Important! Read!
We are back with another week of the Triple Threat. Lets stop talking and get to the column (Mainly because I have to be at work in five minutes) Enjoy!
Topic #1 WWE's Unforgiven is this Sunday, what are your thoughts on the card?
David Martell: I have to say, this PPV has a solid card. If done right, this could be one of the better PPVs of the year. I am always up for another Randy Orton vs. Cena match but I seriously doubt Orton is going to win. If they wanted Orton to win the belt he would of probably won at Summerslam. The Carlito vs. HHH match could be decent but Carlito is just in the way of HHH's course to the title. At least HHH is starting at the midcard before he gets to the main event. The triple threat match with Kahli, Batista and Rey is going to be horrible but I think we might get a new champion out of it. I wouldn't be surprised if Rey ends up winning because of Batista. CM Punk vs. Burke could be great but WWE seems to never give ECW title matches time so I expect it to only go about ten minutes and end before it climaxes. London and Kendrick vs. the rednecks could be really great if given time and I expect London and Kendrick to get the win here. I like the idea of Matt Hardy and MVP being the tag champs but I think they are going to lose the titles to continue their storyline which, by the way, is an awesome storyline in my book. Undertaker will make his return which means his match is already won. I hope Beth Phoenix wins her match because she is a great women's wrestler and maybe she could make the women's title worth something.
Alex Mattis: I hope the next time y'all read this column Randall K. Orton is the new world champ. Cena and Orton should put on another great match. This time expect less actual wrestling and more striking, seeing as how now the feud is based on hate. The Batista-Khali-Rey match should be an absolute joke. The Trip's-Carlito match should be a great way to bury Carlito. UnderTaker Vs. Mark Henry? Wasn't this terrible two years ago? Expect it to be worse. Cade-Murdoch Vs. Londerick should be solid as should the ECW title match. See kids, winners don't do drugs. I hope Beth Phoenix wins the women's title so an actual women's wrestler would be champ. Anything I left out I obviously don't care about it. Should be better that SummerSlam... but that's saying nothing.
Zach Brown: Unforgiven…hmm…well this PPV actually does look pretty solid besides a few hiccups. The women's match actually looks watchable this time around because Beth Phoenix looks like she's about to tear someone's head off. The two tag team matches look like they could be decent as well, but yeah, Deuce and Domino suck ass. Triple H vs. Carlito should be good, but I don't like seeing Carlito getting buried by having a program with Hunter. Besides, the stipulation is just retarded. I'm really glad that The Undertaker is coming back, but I HATE Mark Henry. I don't know why WWE loves shoving this match down our throats, but they still do it every once in a while. CM Punk vs. Elijah Burke could really be the sleeper hit of the night, and I'm really looking forward to it. Cena vs. Orton was a great match at Summerslam, but yeah, I'm dying for Orton to win the belt. But everyone knows that he just won't. Cena will retain AGAIN, and all the real wrestling fans will get yet another slap in the face. Oh and it gets even better! Are you ready to see the BEST MATCH IN WWE HISTORY!? Oh I bet you are, because the WWE is giving us such a TREAT with The Great Khali vs. Batista vs. Rey Mysterio. Oh my goodness I almost creamed myself. It's won't be a four star match, and not even a five star match. It will be the world's first SIX STAR MATCH. Yeah…the match is going to suck ass.
Topic #2 The Sandman got the axe this week, what are your thoughts on this shocking revelation?
David Martell: I am not surprised he got fired but I am surprised that he lasted that long in the E. I have to say I did enjoy his matches because of how horrible he was. He made every match hilarious. I wish him the best of luck but this comes as no surprise to me.
Alex Mattis: Well this should come as a surprise because the E never treated Hak seriously and with the recent fat trimming in the company it seems to make sense that he would be gone.
Zach Brown: Wow I feel bad for Sandman. Surprisingly, I heard that up until the point that Sandman was fired, he was pretty much a model employee. Wow I never thought that I would write those words on paper…But maybe it's best for Sandman that he be released. I mean did you SEE his match on RAW? He almost killed himself at least twice during the match! It was so hilarious to see how drunk/ungraceful he is in the ring. He'll be missed, but at least we won't have to see him break his neck on live TV.
Topic #3 We found out on RAW this past week that Hornswoggle was Vince's bastard son, what does this all mean?
David Martell: We all know that Kennedy was suppose to be the bastard son of Vince and I really feel that Hornswoggle as Vince's son is just a ploy till Kennedy gets off of his suspension. I really feel bad for Kennedy because that really was his night. They were in his home town, the crowd was hot for him even though he wasn't there and this was going to be his moment in the spot light. I am sure we are going to see several comedic backstage skits with Vince and Little Bastard but when its all said and done, Kennedy will still be a big part of this storyline.
Alex Mattis: Little Bastard, get it? Eh seems like a blow off. They just threw something together at the last minute since Kennedy was gone. I hope this whole Angle just fades away, we'll see. It's too bad, as it could have been a big thing for Kennedy.
Zach Brown: Umm…declaring Hornswoggle the bastard son was clearly a cop out because they couldn't use Mr. Kennedy as the real bastard son. I'm almost glad Hornswoggle was announced as the son because I wasn't going to be happy with any result if it were an actual wrestler. With the whole Signature Pharmacy scandal, I'm sure they were just looking for a way out of the storyline. I'm glad they ended it early though and without an ending that would have taken them someplace in terms of actual matches. In my opinion, the bastard son storyline was one of the worst storylines in the WWE in recent memory. I'm glad they chose an easy way out.
Topic #4 Brian Danielson is making his return to the ring after his eye injury at the new ROH PPV tapings, what do you think of this?
David Martell: It is defiantly great to have Brian Danielson back in the ring. Hopefully, he can continue on the path he was going and claim those titles that he was meant to have, cough, cough, the NWA World Title.
Alex Mattis: Well I don't know if I psyched that his first match back is against the guy that put him out. But hey, he may win his ROH world title back. Morishima has improved in front of our eyes in ROH and his title reign is beginning to come full circle. And Danielson has to work really hard to have a bad match. I have yet to see their first encounter, but based on the reviews and what I know of the men this should be a classic bout. Chicago for some reason has a way of producing the best out of ROH, and I think this will be no exception.
Zach Brown: PLEASE win the NWA title Danielson! American Dragon is the rightful owner of that title and everyone knows it. We've been talking about this for the past few weeks now and everyone knows how I feel. I'm glad his eye is better, and now it's time for him to claim the NWA strap. No questions asked.
Topic #5 At TNA's No Surrender PPV we ended up with Team Pacman as the new TNA tag champs and Jay Lethal as the new X Division champ, what do you think of these title changes?
David Martell: I absolutely hate that Pacman Jones is a champion. What the hell is wrong with you TNA? I hope AJ and Tomko kill them at Bound for Glory. On the other hand, Jay Lethal as the new X Division champion is awesome. What's so great about this is the fact that he went over Angle clean. This not only makes Jay Lethal look good but it also makes the X Division look good. Great job TNA!
Alex Mattis: Pacman a tag champ? Well he did do a lot of work for it. Ugh. Other than that I was very happy to see Jay Lethal win the X-Division title, AND he went over Angle clean. Could this be a good sign for the X-Division? The world title didn't change hands but it did look good in the main event. It showed that Angle is killer and will do what it takes to hold on to that belt, and Abyss showed that he would damn near risk life and limb for the strap.
Zach Brown: I'm glad Angle lost the Tag and the X-Division titles. I'm fine with him holding on to the Heavyweight title. That's cool with me. He is one of the best wrestlers on the planet after all. But yeah, those other belts on Angle were just too much. I'm glad that Machismo won the strap because he's hilarious, talented, and way over. Team Pacman is a joke, but if it's one step closer for either Triple X, LAX, or Sabin and Shelley to hold the titles, then it's all good.
Topic #6 Booker T recently quit the WWE, what are your thoughts?
David Martell: This was an absolute shock for me because I thought that the WWE and Booker T was on good terms. I always thought of Booker T as one of those WWE guys who would never leave. This is a sad loss for the WWE but I don't blame the WWE for losing him. The E suspended Booker for the Signature Pharmacy scandal and it was rightly deserved. At least Booker T still has his indy promotion. I wouldn't be surprised if Booker came back to the WWE within the year.
Alex Mattis: Quite a loss for the E. Not just a loss of a top heel and wrestler, but loss of a mentor. Booker could have become a great agent for the company. But he has his own wrestling company down in Houston so I assume that went through his mind when he quit, gives him more time to focus on his business. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see him back, but for the time being it's too bad that the last thing he did was get squashed by HHHitler.
Zach Brown: Now this is a real tragedy in the world of wrestling. I still can't wrap my head around it. It REALLY sucks that Booker is gone. I mean…maybe it was a way for him to keep his pride or something when the Signature Pharmacy thing broke. But the King Booker gimmick was golden, and Booker had a solid ten more years that he could have wrestled in the WWE. It just really sucks for all the fans. He was really getting a push too. They just moved him back over to RAW, and King Booker was thoroughly entertaining in and out of the ring. It's just sad that Booker couldn't have waited out the two-month suspension like everyone else. Quitting over something like this is probably a sign that Booker was fed up with the company anyways. But who knows? It just sucks all around.
Once again thanks for reading! We are planning to have a Joey Ryan interview on the next column so look out for it. Peace! If you want to send us your thoughts or comments send them to triplethreatcolumn@yahoo.com
Im shocked at The Sandmans release, I mean he's not only The Extreme Icon, he's mine and many others icon, but after reading on another answer to the same quistion, apparently he wanted to be releaset and he got what he wanted, if that be the case then im happy for him, if not and he was fired, ill find & kill the man held responsible!!!
