Story Lines 12.14.06: An Empty Stocking

It's a crazy Christmas cop-out!!
So is anyone else stuck in that so-close-to-Christmas rut? You know, where it's all over the TV, but not anywhere near. Well, over a good week away. Frankly, I can't wait for the festive season. However, this does mean a minor break in the column. Seemingly in line with my promotion of sorts to Thursdays, I will not be able to post a column for next Thursday (21st) or the following one (28th) due to my visit home, and home's distinct lack of internet. Furthermore, lingering work stuff has meant a severe lack of free time to produce a decent column that is worthy of print. But fear not, using techniques stolen from other writers far and wide, I've attempted to appease you the reader, with plentiful Christmas gifts. Enjoy the following Christmas themed images scraped from the wide and weird undergrowth that is the internet to add to your picture collections. Hopefully some will be new to you, there are some oldies, but they're all goodies. Merry Christmas.
The Best There Is, The Best There Was, and the Best There Ever Will Be, but only if you've been good little boys and girls (hah, or, for the benefit of this column…just boys…*sigh*…)
If you've been bad though, it's Christmas Creature matches all year round for you!
All December weather puns aside, she just looks really hot, even in that hat.
Remember to be polite, even if you get the wrong gift.
And for that matter, don't assume that what you DID want will be as good as you thought it might be...
And yes, there's always that embarrassing moment where Dad has too much eggnog...
But remember, despite the minor disappointments that a Christmas may bring, it's actually a time to celebrate the birth of our lord and saviour…
So be polite, and smile no matter how much things suck…
Because even though you thought it might be awesome this year…
It will probably only end up being disappointing on reflection…
Now how's THAT for festive cheer?!
Well I didn't get my 411 Xmas Bonus from Larry Scrooge, why should I be merry?? In all honesty, I look forward to getting back into the regular groove of the column come 2007, (Jan 4th no less), as I will miss this baby over my Christmas. To anyone reading, anyone who wouldn't normally but won't see this till they scan through the archives in years to come, and to all at 411, have the happiest of happy holidays, and an awesome new year. See you in the future.
