The Wrestling News Experience: 11.06.06
Posted by Stephen Randle on 11.06.2006

Good morning everyone, and welcome to the Experience. I'm Stephen Randle, and in case you were interested, Suddam Hussein was found guilty for crimes against humanity. In other news, a giant ball of flaming gas rose in the east this morning. But this isn't the Politics Zone, here, we're all about wrestling. Which does involve a certain amount of politics, but at least there's no big megalomaniacal dictators running things.

Oh, wait.

Anyway, it's been a fun-filled weekend of voting for everyone, what with Cyber Sunday and all, but there's still time for the most important vote of all. No, not the American mid-term elections. Yes, there's still time to vote for me in the Great Positivity Debate 3: Super Mega Ultra Remix Edition. They said it couldn't be done, they said I was crazy to even try, but it turns out that I have the power, I have the positivity, and I have the larger and more loyal fanbase, because as I write this, I am currently up by 5% of the vote. That's a nice margin, but I'm not resting on my laurels. I need you, my friends and fans, to get out there and vote for me. Because when I win, we all win. Except JP and JT, and really, their egos have been getting out of control lately.

The Leafs are hot, the weather is cold, and I'm twelve hours into Final Fantasy XII. Let's get started.

PPV In Review

Over the day while I've been writing this, I've developed what could best be described as a severe case of death. At least, it feels that way. So, some things this week are going to be reeeeal quick and dirty. I apologize wholeheartedly, but I'd rather avoid throwing up on my keyboard.

I also apologize for that visual image.

Larry, meanwhile, had the live coverage.

Umaga defeated Kane

Cryme Tyme defeated The Highlanders, Cade and Murdoch, and Haas and Viscera in a Texas Tornado match

Jeff Hardy defeated Carlito to retain the Intercontinental Championship

Randy Orton and Edge defeated D-Generation X

Bischoff was the special referee, and looks to be aligned with Orton and Edge. I'll pause so you can pretend to be shocked.

Lita defeated Mickie James in a Lumberjack match to win the Women's Championship

Roddy Piper and Ric Flair defeated The Spirit Squad to win the World Tag Team Championship

A bit shocked people chose Roddy, and WWE didn't fix the vote, since of the three, he's the one most likely to do something stupid and get yanked off TV.

King Booker defeated John Cena and Big Show to retain the World Heavyweight Championship

I don't think anyone really thought that would be the title on the line, or the result. But hey, that epic Cena-K Fed feud continues for some reason.

Around The Horn

A rumor is floating around that the Big Show is planning to retire following a big matchup with Hogan at WrestleMania 23, in an attempt to recapture the magic of Andre vs Hogan. I mean, Hogan's twenty years older, Big Show is nowhere near as big a star as Andre, it's not at the Silverdome, and Hogan's not going to ignite the next wrestling boom by beating Show. But it is Hogan fighting a big giant guy, so I guess it has that aspect going for it.

Batista will be appearing on Smallville. But the Hulk is Marvel, so what other role could he possibly play?

Vito has posed mostly nude for Playgirl magazine. Well, it's not like it could possibly hurt his popularity.

Secondary joke to that statement: man, wrestling is gay.

Hulk Hogan's new DVD set debuted #1 on the Billboard chart that essentially tracks wrestling DVD sales, and on occasion the latest SI swimsuit edition DVD. So it wasn't a big shock, is what I'm saying.

CM Punk appeared on a show called Ghost Hunters and instantly they popped a bigger rating than normal. Expect Punk to job to Mike Knox in the near future.

Slow week for news, fortunately for me, cuz I'm sick, and unfortunate for you, because it really shortens the report. I'll make up for it next week. Probably.

The Injury Bug Bites

Inactive List as of 10.30.06

WWE

- Beth Phoenix, RAW, out two months as of June 6 (jaw)
- Chris Jericho, out indefinitely (kayfabe, fired)
- Joey Mercury, SD!, out indefinitely as of May 22 (Wellness)
- Mark Henry, SD!, out 6-8 months as of July 15th (patella)
- Paul Burchill, SD!, out indefinitely as of May 29 (shoulder)
- Squire David Taylor, SD!, out indefinitely as of October 27th (leg injury)
- The Great Khali, SD!, out indefinitely (double knee surgery)

TNA

- Gail Kim, TNA, day-to-day as of October 22

Transactions

- Claudio Castagnoli, offered WWE developmental contract

I mention this because I've been hearing people fall all over themselves about this guy and his tag partner in ROH lately. But can't you just wait until he shows up as part of the FBI, just to hear people cry about him being wasted?

Why yes, I am evil.

- Daivari, SD!, moved to ECW
- The Great Khali, SD!, moved to ECW

Except, get this, they're going to have Daivari, the actual talented wrestler, have the actual matches, and have Khali stand outside the ring and look menacing. Maybe Heyman really does have full creative control over ECW.

One Year Ago This Experience

Originally posted 11.07.05, and Joey Styles debuted as Raw's new play-by-play guy. Eventually, politics and the fact that nobody's going to replace Jim Ross until he dies or loses all ability to speak, saw Styles replaced around WrestleMania. But at least it was better than having the Coach on commentary.

Links For Fun And Nonprofit

Small and the Harry Smith to my....dammit, Creative couldn't think of anything to put here had the weekend news.

Larry had Cyber Sunday coverage.

From the glowing box, Slimmer and Small have Heat, Larry has Hogan Knows Best, Cook has OVW/HWA, Larry and Ashish have Smackdown, and Byers and Larry have Impact.

Hamflett with Story Lines.

Boo with Ringside or Cheap Seats

Ari with Column of Honor

Linkous with WWE vs TNA

Carapola with The Week In Hardcore.

Feltham with the Quick Talkdown

And One To Go On

Everything else usually found in my report is on one week temporary hiatus due to the fact that I just got to enjoy my dinner a second time. Back next week at 100%, but until then, vote for me some more.

411 will have live coverage of Raw tonight starting at 9pm EST, and live coverage of ECW on Sci Fi tomorrow night starting at 10 pm EST. Larry's in tomorrow, I'm back next week.

Have a good one, and always be a fan.
