The 10th Day News Report for 2.15.06

Sicker than a stack of flaming tables
No RAW this week thanks to the dog show. My review of disc one of the new ECW Blood Sport: The Most Violent Matches should be up now. So just scroll down the main wrestling page.
I apologize in advance for any typos or errors in this report. I got sick this week and was barely able to get this finish let alone proofread.
MAILBAG
I thought that I would pass on that Trish's date may be, Ray Gordy, son of the late Terry Bam Bam Gordy. I thought it looked like him a little and have heard some reports that it may have been.
Thanks,
-Cory T
I couldn't find anything that confirmed that. I did find other people on the internet offering that possibility. Gordy is part of Deep South Wrestling and the whole roster was backstage at RAW last Monday. Bring him up as Trish's boyfriend. One could have a worst character.
You wrote:
>>I think it was Anne Landers, got in trouble for calling the Pope a Pollock. Then she had to defend herself that she didn't mean it in a derogatory way. I could make another comparison involving the ‘n' word, but not even I will go there. Thanks again.<<
First off, its "Ann". Secondly, you SHOULD "go there". Its the fact that this country has become so sickeningly politically correct (i.e., we are afraid to be honest) that has everything so f'ed up.
I am interested to see that the University of Pittsburgh gives out writing degree's to people without proper spelling and grammar ability.
-JP
I can't say that I am a frequent reader of Ann Landers to actually know how to spell her name. An extra ‘e' is not that grievous of an error. My observation that I did not share last week was innocuous enough. I was simply going to state that the pronunciation and connotation of pollock to pollack is like nigger to nigga. That's just not a word you toss about and for good reason.
Dan Marino went to Pitt so you would be surprised whom they push through. My major was writing not English. Misspelling and bad grammar is just ‘creative license.' If you think these are major problems of mine I can't fathom what you think of the rest of the writers on the site.
By the way you forgot to put a comma in ‘its' the two times you wrote it to signify the contraction of it is and improperly used a comma in ‘degrees' when you meant the plural and not the possessive. And if you're not opposed to harsh language then why use ‘f'ed up' instead of just saying fucked up? I often correct little mistakes like that in emails, but in your case I said fuck it.
NEWS AND NOTES
-This item contains spoilers so you can't say I didn't warn you. RAW was preempted in the United States on the USA Network due to the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. It did air in other outlets and will air in the US on Thursday. Big Show and Triple H fought to a double count out in the Wrestlemania title shot tournament. This set up a triple threat match against the winner of Carlito vs. Rob Van Dam for next week. Rob Van Dam won that match up. Shelton Benjamin defeated Eugene. Ashley beat Torrie Wilson. As we all figured Shawn Michaels refused to retire. And as we also all figured in the main event John Cena retained over Edge. Credit: Stephen Randle's recap here on 411
-In your online Heat report Val Venis beat the only guy on the roster they will let him beat, Doug Basham. Kane squashed Johnny Pariesi. That Trevor Murdoch push is dead as he jobs to Golddust. Tyson Tomko and Gene Snitsky beat Chris Hamrick and some guy. Credit: PWInsider.com
-It was also announced during the RAW telecast in Canada that Bret Hart will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame at Wrestlemania 22. This means that Hart will most likely be at Wrestlemania to attend the induction ceremony. It still remains to be seen if he will be involved in any wrestling angles or matches, such as the building Shawn Michaels vs. Vince McMahon feud. Credit: 411mania.com
-Dusty Rhodes and Eddie Guerrero have also been announced inductees for the Hall of Fame this year. Credit: WWE.com
-The Smackdown house show for Lafayette, Louisiana has its top two matches announced. This might hint that Orton will defeat Mysterio at No Way Out to claim the Wrestlemania title shot as already thought. Credit: 411mania.com
-Randy Orton's father Cowboy Bob Orton has been released from WWE. I didn't know he had a contract. I just thought he was hanging around scamming free soup. Credit: WWE.com
-WWE is formulating plans for the upcoming return of Saturday Night's Main Event on NBC. At this time it's considered that they will do a modern WWE show and not a retro version of the old telecast or references to the old series. I think that would be interesting to have the old music and people cutting promos in front of their old logos. Don't make it a run of the mill show, make if feel special by going back to that old special feel. Credit: PWInsider.com
-The following future jobbers will be getting tryout matches on the February 18th WWE show in Nassau.
Jeff Velocci

-Despite Jeff Jarrett already having withdrawal issues about not being NWA World Champion, it's considered that the next pay per view for TNA will be headlined by Christian vs. Monty Brown. Credit: WrestlingObserver.com
-At the next pay per view, Ultimate X, it's considered that Jeff Jarrett will be involved in some sort of six or eight man tag match involving members of his stable. Lockdown will most likely be main evented by Jarrett vs. Sting. Ultimate X will also most likely feature an Ultimate X match for the X Division Title between Samoa Joe, AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels. Credit: PWInsider.com

-Machete might be getting himself some face time for the TNA as Apolo has been apparently let go. Word is that he complained at the pay per view about jobbing all the time, so they told the crybaby to take a walk. You wouldn't see that behavior from Barry Horowitz. Credit: prwrestling.com
-Alex Shelley will face Bryan Danielson for the Ring of Honor Title at the March 11th afternoon show at the old ECW arena in Philadelphia. Before that date, Danielson must defend the title against Jimmy Rave on February 25th in New Jersey. -Former WCW and WWE wrestler Chris Kanyon released a statement on his website Monday that alluded to the fact that he might be gay in real life, but did not openly come out and say it. The Kanyon character has taken a turn into being gay and Kanyon seems to be building mystery and speculation concerning his own sexual orientation. He was in a tag team called Men at Work, so I saw this coming. Credit: official statement from Kanyon

Week 3 Team
Chris Benoit: 31 points-3rd
Gregory Helms: 28 points-4th
Triple H: 26 points-5th
Big Show: 23 points-8th
Shelton Benjamin: 17 points-16th
Carlito: 8 points-23rd
Kane: 8 points-23rd
Rey Mysterio: 3 points-35th
Week Total: 144 points
Grand Total: 602 points
World Rank: 15143rd
Synopsis: My wrong picks in the RAW title tournament really hurt me. Mysterio getting surprisingly little to do on Smackdown also hurt. Benoit proved a good pick as did Helms. This week should be a slam dunk. A lot of matches for RAW and the Smackdown pay per view have been announced and they all appear slam dunks on the winners. So I'll probably screw it up.
Week 4 Team
John Cena ($5 million): There is no way that Edge wins the title back, especially with Mick Foley as the guest referee and Edge projected to fight him at Wrestlemania.
Triple H ($5 million): John Cena vs. Triple H is still the Wrestlemania main event according to most. So that means Triple H keeps rolling here.
Rob Van Dam ($3 million): He makes the best opponent for Hunter in the finals of the tournament.
Kurt Angle: ($5 million): Moving the belt to the Undertaker isn't a 100% negative, but I'm not looking for it. However it is Undertaker so a clean finish probably isn't going to happen. UT matches make me nervous.
Randy Orton: ($4 million): I'd love to see the swerve, but Orton vs. Angle looks to be your co-main event for Wrestlemania.
Booker T ($4 million): I can see this match having a non finish and a lot shenanigans. Despite what Teddy Long said I can also see Booker T finding some way out of the match, but Booker isn't dropping the title. A super mega blow off should be on tap for Wrestlemania.
Bobby Lashley ($3.5 million): Simple math here. JBL jobs to everybody now. Lashley jobs out everybody. He should go over clean as a whistle no problem.
Chloe ($500,000): It's all the money I have left and that's the team I want. I'm not going to just blow half a million, so might as well take the dog and hope for the best.
