Sweet Sixteen Notes:
The CROCKETT-TURNER REGION is the only Region that will feature a #1 vs. a #2 seed (Lou Thesz vs. Ric Flair) in the Regional Finals.
Bret Hart was the lowest number seed (#8) in the tournament that advanced to the Elite Eight. Bret Hart is in the MCMAHON REGION.
Besides Lou Thesz, only Verne Gagne in the BLACKBURN REGION advanced as a number one seed to the Regional Finals.
Once again, Ric Flair received the highest amount of votes in this round of the tournament with 113 votes.
The wrestler who advanced to the next round by the slimmest margin was Bret Hart when he beat Steve Austin by a total of 10 votes.
Only Harley Race in the CROCKETT-TURNER REGION received fewer than fifteen (14) votes each in their respective Sweet Sixteen match-up.
Three of the 16 wrestlers received 100 or more votes each in their respective match-up.
These wrestlers are Raven (102) in the HEYMAN REGION , Ric Flair (113) in the CROCKETT-TURNER REGION, and Verne Gagne (101) in the BLACKBURN REGION.
The biggest upset in the round, in terms of where each wrestler was seeded compared to his opponent, Bret Hart at the #8 seed when he beat #4 Steve Austin in the MCMAHON REGION, and Curt Hennig at the #6 seed beating #2 Nick Bockwinkel in the BLACKBURN REGION to both pull off the biggest upset by beating someone that was ranked four seeds higher then they were.
