The Electro-Shock Treatment seems to have held. Now onto looking at the divas!
Matt: Hello, and welcome to the 2nd edition of the Fink's Payload V3.0…wait, sorry, V3.1. I am Mathew "101st Best Wrestler in Australia according to a politically minded and totally biased list" Sforcina.
Nick: I'm still your God among Gods and your man among children, and I can beat up at least twelve 8-year-olds at one time. With both arms tied behind my back, blindfolded and with extra strength ear plugs taking away my hearing. I'm just that good.
Matt: And, in between my long periods of MK: Armageddon, and my forgetting to enter the round-table, we bring you The Fink's Payload!
Before we begin, last week I asked if you'd want to see The Payload shift from the specific (WWE only) to a wider base (TNA and maybe ROH), as well as increasing the number of entries we print. And the response was…all over the place. The main issue the anti-TNA/ROH side had was the (quite reasonable) opinion that since TNA doesn't do as much story-based angles and such, that fantasy booking TNA is less interesting. And that is somewhat of a good point. Thus, we haven't decided yet on what to do. Next week we might have a poll here to vote or something, stay tuned.
But we will defiantly now include as many entries as we like. Screw the rules!
Oh yeah, the subject matter. We asked for ideas about the Women's tourney. I'm a diva fan, hence the question. Probably wasn't the best idea, given the HUGE number of responses, but we still got some good stuff. First off, we have B. Cris Reyes II, which is a cool name if anything.
I would have Lita lose to Maria following some Nitro-ference, at the request of Melina. This could be shown as a segment after the match with Melina thanking him for taking out her real competition. Then have Mickie James dispatch Melina after a solid one on one match that has Melina close to winning when she is hit with Lita-ference. This sets up Nitro and Edge, because of the ladies hatred for each other. I know a heel vs. heel feud is not recommended, but they can play up to it with a who is the bigger heel and bitch. You get men's singles, women's singles and tag matches. That will culminate in a Lita vs. Melina #1 contenders match. Also you could do the whole, Edge and Nitro get tired of the women putting them in the middle and they become friends and have to hide it from the women, because you can't be friends with a guy if your girl, don't like his girl. That would be comedy gold… Edge and Nitro are shown talking, and then one of the girls shows up, and they start pushing each other pretending to be defending their woman, said girl leaves cause she has a match or something logical and they start talking again, until the other one shows up…. But I digress.
Matt: We kinda lost the finals there, although Mickie vs. Maria is a…interesting match. You'd certain push Mickie into tweener territory there. But as for Edge vs. Nitro… I don't know about a feud. An alliance maybe, but not a feud.
Nick: While I'm definitely a fan of a little bit of complexity and having guys with more than one feud to focus on at a time, I'm not sure how I feel about feuding Edge with Nitro while he's currently wrapped up in what looks like it's going to be a big time feud with DX. It could work since Nitro is a heel (odd, ain't it?), but I can't exactly put my finger on why. It's along the lines of the fact that since Edge is currently feuding with basically the two top babyfaces on RAW and that they are likely the two most frustrating guys you could possibly feud with (both on and off screen, but let's ignore the latter), getting into it with an annoying dude like Nitro would definitely make sense. Your idea could also help as far as splitting up Lita and Edge, since Lita is apparently on her way out. My only qualm is that it might end up getting a bit close to Lita/Trish/Christian/Jericho territory.
Matt: And then, rounding out the entries-
Yeah, like I said, not the best idea. I'm still getting the hang of this.

Hey guys, this is Crow from Politics. Like your stuff over there in wrestling. Read it every chance I get. I've got a quick response to "next week's homework":
Why book it? We know it's going to Maria.
Matt: Do we? I thought it was going to be Mickie or Lita myself…
Nick: I've figured from the beginning exactly what Matt has, except now after Maria's convincing win last week, it is possible that she might get close. It could even set up some decent stories as far as the actual wrestlers on the show being angered at the fact that non-wrestler Maria stumbled backwards into winning the title. She could even hold the belt for a while, coming up with unorthodox ways of winning matches and showing (in a subtle way, please) that Maria might not be as dumb as she makes herself out to be. It has to be done carefully, though, because otherwise they could turn an already floundering Women's division into even more of a joke than it has been on its way to becoming ever since the Mickie/Trish feud ended unceremoniously.
As a side note, also, I'd LOVE for this tournament to evolve into them giving us a Mickie/Victoria feud (I think I mentioned this in one of my Friday columns). Victoria went crazy after Mickie beat her a few weeks ago – if Victoria can go back to her insane ways and somehow push Mickie back into hers, we could have a really good crazy face Mickie vs. crazy heel Victoria feud on our hands. BOOK IT~!
Matt: And as an added bonus and not just a way to fill up space, an additional from last week (even though you shouldn't resend ideas given the transitory nature of the column guys), Reinaldo E. Henry has an idea for a stable reunion, and is willing to risk the hatred that is Nick against The Past.
With Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble not to far away. I would bring back Evolution but as the first EVER interbrand stable. During Raw Edge and Randy Orton announced that they'll be joining forces to take on DX. On Smackdown, Kennedy is facing Undertaker in a No Mercy Rematch when Edge and Orton hit the ring and the three takes the boots to Taker. On ECW, the Big Show is crushing the competition as usual. When RVD, Sandman and Sabu try to get revenge for their past beatings. Unfortunately for them they get cut off by Edge, Orton and Kennedy. The four and Lita stand in the ring together and Orton talk of how HHH and HBK can bring back DX. He just brought back, EVOLUTION!!! Depending on the brand, determines who takes the lead of the group for that night. While the others take the role of background enforcres. It will set up two months of the best television done in a while. As you won't know who will end up on what show to attack whom.
Matt: Maybe, but it totally kills the Brand Extenstion and I'm not a huge fan of one guy reforming a stable unless he's the undisputed leader. But I'll let Nick loose here…
Nick: I want to rip out your spleen with a rusty axe and shove it up your nose, then take your nose bone and use it to gouge out your eyes, and then I'm going to shove your bloody eyeballs into your ears and kick you in the nuts, all while listening to the Backstreet Boys' "I Want it That Way".
Matt: And now, our ideas.
The semis are already announced. Lita/Maria and Melina/Mickie. Now the logical path is to have Lita and Mickie advance. I propose the reverse, make it Maria vs. Melina after Lita and Mickie take each other out, Lita costs Mickie then Mickie costs Lita. You then have those two fued over bragging rights while Melina wins the title, then defending it against everyone else, possibly with celebs by her side, thus having the shocking reality of two women's storylines going on at the same time.
But that would require some effort and what have you, so we'll get the Lita/Mickie "Choose what sex outfits they both wear" match. Dammit.
Nick: I'd book Lita and Mickie in the finals and have Victoria cause Mickie to get counted out, and the belt is still held up. This would lead to an elimination match at the Survivor Series featuring all 7 women who were a part of the tournament. Mickie and Victoria would go on a tear and eliminate Melina, Candace and Torrie and it would leave Mickie, Victoria, Lita and Maria. The first three would go at it for a while, and eventually Victoria would eliminate Mickie. She would distract Victoria, however, allowing Lita to pick up the elimination there, and a brawl would erupt inside the ring that Lita would find herself in the middle of, and she would get dropped by Victoria and the Widow's Peak, allowing Maria, who had been watching all of this go on and had been ignored since the first three women got eliminated, to get the pinfall on the taken out Lita. Then the two storylines I mentioned above could take place. Like Matt, I'd have two storylines at once going on in the Women's division. One with unlikely champion Maria and the other with a couple of insane women fighting it out, and eventually the two stories would interlock.
Matt: And that's a wrap. So, next week's homework…
An inter-brand Survivor Series (or maybe, just maybe, Wargames) type match seems likely. But the PPV should really have several of these style of matches. Book a sole-brand Survivor Series match.
