A special look at the Great American Bash. Good or bad? The Phill has his thoughts.

Could WWE's next PPV be a gigantic flop? To avoid sounding that negative, I'm going to say no.
A Bobby Lashley/ John Cena main event is a lot better than a Cena/ Khali one. For the first time I'm wondering if John Cena is actually going to retain the title. As of September, he would have had it for a full year. While I appreciate Cena winning the title in the greatest city in the world, Toronto, and defending it as he has, Lashley has been pushed to the hilt and could be set to take it from Cena.
But another scenario that could happen is that Cena retains, but Lashley wins the match. Randy Orton will then take the title from Cena at Summer Slam getting over as RAW's top heel. That's not if a returning Triple H doesn't take the title for the eleventh time.
The Edge/ Kane main event is a little weak. Kane is a worthy contender, but he hasn't had the time to be pushed to a believable level. This match has Edge retaining for sure.
The MVP/ Matt Hardy match looks interesting though. This match will be a good indicator if the WWE is really serious about pushing Matt Hardy. If Hardy wins the title, then he might get a World title shot. If he jobs, then I can't see him getting the title in the immediate future. If Hardy wins the match but not the title--the questions will remain. It was refreshing to see Jeff Hardy in the Main Event on RAW.
Johnny Nitro has gone hardcore after being Tommy Dreamer in a brilliant match on ECW on Sci-Fi. At GAB, he defends the title against future champion CM Punk. Nitro will retain for now, but will lose it later. I'm going to be either a fortune teller or a dreamer with this prediction--maybe Nitro might be the very champion that will help re-identify the new ECW as hardcore.
Batista and the Great Khali are shifting gears for a fight too. I think Batista will win, but I think I'm a little bias on that one. It's because Batista is in the Fall Edition of Maximum Fitness which is currently on the newsstands. Get a sample of the issue at maxfitmag.com. Shameless plug.
The Randy Orton/ Dusty Rhodes match I'll be looking at with great interest. Now that Dusty has brought in Codey, it would be great to have Goldust (as Dustin Rhodes) come out and cost Orton the win. This would definitely escalate a family feud between the Ortons and the Rhodes.
Either way, the Great American Bash has a few good matches and a few snores, but so does every other WWE PPV. See you next week.
