Not An Evolution Schematic 02.07.07: End of Phase One

Well then.

For those of you with long memories and a smidge too much time on your hands, you’ll remember that I won this column in the Smark Superstar, a little competition run just after The SpLit, in which the forumers were given a chance to get a column. I, having tried and failed to do an opinion piece on the strength of filling in for Ron and generally stalking him, threw my hat in the ring with a little gimmick column on kayfabe character changes, and how, in my infinite wisdom and intelligence, could rationalize them.

I started with HHH. I showed how yeah, a snobby French aristocrat CAN go to a loveable degenerate obsessed with his penis. That was good enough to get me into the second round.

Then I did JBL, and I talked about how actually, yes, you can rationalize JBL’s sudden turn to rich guy, and include those periods of being both a tool of darkness and a strip joint visiting drunk.

And that was good enough to get me in. It was hoped I would do better than the Rantwars guy did. So, to ensure this, I started at the top, for my first official column.

I started with Stevie Richards.

And so on. Slowly over time, I began to say more. I began to give more detail, as my sources became more reliable and I learnt how to use them better. I then took a risk with Wargames, and thus began the alternating approach I use now, characters and plot points.

But then…

100 or so columns later, and a little over 2 years later, and things aren’t as rosy. I mean, I still love the concept, and still have plenty of ideas.

Backlund! WWE Video Games! The Dudleys! Austin! ECW World Title! Muta! Interview Segments! Shane-O-Mac! WWE World Title! Benoit! Malenko! I Quit! Foley! Rock!

And, of course, the biggest one…

(Holds up four fingers.) Woooo.

But right now…It’s just not happening. I just can’t get the thoughts down on paper, or computer screen, you know what I mean.

So, for a while, the Evolution Schematic is on hiatus. I don’t want to set a time when it will return, but it will. Perhaps not in exactly the same form, but it will be back, sooner rather than later.

But don’t worry, the Payload is safe, and I’ll still be around in roundtables and EWR and making posts in the forum that will be edited to become racist.

But for now…Phase One is now over.

But that damm sure doesn’t mean it’s Conclusion Time.
