Schmozzes & Screwjobs 08.21.07: The FU TNA Edition

August 21, 2007 | Posted by Daniel Wilcox

Word on the street is that Total Non-Stop Action sucks ass, and the new cool thing to do is bitch about all the dumb stuff they’ve been doing the past couple of months, such as Kurt Angle winning three championships and then having to defend them all in one night. However, I’m a trendsetter, not a follower, so I’m not going to mention how terribly awful TNA booking and programming has become.

On second thought, yes I am.

TNA sucks. Kurt Angle sucks. Vince Russo sucks. Oh, Jeff Jarrett and Dutch Mantel? Yep, they suck too.

Welcome to the show…

Please come inside…

BOOM! So yeah, today’s Screwjob is going to be going back all of 9 days to TNA’s Hard Justice show where Kurt Angle used his extremely hot wife to screw Samoa Joe. Wait, let me reword that. Samoa Joe got done over by Angle and his big-breasted missus. Nope, still not right. Joe’s gonna kill – who? Today we look at how TNA has managed to destroy one of their best characters for the purpose of putting over an ex-WWE star. Today we look at all the dumb crap TNA has been throwing on us all year (yes, it may well be a very long column). And today we say a big “fuck you” to TNA.

The Hard Justice Screwjob
Winner Takes All: Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle
TNA Hard Justice – 08/12/07, The iMPACT Zone, Orlando, Fl.

The Build-Up: Almost a year ago today, Kurt Angle was released by World Wrestling Entertainment, apparently due to “personal issues” but over the next few days news filtered out that Angle had refused to take time off to heal injuries and instead Angle continued to take painkillers and keep on going. From what I understand, there was a big bust up between Angle and WWE owner Vince McMahon and Angle was released. Of course if you ask Kurt Angle, he walked out. Within weeks, Angle had signed a contract to TNA.

The signing of the 6 time former World Champion was announced to the world at TNA’s No Surrender pay-per-view on September 24th 2005. At this same event, Samoa Joe would go one-on-one with NWA Champion Jeff Jarrett in a non-title Fans Revenge Lumberjack match where fans surrounded the ring with leather straps. In the end Joe beat Jarrett and then walked out with his championship belt despite the fact that the fight was not for the title.

On October 19th Kurt Angle made his TNA debut, interrupting Samoa Joe who was in the ring and apparently refusing to return the NWA Championship to Jarrett. Angle and Joe went at it verbally and eventually this sparked a brawl between the two. While all of this was going on, Jeff Jarrett was able to sneak in and recapture the title belt.

After winning a fatal four way match at Victory Road a few months earlier, it was Sting who was the number one contender and he would meet Jarrett for the gold at Bound For Glory while Kurt Angle would be special enforcer. A brawl occurred before the match between Angle and Joe, and Joe was told if he interfered in the main event he would be removed from the TNA roster. Joe beat Raven, Brother Runt and Abyss in a Monster’s Ball Match that night, while Sting forced Jarrett to submit to become champion.

Angle and Joe would continue to feud for many months, competing in tag matches against each on Impact and also having more pull-apart brawls than one can handle along the way. By the way, these brawls never accomplished anything other than letting us know that these to wanted to fight; because we couldn’t have worked that our without a hundred fights between the two backstage.

The first meeting of the two came at Genesis 2006 on November 19th and went down a little something like this;

From Csonka’s Genesis Report: They circle to begin, lock up and to the corner they go. They battle around the ropes and 22 seconds in we have a this is awesome chant. They break, lock up and a take down by Angle. Ankle lock try and Joe gets the ropes. Lock up and knees by Joe. Jabs to Angle, and then boots by Joe as Angle is down. Joe grabs Angle, more jabs. Off the ropes and a boot and overhead belly to belly by Angle! Clothesline by Angle and Joe falls to the floor. Joe snags Angle from the ring by his legs and SLAMS him into the railing head first. Back into the ring and Joe covers for 2. Forearms by Angle, Irish whip and Angle misses a charge and SLAMS into the post. Running charge by Joe and the ELBOW SUICIDA connects! Joe runs Angle around the ring and slams him into the steps. Joe back in the ring and he and Earl have a shoving contest as Angle tries to recover on the floor. Angle is up and BUSTED open where he had the bandage on from Thursday. Joe lays the stiff boots to the head of Angle as he crawls back in. Joe rips at the cut now as Angle pours blood. Joe wipes the blood on his chest, Angle fights back, off the ropes and Joe gets the snap powerslam and cover for 2. Cross faces by Joe, crowd way into it. Joe grabs Angle, he fight back and off the ropes…tilt a whirl back breaker by Joe gets 2. Joe stalks Angle and just pummels him in the corner. Joe sets Angle up top…chops to Angle. Angle slaps back and then gets a front face lock on Joe. Joe picks him up and Angle gets a sweet tornado DDT on Joe. 1…2…NO! To their feet and they exchange rights. Joe in control with jabs, misses a charge and a German by Angle! Another! Joe fights but Angle gets a release on that one and drops Joe on his head, Angle covers for 2. Angle slam countered and the running knee of doom by Joe! Sets Angle up top, leaping Enziguri by Joe! Muscle buster try….CONNECTS! 1…2…NO! Crowd loving the match, Joe grabs Angle, clutch try but Angle rolls and gets an Angle slam! 1…2…NO! Angle up, STRAPS DOWN! Grabs the leg, ANKLE LOCK! Joe fights…Joe rolls and kicks at Angle but Angle holds on. Joe continues to fight, rolls and slips Angle into the clutch! Angle is trapped, he tries to break the hold and gets the ankle lock again out of the clutch! Angle rips at the ankle, Joe fights, he rolls and Angle hits the corner. Joe misses a charge, eats the post. Angle slam! Straps up….STRAPS DOWN AGAIN! Ankle lock by Angle and he drops down into the grapevine! Joe struggles for the ropes and JOE TAPS! JOE TAPS! JOE TAPS!

So in the first meeting of the two, Angle beats Joe which is absolutely fine, as this was Angle’s first pay-per-view match in TNA and losing to Angle is nothing to worry about, especially under the circumstances of a great match, which this undoubtedly was. Some were disappointed that it only went thirteen minutes, but in hindsight it is obvious that they didn’t want to give too much away in the first encounter as there were to be many more. While I don’t think was a tremendous match, or even one that lived up to the hype, it was certainly a great bout and at the time we thought it was a small prelude of what was to come. Things didn’t get any better.

The pull-apart brawls would continue, only they added the point that Angle didn’t want to give Joe a rematch, but eventually he did, so it was all a bit of a waste of time really. So the two met again at Turning Point on December 10th and this time it was Samoa Joe who got the win, forcing Angle to submit to the Coquina Clutch. We were then treated to an underwhelming at best Iron Man Match at Final Resolution in January of this year that saw Angle beat Joe by 3-2 in a half hour encounter.

From here on, both guys had title shots at Christian Cage but Cage retained on both occasions. However in the King of the Mountain match at Slammiversary, Angle won the title in a match that also featured Cage, Joe, AJ Styles and Chris Harris. Then at Victory Road, Angle and Joe teamed up in the Match of Champions to take on Team 3D. Joe won the match o become Tag Team and X Division champion. Angle held on to his TNA and IWGP titles.

From here on the rivalry headed a new direction as Kurt Angle’s wife Karen was brought in and signed to a TNA contract. Several times on Impact Angle was shown mistreating his wife and children in the back. This lead to a promo in the ring where Karen told Kurt that their marriage was over while Joe was little more than a footnote. He said he was going to take everything away from Joe. At Hard Justice, they would meet in a Winner Takes All title match. During the show, Karen was seen backstage with a new boyfriend. Several vignettes ran with Angle and “Dr. Nash” trying to resolve Angle’s issues.

How It Went Down: From Larry’s Hard Justice report;

WINNER TAKES ALL THE TITLES: Kurt Angle (IWGP and TNA World Champion) vs. Samoa Joe (TNA Tag Team and X-Division Champion)?

?Here we go. Lock up and to the ropes and Angle backs off and Joe pushes him. Karen and boy toy are not at ringside yet. Side headlock takedown by Angle. Joe to his feet, off the ropes and Joe levels Angle. Angle is up and shoves Joe, but Joe tosses him on his ass and Angle rolls to the floor. Angle takes a powder and here is Karen and the boy toy. Angle yells at them and Joe smiles. Back into the ring and an arm bar by Angle, into a wrist lock and Joe manages to get to his feet, and Angle pulls his hair and then retreats to the floor. Back in, lock up and a headlock by Joe. Angle escapes and pulls Joe’s hair and to the floor he goes again. Back in, wrist lock by Angle again, and Joe pulls the singlet of Angle and gets the advantage. Lock up and a headlock again, off the ropes and Joe grabs the tights again and holds the headlock. He does it again and Joe denies it. To the corner and Angle backs off. He drops the straps and boots by Angle, rights follow. Off the ropes and a sunset flip and Joe pantes Angle. Angle is pissed and Karen laughs. HA HA HAAAAAAA. Angle yells at her now and she tosses a drink in his face. Joe out and chops to Angle. Back into the ring and chops, kicks and a knee drop by Joe gets 2. Jabs by Joe, Irish whip and Angle misses and nails the post. Joe back on the attack and jabs to Angle. Face wash and the charging boot connect. Joe covers for 2. Chops by Joe now, off the ropes and Angle reverses and gets a German on Joe! Uppercuts by Angle, rights and to the corner they go. Angle beats down Joe and chokes out Joe with the boot. Snap suplex by Angle and a cover for 2. Camel clutch variant by Angle. Joe to his feet, elbows out and Germans by Angle. Another connects. A 3rd is blocked and Joe gets a sick release German on Angle, who flips to his gut. Both men down, they get to their feet and they exchange rights. Jabs by Joe, misses a round house and then manages a clothesline. Another connects. Angle back with uppercuts and he goes off the ropes, snap slam by Joe for 2. Back elbow by Angle, but Joe with an Enziguri! 1…2…NO! Eye rake by Angle, GERMAN on Joe. More bullshit is shown with Karen at ringside, Angle stalks Joe, Angle slam countered and Joe gets the STJOE~! 1…2…NO! Joe sets Angle up top, Muscle buster countered and Angle gets the Ankle lock! Joe rolls and escapes, KOKINA CLUTCH, reversal and Angle gets the ankle lock! Joe kicks out and rolls up Angle for 2. Angle slam by Angle, 1…2…NO! Angle to his feet, grabs Joe and delivers uppercuts. Sets Joe up top…rights to Joe and Angle up with him…Joe fights and head butts Angle off. Angle back up, runs up and gets an overhead belly to belly off the top to Joe! 1…2…NO! Angle yells at Karen, goes up top…MOONSAULT MISSES~! Joe grabs Angle, sets him up top…rights to Angle, MUSCLE BUSTA~! 1…2…NO! Joe grabs Angle, clutch locked in and he drops down! Angle bites his hand and gets the ankle lock! Joe fights, Joe reverses and gets the clutch again! Angle is fading…but he rolls a bit to fight…and gets a foot on the ropes. Jabs by Joe, Irish whip and Angle nails the ref…FN RF BUMP. Joe gets the clutch and Angle taps, but no ref, go figure. Joe goes to revive the ref and a LOW BLOW by Angle! Karen is up and has a chair and fakes giving it to Joe and she laughs. Angle chop blocks him and gets the chair, nails Joe and he revives the ref. 1….2…3

Wonderful.

Analysis: TNA at the moment, is a dreadful wrestling promotion. This is supposed to be their big feud, the one that will make them all the money and here it being turned into nothing more than a typical Russo-esque soap opera pile of crap. Tell me, who seriously thought bringing in Karen Angle would make things better? No one, Angle just wanted to make sure his family got a little extra money from the promotion. Is Jeff Jarrett really this blind? Does he not remember when he and Mantel were booking good shows week in and week out? When the X Division mattered and when the tag teams actually meant something.

The most infuriating part of all this is the potential on TNA’s roster. Kurt Angle was one of the best wrestlers in the world a year ago, and now, because of his own stupidity and TNA’s booking, he doesn’t mean shit to anybody. Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle was supposed to be a dream feud and instead it has turned into a joke that no one gives a damn about.

Tell me, does Angle having all the gold really put him over more than just having the TNA title? No it doesn’t because he still only won a single match to get the X and Tag titles. What it does do is make the rest of the roster look like a complete waste of fucking space. And now Angle has to defend all the titles in one night? What’s the point? If he retains ‘em, it makes the rest of the roster look like shit. If he loses them, it doesn’t help anyone because they were beating a guy who had 3 matches in one night.

And where does Samoa Joe come into all of this? He’s a foot note, and a joke of one at that. No one gives a shit about Samoa Joe any more, well at least I don’t. Remember when Samoa Joe was a complete bad ass who could go out there and have an amazing match with anyone in the company. Seems like a long time ago huh? While he can still have a good match, he’s also a little bitch to Kurt Angle, a former WWE star.

Which brings me to my next point – why do they insist on bringing in ex-WWE guys?! Only Christian Cage has been a real success. Who needs Test when they already had a Test rip-off in Lance Hoyte? And whatever you do TNA, don’t even consider putting some of your homegrown guys over.

AJ Styles – the lap dog. Do people still care about Styles any more? Sure, he’s great in this role, but he was a thousand times better when he was allowed to win a match and stand out on his own. I can’t even remember the last match he won, or even used the Styles Clash. TNA best performer is a lackey to an ex-WWE guy. Great booking, TNA.

Christopher Daniels was a potential star. He’s another guy that can work face or heel, cut good promos and have awesome matches. 2007 was the time to push him up the card and into the main event. Instead, they failed at pushing him and quickly decided to throw him back in a tag team that goes against TNA’s own booking decisions. Oh, but that was three years ago, no one will remember that.

X Division? What X Division? Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt? Who gives a shit. I remember a time when Joe, Styles and Daniels would main event pay-per-views and put on ***** matches. They even failed to make Senshi worth his pay check and he can be a star when used right. Nice work on giving them personalities though. Shame they’ll never get more than 5 minutes in the ring on Impact.

Fire VKM! No one cares about them in 2007. This ain’t 1999 you dumb bastards. Get rid of Team 3D, the definition of past your sell-by date. Even WWE knew they were past it way back in 2004. Jesus Christ TNA get a grip. Why is Dustin Rhodes on my TV? For fuck’s sake, sort it out.

To hell with TNA and their as backwards booking. They’ll get two hours and they’ll fail miserably. They’ll go out of business and I can’t wait. Christian Cage will go back to WWE and be everything you couldn’t make him. Sting might even have that dream run in the E. Hell, they might even pick up Joe, Styles, and Harris and Daniels. And where will the Jarrett’s and Russo be? Probably working for Hulk Hogan’s promotion, because we all know that’s starting up soon. Give me a break.

The Schmozz Count

Week Commencing 08/13/07:
Raw – 1, Cade & Murdoch vs. Cryme Tyme
ECW – 2, Stevie Richards vs. Kevin Thorn, John Morrison vs. Boogeyman
Impact – None

Wow, lot’s of schmozzing this week.

The Schmozz Count: 73 + 5 = 78!

False Finishes and Fan Cams

The Post-Millennium Summerslam Awards: The Votes Are In!

I give credit to you guys for coming out in your hundreds to vote on the Summerslam awards and picking some damn fine winners, and a few not so fine winners. Let’s take a look at what you voted for.

Best Summerslam Theme Song:

My personal choice: Bodies by Drowning Pool
3rd Place: Enemy by Godsmack (9%)
2nd Place: St. Anger by Metallica (18%)
1st Place: Bodies by Drowning Pool (42%)

Good work, people! This song is just so energetic and chaotic and fitted Summerslam 2001 perfectly as the bodies certainly did hit the floor.

Most Breathtaking Spot Award:

My personal choice: Matt Hardy takes a blind dive, backwards off a ladder through 2 tables.
3rd Place: Jeff Hardy puts himself through a table, missing a Swanton from a 20ft ladder. (12%)
2nd Place: Goldberg spears Chris Jericho through the Elimination Chamber cell. (13%)
1st Place: Shane McMahon takes a drop from the tron (36%)

It’s hard to argue with this choice as McMahon fell a supposed 70ft height and even though this would have been exaggerated, it was probably at least 25-30 foot. That crazy Shane O.

Best Opening Match:

My personal choice: Kurt Angle vs. Rey Mysterio
3rd Place: Chris Benoit vs. Orlando Jordan (7%)
2nd Place: Lance Storm vs. Edge (9%)
1st Place: Kurt Angle vs. Rey Mysterio (75%)

Wow, what a margin. There were some good choices on the list so I didn’t expect this to be such a landslide. Great back and forth match here even though I feel that the wrong guy went over.

Best Main Event:

My personal choice: Edge vs. John Cena
3rd Place: Shawn Michaels vs. Hulk Hogan (19%)
2nd Place: The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar (24%)
1st Place: The Rock vs. Kurt Angle vs. Triple H (26%)

Really guys, are you sure? The triple threat was a fun match but considering the guys involved I didn’t think it was all that great, and Cena/Edge delivered big time last year and had a tremendous match. Craziness, readers, craziness.

Best Build Up:

My personal choice: Shawn Michaels vs. Hulk Hogan
3rd Place: The Rock vs. Triple H vs. Kurt Angle (14%)
2nd Place: Shawn Michaels vs. Hulk Hogan (15%)
1st Place: Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H (29%)

Not a real surprise here as the Michaels/Trips feud had a lot of energy, tons of heat and a good angle going into a big time match-up. I personally thought the promo work from Michaels during the HBK/Hogan feud should have taken it but the readers have voted!

Worst Match:

My personal choice: Some were intended to just be angles, and others weren’t that bad.
3rd Place: N/A
2nd Place (Tie): Shane McMahon vs. Eric Bischoff, Big Show vs. Sabu, Undertaker and Kane vs. DDP and Kanyon (16%)
1st Place: The Kat vs. Terri (44%)

What, you guys don’t like the tits and ass?

Best Match:

My personal choice: Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H
3rd Place: Stone Cold vs. Kurt Angle (14%)
2nd Place: Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H (30%)
1st Place: Tables, Ladders and Chairs I (36%)

So you like the spotfests, huh? Well it was an awesome match in fairness, though I thought the Michaels return deal would have stolen it. I wonder if Angle/Austin would have had more votes if it didn’t end in a DQ.

Mr. Summerslam:

My personal choice: Triple H
3rd Place: Triple H (16%)
2nd Place: Kurt Angle (18%)
1st Place: Shawn Michaels (28%)

Wow, Michaels is now Mr. Summerslam and Mr. WrestleMania, and considering he missed Summerslam 2000, 2001 and 2004 that ain’t bad. His performances in 2002 and 2005 probably earned him this though.

Best Summerslam:

My personal choice: 2002
3rd Place: 2001 (8%)
2nd Place: 2000 (31%)
1st Place: 2002 (44%)

I don’t think anyone is shocked and this, just look at some of the matches on this card; Angle/Mysterio, Benoit/Van Dam, Eddie/Edge, Rock/Brock and Shawn/Triple H. If Flair and Jericho had of delivered, I would have called this better than Mania X-Seven as this arguably the second greatest pay-per-view of the decade. Tremendous show.

And that almost concludes the Summerslam Awards, but first… next week we’ll compare the award winners to their counterparts of 2007. Will Orton/Cena be better than TLC 1? I doubt it, but the Divas Battle Royal might take worst match.

Reader Feedback

This comes from Jeff Osmond who I believe is not related to Donny;

Hi there. I voted for Drowning Pool’s Bodies but I would have voted for AC/DC’S Highway to Hell from SS ’98. They used to play that song when hyping undertaker vs. Stone cold. Not sure if it was the official theme for that ppv though. Keep up the great work.

Jeff
NL, Canada

You mean this one?

Absolute quality video. Thanks for the feedback, Jeff.

Dominick aka Mr. Tuesday Night sent this in;

Hey. I e-mailed you after Khali won the title but it might not have gotten to you and then I went on vacation to Montauk so I’ll add that and the rest of this stuff.

First up we have my Khali e-mail.

WEEKS AGO

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

It’s a sad day in the world of wrestling. The Great Khali is the World Heavyweight Champion. It could have been Kane, Matt Hardy, Ric Flair, Batista, Rey Mysterio, Finlay, even King Leonites even though he’s dead. I was actually starting to really enjoy SmackDown! the Edge Mardi Gras thing was great and Edge was a great champion. I can’t believe it. Khali. 7 feet of crap. What did we do to deserve this. No wrestling ability no mic skills no nothing. It just gets me mad. It could have been anyone besides him. I would have liked Michael Cole better. I just think of all the guys who deserved the title and never got it but Khali does. HE IS OFFICIALLY THE #1 WORST WORLD CHAMPION OF ALL TIME. TRY AND FIND A WORSE TITLE HOLDER. I was actually more of a fan to WWE then TNA but now I’m just done with SmackDown! I am not going to watch SmackDown! until the title is off of Khali. If Lashley wins the Championship I’m done with WWE. DAMN KHALI, DAMN THE WWE, AND DAMN THE HUCB TITLE.

Yes but I have to say that I really haven’t been watching SM since so I don’t know how his reign is going.

And now it’s time for Fact or Fiction you vs. ME.

1. Bringing Goldberg in wasn’t a good move in the first place.

Fiction. Goldberg was one of the few people who had never worked for WWE but was still a big name from his WCW days, and to a certain extent was a draw. There were many potential dream matches with the likes of Rock, Triple H, Michaels, Flair, Jericho, Lesnar, Angle, Taker etc. As long as WWE booked him right they would easily cover the costs of bringing him in.

Fiction. Agreed. Goldberg was a big name and the dream matches that could be created would help PPV buys.

2. Allowing Goldberg to limit the number of dates he worked was a mistake.

Fact. I think there could have been better ways of getting Bill to sign, even if it meant throwing more money his way. Many of Goldberg’s rivalries (the feud with Lesnar being the main one) suffered because he could only show up a certain number of times or the E would have to pay him a bonus per extra appearance. If you have a legend on a one year, contract you should aim to get the most out of him that is possible.

Fact. Again I agree. If he wasn’t going to work when they wanted him to then they should have renegotiated will a new deal. His run could have been a hell of a lot better.

3. WWE should never have consider putting the title on Goldberg.

Fact. This is for reasons of the aforementioned detail in his contract, amongst others. If you put the belt on him, fans expect to see him on every show and that takes up many of those precious dates Goldberg could work. In addition, Goldberg’s feuds wouldn’t need to revolve around the title to draw, as is evident from the buyrate Backlash drew when he fought The Rock.

Fiction. For a few reasons. Goldberg was over and HHH had tremendous heat. The fans were begging for the someone to come along and take that title from him. So Goldberg taking the title would look to be a good idea. Also remember at this time their had only been two other World Heavyweight Champions (Michaels and HHH) so Goldberg would give a little bit more credibility to the title.

—SWITCH~!—(sorta)

4. If WWE really wanted the title on Goldberg, Unforgiven was the right time to do it.

Fact. Going into SummerSlam the Goldberg vs. HHH fued wasn’t that hot but after Goldberg ran through everyone in the EC looked to win but then ending up getting screwed and beat down by Evolution added more to the fued and made the fans even more anxious to see Goldberg kick the games ass and take the title. The addition of career vs title made the match even more anticipated

Fiction. Summerslam was the right time to do it, without a doubt. The fans’ response to Goldberg had hardly been warm since he arrived and destroyed the beloved Rock, but going into Summerslam his popularity was way up, Triple H’s heat was way up, and the fans wanted to see it. While they didn’t completely kill off all momentum he had, it didn’t add a lot to the angle other than the potential of more buys for Unforgiven. Additionally, had Goldberg won at Summerslam, he could have dropped the title quicker and not had a 4 month feud with Triple H and fought other superstars.

5. The Summerslam Screwjob was well done.

Fact. Yes. You pretty much explained alll of it.

Fact. The way Flair slid the hammer into The Game was clever. The way Goldberg got nailed in mid-air looked tremendous and the post-match beat down was very good and really kicked the feud into another gear. The only complaint I could bring up is that all it took is one hammer shot to beat Goldberg, but the delivery was swank enough for me to look past that. Good stuff all round as far as I’m concerned.

6. Goldberg was badly utilized in WWE.

Fiction. In the one year he was there he had a good run with many “Dream Matches” Goldberg vs Rock, Jericho, Flair, Michaels, HHH, and Lesnar. None of his fued were ever horrible, he had a few good matches, a pretty good title run, and WWE got more PPv buys.

Fiction. But only just. You could argue that because he was only on a one-year contract, he shouldn’t have been put over as many people as he was, but Rock was leaving, Jericho wasn’t really a main eventer, Flair was old even then, Triple H eventually got his win back and Lesnar was on his way out, so no one really suffered at the hands of Goldberg. They managed to get a fair few “dream matches” out of him and pop a few buyrates so all in all I think it was a job well done for the E and Goldberg.

The two finish at something to something else. Moving on.

Here were my picks for the Summerslam awards.

St. Anger
Shane McMahon takes a drop from the tron
Angle vs. Mysterio
HHH vs. The Rock vs. Angle
Michaels vs. HHH
Show vs. Sabu
Edge
TLC I
2000

THE PPV PUMP UP

SummerSlam

Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero

While I think this feud should have ended a long time ago this should be a good match as long as they get the time they need.

Winner: Rey Mysterio

World Heavyweight Title Match
The Great Khali vs. Batista

The Time to Make a Sandwich Match.

Winner: Batista

King of Kings Match
King Booker vs. Triple H

This should be a great match and I love the build up to this except that HHH didn’t show up on Raw or SNME to confront Booker. Unless he did and the internet was wrong when they said he wouldn’t show up.

Winner: The King of Kings, The Game, The Cerebral Assassin? Triple H

ECW World Title Match
John Morrison vs. CM Punk

This match should be pretty good. I think Punk should get the win here so him and Punk can have one more match a Unforgivin and then Punk can get into a new feud with someone else like Burke, Cor Von, or from the looks of things Big Daddy V.

Winner: CM Punk

WWE Championship Match
John Cena vs. Randy Orton

Man I have not been this pumped for a match in a long time. I have been waiting for this match for so long. Randy has been on a roll lately and him and Cena should have a good match. Cena would probably be a better bet but I’m really hoping for a Orton win.

Winner: Randy Orton

So this years SummerSlam looks great so far. But I’ll still have to wait for the rest of the matches to be announced.

The Pay View Re View

Hard Justice

Oh God was this bad if my friend didn’t buy this for me I would be angry with my self.

The Guru and Black Machismo vs. XXX vs. The MCMG: ***
Raven vs. Kaz: **
Bar Room Brawl: **
LAX vs. VKM: BLAH
Humiliation Match: *
Harris vs. Black Reign: ?*
Steiners vs. Team 3D: **
Doomsday Chamber of Blood: **
Joe vs. Angle: ***

BLAH, BLAH, and BLAH!!! VKM SUCK! BLACK GOLDUST SUCKS! THE STIPULATION TO THE HUMILIATION MATCH WASN’T FULFILLED! TEST SUCKS! AND JOE VS. ANGLE DID NOT NEED THE SOAP OPERA STORYLINE! AND DAMN IT TNA HAS BECOME THE REJECTS OF WWE’S PLACE! TEST AND BLACK GOLDUST HAVE COME INA AND NOW THE OTHER GUYS ARE GOING TO BE EITHER PUSHED DOWN OR RELEASED! TNA IS ON THE ROAD TO DESTRUCTION! HORRIBLE!

Next.

So Raw and ECW have received new General Managers. Regal has done good in a manager role in the past plus their hasn’t been a GM in nearly 2 years. I’m so happy to see AAE back on TV and as GM of ECW. Good choices by WWE.

-Mistaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Tuesday Night……………………………………………………………………………….Tuesday Night DoM

Well I agree with pretty much everything you have to say here. Khali’s reign isn’t going too well, for the record but it’s not the complete disaster it could be. Hard Justice was a terrible show as I’ve mentioned earlier and yet TNA’s TV ratings remain steady. I’m starting to really not care about them anymore which is sad because they’ve been a great company at times.

Taking It Home

Who knows what we’ll see here next week, not me that’s for sure. Obviously there’ll be another Screwjob for us to analysis and I’ll also have my thoughts on Summerslam as well as comparing the show to our Award winners. So just make sure you’re here, ok?
