The WWE Supplemental Draft is in the books. Love it or hate it, it did change the rosters quite a bit. I think that it featured many missed opportunities, if you read my predictions from the first Caribbean Corner, you will see why. But I think it also did a lot of positive things for the rosters. Let's take a look at the big losers and big winners from the draft, as well as those whose stock didn't change.
The Big Losers:
#6 William Regal
I think Regal was a loser simply because his team with Dave Taylor had potential in Smackdown. Moving him to Raw won't do him much good unless he gets a significant push as a heel, but I don't see it happening. Maybe he will be used as fodder for Santino Marella and then he will fall down the card. If both, Regal and Taylor where moved to Raw, it would have provided Raw with another good tag team for it's already solid tag team division.
#5 David Taylor
Yes he stayed on Smackdown. For what? Without Regal, I think he will get lost in the shuffle and be used as a job guy. Or he will be sent down to the developmental territories to work as a trainer.
#4 Daivari
On Smackdown, he had the cruiserweight division and could have been a good heel opponent for any babyface cruiserweight champion. On Raw, he is just another jobber. Unless he somehow ends up as a manager for another wrestler or forms a tag team with someone, he will just take Viscera's spot as heel jobber.
#3 Bob Holly
On ECW, Holly was a reliable upper midcard performer with a legitimate shot at the main event. He could thrive under extreme rules and put on good matches with Benoit, Punk and others. On Smackdown, I don't see him getting above the midcard. If he turns face, he could maybe put on good hard-hitting matches with MVP over the United States title. As a heel, well…I really don't know what he can do. He can job to Edge on a Smackdown broadcast and not much else.
#2 The Sandman
As an ECW original, he had room on ECW. He could hide behind garbage matches whenever extreme rules applied. On Raw, he will take Eugene's spot as babyface jobber. Yes, they hinted at a feud with Carlito. I have seen them face each other in Puerto Rico before, it isn't pretty! Carlito will beat him a couple of times and then he will be jobbing to Umaga in 30 seconds.
#1 Victoria
Why? Why would they move one of the few competent females they have to Smackdown, where there is no women's title, no women's division…nothing at all to showcase her! Horrible move!
The following wrestler's status was unaffected by the draft: Viscera, Miz, and Eugene: All three men will resume their current jobbers to the stars roles, just on different brands. Do you really think Miz will be pushed beyond the usual odd win here and there? And if they do, God save us!
The Big Winners:
#5 The Major Brothers
They went from a place without tag team titles to Smackdown, where they can chase for the gold. A feud with Deuce and Domino won't be pretty, but it will be better than what they where doing.
#4 Jillian Hall
On Raw they have a women's division. That should be enough to make her a winner as long as she gets pushed and feuds with Mickie James or Candice Michelle.
#3 Kenny Dykstra
Kenny has a lot of potential and I think he has the talent to go very far. On Smackdown he has plenty of new opponents like Matt Hardy and maybe if they play the "He goes down in weight to challenge for the cruiserweight title" card like they did with Hardy some years ago, he can even compete for a title. Yes, I think this move was one of the best of the entire draft.
#2 Johnny Nitro
Nitro will get an opportunity to become one of the important figures of ECW and play an integral part of the brand. Matches with Punk and Benoit among others will be good and this is a good opportunity for him to recover what he lost when he disappeared from the Intercontinental Title scene on Raw.
#1 London and Kendrick
My only gripe is that if they split up, there is no Cruiserweight Division on Raw. But the move might mean they will stay together and become the WWE's new marquee team a la Hardy Boys. They where promoted as the first pick this past Monday and put on an entertaining (but short) match with Benjamin and Haas. Plus, Raw gets more exposition than Smackdown. This is their time to shine!
Once again I really appreciate your feedback and thanks for reading.
