Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) sent out the following Press Release today: PWG's "Shake It 3 Times" on July 14th! By Silverback, PWG Staff Writer
Playa Del Rey, CA – The past three weeks at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) have been the three most important and shocking weeks since that bout of Pink Eye hit the locker room back in early 2005. For the first time ever PWG is currently under new "pwnership" as Bayani Domingo has arranged bought out the company from the PWG Six. While many things have changed in PWG including the ownership, roster, and 401K plan, there are still a number of holdovers that remain. PWG Commissioner Dino Winwood, Commissioner of "Food and Beverage" Excalibur, and Mama Talwar, along with her vast array of wieners and frosty beverages. After a very successful and exciting "Independent Draft" Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has locked up 16 of the top talents from around the world to exclusive contracts. While the nature and contents of those contracts remain Top Secret it is currently known that at least one clause will ensure a "Tuxedo Match" shall never again take place in PWG from henceforth.
With a new "pwner" and roster already in tow the newest era in PWG is set to begin with a re-debut show taking place at the Culver City Armory in Culver City, CA as PWG is proud to present "Shake It 3 Times" on Saturday, July 14,, 2007!! The event is schedule to feature:
-- After surviving the "Ind Draft" and remaining a member of the PWG locker room, El Generico is currently the only remaining champion on the roster. As such, Commissioner Dino Winwood was tasked with finding a new #1 contender. No sooner had the commissioner started scanner over the roster did he get a phone call from "The Trendsetter" Josh Abercrombie shouting about deserving a shot at the PWG title now that he had unquestionably the finest mustache left on the roster. While that may be true he is also a two-time IWA:MS champion and the newest #1 contender for the PWG World Title. Will Josh Abercrombie set a new trend as PWG champion or will El Generico start off the newest era in PWG the same way the last one ended, as PWG Champion?
Teacher vs. Student CIMA vs. Ultimo Dragon
-- PWG international star CIMA has become exclusive to the company after the draft and has been part of some of the greatest matches of the past year beginning with his incredible drive to the BoLA 2006 finals. While his future in PWG looks bright, he will face undoubtedly one of his toughest opponents from the past. Ultimo Dragon is a legendary high flyer who needs no introduction, but just in case he does, which he shouldn't, he is also responsible for giving CIMA his first big break in wrestling back when the Toryumon Gym was created. Their last meeting was 4 years ago and resulted in CIMA retaining the Toryumon Gym Championship. This time around Ultimo Dragon vows to put his student in his place and show him why he is not only the finest Junior to ever come out of Japan but why fringes also make your ass look fat (his words, not ours, or so we think, the PWG office lacks a translator as of yet). While the student prove again that he has surpassed the teacher, or will said teacher deal a final lesson to his student that he will not soon forget?
Grudge Match American DragonBryan Danielson vs. Teddy Hart
-- This is a grudge match that has been in the works for almost 4 years since a "certain" incident at a "certain" East Coast Indy Fed, which involved a "certain" someone moonsaulting all over a "certain" amount of unsuspecting roster members. While Danielson and Hart have met before in the ring, this is a whole new set of circumstances as each battles to show their dominance over PWG as the true "Ace" of the company. There is no love loss on either side as each man has stated that they will be "The Man" in PWG and the other will have to bow down and show respect as the lesser man. While "The Untanned Superman" and "Highest flyer in the business" are battling it out in the ring, the fans will surely be treated to a match with more than just a simple "W" on the line. What will happen when the "Best In The World" meets the "Past, Present, and Future of Wrestling"?
Tag Belt Tournament 1st Round Havana Pitbulls (Rocky Romero/Ricky Reyes) w/ Julius Smokes vs. The Muscle Outlawz (Masato YOSHINO/Genki Horiguchi) w/ Jade Chung
BLK OUT (Ruckus/Sabian) vs. Irish Airborne (Jack & David Crist)
-- With Roderick Strong regrettably being drafted away from the company, the PWG World Tag Team Titles were stripped from both Strong and PAC and a tournament announced for the vacant titles. With 3 teams already on the PWG roster the tournament was missing a final team to round out the brackets. Commissioner Winwood spent countless hours on the phone and internet looking for a possible 4th team, as well as running up countless charges from a 976 phone number claiming to guarantee the best "Big Wet Latina Asses" for only $1.99 per minute. After submitting his expense report to the PWG offices he got a call on his cell phone from one team with a chip on it's shoulder for being left undrafted by all 6 companies. Irish Airborne has been signed as the last team competing for the richest prize two men can simultaneously share this side of Jade Chung. Will an "International Incident" break out over the tag titles or will the PWG fans be treated to the great tag tournament since...May.
Strong Style vs. Lucha Libre Davey Richards vs. Alex Kozlov
-- Only a few years ago these two men were cutting their teeth in the local SoCal Indy wrestling scene when they both received a shot at making the PWG roster as full-time members. Since then they have gone their separate ways as Alex Kozlov signed on to become a member of the CMLL roster and Davey Richards cast his fortunes back East with an unofficial "apprenticeship" under Puroresu star KENTA. Now both men meet for the first time ever in a PWG 1 on 1 to see who learned the superior style of wrestling and who merely wasted their time while being severely pummeled by sweaty foreign men in spandex they don't understand (like that spring break in Rosarito Beach). Which will prove to be the superior style of wrestling, Strong Style of Lucha Libre?
Ladder Match for PWG Title Shot PAC vs. Scorpio Sky vs. M-Dogg 20
Fatal 4 way for PWG Contract, loser is never booked in PWG again B-Boy vs. Babi Slymm vs. Joker vs. Quicksilver
-- With a majority of the PWG roster already under contract, the new PWG owner has tasked both commissioners with finding new talent to place under contract. While Dino Winwood and Excalibur both high and low for talent it appeared that not only did the answers come from within the PWG roster, but also trying to look for talent while "High" usually resulted in a trip to Benito's for a bean burrito and a long, long nap. Several members already under contract had suggestions as to who should be signed and as a result the first round of prospects has been lined up. As part of the new "West Coast Rottweilers" B-Boy was nominated by the Pitbulls. Scorpio Sky felt he needed someone to "watch his back" and nominated a long time associate, "Big" Babi Slymm. Naturally the members of BLK OUT sought to increase their numbers with the nomination of Joker. Not to be out done the current PWG Champion El Generico nominated long time friend and former tag team partner Quicksilver for a PWG roster spot. The stakes are high as the winner of the match takes home a guaranteed PWG contract while the man who is pinned of submits will never be allowed on a PWG show again. Who will become the newest member of the PWG roster and who will be relegated to the Inoki Dojo and the slim hopes of a WSX revival?
Women's Showcase Match Cheerleader Melissa vs. MsChif vs. Shelly Martinez
Plus The Youngbucks, Peter Goodman, Ronin, Top Gun Talwar, Commissioner of Food & Beverage Excalibur, Commissioner of Wrestling Dino Winwood, and more!

Full Impact Pro (FIP) sent out the following Press Release today: From the Desk of Matt Adamson: So Full Impact Pro set out to do two things and not only did we do those two things, but we also exceeded our own expectations. We set out to have a hard-hitting, top line main event core and succeeded. WE set out to have some of best high flying daredevil action and we succeeded there too. The main event scene should be top lined with Nigel McGuire's vs. Takeshi Maritime. But also having Andrew "Test" Martin, BJ Whiter, and Kevin Steen will ensure that our main events will never get old as we have tons of possibilities. Our high flying group will end up mostly dominating the Heritage Title division with tons of potential **** matches featuring Jack Evans, Grin Akuma, Matt Sydal, and Sean Waltman. But as I said, we also exceeded our goals with our later draft picks, including Andrew Martin. We drafted Rob Conway and "Machine Gun" Anderson with to provide great FIP action from top to bottom. We drafted Icarus and the Heartbreak Express in the final two rounds as a surpirse, given that nobody expected the FIP to have a tag team division. And above all else, we drafted Chris Jericho, given the FIP the best show on the planet... The Highlight Reel! This is an exciting time for Full Impact Pro as we will also bring in unsigned talent to push our guys to the limits. So check out the opening card, and you'll see what I mean.
-Main Event for the FIP World Heavyweight Championship - Nigel McGuiness vs. Takeshi Morishima
-Ladder Match for the FIP Heritage Title - Jack Evans vs. Sean Waltman vs. Gran Akuma vs. Matt Sydal
-Falls Count Anywhere - BJ Whitmer vs. Kevin Steen

-Kenny King vs. Rob Conway
-For the Full Impact Pro Tag Team Titles - Irish Airborne vs. Heartbreak Express

CHIKARA PRO sent out the following Press Release today: From the Desk of Matt Adamson: With the conclusion of the 411 Independent Wrestling Draft, Chikara Pro offered the following press release: We at CHIKARA are very pleased with how our draft turned out. In fact we feel as though we ended up getting the best of the picks. The idea behind the CHIKARA draft was to continue to be innovative and provide new ways for the product to evolve. I think we have done just that. We picked up some of the best talent in the world today, which will make for a stunning first show. The addition of Sara Del Rey and Amazing Kong show that women mean something more than eye candy to CHIKARA. With such incredible female athletes, CHIKARA will be the standard for wrestling of all genders. With our first show coming in the first week of August, you can expect fantastic never before seen matches such as KENTA & Naomichi Marufuji vs. Super Dragon & Mike Quakenbush, Brandon Thomaselli vs. Naruki Doi and of course, a women's dream match of Sara Del Rey vs. Amazing Kong. We will also keep to the spirit of CHIKARA with a total of three six-man tag team matches. CHIKARA is about the progression of professional wrestling, be a part of the hype.

IWA: Mid-South (IWAMS) sent out the following Press Release today: From the Desk of IWA:MS owner Ari Berenstein: IWA: Mid-South has concluded an extremely beneficial and ultimately satisfying run in the draft selection process. I believe that we have followed our core beliefs and goals that were set out at the beginning of the draft. Unfortunately we lost the rights to some of the more well known IWA: MS roster members such as the great team of the Thomasellis, the ineffable "Sweet and Sour" Larry Sweeney, the inexorable personalities of Josh Ambercrombie, Tyler Black and a few other picks did not break our way. I had hoped to draft Arik Cannon at some point so we could do the Arik-Erick Connection with Erick Stevens; alas it was not to be. I wish these former IWA: MS wrestlers nothing but the best in their future endeavors. On the other hand, IWA:MS has been able to gain exclusivity to quite a few of its mainstays. Chuck Taylor, Eddie Kingston and Necro Butcher among other past and current IWA:MS stars who are going to bring the goods in this new promotion.
I look at some of our additions and there is a ton of excitement and anticipation about what these guys can do. "The Shooter" Brent Albright was a monster draft pick and I think all fans are going to be extremely pleased with his performance in the ring. Sabu is a wildcard of epic proportions and the energy he brings to the ring will entertain and please our fan base. Up and comers such as Sylvester Terkay, Erick Stevens and Lince Dorado Jr. will look to prove themselves to the IWA:MS fans. Former WWE superstar, "The Fashion Plate" Joey Mercury has also expressed his eagerness to bring his talents to the fore in this fantastic new endeavor.
Of course not all is right within the IWA:MS locker room. Immediately (and actually, not surprisingly), after his being selected as the first round draft pick, Chris Hero has emailed the office a list of demands to be met, including a personal training room, access to gym equipment with free weights, a treadmill and a Bowflex "like the ones in those commercials." He has also demanded a fruit bowl and bottles of flavored spring water to be delivered to his dressing room. While we at IWA:MS are excited about what Chris Hero and his Kings of Wrestling can provide for this promotion in terms of ticket sales and from the standpoint of in ring performances, we are a bit concerned that Chris Hero is letting his ego get ahead of himself. We are currently negotiating with Hero and his contingent about said demands and expect things to be worked out by the first show. Commissioner Bill Goldberg, who IWA:MS welcomes with open arms, has expressed immediately his distaste for the attitude of Chris Hero and his entourage. "My role in this promotion is to let the best of the best fight it out and settle their difference the best way I know how—through violence!", the new commissioner stated. "If Chris Hero thinks he can move and politic and demand his way out of that, he has another thing coming."
Prince Nana has also expressed some demands to IWA:MS for his client Jimmy Rave. These include a bowl of shrimp cocktail and a personal human footstool for Rave's entrance to the ring. Nana has also tried to include a clause in Jimmy Rave's contract prohibiting the throwing of toilet paper. However, the lawyers at Conem, Fleecem and Sue have assured IWA: MS that Nana has no legs to stand on in this regard. We can happily announce that the fans of IWA:MS can throw as much toilet paper at Jimmy Rave and Prince Nana as they please.
IWA:MS will continue to use many wrestlers from its current roster, albeit on an non-exclusive basis. We welcome back to IWA:MS: Mad Man Pondo, "Mr. Insane" Toby Klein and Drake Younger. These wrestlers will no doubt fill out an incredibly tough and chaotic Hardcore division. All of these men are experts at their craft: pain.
IWA:MS will also feature some of the toughest, hardest hitting women on the independent wrestling scene. Cheerleader Melissa, MsChif and Daizee Haze will all make their way to IWA:MS for exciting women's competition. IWA:MS original Mickie Knuckles will also return and now she has her hands full with this talented crop of wrestlers. Who will prove themselves to be the toughest woman on the independent scene?
IWA:MS talent also includes the young and exciting combination of Cheech and Cloudy (known as Up in Smoke), the rascally duo of Jagged and Shane Matthews (known as 2.0), top flight lightweight wrestler Marek Brave, Mid-West's best tag team comprised of twins, the Phoenix Twins of Tweek and Dash, and more talent will be announced for future shows. We are currently attempting to contact "Spyder" Nate Webb, but unfortunately communication seems to be hard to come by as apparently he has been evicted from his current housing.
A quick note about the status of our championships. All current champions have been stripped of their titles. A tournament will be held in the upcoming months to determine a new IWA:MS Heavyweight champion. We will also have a IWA:MS Lightweight Champion and an IWA:MS Hardcore Division Champion. More details on these champions will be released soon.
We are incredibly excited about these new endeavors and once again welcome all fans to attend our debut show, "We Mean Business". Here is how the card shapes up, as well as some of the stories behind our feature bouts:
IWA:MS "We Mean Business" (Show 1)
LIVE! From: Midlothian, Illinois!
Main Event: Hardcore and Violence Dream Match
NECRO BUTCHER vs. "The Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal, Death-Defying" SABU
It doesn't get any better for fans of hardcore than this certifiable dream match. Necro Butcher and Sabu have been notorious for violent and out of control wars inside and outside the ring. They brawl like truckers on a twenty four hour bender and they don't care about their own well being, much less their opponents, so long as they come out the victor at the end of the match. Now for the first time, you fans will get to see the twenty first century man of hardcore take on the barbaric hardcore legend of his own time and ours. They will do what they do best. They will punch each other. They will hit each other with chairs. They will throw each other through tables. They will even become barbed wired. All that and more is possible when these two brutes go at it, full force, in this one of a kind endeavor. Nowhere else in the landscape Independent wrestling will you see this match except right here in IWA:MS.
The Kings Return to IWA: MS
The Kings of Wrestling of Chris Hero and "The Most Money Making Man" Claudio Castagnoli vs. "The Shooter" Brent Albright and "The Last of a Dying Breed" Eddie Kingston
Immediately after being informed that he was in the same promotion as Chris Hero, the man known as "The Last of a Dying Breed", Eddie Kingston was livid to say the least. He immediately wanted to be involved in a match against Hero and his Kings of Wrestling tag team partner Claudio Castagnolo: "You know, I thought I was rid of Chris Hero for good. He and I go way back and to say we've had our differences, well that's an understatement. What you have to understand is that I can't stand him and he can't stand me…and that's the way it's always going to be. So, Chris Hero, you have the unfortunate privilege of finding yourself in the same promotion as Eddie Kingston. Bad luck for me, even worse luck for you. My goal is now crystal clear and simple. I'm going to get rid of you for good, because the one thing for sure is that you and I, we can't coexist in the same promotion, and before long, one of us has got to go. And it ain't going to be me."
As far as the involvement of the "The Shooter" Brent Albright is concerned, this fight is all about competition and proving himself to be the best. "Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli were picked in the first round of the draft. That really chafes me quite a bit. I'm out to prove to the fans and to the promoters that I am the best wrestler around and I will go through Hero and Castagnoli to do it."
Hero and Castagnoli are non-plussed about the whole endeavor. "Heyyyy!", Claudio Castagnoli begins, "The Kings are back and everything is as it should be. We will rule IWA:Mid South and it simply doesn't matter who our competition is in the ring."
"Eddie Kingston? Easy Peas-y my man," chimes in Hero with an air of extreme confidence. "Every time we've fought, I've beaten the man, mind, body and soul. I've made him bleed more times than a hemophiliac. He's not a problem. And as for Brent Albright, well, I hate to break it to you, but there's a reason why the Swiss Idio…Idiosyncratic superstar, uh yeah that's it; Claudio Castagnoli and I were picked first. It's because we're simply the best, better than all the rest. And yeah I did just quote a Tina Turner song. Why? Because like Ms. Turner, everything we touch turns to gold. Or platinum. She did sell a lot of records."
"Heyyyy!"
"Albright, you just have to face facts, you're an inferior athlete, and with Claudio and my personal fitness trainer Tank Toland by my side you're no match for me. Face it, you're the clear number two selection in IWA:MS. Kings, we're number one."
The Fashion Plate vs. The Embassy
Joey Mercury vs. Jimmy Rave (with Prince Nana)
"For me, this is about redemption", says Joey Mercury, formerly one half of the one of the greatest tag teams of the last five years in MNM. "A few months back, I was given the shaft in the WWE. I did some things that I wasn't proud of, but I've handled my end of things now and I'm ready to start over. I've been talking to some of the fans of IWA:MS down in Indiana and Illinois. Real good people. They understand the dangers and the risks we take in the ring, and the kind of dangers that come from the lifestyle we live. I won't say that I won't ever make those mistakes again. The future is uncertain. I will say that I am taking my life one day at a time now, and that my number one priority is success in the ring. I am dedicated to being not only "The Fashion Plate" but the real model for how to live a good life. Jimmy Rave and Prince Nana--well, they're guilty of having bad fashion sense as well as having a bad sense of morality. They're just two corrupt fools. They're perfect for each other. But what they don't understand is something I already comprehend full well. When you deal with the devil, eventually you're going to lose your soul. I've got my chance to redeem myself, and I'm going to do it right here, in the new IWA: Mid South. And I'm going to look good while I do it."
Light Heavyweight Attraction Match
Lince Dorado Jr. vs. "Sexy Chucky T" Chuck Taylor
"I am so outraged right now that I want to push these little brats off of the diving board!" exclaims former IWA: Mid-South heavyweight champion "Sexy Chucky T", Chuck Taylor pointing at some youngsters fifteen feet high in the air, after learning of his being stripped of his title. He is in the middle of a public pool in his hometown of Raccoon City, Kentucky. After taking a several week vacation, Taylor was informed of his status as a member of the IWA:MS roster via a fan who ripped his round five-draft selection and posted a video shoot on YouTube. "Those punk kids, I hate them!!!" He snapped at the young and intrepid IWA:MS office worker sent to interview him. "What are they, thirteen? fourteen? What the hell do they know about the business! I'll smash them! To think I had to hear it from that blasted Internet that I was hired for IWA:MS! Then I get a call from Commissioner Bill Goldberg and I was like, ‘Who's Bill Goldberg? Never heard of him.' Next thing you know I'm stripped of my title! This is shenanigans, I say. Shenanigans!"
Taylor takes a shot of Malibu Maybreeze given to him by the Cabana boy...one wonders why a public pool would have a Cabana boy, but that is not this reporter's concern. Taylor continues: "Well, onto bigger and better things I say. Reclaim the Heavyweight title? Heck NO! What would that prove? I've already been the dominant champion of this promotion for years! No...It's time to prove what I've always said...if you can't be great, be good. If you can't be tall, be short. And if you can't be Heavyweight champion, then do the next best thing: go on a diet and become the NEW Light Heavyweight champion of IWA:MS!"
When told there were no immediate plans to have a Light Heavyweight title match at the debut show for the NEW IWA:MS, Taylor remained undeterred. "I might as well get in a few practice reps right now. Who do they've got in this division anyway? I hear that Lince Dorado Jr. guy is making some noise. Maybe I'll show him the ropes on how to do this Lucha thing. I hear all the boys in the back going crazy over Lucha!"
When told Lince Dorado Jr. was actually a master at the Lucha style of wrestling, Taylor concluded that he had enough of this reporter. "You're done! GET OUTTA HERE!" Despite it being a public pool, the writer complied, if only to escape the intimidation of one "Sexy Chucky T". Needless to say, Lince Dorado Jr. will have his hands full with the former champion on the debut show.
