Why I Love Wrestling 5.27.07: My Fellow Wrestling Writers
Posted by Jordan Linkous on 05.27.2007

Welcome back to another edition of Why I Love Wrestling. I was overwhelmed with the amount of feedback, which was surprisingly none. Shocker. Anyways, I will persevere when trying to think of the subject, I started thinking about the sight. I thought of all the good times I have gotten from the sight, and all the enjoyment I received from reading the articles. So I have decided to dedicate this column to my fellow wrestling writers! Booo-ya! So I will write a letter of appreciation to all the wrestling writers I can think of and write why I enjoy their columns. I think this is a good way for the readers to know just how much work all of us put into our jobs, and also just so I can say "Thank You." Sounds good to me.

My Fellow Writers!

John Meehan,
Ahh, my dear Meehan. Your Meethinks was one of the first articles I had ever read. Your columns were always filled with positivity, which is an inspiration to me. You pride yourself on having the best readers the interweb has to offer, and I am proud to say I am part of you humble following. Keep staying positive my man.
Thank you Meehan.

Leonard Hayhurst,
Talk about a large workload, we have Leonard Hayhurst. Not only do you provide us with the 10th Day News Report, you also do wrestling DVD reviews, movie reviews, Ask 411 Movies, and also Road to PPV's. Most of us know you for bringing us the news on Wednesdays, though. You provide us with his insight on wrestling shows, and add a much needed and well appreciated humorous commentary to the news of the week. Plus, you have EWR on 411. Cool beans! Keep up the work bud.
Thank you Leonard.

Stephen Randle,
To my favorite Canadian in all of 411, I would like to say thanks. You are always the first column I read Mondays, whether I am at home or school. I look forward to seeing what you have to say about the latest PPV's and other stuff. Not many people know this, but you are also co-editor. So you're the one who keeps taking all the pictures of me naked off my column….. Well, probably for the better. Carry on.
Thank you Stephen.

Jacob Ziegler,
JZ, you are one half of my favorite ROH reviewing teams of all time. You also frequent movie reviews and other wrestling reviews. Your ROH reviews along with Brad are what stand out to me. They have led me to my ROH DVD collection. None of the DVDs I have purchased have gone without reading your reviews first. Also, you always have time to answer my ROH questions, no matter how dumb they are. You fill me in on all the latest ROH info and lend me your guidance when needed.
Thank you Jacob.

Brad Garoon,
We now come to the second half of my favorite ROH reviewing team. Like I previously mentioned, all of my ROH videos have gone through the JZ/BG test, so I know I am always getting the finest. You were always willing to lend a helping hand to my WWE vs. TNA column when I never quite knew what to say and it was always well appreciated.
Thank you Brad.

JD Dunn,
You are one of my favorite recappers in all of 411. I always wait to see when you recap comes out to see your opinion. It is always fun to read and say, "Hey, I agree with JD!" You review ECW, Smackdown, Raw, and PPV's. If that's not enough, you review DVD's as well. Keep up the good recapping my friend, and even if they come up late, you know I'll still read them.
Thanks JD.

Ari Berenstein,
You are one of the nicest guys in 411. You always have time to give me your opinions, and I remember you were the first to step up and help with my WWE vs. TNA roundtable. I can shoot ideas of you and you will let me know what you think. And you're a damn fine ROH columnist. Thanks for be there to help.
Thank you Ari.

Arnold Furious,
You are another one of my favorite recappers, along with being an exceptional DVD reviewer as well. Your Fury has always been a delight to read, and I can always count on your recaps to be timely and accurate. Way to go dude. Plus, anyone who has to sit through all those WCW shows batter be getting some major props.
Thank you Arnold.

JP Prag and James Thomlison,
The men of the Hidden Highlights, JP and JT. I was around when your first HH showed up, and was immediately hooked. Your columns are full of positivity, and they are so reader interactive. That is an attribute I strive for, yet fail to achieve, so you guys are a good reference as to how to get people to read you column. I have actually been featured a couple times there, as a reader and a writer. I must say, there is nothing more exciting to a reader than seeing their comment show up on the column. I remember how I totally marked the first time you placed my hidden highlight in a column. Way to stay positive.
Thanks JP and JT.

Steve Cook,
I now come to the leader of the Cook regime, none other than Mr. Steve Cook himself. From the early days of News From Cook's Corner, I was always a fan of your columns. You then took up your place as the new Ask 411 Wrestling columnist, and you have done a fine job at that. Every week you do research to try to help out clueless fans, and your determination to the craft is appreciated. As long as you keep answering our questions, I'll keep reading your column.
Thank you Steve.

Andy Clark,
The Master of the Shimmy. You columns are always an interesting read, and they can actually keep me interested. You look at a variety of different topics and add your input. I also really enjoy your Report Cards. It is a nice, simple concept that is an enjoyable read to say the least. Keep on Shimmying.
Thanks Andy.

Bayani Domingo,
Dude, you're awesome. Your columns range from a variety of crazy topics filled with your valuable insight, along with being another reader interactive column. You Combine so many elements into your column, yet they all work together. The Six Degrees of… is always a fun one, and you hot Asians are hot. plus, you always come up with hilarious plugs. Thanks for the good times man.
Thank you Bayani.
PS: Here's hoping I can make it to BoLA 2007!

Brad Borchardt,
Dude, your recaps are pretty sweet. You are able to be timely and prompt with you recaps, and they are always accurate and informative. Plus, you are able to intertwine an interesting game into the recap that adds a second dose of competition to Smackdown. Keep on keeping on.
Thanks Brad.

Daniel Wilcox,
What's up man? First, I must congratulate you for being able to talk about screwjobs every week. But all joking aside, you are able to target a key point in wrestling and make it into a wrestling column. Because if you think about it, Schmozzes and Screwjobs have been a part of wrestling forever and it was about time somebody took the liberty of writing about them, and I don't think that there could have been a better person to do it. Plus, I just wanted to thank you for you help with the roundtable a couple months back. Those simulations ruled. And congrats on landing the new Payload gig.
Thanks Dan.

Jeff Small,
What up Small? I know I can count on you to provide a quality Heat report and sift through all the crap to find something good, which is appreciated. You also bring us the Thursday Small-For-All report, which is fun and choke full of vitamins and essential nutrients. Wait, what? And your beef against Slimmer is good fun.
Thank you Jeff.

Joe Estee,
Hey Joe. You column, Keys to the Games, is a fun column and an fascinating read. I love how you can take a problem or a topic that is currently going on in wrestling and analyze and assess it. You then add what is the "Key to the Game," or a path a wrestler should take to get back on track. It is a cool thing to read and it is always cool to see what is on tap for each column.
Thanks Joe.

John Gregory,
Hello 411's lone IWA Mid-South Reporter. How are the times? Youre reviews are a great way from me to get information on other promotions outside the big 3, and it has led me to seriously consider getting those DVD's. You describe the wrestlers and the matches with such enthusiasm, and it makes me feel like it is something that is a must see. As long as you keep up reviewing those DVD's, then your cool with me.
Thanks John.

Julian Williams,
First, I gotta give you props for your column. It is a simple column that has hooked fans and been a fantastic read. I have been a fan from the starts, and, once again, you are one of the many fabulous reader interactive columns. Whether I agree (normally) or disagree (rarely), I can always be looking forward to the next top ten and that is always fun. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Julian.

Mathew Sforcina,
They Evolution Schematic has always been an attention-grabbing article to say the least. You take wrestlers from all walks of life, whether it is Viscera or Tully Blanchard, and make it fun to read and learn about. It is also good to see that you have no bias, as I just mentioned. You, along with Marsico, have been able to create THE MOST reader interactive column on this site, IMO. You are able to take a hot topic and wrestling and just let the fans run with it. All in all, it is fascinating to see what you, and the fans, come up with.
Thank you Mathew.

Matt Adamson,
Although I can't really relate to you column since I have no understanding whatsoever of Japanese wrestling or puro for that matter, I think what you do is really great. You are great for bringing that style of wrestling to the fans and letting many of them, including myself get their first taste of that wrestling. Congrats on the new Payload job as well.
Thanks Matt.

Matt Short,
Speaking of writers for Japanese wrestling, we now have Mr. Short. You aim your column at the professional wrestling organization NOAH in Japan, and you bring this style of wrestling to the people as well. Your column ranges from Guides to attending Puro to show reviews, which are all cool. Keep writing, man.
Thank you Matt.

Michael Bauer,
We now come to our second ECW recapper. Thanks for always being timely in your reports. I know I can count on seeing the ECW Report with you name under it every Wednesday, and that just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. All jokes aside, I really don't know how recappers are able to keep up with all the action and fill in the fans in such a timely manner. And for that, you must be commemorated.
Thanks Michael.

Michael Weyer,
When it comes to Shining Spotlights, you sure take the cake. The logic is simple enough: you take current events, or sometimes older topics (such as the Four Horsemen), and just give you general thoughts and opinions. I am all for free speech and just talking about what's on your mind, but you also seem to be able to talk about what others are thinking. Keep on writing what you know, and shine that spotlight.
Thank you Michael.

Mac Craig,
I bet you thought I would leave you out, right? WRONG! Everybody here deserves respect, and that goes just as much for you and the other newer guys as it does for Meehan and Cook. Reviewers always have a fun job, so here's hoping you have a long tenure with the 411 staff.
Thanks Mac.

Sean, Alex, and David,
You guys have one of my favorite columns on 411 today. I love how you just take the hot topics of the week, throw them out there, and have everyone put their say into it. It is a simple formula, but effective in providing the readers with a good hearty read. And, if you every want a Fatal Four Way, just ask me!
Thanks Alex, David, and Sean.

Mike Campbell,
Hello 411's Toughest Video Reviewer. You know, I always enjoy the Black Tiger Review. Not only is it well written and documented, but it is a good reminder of the olden days. I know that sounds corny, but with the way the wrestling world is so frequently changing, it is fun to look back on something that happened four or five years ago. You also provide reviews on such lesser known organizations like 2CW. Thanks for taking me back a little bit and keep up the good work.
Thanks Mike.

Ryan Mancuso,
It is always good to see reviewers take up all different styles of wrestling. Take you, for example. Instead of focusing on one main course, you heap you plate so full of different brands of wrestling with all different styles. You have AJPW, BJW, CMLL, and others, and you review them all very well. Keep on reviewing and good job!
Thank you Ryan.

Mike Minotti,
You provide us with another "What If?" column, which is always a pleasure to read. You allow the readers to use their "imagination" and broaden there knowledge and generally get us all thinking. That is the main reason I love you column. You push us to think beyond the boundaries and say, "Well, what if Kennedy won the big one?" So for that I say thank you.
Thanks Mike.

Louis Izzo,
I mean this in all seriousness when I say that you are one of my favorite video recappers today. You take a look at some of the less known shows and deliver good reviews. I mean, your name practically says it all. "The Island of Misfit Shows." Classic. Anyway, keep on reviewing those misfit shows, and you're looking at one of your top fans right here.
Thank you Louis.

Nick Marsico,
Former Finks Payload Tag Champion and current News to Start Your Weekend World Champion, we have Nick Marsico! As I said for Sforcina, congratulations on formerly being part of THE MOST reader interactive column in all the land. Also, you prep everybody for the weekends with your news report, which is well written and covers important topics. But what hits closest to home for me is when you decided to help me out on the WWE vs. TNA Roundtable. All your work was greatly appreciated, and I am still in your debt.
Thank you Nick.

O'Dog,
First things first, cool name. Secondly, cool column. C'mon, if you gonna name a column "The Goodness," it must be good. You take a look at some of the big topics in wrestling and give you intelligent views and opinions and provide the readers with a great read. Keep on writing the Goodness, because you rock.
Thanks O'Dog.

Sat and Uncle Trunx,
Talk about the ultimate odd couple, where did they get you guys? I mean, one is optimistic and one is pessimistic. Can you say sitcom? But seriously, you column is fun to read. You both provide valid points that really lead the fans to wonder. You views, while sometimes biased, are always justified and make sense. You guys are some master debaters, that's for sure.
Thanks Uncle Trunx and Sat.

Magnus Donaldson,
Another new guy, but still someone that deserves our respect nonetheless. It seems that you are another reviewer that will be reviewing shows from all over, which is great to see because I could always use second and third opinions before purchasing some indy DVD's. Hopefully you will stay with the 411 crew and be a valuable writer as well.
Thank you Magnus.

Zac Calhoun,
The master of the Ripple Effect, Zac Calhoun. I must say, if I may, that your most recent edition of the RE was quite fascinating. I really love how you compared the IC and the US championship. On the whole, you columns are a fascinating read mixed with your opinions and facts. Just stick with the current procedure and you have yourself a mighty fine column.
Thank you Zac.

Stuart Carapola,
A man of many talents we have here with Stuart Carapola. You have the Ominous Thoughts News Report which is an perceptive look at the weekly news, That was Then which obviously focuses on wrestling history, and my personal favorite, Friendly Competition. I like Friendly Competition because it is a column focused on recapping TNA and ECW, along with weekly lessons, top ten, and, of course, Dickhead of the Week. I love this column because it is a way for me to be up to date on those brands, and it is just generally well written. Also, you were the first person to help me out on WWE vs. TNA, which I always appreciated.
Thanks Stu.

Scott Slimmer,
YO SLIMMA! Ha, just wanted to do that. Anyway, you column is a great recap. You break down each match, state whether it is hit or miss, and then go into more detail if we need. You pick out key points in the match and deliver a quality recap. Keep on recapping!
Thanks Scott.

Samuel Berman,
We now come to my good friend Samuel Berman. I actually remember when you first started and you picked on of my favorite ROH matches of all time. Your column has evolved, and you have taken up further endeavors. My favorite of all these is the Box in the Attic, which occasionally shows up and hits me with some of that good old fashioned lovin…..err, wrestling. You have also taken charge of Buy or Sell and ROH Roundtables. Man, your stock sure has risen quick. And you always have time to talk to me online. Thanks man.
Thank you Samuel.

Ryan Byers,
I know I can always count on your article to fill me in on the TNA that I almost always miss. It delivers the facts and is precise in doing so. You are prompt with the way you organize your recap, and for that I say thanks.
Thank you Ryan.

Ronny Sarnecky,
When it comes to taking up important issues, look no further than Ronny. You take such important events in you Piledriver Report such as Champions, ECW, and Wrestlemania Trivia. I remember your ENORMOUS Piledriver Report looking at Vince's Empire. Man, what an awesome read that was. Thanks for being such a great writer and delivering the goods.

Rob Halden,
Rob, I must give you props for your column. It is like you are saying what everyone is thinking. Your column must come under a lot of criticism, but I believe in freedom of speech and I think your column is ballsy to say the least. Keep on calling people idiots and congratulations on becoming part of the nex edition of the Fink's payload.
Thank you Rob.

Phil Feltham,
Short and sweet, that sounds good to me. You write about current issues in your column and deliver them in short, but sweet, package. Your columns are right down to the point, but hey, great things come in small packages. Plus, you write really well and it has a lot of meaning to it.
Thanks Phil.

I would also like to thank Ashish, for without him, none of this would be possible. For anybody I forgot, I am sorry. And a quick shout out to EVERYBODY else that makes 411 possible, from the sports page to the videogames, thanks. And for those who think of this as a cheap way for me to get props from my fellow writers or whatever, I got two words for ya….SUCK IT! I am serious about this and i think each and every one of my fellow writers deserve to be thanked for their work. And with that, I am out of………..OH MY GOD! SWEET BABY JESUS! I ALMOST FORGOT LARRY!

Larry Csonka,
We now come to Mr. 411 Wrestling himself, Mr. Csonka. I really could not have done any of this without you. You were the one that gave me the shot, and you have stood by your decision to keep me hare and haven't fired me yet. I really can't thank you enough because as a 17 year old, there aren't that many people who I can talk wrestling to. But with my column, I am able to express my wrestling opinions and read what others have to say. This column has really been a blessing. Not only have I been given the opportunity to write about what I love, I have been able to get to know several great people and learn that there is so much more to wrestling than just WWE and TNA. Plus, you have your GIANT workload, which consists of, but is not limited to, Co-Wrestling Editor, Your News, My Views, My Take On, Tremendous Tirades, wRestling's 3R's, TNA PPV Round Tables, The TNA Impact Report, Live TNA and WWE PPV Coverage, Fill in for everyone, Slave driver, and 411 ICON.
So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you Larry.
