Ask 411 Wrestling 09.05.07: Flair & Titles, Steamboat Turning Purple, Dusty on Andre and More!

Including a special look at the life and times of Mr. X!
It's time to Ask 411 Wrestling! I'm Steve Cook, and I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend! Mine had mixed results, but things could have gone worse. It's a pity that I have to go back to work today, but at least I'm able to provide you guys with a column before then.
You can thank Christi Csonka for the new banner that adorns this fine column this week and probably every week in the future until I get fired. I think it's pretty snazzy myself. Speaking of snazzy, I hope everybody checked out the Cook-Thinks Saturday Spectacular over the weekend. I probably won't do wrestling news columns on a regular basis ever again, but it was fun to get back on the saddle for one time only. Especially since the news was breaking like crazy last weekend. Good times.
33 e-mails are sitting in the in-box. Some will get answered next week…some will continue to collect dust. You just never know.
Comments, Corrections & other "C" Words
You answered a question this week about why Cornette hates Heyman so much, and said one of the two main reasons was Heyman telling the Gangstas to leave Smoky Mountain early. I watched a shoot interview where Cornette also says the Gangstas cut all these promos for Heyman saying how Cornette ripped them off etc., and when he called them on it, they sheepishly said it was all kayfabe, to which Cornette replied that when you're kayfabing, you're kinda supposed to tell the guy you're kayfabing with. I think I learned more wrestling lore from that one shoot interview than any other video I've seen.
On another subject, is there any truth to the rumour Vince is under a lot of pressure from fans to bring back the Western States Heritage Title? Also, what's happening with the return of Buck Zumhofe? I heard they're going to bring him in for the Royal Rumble and build up to a Wrestlemania spot. Okay, now I'm kidding. – Chris in Ottawa
I'm cool with them bringing back the WSHT as long as it doesn't coincide with a Larry Zbyszko return.
I love your column and it's always a good read. I
figured I'd help you out with the question regarding
the ECW Hardcore History DVD. I believe the big man
he is speaking about is named Kareem and it was his
first ECW appearance. Quite the first impression as
he snapped his ankle in half and you can hear the
snap!
Here's the clip of it:
http://www.wrestlinggonewrong.com/video/kareem_ankle_break.html - Jim C.
I was just reading your column and I saw that ECW question about the guy that broke his leg. If it is who I am thinking about his name is Kareem. Don't know if that was his gimmick name(I think it was) He was training with ECW and I THINK that was his first and only match. The only reason I know of him is b/c he used to work at an Orange Julius at the mall I used to go to when I was younger. I saw his ECW hat and tried to strike up a conversation with him and he treated like an asshole.(Which I wasn't used to b/c back then if you saw someone with any type of ECW stuff, you shared a common bond and it was relatively easy to talk to them...you knew they knew there wrestling and could probably have a great conversation. It was a different time where fans shared a common bond, especially in the Philly area) After that he was done, we used to go to the arcade and get all kinds of stuff and dump it over the rail onto him and it never got old! Hope that helped… - Steve
The fat guy on the ECW DVD that snapped his leg like a twig was one of The Headhunters (fat identical twins who did rare ECW shows and were managed by Damien Kane). I believe it was in a match against The Sandman and 2 Cold Scorpio. They also had a few brawls with The Gangstas and The Bruise Brothers while they were there. Most of there work was in IWA Japan (the same company that had the King of the Death Match tourney that Mick Foley won). – Jeremy
Kareem 2, Headhunter 1. We'll go with Kareem unless we get more Headhunter votes. I'm not sure I can support throwing stuff at Orange Julius employees, especially since I haven't seen one of those places in over a decade.
In your latest Ask411 Wrestling column, you had a guy
from Malaysia ask why some countries have their
wrestling programs delayed by a couple of weeks. I
live in Taiwan, and we get all the WWE programs about
2 weeks late, and TNA used to be about 4-6 weeks late,
but I think it's only 1 or 2 weeks late now.
As to why, I don't have a clear answer, but I've
noticed that the broadcasts here have been edited,
mostly for extreme violence. Any scene with major
juice is in black and white, while any scene with
extreme violence (like hitting someone with a chair)
or man-on-woman violence, the video gets frozen before
the offending action while the audio continues, then
jumps and picks up afterward. So I think the simple
answer is that they have to wait for the censors to do
their work.
In addition, the shows here are shown with commentary
overdubbed by local sports broadcasters, guys who seem
to have a pretty good knowledge of the sport and the
characters. They've name-checked TNA and ROH in the
past, so these guys probably try to watch the show,
then do research and only then try and do the
commentary. – Bill
Announcers doing research? Blasphemy!
Just an update on Dallas Hart, Lance Storm posted a while back that Dallas had left the training school because he didn't have the necessary time to commit to it full time. So there goes that wish unfortunately. – Josh
My fantasy football jobber Goob told me he heard something along these lines as well. That's too bad, but considering the Hart family history with wrestling lately, maybe it's a good thing he's not getting involved in it.
I read your column regularly. That being said, you tend to use the same expressions over and over. That being said, it gets a little monotonous. That being said, maybe you should consult a thesaurus. That being said, it would greatly improve your column. That being said, I hope you take my advice. - Bobby
That is a possibility. I don't write this column like a traditional wrestling column…I look at the questions and then I answer them. I don't keep track of what phrases I use while answering other questions. That being said, you may be on to something.
Questions!
I hear so many things about Smoky Mountain Wrestling and the list of talent that has gone through there, is there any plans or is it even possible for there to b a SMW DVD of the history or best matches? that would be an interesting subject for a DVD (much like the WCCW and AWA DVDS) – Pete M.
SMW footage is owned by World Wrestling Entertainment. The main thing that I think would keep an SMW history DVD from happening is a lack of Jim Cornette in WWE. If you're going to do SMW any justice with a documentary, Cornette has to be involved because it was his baby. Until that happens (and there's no guarantee that will happen), the best way I can think of for you to get some SMW action is to check out three home releases from Kit Parker Films, "Before They Were Famous", "Blood, Brawls & Grudges", and "Night of the Legends". Each video is full of SMW action, and has alternate commentary provided by Cornette & Dave Meltzer. The alternate commentary is worth the price of the DVD alone, there's lots of informative stuff there.
I've noticed abnormal improvements in Boogeyman's ring presence the past few weeks. He seems more confident, more skilled. I'm a fan of his regardless of whether he's a good wrestler or not, but is it possible that Marty Wright is no longer the man behind the face paint? Could we be seeing a different wrestler portraying Boogeyman recently, such as OVW's Charles Evans? He matches Wright's build and overall look. – Theo1923
I'd say that is highly unlikely. I looked at some pictures of Boogey over the years on WWE.com, and he looks pretty much the same throughout his tenure except for a facepaint change here and there. And having seen Evans wrestle some, his style doesn't really remind me of the Boogeyman. I'm not a big fan of Boogey's, but I'll give the man credit for sticking around a lot longer than I thought he would.
Hawk has four questions. What a rush!
1. My best friend B loves Madusa. And he has a pic of Madusa getting BBQ sauce poured on her by Oklahoma a.k.a. Ed Ferrera from a wcw event, which I believe looks like Thunder.
What event was it and is there any chance that I can get a video of Madusa getting that poured on her? I cant find one on Youtube.
This incident took place on the January 12, 2000 edition of Thunder, here's a description from owow.com…
Oklahoma and Madusa fought outside the ring. Once inside, Oklahoma took out the BBQ sauce that he had taped to his leg. Madusa hit him low and delivered a suplex. One rip later and Oklahoma was down to his... boxers (thank God!). After the bell, Oklahoma ripped Madusa's dress open and poured BBQ sauce down the front of her.
I could not find a video of this on the Internets.
2. I was reading about the Hart Foundation 2.0 and I'm stoked as all hell. But they said that Harry Smith, Nattie Neidhart, and Teddy Hart will be the 3 involved with it, excluding T.J. Wilson. I thought that T.J. was just like family with the Harts. Why would they exclude him? He and Harry have phenomonal chemistry as a Tag Team and he would be an amazing addition to HF 2.0. And also, do you think Bret AND Anvil will both be involved with them?
I'm guessing they don't want the faction to be all that big. And while T.J. might be like family, technically he isn't family. Jim Neidhart is reportedly down with doing anything they would want, he could end up appearing whether Bret does or not. Bret has met with WWE to discuss it, but I haven't seen the results of those talks.
3. I read that TNA was thinking about starting up an X Division Tag Team division. What happened to that idea? Why would they do that when the should stop giving the X Division title to dicks like Angle and bigger guys and focus more on the smaller guys, like Jay Lethal, Sonjay, Elix, Sensi, and others. Do you think that they should make a secondary title similar to the Untied States and Intercontinental? Wouldnt that be better sense they are about to go to two hours?
I think this was one of those ideas that got floated in a TNA booking meeting, but eventually got shelved because there were no good ideas for it. Really, there's no reason to have two different tag team titles in TNA, and I don't think there's a reason to add any more titles. I always say that the answer to improving title scenes isn't making up more titles, it's making the titles you already have mean something. Hopefully they have plans to do just that.
4. I watch ECW on Sci-Fi just because of the Originals. But the wwe has just made them look like jobbers, with Tommy losing every week to Kevin "Mordeci" Thorn and Balls losin just because they think he sucks, when he is actually sweet! If and I mean IF they ever do get 2 hrs, do you think that they would bring the TV Title back?
It can't be ruled out. I have said from the beginning that ECW doesn't need any more titles as long as they are a one hour show with a limited roster, and I continue to say that. Should they gain more airtime and build up their roster, I reserve the right to change my mind on the issue.
As of now the plan is to have Ric Flair win the title at WM 24 and then retire, Who do you think he will fight? – Jared
Do you think the WWE should let Ric Flair win the big gold belt and retire with the belt (as in the last to hold that design of the World Title) as his last match? i think so myself. It would be to my knowledge as the first time this would happen if it does for any wrestler to go out on top AND take HIS belt with him. I just think that since Flair has been the best there is in his time of the last "kayfabe" era of wrestlers , he should be allowed the honor of being the last man to hold the big gold as a World Champion. I really think it would go over well with most of the fans. Maybey a Hunter as World Champ vs Flair at the next Wrestlemania!??!! Flair comming out on top in his last match ever! it would be so emotional and of the upmost respect paid to the last true legend IMO. Could you do a poll on this? Lets get things moving on this matter. Ric Flair deserves it. thanks you so much - Mitchell Q.
I thought I would lump these two questions together because they basically cover the same subject. I don't know that Flair winning the title at WM 24 is planned or not, I haven't seen anybody reporting that. I've given my take on this in the column before…basically I don't think that Flair winning the title at this point in his career is necessary. It reminds me of when Verne Gagne won the AWA title in 1981 for no reason other than to go out on top. It made Nick Bockwinkel look like a doofus for losing to the old dude, and they just gave the title right back to Bockwinkel anyway. It didn't get anybody over and didn't do much for business.
But Mitchell wants a poll, and I am a man of the people. I am also new at making polls on websites, so hopefully this will work…
Of course, this is all assuming that Flair stays with the company until WM 24...
Hey Steve,
I heard this rumor about you and Traci Brooks? Any truth to that? – Patrick
The rumor I started? Considering that I can't even get a regular girl to go out with me, the odds of me landing a girl that appears regularly on television are pretty slim. Women come into my life…eventually they decide that I'm not all that great to be around, and then they leave. Not that I'm bitter or anything.
But that shouldn't stop people from starting rumors. If Chris Hyatte can have a rumored relationship with Trish Stratus, why can't I have one with Traci Brooks? I mean, besides the obvious…
I watched the rise and fall of ECW not to long ago and Paul Heyman pretty much says TNN killed ECW but wasn't the real reason ECW died was because he wasn't paying his wrestlers. I know TNN did sign WW but they would produce more money so what's your opinion? – Brandon
ECW died for a multitude of reasons that Paul Heyman seems to be in denial of. His poor business skills and lack of funds had a lot more to do with it than TNN did, though the deal with them was pretty crappy and WWF taking their spot didn't help matters either. Listen to what the other people at the end of the DVD say about why ECW died, and you'll get your answers.
One of your readers asked about Umaga's Samoa tattoo, and you mentioned Samoans being very proud of their heritage. Got me thinking. Ever hear anything about Yokozuna, a Samoan himself, being upset about playing a Japanese guy? Off hand, I can't think of any other Samoans whose character wasn't Samoan. Are there any? – Jones
I don't think Yoko had any problems with it, and if he had some at first, they likely went away when he got pushed into the main event and held the WWF title for the better part of a year.
The closest thing I can think of to the second part of your question is Deuce, who was born in the Fiji Islands but portrays a 1950s greaser on television. I just don't think there were many greasers in Fiji.
TheMidnightPunk has two questions this week…
what is zach gallon (i know i spelled it wrong) up to now a days? remember the dude with one leg?
Zach Gowen is working the Michigan indy scene and has a MySpace. I'm not a grammar nazi or anything, but I gotta admit that "Zach Gallon" is pretty hilarious.
for months i've been looking for a picture of the tattoo lita has inside her bottom lip. it says "punk". thanx. i'll save the rest of my questions for next time!
I've only seen one "picture" of this tattoo on the Internet, and it was a really bad one that didn't really show it. I know I've seen a picture in a magazine or something, but I couldn't tell you where. So I'll leave this question to the readers.
I remember watching Superstars as a kid and watching the Randy Savage/Ricky Steamboat feud and during that feud, Savage came off the top rope with the ring bell across Steamboat's throat. Now I was maybe 8 when I saw this but I distinctly remember Ricky's face turing purple as he was carted to the back. Was that just a wonderful sell job by Steamboat or was he hurt legit? – Cory
A wonderful sell job. You don't see enough people turning purple just to get something over, do you?
Bobby D. has three questions…
1. I heard that in Wrestlemania 13, (Sid vs. Undertaker), when Sid went to choke slam the Undertaker, Undertaker crapped his pants. Just wanted to know if its true or not, just to shut my co-worker up.
I think you're mixing up urban legends here…one of the most popular stories that didn't actually happen involved Sid crapping his pants at WrestleMania 13. Undertaker has said in an interview that Sid crapped his pants during one of their matches, but I've seen no proof that it took place at WM 13. I don't know of any stories concerning Undertaker crapping his pants, but it'd be a lot easier for him to hide it than it would be for most guys.
There are lots of fun Sid stories. He's great.
2. I also Heard that soon there was going to be a New Nation of Domination lead by Ron Simmons (not to wrestle, but to take lead) not sure of who else was going to be in the group. But now they have D'lo in dark matches for WWE. Plus they could have them feud w/ the New Hart Foundation (if their signed) is that a possibility? – Wladimir
I believe that is nothing more than a rumor, but it wouldn't surprise me if they eventually built up to something with Simmons since he's on TV almost every week. It'd be cool to see a D-Lo comeback…I reckon you could throw Mark Henry in there and they could do tag team matches with the Foundation. But that is purely speculation and not based on anything resembling facts. To answer your question, sure it's a possibility.
There was a match in 1998 or 1999 in WCW where Hall and Nash fought against 2 or 3 "pornstars" They acted like it was the toughest match of there life and was hilarious. Do you have any clue what date that was and where I could find a video?
I remember this match taking place. I can't remember when it happened, and I couldn't find an account of it on the Internet. Readers?
Any idea what the WWE is up to in regards to ECW? It seems like they are having a hard time choosing a theme song for the brand… or? Could it possibly be that ECW's theme song is going to be no theme song? I don't know, I hope the latter isn't the case; I think more in particular I am a bit of a fan of the Marilyn Manson theme songs they have used (thinking Smackdown! here). Regardless, I think it would set the tone if they would just stick with one. – John
I presume they will pick a regular theme song at some point. I'm glad they changed it, because "Bodies" is soooooooooooooooooooo played out. Hell, it was played out six years ago.
OK I remember at one point and time that WCW had a stable called the M.I.A (Misfits In Action) and it consisted of a military theme, but the only person I can remember is Sargent AWOL, and can't seem to recall any of the others so I was wondering if you could help me. – Dan Hamilton
The members of the Misfits In Action were as follows:
General Rection (Hugh Morrus)
Corporal Cajun (Chavo Guerrero)
Lieutenant Loco (Lash LeRoux)
Major Stash (Van Hammer)
Major Gunns (Tylene Buck)
Also somewhat connected to the group was G.I. Bro, who's better known these days as King Booker. He wasn't actually part of the group because he was getting a push.
why did the WWE fire Rosey for being too fat, yet the
other guy in 3 minute warning gets to be Umaga? I
mean, I couldnt tell the guys in 3MW apart anyway...so
why rehire Jamal when they couldve just repackaged
Rosey. Arent they the same size? and if they can fire
a guy for being too fat, how does Viscera/Mabel/Big
Daddy V still have a job? – Bryan Jones
I don't think WWE just fired Rosey because he was fat…it was likely an excuse Rosey used to help get himself on that celebrity fit club type show he appeared on WWE has denied the allegations, and Rosey has appeared in some dark matches lately. As for why they brought back Jamal to play Umaga instead of repackaging Rosey, Jamal stepped up his game while he was over in Japan and impressed WWE brass. I don't know that Rosey would have had the same type of success with the Umaga gimmick that Jamal has. For what it's worth, Umaga is listed at 348 pounds while Rosey is listed at 386 pounds on his TV show.
Steve Dicker was reading 411 before some of you were alive! Well, I don't know that I have any readers that were born before 97, but he has three questions anyway…
As wrestling fans I know we're supposed to have short memories, but why the hell on RAW this week were they billing Snitsky as undefeated? Both JR and Vince McMahon said it on the show. Snitsky has lost dozens of matches (just ask Kane). Just because he dropped "Gene" and was taken off TV for a few months, does that make him undefeated now? Snitsky was not repackaged with a new gimmick (ie, Jamal/Umaga, Johnny Nitro/John Morrison). He simply now goes by his last name only. Using this logic, could Batista start going by "Dave" again and also claim to be undefeated? Is Viscera/Big Daddy V now undefeated because he no longer wrestles in pyjamas?
Snitsky was billed as undefeated because…they're idiots? That's the best explanation I've got. He might not have a new gimmick, but he has lost all of his hair and dyed his teeth brown. So he's got that going for him. I guess they were trying to make people think that Snitsky would be a threat to John Cena…but really, the only people who haven't seen him lose a match either don't watch WWE or started watching a month ago.
Also, when Ric Flair won the 1992 Royal Rumble, he was declared the "Undisputed WWF Heavyweight Champion". Why then, a decade later, did the WWE bill Chris Jericho as its FIRST undisputed champion? Flair and Jericho had several matches both before and after Jericho's run as champion, yet this never came up as part of any angle. Are we just supposed to forget this as well? Short memories aside, this would have been a great way to push Jericho, even if Flair won the bulk of their WWE matches.
That was more an issue of semantics. There was a dispute over the title in 92 because Hulk Hogan & Undertaker had exchanged the title in two matches that both had outside factors determining the outcome. Ric Flair was also disputing it because that's the kind of guy he was, and since he never lost the NWA title before leaving WCW, he claimed that he was the Real World Heavyweight Champion. It wasn't like Jericho's victory that unified the WWF & the WCW titles. I'll excuse them for this one…nine years is an eternity in the wrestling business.
Finally, what are the chances of Triple H being Vince's bastard kid? Think about it. For entertainment purposes, the McMahons have often been referred to as America's most dysfunctional family. Wouldn't it be hilarious if Vince's daughter was married to his son? Not only would HHH and Stephanie be husband and wife, they would also be half brother & sister! I can hear the Cletus & Brandine jokes now. – Steve Dicker from New Foundland, 411 since April 97.
The only problem with that idea is the fact that Triple H & Stephanie McMahon are not married. At least, not on television. :)
John Bryant has a series of questions…
More CM Punk questions. if CM Punk were to of been drafted off of ECW. I personally believe Smackdown would of been the better show for him given his size and talent in the ring. Do you agree?
Sure. That way I'd never have to see him wrestle. BONG.
another CMP question: CM Punk wasn't the first American Wrestler to borrow a move from the Puro world but are you surprised that in a company that has toned down the number of risk-taking moves their wrestlers do, that they are allowing one of there wrestlers to use the Go 2 Sleep?
The G2S isn't really that dangerous if you know how to work it. To Punk's credit, I haven't seen him absolutely murder anybody with it yet. It's much less dangerous than other Japanese moves where guys get dropped on their heads and break their necks. It doesn't surprise me that they would let him use it.
finally my last question, Do you see Marcus Cor Von making it big on ECW or does he need to be traded to Smackdown! to replenish their Muscular yet athletic yet good on the mic slot they'll lose when Mark Henry retires and leaves after Unforgiven?
do you see Mark Henry going to TNA?
I've read that Henry re-signed with WWE, so this will no longer be an issue. As for Marcus, I'm going to have to wait until he comes back before judging whether he can make it big in ECW or not. He was picking up some momentum before he disappeared, but it remains to be seen if he can pick up the ball and run with it.
Francisco has seven questions…..
Ron Simmons: DAMN!
What he said.
1) I heard Triple H had alot to do with Perry Saturn
not really being used much during his WWE run, of all
of the Radicalz he gained the least amount of exposure
two of them became world champs, Dean had that sweet
Bond gimmick, but all that Perry had was Moppy. The
rumor is that The Eliminators were trained along with
Chyna and Trips, and Perry actually had a relationship
with Chyna before Trips, thus Helmsly wasn't too fond
of Saturn and had alot to do with him being held back.
Saturn apparently dated Chyna back in the day, but I don't know if that had anything to do with his lack of success in the WWF. I think it's a pretty safe argument to make that out of the four Radicalz, Saturn was the weakest as far as work went. Some would say that he might have had the most personality and could have been the most unique character, but he never really got the chance to show that in a good way. I can't rule out the fact that H might have had an axe to grind with Saturn, but I don't think that was the one thing that held him back.
2) Plain and simple, why was Mercury so abruptly cut.
Joey Mercury violated the Wellness policy on at least two occasions, and apparently showed up at a Raw in no shape to perform. He was not able to clean up his act, so WWE let him go. He seems to be doing better now since he's been rehired by OVW as a trainer.
3) Seeing to the future who do you think will run the
WWE once Vince passes due to a Limo explosion? Do you
think any of Vince's offspring have what it takes or
that special something that Vince had early on?
As far as what you see on TV goes, I think Vince's influence will be replaced by a combination of Triple H & Stephanie McMahon. Like him or not, H really has a mind for wrestling and how the business works…and, well, it's kinda hard to get rid of Stephanie. I see Shane filling the role of Linda, since he's been more involved in the actual business aspect of the company than the creative side. I don't think any of them has that special something that Vince had to launch the WWF to heights nobody thought it could reach, but they should be able to keep the business afloat and successful. I could be completely wrong, but I don't think it'll be Doomsday for WWE when Vince finally passes the torch.
4) What do you think ROH's future will be like, or how
long do you think they can last?
If ROH stays the course, I don't see why they can't stay around for years to come. I don't think they'll ever emerge as competition for WWE, but they can be the biggest independent promotion for a long time if they don't make any colossal mistakes. This being pro wrestling, a colossal mistake may be right around the corner. But I choose to be optimistic about ROH's future, and I'll even go so far as to say that they'll still be around five years from now and doing good business.
5) What happened to Paul Heyman, and where is he? Is
he finished with pro wrestling, I think he could be
the catapult to lauch TNA to new heights, that and
Russo leaving.
Heyman currently sits at home and does nothing but get paid by WWE. It's good work if you can get it. I don't know if he has any interest in going to TNA, but if his previous statements to media concerning TNA are any indication, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it.
6) Why is Val Venus still around?
He might inherit Simon Dean's old position as director of the developmental promotions. Val's a pretty decent worker that doesn't piss people off, so WWE likes having him around. Granted, they could use him better, but he's pretty good in his role as "guy who loses a lot to new guys".
7) Finally why do big crappy wrestlers (Viscera,
Snitsky, Khali, Mark Henry, Chris Masters, Murdoch,
Cade etc.) get pushes over actual talented wrestlers
(William Regal, Finlay, Dave Taylor, Stevie Richards,
Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas, Kendrick, London,
Super Crazy, Marcus "Monty Brown" Corvon etc.) This
has been going on since the Road Warriors debuted,
shouldn't it of ended by now? – Francisco
I think you're kinda pushing it when you lump Monty in with those guys. He can be decent in the ring when working with the right opponent, but his strength is his charisma. And I wouldn't consider Trevor Murdoch big (compared to the other people on the list) or crappy. Lance Cade's pretty good too. WWE has always been the Land of the Giants, and that's how it's going to stay as long as Vince is still in charge. As for why it is that way…the theory is that people want to see larger than life figures wrestling each other and would rather pay to see that than pay to see two average guys fighting each other. You can see that out on the street corners of some cities every day for free. I'd rather watch London & Kendrick than Snitsky or Khali every day of the week and twice on Sunday, but I can see why WWE wants to feature those two because you just don't see people walking down the street at 7'3 every day. London & Kendrick look like a couple of Hot Topic employees. That's why they don't get the main event spots.
Clyde H. Hedgcoth, Jr has two questions…
In Dusty Rhodes autobiography, he mentions that Andre was a very good, nice guy until near the end of his life, when he became, as Rhodes put it, "an a**hole."
Question 1 is (even though Andre and Dusty are two of my favorite wrestlers after Mick Foley): Was Andre a butthole near the end of his life, or do you feel that might of been just Dusty's take on the whole situation?
I didn't know Andre very well. I can see a possibility that Andre got bitter as he got older, over the fact that he knew he didn't have very much time left, and his disease made it impossible for him to live an ordinary life. Why do you think he drank so much? I don't know whether Dusty is telling the truth or not, but I wouldn't immediately dismiss it as lies.
Question 2 is: Did Mick Foley ever really eat a worm on WWE/WCW/ECW programming?
He told a story about eating a worm, but I don't remember him actually eating one on camera. The Boogeyman wasn't around yet.
So, I recently picked up WWE 24/7, a great idea on my part. So far way worth the 8 bucks a month. Anyway, they currently have a Boston Garden show up from 10/12/85. The opening match has King Tonga taking on Mr. X. Now, his body looked familiar, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out who Mr. X was. And seeing as I was about 8 months old at the time of the show, I don't remember anything else with Mr. X. Any ideas? – Zack Macomber
WrestleCrap has featured an article on this fellow in the past, but it's not currently up on their website. The role of Mr. X was played by none other than Danny Davis, who would go on to infamy as an evil referee that cost Tito Santana & the British Bulldogs championship matches in 1986-87. We should have seen it coming, because you just can't trust a man that would wear a mask to hide his identity.
Well, that's all we have time for this week. Send your feedback, questions, additions and porn to scook411@hotmail.com…until next time, have a nice day!
