Schmozzes & Screwjobs 05.08.07: Edge Screwed Cena (Part II of V)

Our look at the Cena/Edge feud from 2006 rolls through WrestleMania and then gets taken to the EXTREME~!
Welcome, everybody, to the 20th edition of Schmozzes & Screwjobs. I hope everybody had a good week as I did and enjoyed a ton of wrestling as I did and is ready for their regular dose of Screwjobs. Today we continue our look at the Edge/John Cena series as well as the usual Schmozz Count, False Finish and some actual Reader Feedback, but first there's some Curtain Jerkin' to be done. Let's quickly move onto the goodness because I know you guys have been waiting all week for this!
Curtain Jerkin'
-Thanks to everyone who sent me recommendations for wrestling autobiographies. I finished Mick Foley's Foley is Good this week and thoroughly enjoyed it so anyone who hasn't already, should go and buy that now! I haven't yet got round to buying any more books but as soon as I find some more money I will do.
-John Cena's DVD The Marine was released in the United Kingdom yesterday and I managed to get it for just £8 ($5?) which I thought, was a really good bargain even though I didn't know if the film was going to be any good. I have not yet got round to watching it but I will do later this week which means that this time next week I will be able to give you my thoughts on WWE's second movie release.
-Undertaker is going to be about for about 8 months which is really bad news for SmackDown. This means Mark Henry will be back to feud with new World Champion Batista, which I am fine with because it has to happen eventually and now is as good a time as any. Then over the next few months King Booker and Rey Mysterio will be back. I don't like the idea of these guys in the title picture at all. Can you remember one good match Booker had as World Champion last year? Me neither. Him challenging Batista will suck just as much as it did last year. I'm not buying Mysterio as a legit threat to Batista in a million years because of the size difference. So what can they do? Bring a guy over from Raw? Who? Bring JBL out of retirement? Maybe. Use Kennedy to cash in MitB? What a waste that would be. Push the likes of Benoit and Matt Hardy to the title scene. Hell yes! Will that ever happen? No freaking way!
-It's been a week of major up and downs for Manchester United, going out of the Champions League on Wednesday night but then recovering to win the Premiership this weekend. It's always hard to watch your team get outclassed as we did against AC Milan on Wednesday but it's an experience that will only improve the team as a unit and hopefully we can improve on that next season. With that being said, if United cannot win games away from home in Europe we are going to have hard times repeating the success of 98/99. But on a brighter note, a 1-0 win over local rivals Man City meant that if Chelsea failed to beat Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday, we would be crowned champions. Alas, that game finished 1-1 and Sir Alex Ferguson has a 9th English title to his name. Now we have the opportunity to beat Chelsea tomorrow night knowing that we are already champions, but success at Stamford Bridge would be the icing on an already delicious cake.
The Screwjob
Edge Screws Cena… TO THE EXTREME!
WWE Championship Match: John Cena vs. Rob Van Dam
Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, New York
June 11 2006
Background Information: After Edge captured his first WWE Championship, and then John Cena regained the title at the Royal Rumble, the Rated R Superstar was out for revenge. A return match was booked for the February 16 edition of Raw, which was broadcast on a Thursday night due to the dogs show that USA aired on Monday. This match would also have a special guest referee, Mick Foley, who despite being a real life friend of Adam Copeland, had been an on screen rival of Edge's dating way back to Foley's days as WWF Commissioner in 2000 and 2001. However being the good guy that Mick is, he called the match straight down the middle but got knocked out towards the end of the match. At this point Edge hit Cena with a Spear and appeared to have the match won but Foley was unable to make the three count. Cena recovered and when Foley regained consciousness was able to pin Edge after an FU. Irate, Edge launched an attack on the referee Foley and nailed him with a devastating Spear.
Meanwhile, Triple H, Rob Van Dam and The Big Show were waging war in the finals of the Road to WrestleMania tournament to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Championship. Rob Van Dam appeared to have the match won after hitting Show with a huge Five Star Frog Splash but Triple H capitalized and delivered a Pedigree on Van Dam to pick up the victory. This would be Triple H's first match with John Cena, and leading up to their historic bout, The Game appeared to underestimate Cena and claimed their match at Mania 22 would just be a formality and he would reign as an 11 time champion. It seemed that Triple H's sentiments were echoed by the IWC who believed after The Game's 6 month spell in the mid-card, his ego would send him back to the top of the mountain by putting himself over the champion on the biggest show of the year.
With Edge now out of the title picture he had turned his attentions to the man that he believed, cost him the WWE Championship on February 16, Mick Foley. Edge challenged Foley to a match at WrestleMania, but the retired former WWE Champion refused only to come back with a challenge of his own – for a hardcore match at WrestleMania 22. Edge accepted and in the weeks leading to Mania Edge beat the hell out of Foley on a regular basis including smashing Foley's skull in with a one man conchairto. The violence in this feud was taken to another level in the next few weeks as they used a variety of weapons to beat the hell out of each other and Foley even put the mandible claw on Lita. Foley got some revenge on Edge at Saturday Night's Main Event on March 23 by hitting a conchairto on Edge.
By the time WrestleMania 22 rolled around, John Cena and Edge's respective matches were arguably the most eagerly anticipated on the card. Edge and Foley would go out in front of a hot Chicago crowd and steal the show. This match was everything a hardcore match should be; fifteen minutes of brutality, hard shots to the head, thumb tacks, barbed wire and flaming tables. Even Lita got physically involved and took a barbed wire covered Mr Socko to the throat. In the end, it was Lita's interference that led to Foley getting Speared from the ring apron through a flaming table and Edge getting the inevitable three count. Most people believe that it was this match that cemented Edge's status as a main eventer and one of the best heels in the business.
The main event of the evening was the WWE Championship match between John Cena and Triple H. The match was built as old school vs. new school, tradition vs. hip hop, as JR put it. It appeared that the Chicago fans were firmly behind the challenger as every right hand exchange was met with a loud "boo" or "yay!" The crowd were itching to see Cena lose the WWE title. After all, everyone knew it was going to happen? Right? When John Cena locked in his variation of an STF – the STFU – the fans went crazy, booing Cena, but all the while knowing Triple H would not submit. Trips was almost choked out and his hand hit the mat twice, but he managed to hold it up on the referee's third time of asking. The Game was inches away from the ropes but Cena was too strong – and he tapped! The faces on the fans in attendance was priceless, but every little kid and woman in the crowd went nuts. John Cena had made Triple H tap out at WrestleMania 22!
Earlier in the night, another superstar had achieved great success. Ric Flair, Matt Hardy, Rob Van Dam, Finlay, Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley all competed in the second Money in the Bank Ladder match where the winner would received a guaranteed world title opportunity any time they wanted within the next twelve months. As Edge had discovered, this win would be vital for whoever came out on top. In the end, it was Rob Van Dam who pushed Shelton Benjamin and Matt Hardy off the ladder and captured the briefcase. Mr Monday Night was now Mr Money in the Bank!
Both John Cena and Edge were victorious at WrestleMania but it was Triple H who came out the next night on Raw to state that he had underestimated Cena and wanted a rematch at Backlash. Edge had other ideas, and reminded Triple H that he lost at WrestleMania while Edge won his match. Triple H pointed out that Edge beat a man who Triple H forced to retire six years ago. ZING. More verbal sparring ensued until John Cena decided that he would fight both men at Backlash in a triple threat match. During this triple threat match, all three men appeared to be in control at some point in the match. Both Edge and Triple H were busted open badly during the bout and it seemed as if Cena would once again overcome the odds when he hoisted Edge up for the FU. The Game recovered and low-blowed Cena, sending Edge to the outside. Then it seemed as if Triple H had the match won when he hooked Cena's arms behind his head for the Pedigree. But Cena quickly countered into a Jacknife roll up and had once again overcome the odds and retained the WWE Championship!
It was around this time that the announcement that ECW was coming back as a full time brand was made. On June 11, the Hammerstein Ballroom would host the second ECW One Night Stand. On an episode of Raw in May, Mr Money in the Bank Rob Van Dam came to the ring to talk about ONS. He said it would be the biggest night of his career as he would be cashing in his Money in the Bank contract against John Cena! Cena knew that this would be a tough task due to the nature of wrestling an ECW style, and wrestling in front of the most hostile crowd in sports entertainment history. Indeed, when Cena stepped into the ring in the Hammerstein Ballroom and tossed his t-shirt out to the crowd, it was thrown right back at him. Repeatedly. One fan held a sign that read, "If Cena Wins We Riot!" And I believe they would have.
How It Went Down: Here are the closing moments of the WWE Championship Match between John Cena and Rob Van Dam from ECW One Night Stand 2006.
The Fallout: With Edge already the #1 contender after a win over The Big Show a few weeks before One Night Stand, John Cena would go on to feud with just about everybody associated with ECW. On an episode of Monday night Raw in June, Cena destroyed ECW Originals Stevie Richards, Justin Credible and Balls Mahoney. Edge on the other hand had a one-on-one match with Edge scheduled for Raw's Vengeance pay-per-view which was headlined by 3 Raw vs. ECW matches including the aforementioned title match, Randy Orton vs. Kurt Angle and John Cena battling the suicidal, homicidal and genecidal death-defying Sabu in an Extreme Lumberjack match. Next we'll see what happens at Vengeance and how Rob Van Dam's WWE (and ECW) title reign went up in smoke.
The Schmozz Count

ECW – 0
Impact – 1, Team 3D vs. Rhyno and Samoa Joe
SmackDown – 2, Miz vs. Finlay and Regal vs. Boogeyman
Not for the first time SmackDown has several schmozzes, and thankfully ECW is back to its normal form after their blip last week.
The Schmozz Count: 47 + 4 = 51! We cracked 50!

What's Up With TNA? Part 1 of 2
I don't usually talk about TNA exclusively because, even though I watch Impact every week and all of their pay-per-views, they don't interest me enough to talk about them on any sort of regular basis. But I had nothing to talk about in this section this week so I figured I'd take at detailed look at how TNA is doing – what they are doing right and what needs to change. And don't worry; this isn't going to be a rant that can be summed up in the two words "fire Russo" because I believe that a lot of things wrong with TNA have nothing to do with him. On the contrary, he's probably doing a lot of things right. I don't want to place the blame on any of the bookers individually, but just pinpoint a few areas where TNA are messing up, as well as the odd thing they are doing well.
Sting
When Sting resigned with TNA to stay on another year, I wondered how he would be used. I disagreed with the way that he was used in 2006 because the entire year was spent feuding with Jeff Jarrett and although I enjoyed the majority of the feud, the one-on-one matches did not produce the greatest wrestling. It was inevitable that they would put the NWA Championship on Sting and thankfully he was only used to transition the belt onto Abyss who in turn was used to transition the title to Christian Cage. With Sting signing on for another year, TNA had a second chance to use the legend right. It is my firm believe that when you have a certifiable legend on a big-money short-term contract, there are two major things a company should use said legend for. The first, is a big money feud or "dream match" with another legend. Essentially, that is what the feud with Jarrett was even if it was not done as well as it could have been. The other is to use said legend to put over younger talent! It's really not difficult. How much would a guy like Christian Cage or Samoa Joe benefit from a one-on-one victory over a guy like Sting? Now Sting has gone on to one of the most ridiculous feuds in recent memory with Abyss and is now back in the title picture. If creative knew what they were doing, they would have turned Sting heel during the Abyss feud when the Impact Zone were chanting "Sting's a bully." Kurt Angle vs. Sting is a big money match that could have brought in pay-per-view buys, but a match between Sting and Samoa Joe would be an equally big match and a victory over Sting would put him over more than he has ever been put over in any one match in TNA so far. Speaking of Joe, onto my next point…
Samoa Joe
A year ago people were predicting that this guy would be the man that takes TNA to the level that can actually compete with WWE. Now, he's a backseat player. Ever since Kurt Angle came to TNA and ended Joe's undefeated streak, Joe has lost all steam that he built in the 18 months he'd been in TNA. What exactly did Kurt Angle gain from beating Joe? Nothing. Kurt Angle was already a threat to any man on the roster – a former six time WWE Champion, a guy who had had classics matches with the likes of Shawn Michaels, The Rock, Stone Cold, Chris Benoit and Brock Lesnar. Angle is arguably the greatest wrestler who ever lived. Samoa Joe is not. But Joe was making a name for himself and by all rights should already have been NWA world champion. But he is made to tap out to Kurt Angle. And then in the rubber match between the two, he loses again. TNA just told Samoa Joe, here's the pecking order;
Kurt Angle
Samoa Joe
Now Joe is being booked onto pay-per-views in matches with virtually no real build and very little importance in comparison to most other matches. Hell, I wouldn't be shocked to see AJ Styles and Samoa Joe curtain jerking this Sunday. And that is not how it should be. Samoa Joe should be main eventing.
AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels
When AJ Styles turned heel, he sacrificed everything that was good about his persona. Does he play a good heel? Yes. But he plays a face about a million times better. As a heel, it is harder for a guy like Styles to put across how good a wrestler he is. His main offence is based on amazing athletic moves that very few people can do, but as a heel dominates 75% of a match and has to work at a slower pace, these moves don't come into play anywhere near as often and the result is a match quality that is not as high as it should be. None of AJ's matches with Rhino were all that great and none of them were anywhere near as good as the ones with Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, LAX, or AMW when AJ was a face. And what's worse is TNA Management has Styles playing second fiddle to Christian Cage. That role is fine for a guy like Tomco who has limited wrestling ability but plays a body guard role extremely well. It makes Styles look like a chickenshit. And a dumb one at that.
Christopher Daniels is in an interesting position right now. After leaving the X Division, Daniels took time off and has now developed this Badass persona. He started to attack guys randomly but has also displayed some Sting-like traits such as wielding the baseball bat. So it's obvious he is going to feud with Sting. So why does he have to go through the likes of Jerry Lynn and Rhino first? Book the feud with Sting! I like the idea of a heel Daniels but right now there is no place for him. This brings me to…
Overcrowding
The main event scene is packed right now. Christian Cage is your NWA Champion, and all of these guys are in some way involved in the title picture; AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, Sting, Abyss, Samoa Joe, Jeff Jarrett, Tomko, Scott Steiner and Rhino. That's ridiculous when you only have one hour of TV time a week. Pick a challenger for the month and role with it. Add in one or two more contenders to drag out a program if you need to. It's not difficult. Instead it seems as if every week on Impact we have a #1 contendership match, but that ends in a schmozz and we need a rematch. We have guys being promised title shots every week then not getting them and thus a rivalry is started with another guy who has a fair claim to a title opportunity. It's too much and it turns people away. Why is Kurt Angle involved in the match at Sacrifice again? Because management wanted to add another guy to the match? For what reason? Sting became #1 contender at Lockdown so he should get the title shot! It's simple.
Christian Cage
First of all I'd like to say I'm enjoying Christian Cage at the moment. His title reign has been great and has produced good matches and he is actually getting the chance to run with the ball for awhile. He is getting plenty of mic time to get himself over as champion and I have to say that he is one of the best heels in the business right now, second only to his "brother" Edge over on Raw so well done TNA for that. I do have one small complaint however, and that's the way they keep using Jim Cornette to override everything Christian does. I'm not saying the champ should run the show, but Christian is continuously made to look silly at the hands of Cornette. As much as people complain when a heel authority figure is booked against a face wrestler, it's a mile better than a heel champion being constantly undermined by a face authority figure.
Tag Teams
Remember just a year ago when America's Most Wanted, AJ and Daniels and Latin American eXchange were tearing it up on a weekly basis? What the hell happened to that? LAX's feud with Team 3D was poorly executed as all the matches were mediocre and the champs constantly went over, even in non-title matches, and we were left to wonder why they were constantly getting rematches. Now Team 3D are champions and the only other tag teams around are LAX, VKM and Serotonin. With the Voodoo Kin Mafia booked into the crap with Christy Hemme (more on that later) and Serotonin booked to look like the Mean Street Posse but without the vests, theirs is nowhere else to go with the tag teams. Now we have the likes of Tomko and Steiner challenging and even Samoa Joe and Rhino. In a time when tag team wrestling is almost dead in wrestling's biggest company, TNA had a huge opportunity to capitalize and give them another unique selling point. LAX were once the hottest act in wrestling and now I could care less about them because of the Team 3D feud. Team 3D's ship sailed about 18 months ago when they should have won the tag titles from AMW. With the Hardys, London and Kendrick, Cade and Murdoch, World's Greatest Tag Team and Deuce and Domino in WWE, TNA's tag team division is just not up to par.
Next week I conclude this look at TNA with a long rant on the X-Division, thoughts on the Voodoo Kin Mafia/Christy saga, the potential of a women's division and why TNA feuds are too long.
Reader Feedback
Hey look, emails! Let's start with those of you who recommended me some wrestling books.
First up is Anthony Burris,
Hogan's is not half bad, I picked mine up for about 2 bucks and it was a good read.
Next we have Chris Jacobs, Kurt Angle, and Hulk Hogan's books are good, and so is "Are we there yet" not an auto, but it is a road story book that is hilarious. The Hardy Boyz book is awesome, as well as Behind the Paint, it is a ICP one, those are all awesome.
I've read a few pages of Are We There Yet and it seems like a fun book so I can see myself picking that up in the near future.
Adam has another recommendation,
The Rock's book, The Rock Says, is very good.
I actually read this book when it was available in my school library and really enjoyed that I read it a few more times. Obviously because I'm already familiar with this book it's not as high on my list as some of the others but I'd like to have this in my collection.
Finally we have Matt,
Hey, just read your column on 411 and you asked if there were any other autobiographies by wrestlers worth reading. You should check out William Regal's book if you can find it. It's a little bland compared to Foley's (I'd almost think that it's ghost-written but an actual writer would be a little more colorful), but it's brutally honest and I have to admit that I marked out a little bit when he mentioned Bryan Danielson. He goes into some pretty extreme detail about his drug addiction; I had heard that he had a drug problem, but it was way, way worse than I could have imagined. He made Eddie look like a girl scout. It's published by WWE, so you should be able to find it on their website.
Also, it's not an autobiography per se, but 'The Death of WCW' is really good too. And it's published by Wrestlecrap, so it's pretty damn funny too. I'm going to be picking up the first book by Mike Quackenbush, 'Fantastic Finishers', pretty soon so I'll let you know if that one's any good.
I've never been a huge fan of Regal's which is probably why I never brought his autobiography when it first came out. But honesty in books is always good so I'll try and check it out.
Thanks everybody for the recommendations, here's my most wanted booklist.
1. Hulk Hogan
2. Kurt Angle
3. The Hardyz
4. The Death of WCW
5. William Regal
6. Are We There Yet?
7. The Rock
And starting off the rest of the feedback is our old friend Samer;
Hello Dan, this is Samer again...
First of all, congratulations for those lucky United bastards, I hope Milan (my fav team) will kick their asses this Wednesday.. Well I have my doubts but then Kaka is the HBK of football, so maybe, just maybe he can come up with a miracle…
First of all, I think I prefer Ryan Giggs as a comparison to HBK but Kaka is awesome. It was Kaka's brilliance and Kaka's brilliance alone that gave Milan hope going into the second leg because United dominated the first leg. My theory going into Wednesday night was stop Kaka, stop Milan and alas…it all went wrong. United were outclassed but if we had just been better with the ball in the final third I think we would have been fine. I would say good luck to Milan for the final but they have now surpassed Chelsea as my most hated team, mostly because of Gatusso.
And speaking of miracles, NO!!! Cena CANNOT get a good match out of Khali... Nobody can! What can Cena do? Make Khali faster? Can he make Khali's move less sloppy? The best Khali match so far (and that's not saying much) was his LMS against the Undertaker, and even that one was barely watchable. Khali vs. Cena (or Khali vs. anybody) in a straight one on one match will be bad. Cena will bust his ass, I like the guy, I really do, he's really grown on me lately, but I feel we're gonna watch a pretty boring match just to see Cena FU'ing the monster in the end. And even that is not worth it.
Why ruin the blow off to the HBK-Cena feud, why not have them go at it one more time? Well I guess that could still happen, we just have to wait. I'm not gonna complain much, because the WWE has produced the best PPV of the year so far, and one of the best Raw's in recent memory…
I disagree. Cena is the best worker in the business right now and has the right kind of mind set to be able to pull out the miracle of miracles. We'll have to wait til Judgment Day until we know for sure but I have a good feeling and am looking forward to their match, just as long as it is only one match and we can get back to the Cena vs. HBK program.
Backlash was tremendous, all the matches were great, except for the handicap match (but really, since when are handicap matches good?), but it was watchable. I also won't complain much about Vince winning the title, I'll just wait to see what happens next before I start going crazy on him. The 2 main events were great, and I'm glad Taker and Batista had a good match again, proving that their WM match wasn't a one time thing.
Completely agree. I too, have decided to hold judgment on McMahon as ECW Champion until we've seen a few weeks of his reign. If it leads to a feud with the Originals where they get buried then I will not be happy but if it leads to them rising to the top of ECW, then I will be a very happy man.
Onto Raw, Randy Orton vs. Edge could have been the best match on Raw this year, if it wasn't for the Cena-HBK match the week before. But, it was a fantastic opener, and the finish was great. I hope they'll continue their feud, but I also want them to be in the title picture, or have some other interesting feuds. Yes even Orton. I used to hate him; maybe I still do, especially after his fucked up behaviour, but the guy has really improved in the ring. Even his match against HBK last month, despite that crappy finish, was tremendous. I hope he can pull his shit back together, but I do hope he gets punished; otherwise it's not gonna happen.
Again I agree. These guys seem to have some great chemistry but they need a pay-per-view match to really get the feud over. With Khali now Cena's challenger for Judgment Day, neither Orton, Edge or Shawn Michaels have scheduled matches so I would assume those three will hook up in some sort of triple threat, probably for #1 contendership.
Well RVD better sign that contract, because things don't look to good for him, on the other hand I was quite glad this wasn't ur usual Umaga squash, because towards the end, people thought RVD might win, maybe Vince doesn't entirely want to ruin his credibility in case he decides to stay. I hope the Vince-ECW originals confrontations won't end up being a total burial for the originals. Though it looks to be that way, with RVD possibly leaving, but i can always hope.
Which ever Superstar feuds with Vince is guaranteed to get good TV time so that is a positive for Van Dam and the Originals. They also got to have an old school ECW match last week which also good. We'll have to wait a few more weeks to see what Vince really wants to do with the Originals, though. I will say that I am sure Van Dam will sign a new contract and stay with WWE.
I'm glad they're still building Cade and Murdoch, I'm actually starting to care about them, and it's good that the feud with the Hardyz is continuing...
I assumed that they would just move The Hardys on to the next challengers, presumably the World's Greatest Tag Team, but instead it looks like we're going to get a few more weeks of the Redneck Wrecking Crew challenging, which I like. People are finally starting to take these guys seriously again and it wouldn't surprise me to see Cade and Murdoch take the titles in the new future.
Onto the Screwjob... Well this was without a doubt, my fav moment in 2006… And it was without a doubt the best feud of 2006, and I still believe they should have had the Cena vs. Edge in the WrestleMania main event. Cuz we probably won't see it this year, with Kennedy being in the main event (nothing wrong with that though) and his opponent will probably be Cena.
I always wondered why the Money in the Bank winner doesn't chose to cash in at WM, this way he's guaranteed the Main event, finally someone else though about that.
Well that's it for now, keep on the good work.
I think if Cena vs. Edge would have happened at Mania, we would not have gotten the feud we got. The thing I liked about it was they mixed things up each month. They brought Triple H in to feud with Cena at Mania while Foley feuded with Edge, then Edge challenged Cena again at Backlash in a Triple Threat with The Game. Then they used the revival of ECW and Rob Van Dam to give the feud more mileage before they went back to their one-one feud throughout the rest of the summer. It was feud reminiscent of Triple H vs. The Rock in 2000 which is no bad thing.
327 days til Kennedy main events WrestleMania!
Thanks for the feedback Samer.
Brien Chambers is next with some thoughts; Sorry man I sent some feedback last week but it must have never got to you. First I wanna say that Kennedy would be a needed add to the Raw roster. As far as Cena goes He is getting better with his in the ring ability and I would even go as far to say good. I think He is lost without a good evil Villain. He is a good worker but needs to change his persona. He is too much of a baby face to be a tough guy. He is not attitude yet he tries to be and I think that is why people boo him. Shawn though I love him and think he is the best in the ring performer in the wwe right now, He is not the Heart Break Kid he is the Hard Break Man. Unless he goes back to sweet chining everyone he sees like Grishum in the back and pulling pranks on Cena he isn't a good villain for Cena. It just doesn't work. Matches are good but build up is bad. Mr. Kennedy could bring back the build up. I think Kennedy shouldn't have announced when he was gunna turn in. I liked the whole interrupting interviews and implying that he was gunna turn it in after whoever match like at backlash. As far as Orton and Edge I think they need to do more with that. I like there matches, but have them focus on the mic toward each other. Right now there just an after thought to the WWE World Title. Nobody believes that they will win over Michaels or Cena. Again Kennedy would be a good antagonist. As far as the Women's match at backlash goes. It was Out-Fricken-Standing. I will be the first one to say that I never liked the women's division especially since Trish and Lita left. The funny thing is after that match I called my friend and told him the same thing about it being the greatest since Mickey vs. Trish at Mania. Anywho I like the Cena vs. Khali angel and, although I like Vince making a fool of himself as champ, I think Shane should have one the title. I think Harry Smith and T.J. Wilson need to come to raw to beat up the tag team division and Cade and Murdock should win the titles cause stampede bulldogs vs. Cade and Murdock is a perfect feud of opposites. This is a stretch but when HHH comes back have HBK(HBOM) induct Cade and Murdock into DX. Seeing as HBK trained Cade that would be cool. Then bring Teddy Hart and Nattie Niedhart with Harry Smith and T.J. Wilson as the New Hart Foundation. Bring back that feud but with 3/4 new faces. The Hardy's need to Go to ECW and make it Extreme again. They need to keep RVD so he CM Punk, Matt and Jeff Hardy can be the 4 contenders for the title. Maybe bring back Mick Foley and make him the GM or even Terry Funk (that would mean more to true ECW fans). Most of all Get Bobby Lashley out of there. He is not ECW material. They should have never let him on the mic. They should have given him a manager and a stable. That's my rant so take it or leave it, and I'm glad to see another wrestling fan with brains. Peace.
I think Kennedy moving to Raw would be a good move at any other point in time but because of the current injuries to King Booker, Rey Mysterio and Undertaker on SmackDown, Kennedy needs to stay where he is for now. Maybe after Summerslam when two of those three are back it would be a good move, but that would depend on if Triple H returns as a face or a heel.
I love the idea of a New Hart Foundation but I think it would work better on SmackDown where they can work with some of the great veterans which are more their style such as Finlay, Benoit, Taylor and Regal. Moving the Hardyz to ECW would make sense. I think they should add some tag titles to ECW now they have The Major Brothers, possibly a team from the New Breed and a team from the Originals, and the Hardys would fit perfectly there too. I hate Lashley in ECW – he worked so much better on SmackDown with guys like Finlay and Regal. In sixth months time I can see Burke, Punk and Van Dam being the guys feuding over the title while Lashley will have moved to Raw because Vince has clearly hand-picked him as one of the new stars. Nice ideas, thanks for the feedback.
Finally, Mr Tuesday Night returns with some of his thoughts; First of all you said "Why waste time with introductions when we have a column to get to? Enjoy." NO! You will waste are time telling us what were going to see instead of talking about it ya jerk.
Any way.
-John Cena will try as hard as he can to pull a good match out of Khali. That's not my problem. My problem is that Khali is even in the title scene. I may be being a little sceptical so I'll do this. Khali you have one more chance. If can manage to not screw up your ONE PPV program with Cena I'll be fine. But I swear to God Khali if you put on some of the worst matches I've ever seen I'm not even gonna mention you anymore. If your in a feud with say Jeff Hardy. I'll say Jeff Hardy's not doing much now. YOU WILL BE DEAD TO ME!!! Moving on.
-I love My Chemical Romance. I have all their albums.
-I read Kane's kayfabe book and that was alright but I haven't read any other books besides the ones you named.
-My friend and I loved this screwjob. When Edge came out we went crazy. But the next night on Raw it was Ric Flair who came out first to interrupt Edge and Lita (which led to their TLC match next week). Then John Cena came out to help Flair.
-I didn't see Backlash.
-I called it. I said Kennedy would cash in at WrestleMania 24. But I still wouldn't be surprised if he cashed it in earlier.
Good column.
-Mr. Tuesday Night DOM
Thanks for the feedback Dom. I don't usually care for Khali but now they've decided he needs a title program, I'm putting my faith in him to have a good match with Cena.
I love all My Chemical Romance fans. Despite Bayani's taunting in TBT I shall continue to listen to the emo scene.
I've got Kane's kayfabe book, too and actually really enjoyed it. Maybe because I thought anything to do with Katie Vick is hilarious.
I recommend you buy the Backlash DVD because it was a great show.
It would surprise me to see Kennedy use his MitB early either, especially now Taker is out injured.
And that's all the feedback this week.
Taking It Home
And we are done for another week. TNA's Sacrifice is this weekend and it's the first TNA card I'm actually looking forward to in a long time, mainly because Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles has been added and the main event should be good, even if the booking of it has been really stupid. Anyway, watch Sacrifice, read all the columns and have a good week.
