Matt: This is what happens when Karma strikes. In the week that Chris is off and Mark was due to make his one night only return but was unable to do so due to various reasons, we get one idea for King Booker.
Just one.
It's not a good sign for the WWE when the IWC has lots of ideas for the break up of a mid-card comedy act like the Spirit Squad and very little for one of their World Champions. Regardless, I'm flying solo this week, but Chris will be back next week, and everything will be a-ok. Trust me. Anyway, onto the idea, and top, and indeed only billing goes to Matt W.
I'd say have Booker keep the title until Armageddon, at which point he loses it to Batista. The next Smackdown, he's in disbelief, and not even his court can cheer him up. He storms out and demands a rematch, and it's made for 2 weeks later. Batista beats him again, and Booker is even more distraught. The next week, his court starts alienating him, forgetting about him and trying to branch off. Next week you come back from some random commercial break and Book is laid out, covered in blood, and Lashley is already with him. He says he saw it, and it was Finlay and Regal who took Book out. Book takes a few weeks off to sell the injury while Lashley is out there every week defending Book's honor and calling them cowards for what they did. And when Book finally does come back, it's to attack Regal and Finlay while they're in a tag match obviously. But 2 on 1, he gets beat up, triggering Lashley to come out and chase away Regal and Finlay before they can do more damage. Book and Lashley challenge Regal and Finlay to a tag match at No Way Out. The match goes in Book's favor as he starts off house of fire, but doesn't want to tag out, he just keeps dishing out the beating to Regal and Finlay, whoever's in the ring. Book finally gets cut off and beaten down. Everytime he almost makes a tag to Lashley, they cut him off. Finally, Book hits a desperation Book End and tags out to Lashley, and Lashley goes to swing at Regal but stops, turns around, and hits Booker with a Belly to Belly suplex and just starts laughing, and he has Regal and Finlay finish the job and one of them pins Book.
Next SD, Lashley comes out with Regal and Finlay, and Regal explains that since Book no longer had the gold to use for a reason to be King, they had to find themselves someone who could be their next King. Book comes out on the ramp and challenges Regal and Finlay to matches, but at Wrestlemania... he wants Lashley. Mania comes around and Lashley actually beats Booker, clean, with a major beatdown afterwards the culminates in the Dominator off the ring steps through one of the announce tables.
Matt: This is actually a nice idea, in my books. Of course it requires Booker to pretty much retire after WM, to really work the beatdown, but yeah, this is a decent way to turn Booker face and have him ride off into the sunset. I just don't want that to happen.
And since that was the sole idea sent in, now, my idea.
Personally, given that Cena isn't going to SD, Booker is the strongest candidate to hold the belt for the foreseeable future, given Batista's heat loss and the train wreck that was Rey Mysterio: World Champion. That is, until a certain man returns. Although not a man, but rather a wolverine. Lashley loses at No Mercy due to Court Interference, and then challenges Booker to a Survivor Series match at WM. Booker/Regal/Finlay/Kennedy/MVP vs. Lashley/DAVE/Vito/Hardy/1 More. Booker accepts. At Survivor Series, Benoit returns and makes Booker tap out, leaving Benoit and Lashley as the survivors. Benoit then makes Booker tap again at Armageddon to win the belt…and then turns heel on Lashley, setting up Benoit/Lashley at Wrestlemania. But that's getting beyond the point. And the point is, Booker to Benoit at Armageddon…maybe the Rumble.
And that's it for this (unfortunately short) look at King Booker. So, let's see if this week's response is better received.
The WWE seems to be on a kick of hiring older stars. Which older star would you bring back, and how would you use them?
Well, thanks for reading, and send those ideas in to- finkspayload@gmail.com. Next week Chris will return and I'll still be the newbie in here.
