They aren't suppose to know that they are a mid-carder. I would like to know your opinion on this if it is bothering you. I know it is bothering me.
I agree that it should never have been said on TV. WWE and TNA use these stupid, business-exposing (yes I know that to us it is already exposed, just follow me) phrases because they think that it will work better. It does bother me as well, not only for the reasons that you are saying but because it is lazy writing. They are trying to be clever but they come off as boring. Just idiotic really, and yes I agree with you.
And finally from DJ on some TNA issues:
It seems to me that they don't wanna give anyone from the 'E' that's gone there a decent push.
Granted, Rhino won the NWA Title, but, all in all, didn't it seem like the 'E' screwed him over? From what I understand, the guy was having family troubles.. I mean, he should have been a little more reserved in public, but when you're mad, you're mad.
The Dudle--I mean, Team 3D is a great tag team. One of the best, but TNA management are not allowing them to have the belts. What does 3D stand for now anyways? They're not the Dudleyz. So. What does it mean? Deadly Death Drop? Dropping Death Drop? They're all a little redundant sounding to me.
I read at "some other site" that some of the boys in the back are mad because Shannon Moore is getting a push instead of the 'homegrown' talent. Why is this a big deal? If a guy is over, they need to capitalize on it, because its good for their still struggling company.
I think that Sting is a good move for the company, however, it looks like they're booking him like the Undertaker is in the 'E', which in turn probably means that he won't win the belt.
Christian Cage is great. I was pretty pissed off when he was at the top of the card with Cena and Jericho on RAW only to be sent to SmackDown! to be repackaged as a glorified jobber all over again. I liked Christian ever since the E&C gimmick with the five-second pose for those of us with the benefit of flash photography. He's pretty over with the crowd, like Hardy was, but I'm afraid that the Jarrett's aren't gonna utilize him either.
Rhino got to leap frog numerous "TNA" stars on his road to the NWA title, even though it was a very short run.
Team 3D has beaten about every TNA tag team INCLUDING the champions in a non-title match as 6-man tag. They will win the titles in the next two months, this is what is called the slow burn. They are "Team 3D" because they can't be the Dudleyz; 3D is the name of their finisher.
Moore ISN'T that over, and I say this as someone who liked him. He got tossed in with AJ to begin with AND got to go over, that is a big deal in TNA-land. Moore should have had to rebuild himself up, because he was nothing but Job Fodder in the E.
Sting may win the belt, and this is the best way to book him. The 2-months off gives him time to train and for TNA to get together the rest of his run, which they have already booked.
Cage is already getting used very well, and he will eventually win the title. You can't do these things all at once man.
Thanks for the emails!
Pimpin ain't easy…because no one wants to return the pimp, ya fuckers!
Ronny continues his awesome look at the history of the WWF/E.
