LOOK INTO MY ROYAL RUMBLE CRYSTAL BALLS!
By Phill Feltham
Tomorrow is the Royal Rumble. Tomorrow another WWE superstar will join the long list of winners that began with Hacksaw Jim Duggan in 1988 to Rey Mysterio last year. Let's take a look at the participant's chances. The chances are rated out of ten in brackets.
Shelton Benjamin -- Benjamin is good, but needs a lot more work before he can even be considered as a WWE Champion. (2 out of 10)
Chris Benoit -- Benoit would be a great choice. Why not? Superstars like Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair are still getting their opportunities, let Benoit have another one. (7 out of 10)
Carlito -- This kid still has a lot of growing up to do. He should start by shining up that apple and giving it to McMahon everyday when he comes to work. (4 out of 10)
Tommy Dreamer -- He's an ECW Original. Vince has a grudge against non-made WWE superstars. If he wins, I'll wear a dress to work! (2 out of 10)
Kenny Dykstra -- Vince, you bastard! You killed Kenny!! (4 out of 10)
Edge -- Triple H is gone and he's about to enter into a feud with Randy Orton. I like Edge's chances. (8 out of 10)
Finlay -- He's a tough Irishman, but I think his little friend has a higher chance of winning the match. (3 out of 10)
Ric Flair -- Another run at the belt would be the comeback of the century for Ric Flair diehards. (7 out of 10)
Chavo Guerrero -- Eddie Guerrero he is NOT! (4 out of 10)
Jeff Hardy -- See Matt Hardy. (7 out of 10)
Matt Hardy -- Jim Ross said that it's "high unlikely" that Matt or Jeff will snag the World title this year. How would Ross know, especially if he's not involved in the creative process anymore. Hypocritical Mr. Ross. (7 out of 10)
Gregory Helms -- A congrats is in order for the WWE Cruiserweight Champion. As of Monday, he's held that title for a year. It's too bad that he won't win the Royal Rumble. (3 out of 10)
Hardcore Holly -- Bob, you're just like Kane. You're just... there. Don't expect to say that to his face though. (5 out of 10)
Kane -- He's just like Bob Holly. The only difference is that a World title reign (a lengthy one) could still be in the cards for the Big Red Machine. (6 out of 10)
King Booker -- His chances are good, but I think he'll get the Royal Flush. He'll eat concrete.
Chris Masters -- This guy has tons of potential. But even the Masterlock won't give him victory to the Royal Rumble.. yet.
Shawn Michaels -- Don't cry Shawn, Mr. Three H's will be back. In the meantime, get ready for a possible three time win. (8 out of 10)
The Miz -- He reminds me of a journalist trying to be a wrestler. He reminds me of a Kevin Federline or a David Arquette. As time goes on, I'm sure that will change. (2 out of 10)
Johnny Nitro -- Here's a young blonde that's destined for greatness... to quote Jim Ross.. just 'not yet'. (7 out of 10)
Randy Orton -- He's the next Hulk Hogan I tell you! (8 out of 10)
Montel Vontavious Porter -- Finally P Diddy has arrived as a WWE superstar! But I like this guy. His chances might not be good for the Royal Rumble, but potential for superstardom is definitely there. (7 out of 10)
CM Punk -- I like this guy, but he's fresh talent. I don't expect Mr. Punk to win this year. (4 out of 10)
Sabu -- He's an ECW Original, a product of Paul Heyman. Well, that's how Vince McMahon might view it. I see him either throwing himself out of the ring or lasting awhile.
Sandman -- Do you remember the Bushwhakers? Butch and Luke. Now, I'm not saying that the Sandman is one of them. I'm just saying that his time in the Royal Rumble is comparable to theirs -- only a few seconds. (2 out of 10)
The Great Khali -- Giant Gonzalez all over again. He'll eliminate tons of guys so he gets over for WrestleMania and either A) ten wrestlers will eliminate him or B) he'll eliminate himself. Possibly someone like the Undertaker could do it too. Who knows. (5 out of 10)
Kevin Thorn -- This guy's gimmick is cool. He reminds me of a young Undertaker with a little more character. However, his chances at winning? (3 out of 10)
Undertaker -- He'll be a huge impact player for sure. I might go as far as to say he might win. He'll last awhile in the Rumble for sure making some high profile eliminations (8 out of 10)
Rob Van Dam -- Two things are working against Rob Van Dam right now. He was able to get over his ECW Original status long enough to become a WWE World Champion and the first ever Pseudo-ECW World Champion.
Viscera -- This over Heat superstar will clumsily get eliminated by some midcarder(s) getting ready to be elevated for main event status. (1 out of 10)
Super Crazy -- No way! Kurt Angle has a better chance of winning. Wait a sec! He's not with the WWE anymore!
TNA GOES TO THE DOGS!
Not really. TNA on a Monday Night while competing against a Dog Show that night will only help their profile as the wrestling alternative. Watch the Dog Show win in the ratings though.
GOOD MATCH Vs. THE BOTTOM LINE
I love some of the quotes Jim Ross comes up with. He recently spoke on Hulk Hogan, Lou Thesz and Ric Flair. He didn't exactly say who was better, but I agree with one of his quotes. "I have known many excellent wrestlers who, for what ever reason, could not sell tickets and that is the name of the game in pro wrestling, generating revenue. No one likes a great, pure wrestling match better than me, but selling tickets is still the bottom line." Anyone disagree? metrodivisions@yahoo.com
VITO AND GOLDUST
Did anyone else besides me find Vito's promo on WWE.com disturbing? I have a good idea. First, bring back Goldust. Then put Vito and Goldust together as a tag team called the Cross Dressers. Controversy abound! It would definitely make headlines, that's for sure.
KURT ANGLE LOVES HIS MOUTH
Kurt Angle definitely passed the oral this pass week on Bubba the Love Sponge Radio Show. Here are some tthe hightlights.
-- He says Hulk Hogan might make the move to TNA. This would be big business. But think about it, could that little promotion continue to give Hogan a huge payoff on an ongoing basis? The difference between WCW and TNA for Hogan now is age and money. Hogan is older with different priorities while still making huge amounts of money from WWE, his television show and other projects. Is it a good career move for him to go to TNA? Reply to metrodivisions@yahoo.com
-- I wonder about Chris Jericho, the Big Show and Goldberg moving to TNA. Huge draws for the promotion for sure.
-- Angle thinks Christian should be worked more as a heel. He already is a great heel. He'll get better over time while Kurt Angle's ego gets bigger over time too.
