A friendly meeting with Batista in Detroit.

Sometimes you just wish you could sleep after a full day's and night's work. There is an old saying though, "It isn't work if you enjoy it?" I watched Smackdown this evening while working on the Wanderer, so I wasn't able to give the event my full attention. I was able to notice that Batista vs. Edge III is on the horizon. Talk about beating a dead horse.
I love Edge. I met the guy and he was a great interview. For the details of that meeting, you'll have to fish through my column archives. That's one of the many things I love about 411 -- easy access to past columns.
Another guy I met not even two months ago was Batista. I met him during a photo shoot in Detroit just days before his big match with the Undertaker at WrestleMania 23. He signed five of my business cards so I could give to my friends and family. Of course, I remembered a few other friends who were left out later.
Batista was quiet (and tired from partying the night before) and very friendly. His tattoos were of particular interest to me. On his left shoulder, there is a giant Chinese symbol. He said he got that tattoo while
married to a Japanese lady. I thought it was kind of cool only because I had spent a couple of years living in Taiwan.
How and why did I meet Batista? That leads me to my announcement that I mentioned last week. The secret will be revealed next week.
Rewind eleven years to when Tammy "Sunny" Fytch was the most downloaded celebrity on America Online, she also made a great interview. To my recollection, she was a great interview keeping in mind that she had ample amounts of cleavage which made it very hard to do my job. It was interviews like that which made me want to thank God I was a man. I'd tell you more if I could remember.
Just a few thoughts on the news. The early buy-rate for Backlash is in and apparently it didn't do so well. This kind of surprises me considering that the best of all three brands were present. It's interesting though what is
truly in the mind of the wrestling fan.
Could Rob Van Dam really be staying with the WWE. 411, the Observer, Rajah, among other sites are claiming he's good as gone--which probably is the fact. Here is some food for thought. What if Rob Van Dam actually signed another deal keeping his contractual status a secret. Do you remember Matt?
Hardy resigning with the WWE? Hardy continued to complain about the WWE and Edge a month after he had signed a new deal. Rob's contract status has received a lot of media attention, particularly with the online wrestling media so anything could happen.
