The Fink’s Payload 02.26.07: New Breed Vs. Originals.
Posted by Sforcina-Marsico on 02.26.2007

Matt: Hiya, I'm Mathew Sforcina, and I'm jumping on the ‘Delirious for ROH World Champ' bandwagon now, even if it's got no wheels, no steering and no forward momentum.I'm also to blame for their being no Payload last week due to me lateness of putting this togeter. So, to make up for it, a super-special triple shot this week!

Nick: Good day, fine citizens.

Dan: And back by popular demand or sheer coincidence, I'm Daniel Wilcox of Schmozzes & Screwjobs. I'm on the ever-so lonely ‘Miz for WWE World Champ' bandwagon.

Matt: Still, as the Airplane/Flying High reference in the teaser said, this week is a little lighter.

Hell, a lot lighter. Which is good really. I swear.

Actually I'm just kicking myself for putting the words ‘Show Stealer' in the homework. No more hyping, Matt. I was just caught up in what I think is one of my best ever ideas…there I go again! Dammit.

Anyway, we start with Angelo Velotta and how he wants to tear everything down.

It starts off this week on ECW with Balls Mahoney, Tommy Dreamer, The Sandman, Sabu and RVD in the ring. Dreamer has the mic and starts bashing Vince saying he never gave a damn about ECW or the originals, and the only reason he brought it back was to try and make more money then Donald Trump! RVD takes the mic and starts talking about being how they are all so talented and don't deserve to be getting the Funaki treatment! This brings out Matt Striker, Marcus Cor Von, Elijah Burke and Kevin Thorn. Striker degrades each of the ECW originals and tell them their time is up, and to take their remaining money and blow it on some more weed, but get away from them because they are about to be the next stars. A match is set for next week 5-5 with a special guest New Breed member.

Next week, the match is set but starts off as a 5-4, with the Originals actually getting their chance to shine. At the end of the match Sabu and Elijah Burke are in the ring and Sabu locks on the Camel Clutch. Striker then distracts the ref and RVD comes into the ring and nails Sabu with a spinning heel kick! Burke then gets the cover for the win. After the match RVD along with the New Breed leave through the crowd.

The next week the originals are seen in the back talking about how RVD screwed them. Dreamer says it's alright though because they already have the next "Whole F'N Show" with them, CM Punk!! That night Marcus Cor Von defeats Balls Mahoney, but Sabu defeats Matt Striker.

The week after that CM Punk cuts a promo talking about delivering the dream match everyone wants to see, him vs. RVD no rules, and Punk finally rising to the top of ECW. We also see a six man tag with Striker, Burke and Thorn defeating Mahoney, Dreamer and The Sandman.

The week after that we see Sabu and Punk vs. RVD and Burke, but the match ends in a Double DQ after all 4 men bring weapons into the match. The show ends with all of the originals and new breed coming out and brawling. Punk and RVD are broken up by security but they fight them off to fight through the crowd. Meanwhile Sabu hits the Arabian Legdrop through the announcer's table on Burke!

The final week before Wrestlemania we find out there is going to be 4 new breed vs. original matchups tonight, with the winning team being the survivors in this war. Only if it is a tie after 4 matches then we get to see RVD vs. CM Punk at Wrestlemania and a 4 on 4 tag match as two tie breakers. Cor Von defeats Dreamer, Striker defeats Balls, Sabu defeats Burke, and The Sandman defeats Thorn making it a tie. At the end of the show we see RVD and Burke brawling backstage and then out to the parking lot.

At Wrestlemania in the first of 2 tie breakers, the New Breed defeats The Originals in the 4 on 4 matchup after Matt Striker pins Sabu. In the second of two tie breakers we have RVD vs. CM Punk. This match goes back and forth for about 20 minutes of grueling action before Punk gets RVD to tap out in the Anaconda Vice! But now we again have a tie in the war between the Breed and the Originals. It is announced we will get to see one match next week on ECW, a 30 minute Iron Man Match between Punk and RVD, with all other Original and New Breed members as Lumberjacks!

The next week on ECW the 30 minute Iron Man Match takes place is unbelievable. At 25 minutes in there have been no pinfalls or submissions. RVD has the New Breed slide in a ladder and a chair. He hits Punk with some kicks and then Rolling thunder. He sets him the corner and puts a chair in front of his face. RVD climbs the ladder and nails Punk with an off the ladder Van Terminator!!!!!! RVD pins Punk leading 1-0, with about 2 minutes left. Punk is bleeding like a bitch now. All of the Originals comes into the ring and start beating down RVD but then the New Breed all come in and we have a brawl. Out of nowhere runs down Lashley, who spears the hell out of RVD and lays Punk on top for the cover. We are tied 1-1 at the end of thirty minutes. We now enter sudden death and as soon as it starts Lashley hits RVD with the Dominator! He picks up Punk again and to put him on top of RVD but then hits Punk with the running powerslam! Lashley puts RVD on top of Punk for the win! After the match Lashley celebrates with the New Breed as the crowd throws stuff into the ring. Vince comes out and personally fires each and every one of the ECW originals except CM Punk. He picks Punk up by his bloodied head and looks at him. He then lowers his pants and makes Punk kiss his ass. Punk ends up having to kiss his ass, but in retaliation low blows Vince repeatedly! Punk covered in blood and humiliated picks up a mic and says "he may have been fired from ECW but he's not done wrestling. He thanks the ECW fans and tells them just like RVD was the whole f'n show, and i took that role, I'm about to take his other role as well........Mr. Monday Night!!!!!!

Matt: Firstly, this was very nicely typed, with no spelling mistakes and nice formatting. Most of the entries are, but this one was moreso, and that made me very happy, so congrats for that. As for the idea, apart from the fact that ECW has to be around till December due to the contract, this would be a nice way to end it. Lashley should be a silent heel anyway.

Nick: I don't like turning RVD heel. I'd much prefer seeing Punk being a bit of an ally to the Originals and mostly just an on-camera friend of sorts with RVD without really getting involved with the feud, and then at some point soon, like at WrestleMania while the Originals celebrate a victory, Punk turns on Van Dam and beats the hell out of him for his lifestyle.

Dan: I'm all for the New Breed going over so that everyone can finally realize this is a NEW ECW, and I'm all for making CM Punk a big star and moving him to Raw, and I also think that heel turns for Lashley or RVD could work, but after Punk moves to Raw, you have Lashley and RVD, the top two guys, as heels and your biggest face has just left the show. So in theory, this all sounds great, but I'd be a bit worried with what's left after this. One other thing, why would you have two tie-breakers?! Other than that I thought this was a really solid entry.

Matt: And the second and last ‘official' entry is Travis Freaking Homewood. Ever noticed how his name is like ‘Homework'? Maybe that's why he keeps doing it.

Or not.

I want to see ECW get 2 matches on the WrestleMania card at least. One, a nice tag team opener Dreamer and Sandman vs. Marquis Cor Von, Matt Striker and Kevin Thorne. Extreme Rules handicap tag team match. Give them some chair shots, a table spot and a whole lot of canes, Singapore and Thorne style. Heck if we can get them both to work on it a small spot where Thorne and Sandman actually sword fight in the ring with their canes could be pretty sweet. Since this is the opening bout at Mania I would want to see the good guys, (ECW originals) go over with the victory and surprise help of Sabu.

Then later in the night we get the Money In The Bank ladder match which has Sabu and Burke both competing from ECW. I would have Kennedy and Mysterio from SmackDown and from Raw Carlito and Masters. I know a lot of people don't think he belongs but I don't dislike this guy and can't see too many others that are established enough to be in the match but throw away enough to not have a higher profile match on the card. So we got our six. During the course of the match Sabu hits the springboard leg lariat and knocks down Burke. He sets up the ladder and is climbing when from out of the crowd comes Striker. He pushes Sabu off of the ladder and he falls to the outside and goes through a table. From the back come Cor Von and Thorne to lay the beat down on Sabu while Burke tries to climb to get the briefcase. Masters up behind him, grabs him and slaps the Masterlock on Burke and turns so his back is to the ladder and Burke's feet are on the rung below his. Then while he is holding Burke up the other side of the ladder Kennedy steals the briefcase and just for good measure as soon as he pulls it down nails Masters in the back of the head with it.

Since Sabu had plenty of interference from non participants that allows him to try to lay claim to the ECW title after Mania where I would hope that Lashley defends the title against RVD and whether or not the title changes hands the next Tuesday on ECW Sabu says since he was robbed he wants an Extreme Rules match for the ECW title wherein he can be cost the title again by the New Blood. Particularly Burke and Cor Von so they can look like they are capable with hanging with the big boys so to speak.

Matt: Apart from MASTERS IN THE FRICKING MITB MATCH AGAIN, pretty sweet. And seeing the Sandman in a Kill Bill type cane fight would be awesome for many bad reasons.

Nick: I love Kennedy, but I don't want him winning Money in the Bank. He's done enough and his character and status are well defined enough at this point that it seems like such an unnecessary crutch for them to give him. On the handicap match, just no. I hate handicap matches as it is, and to have one on WrestleMania is just preposterous, especially in an angle like this one. There's no reason to not just do a 3-on-3 or 4-on-4 match.

Dan: You know what I like best about this idea? Masters being made to look like an idiot, allowing Kennedy to climb up behind him and grab the briefcase, pure genius. Anyway, I like making the New Breed look strong because I think they all have big futures in the E, and Sabu is going nowhere fast so why not sacrifice him? Great idea here.

Matt: Then, in the first unofficial entry, Chris Hynes is a little late on his MITB idea. Although since he's from LI, New York, whatever town that is, I'll include it on the basis that according to TV, New York is filled with criminals and taxi drivers, and I don't want either mad at me.

MITB will be the first match this year for WrestleMania, which is important for later on during the match. Like others, I am taking 2 stars per brand. Initially I wanted to balance out the heel/face dynamic, however I decided to go against this as each star represents a dynamic:

From Raw:
Kenny Dykstra: The Young and Up and comer, give him a chance to shine and build for the rest of the year. Note I would be willing to take him out to get him in the Flair-Carlito program as Flair's newest protégé; don't ask how.
Umaga: He will serve as the Monster, for big spots. AAE can also get a spot in. Perhaps have him climb the ladder to get the briefcase, only to sent crashing down by the SmackDown face.

From ECW:
C.M. Punk: the Darling of IWC, could get some real high spots.
Marcus Cor Von: To show the boys in TNA that if you come, you will have a chance to be in high spots in the 'E. Unfortunately he has no shot to win.

From SmackDown!:
Chris Benoit: He will serve as the general for the match, to make sure it does not become a cluster F.
Misteeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrr Kennedy .. . ... . .. Kennedy

Kennedy will win the match. Perhaps claiming the briefcase after struggling with Benoit. Teasing the internet thinking Benoit is about to get it, only for Kennedy to low blowing, or other method to insure Kennedy gets some heat. And he will be getting alot more heat later tonight.

Taker defeats Batista in the main event, the match itself was long and grueling, with both men having been cut opened, each having kicked out of the other's finisher. There is still about ten minutes left in the broadcast, which seems early, but not too conspicuous. Taker is raising the belt in the middle of the ring, and the ring is all blacklight to celebrate his victory, but that is it. No balloons or confetti. When all of a sudden, a loud thud sound is heard and Taker is down on the mat. We see Kennedy. He gets on the mic, and says he is taking his shot NOW. Kennedy gets the referee to come back into the ring. Kennedy performs a powerbomb, followed by a Kenton Bomb. And 1 - 2 - 3.

What this does is the following:

1. Kennedy keeps his programs going with both Taker and Batista, as they both want their rematch clause.

2. Gives Kennedy his first run, and we can see him as HTM type champ, where he is not afraid of the DQ victory. A clause that Long will get sick of, causing more tension between the 2.

3. Gives Kennedy the ultimate rub, as the man to finally pin UT on WM, thus insuring his star status for years.

Matt: So, your plan is to have Taker lose in 15 seconds at WM? Even after a match, even with that very specific idea, No Way. NO WAY.

Nick: EW. I already talked about how I absolutely see no reason to have Kennedy win, and your scenario at the end of the show actually makes it worse, even though he won't be carrying around the briefcase for half a year due to it. Also, your finish here is basically the exact finish of the MITB at WM21, as Edge hit Benoit with a chair just as Benoit was about to reach the top of the ladder and get the briefcase. I dislike this idea all around. If you're keeping score, I haven't liked an idea yet today.

Dan: Marcus Cor Van in MITB would be awesome if he POUNCED the ladder while someone is at the top and they go crashing to the floor. I like Kennedy winning but as for the beating Taker to close out the show, it's not happening.

Matt: And finally, Dan from Brooklyn focused too much on the ‘Showstealer' part of the Homework...

After the Foley firing angle it was assumed for months he would return to fight Vince at Mania, but with that seemingly out of the picture, he returns to go after those who truly screwed him...Nitro & Melina. Foley challenges Nitro to a fight, but gets attacked by Mercury and MNM leave him bloodied and beaten. The next week Foley demands a handicap match but after Melina interferes he gets beaten down again until Ric Flair makes the save and chases off MNM. Flair, who has been ranting on Raw for weeks at this point about his "spot" and his legacy ala the Carlito promo, tells Foley that while they had their differences, he always respected Foley's effort and says together they will steal the Wrestlemania spotlight from MNM. In Detroit at WM 23, The Hardcore Icon, and the Greatest of All-time team against MNM in a Hardcore match. Foley has been gold in Hardcore matches the last few years notably with Orton, Edge, and Flair last year and Flair has been crazy as well in brawls with Big Show and Triple H. Everyone ends up bloody, and Foley gets his big Mania win since MNM don't need the win to be big time tag contenders on either brand.

Matt: I think Flair will be busy elsewhere, but otherwise, good for what it is.

Nick: Flair has been completely adamant that he DOESN'T respect what Foley has done. That was the impetus of both their off and on camera feuds. It doesn't make a lick of sense for him to change his mind on that. The idea isn't awful beyond that, but that part really takes it down for me.

Dan: I love the set-up and the match itself, but I would prefer if MNM went over. Sure it's repetitive but you can't deny the rub guys get from beating Foley in Hardcore matches. Like Matt said, Flair will probably have other business so it's a shame there's no chance of this happening.

Matt: And that's it. So then, our ideas.

To clairfy, my ECW MITB reps are CM Punk and Holly, playing spot monkey and big bad bully respectively. Ok, it begins this week on ECW when the Originals (Sandman, Dreamer, Sabu, Balls and RVD) come out to talk. After a short while, the New Breed comes out (Monty Brown…no, I will not use that name, Elijah Burke, Matt Stryker, Kevin Thorne with Ariel and Mike Knox in a surprise). Burke runs down the Originals, intros Knox as their new enforcer…and Here's Vince!

He says that while he fully supports the New Breed, and thinks they should be the sole guys and how the old ECW sucks, blahblahblah, the extra attention WWE is getting with Trump and WM coming up and all that has made his stockholders slightly on edge. And also (in a little bit of ECW homage), the network, Sci-Fi, is a little concerned that the playing field isn't fair. Vince blasts them for their stupidity (‘Most of the shows on this network are about small groups fighting back against vast numbers. Well, that and scantily clad women, but we've covered that."), then, in the interest of keeping his investors happy, he appoints a new ECW GM.

Stevie Richards. (I was going to put Dusty, but he's been taken out.)

Stevie thanks Mr. McMahon, but warns him that he feels loyalty to both the Originals and him, so he will be fair. After setting up his office (a framed white shirt and tie here, a pin up of Victoria there), he announces that there will be a big 10 man tag match at WM, to match the 4 way ECW Title match. New Breed vs. Originals. He says that across the new few weeks, 6 matches will be held between members of the groups in order to decide which side gets to pick the stipulation for the tag match at WM. The New Breed take the lead, with Stryker and Brown beating Balls and Sabu, while crowing about their straight up, one fall match they will have. Then the vets come back, with Sandman and Dreamer getting shock wins over Thorne and Knox, looking forward to their massive elimination Extreme Rules brawl. So it comes down to RVD vs. Burke.

This ends in a clusterfuck of epic proportions. So Stevie is left to make the match. His decision?

WARGAMES! Using the Hell Cell, in order to avoid the cost of a second ring.

Nick: No need to build, because my important stuff happens at WrestleMania. At WM, it's an 8-man extreme rules elimination tag – Striker, Cor Von, Burke & Thorn vs. Van Dam, Sandman, Sabu & Dreamer. In the end, Van Dam comes out on top, surviving past Burke and Thorn to win the match. Afterward, CM Punk comes out to congratulate him. For a bit of background on that (which I alluded to earlier), Punk has become a bit of an ally to the Originals. He has helped them out a couple times during brawls and has been a friend and a bit of a protégé of Van Dam. I don't like using that exact word, but it's close enough. They're pals. Anyway, Punk, who has been supporting the Originals all the way, comes out to congratulate Rob, but then all of a sudden takes him out with the Go 2 Sleep, destroys him with a chair and cuts a Straight Edge heel promo, and a feud has begun. I'd have preferred this to have happened following an RVD title victory, but that's okay. Since Punk would be a heel (and my MITB winner as well), he could use the contract to beat Lashley at some point during his feud with RVD, and then voila, it's a title feud.

Now this is only a bit of fantasy booking, of course, and at this stage I prefer Punk as a face for a good while longer.

Dan: I'll go with the obvious 4 on 4 match pitting Stryker, Burke, Cor Von and Thorn against RVD, Sandman, Dreamer and Balls Mahoney (I'd have Sabu in MITB) . This match is elimination and Extreme Rules so it starts off with everyone brawling around ringside and amongst the fans. Balls is eliminated first by Cor Von and the POUNCE! Balls takes out Cor Von with a chair before he leaves, allowing RVD to nail the Frog Splash and eliminate him. Dreamer then gets eliminated by Burke and a roll up using the tights. Sandman gets but through a table by Thorn and Stryker leaving RVD in trouble. Van Dam uses a chair and a number of Van Daminators to get back in it, and eventually eliminates Stryker with a quick roll up. Burke and Thorn continue to beat Van Dam until Sandman comes back in with his cane and takes them all out. Stryker returns however, and he and Sandman begin to brawl in the crowd again. RVD misses a Frog Splash to Burke and Thorn eliminates RVD using his rope-assisted jaw breaker move. Sandman gets back in and is seemingly in control, thanks to his Singapore cane. This is where RVD turns heel and hits Sandman with a Van Daminator and Frog Splash, allowing the New Breed to get the win. Sabu becomes new leader of the Originals and feuds with Van Dam, culminating at ONS in an Extreme Rules where the whole New Breed vs. Originals gets it's final blow-off.

Matt: And, before next week's homework, a note. T-Shirt Hell have recently bought an idea of mine (well 2, but the second one will not process for a while given the first one's length of time thanks to stuff), and so while I'll almost certainly get the 10 free shirts regardless, $200 US rides on my shirt doing well in the first week. So, when it updates next, please have a look at the ‘Click Here To Add Me As A Friend (Arrow pointing to crotch)' shirt and, if you have ever read and liked my stuff and like the shirt, consider buying one. Thank you. Anyway, homework.

WM is known for it's shocking turns. Martel, Austin, Trish, people turn heel at WM. Who does so this year and how?

Send those ideas here..

Until next week,

Matt & Nick & Dan.
