Double M’s Rasslin’ Report 12.09.06

If a condition of my employment was to watch my child get raped once a week, I’d probably want to leave, too.
On this day I see clearly; everything has come to life. That's right, I went there, but for a completely different reason. But then that would entail discussing my personal life, which you know I don't do because it would bore you and it's none of your business. No offense.
Howdy and thanks for coming back for another Saturday report. Since I'm a little rushed and can't WAIT to get to Melbourne tonight to see Twisted BY-GAWD Sister (~!) live, I say we make like the old 3 Live Krew and do the damn thing...
Okay, This Is Boring – What Else Is There To Read?
Based on the lack of build-up, the potential for disaster and My Favorite Writer™'s take on the show, I'm glad I didn't watch December To Dismember. As horrible as the show sounded, I'm also glad it wasn't a November To Remember.
And last but not least...we're hiring! So put your game face on, crank out your best work, and join the team! Also notice that I'm not on the hiring board for 411 Music (which is okay by me, really), but for an immodest fee, I can certainly sway the Powers That Be a little more in your favor.
It Ain't 1998, But It's All We Got
I love how this stuff happens right after my report goes up, thereby kicking me right in my sack.
The VKM skits may border on pointless sometimes, but I have to give them credit for this one. Not only did BG and Kip film outside of a WWE Raw house show, but then they actually went inside the building to tape there, too. That's more than I can say for the old DX, I have to admit.
Now, if they're serious about all of this, what they really need to do is this same thing at an actual Raw televised event. If you're really serious about this "war", then let's see some cajones, boys. Let's see this go to the next level. Because you realize that, if you're doing this with the intent to stay under the radar, then this is all for naught. However, with some real publicity, then the goal you want to achieve is gained. You just have to have the grapefruits (pardon the pun) to do it.
The Rest Of The News That's Fit To Post
Two big stories this week, folks. That's it. But I promise a lengthier commentary on our first one...
Well...if a condition of my employment was to watch my child get raped once a week, I'd probably want to leave, too. I mean come on, I know we have the "positive" types out there – the ones that would be singing "Look On The Bright Side Of Life" whilst nailed to a cross – but can we declare ECW an abject failure now? This has little to do with ECW "being almost nothing like the ‘old' ECW" and much more to do with the fact that there's virtually no difference between the so-called "separate brands" (no matter what Linda McMahon would have us believe – lady, we're not stupid) at all.
I mean, aside from the rosters, what exactly is the difference between Raw, SmackDown, and ECW? Well, you have mostly the same crew of writers taking care of all 3 shows, the answer is not a lot. The way it should be done is that there's a completely separate team for all three shows, with Vince McMahon giving final approval over all three. That would be the smart way to do the Split, but WWE doesn't do things the ‘smart' way – they do them the McMahon way.
Because of that, we have what was once a revered and still viable promotion resurrected to look just like the stuff banal stuff we already see two nights of the week – which is what ECW rebelled against in the first place. That's the reason it produced such compelling and "out there" television in the first place; it wanted to be the alternative. Now it's just the "same old". And because of that, ECW may be slowly signing off for good.
My prediction: ECW will be around long enough for WWE to have the "history making" vibe that having all three brands will lend to WrestleMania 23, then will be phased out while WWE and the McMahons cite it as a failure, little realizing that they're the ones who murdered it.
Finally, in other related but dissimilar news, Big Show is out as well, although he's not leaving the company outright. After the current European run, Show is taking time out to heal several nagging injuries. Good for him, I say. The guy's gone several years without any sort of break; he needs a little R&R. He can always come back to SmackDown or Raw, since who knows if there'll be an ECW still around when he does.
Happy Trails
And that's it, kids. This is what happens when you have one main story and very little else to work with. I'm sure there'll be more next week, so come back in 7 days to see what happened in the wild world of wrestling.
