411’s ECW Rankings 10.12.07
Posted by Larry Csonka on 10.12.2007

Special thanks to THE WIFE for her awesome graphics and contributions to the column.

The Criteria:
The Csonka Commission will try to use a formula of some of, if not all of the following to determine the rankings:
-Wins and Losses
-Popularity
-Shoe Size
-Strength of Schedule
-Golf Handicap
-Championship Pedigree
-Defeating Champions in Non-Title Affairs
-Christi's assessment of their ring gear
-If you are named #1 Contender by the Promotion

CHAMPION: CM Punk
Championship Won: September 4th
Defenses: - V. Elijah Burke 9.16.07
V. Big Daddy V 10.07.07

  • The Contenders:
#11. Big Daddy V - Last Ranked: 1st Big Daddy V shockingly won the Chase to No Mercy as ECW Dictator Armando Estrada added him as a late entrant in the tournament, after Tommy Dreamer had survived and defeated Elijah Burke. Big Daddy V went onto No Mercy where he looked to gain the ECW title, but was Disqualified when Matt Striker attacked CM Punk, causing said Disqualification. He is still undefeated, including another victory over Tommy Dreamer this past week on ECW TV. Add to that the fact that he is one of the choices on the Cyber Sunday Ballot and he retains his #1 position.

#22. John Morrison - Last Ranked: 3rd The Tuesday Night Delight made his valiant return this Tuesday night, and right away he put ECW Champion CM Punk on notice in their non-title match. Morrison showed no signs of ring rust as he used and abused the injured ribs of CM Punk on way to a very strong victory for the former ECW Champion. Add to that the fact that he is one of the choices on the Cyber Sunday Ballot and he rises to the 2nd overall spot this week.

#33. Tommy Dreamer - Last Ranked: 4th While Tommy Dreamer is on a two match losing streak, he rises from the 4th spot this week to jump into the top three. His run in the elimination chase was an impressive one as he outlives Richards and Thorn, and then captured a great win over Elijah Burke. Big Daddy V may have ruined his party two weeks in a row, but the ECW original has shown that he has a lot of life left in him, and if some of the young bucks don't watch out, they could find themselves staring at the lights. Just ask young Elijah.

#44. The Miz - Last Ranked: 6th The Miz is the man that makes the biggest move upwards as he climbs from 6th place to 4th place. His feud with Balls Mahoney has provided him a lot of airtime, and he recently scored a win (via count out) over go old captain caveman. He also owns the managerial contract to the Extreme Expose, so he's doing well for himself. Add to that the fact that he is one of the choices on the Cyber Sunday Ballot and he is going the right direction.

#55. Elijah Burke - Last Ranked:2nd While the Miz took the big leap of the week, young Elijah Burke took the big fall of the week from #2 to #5. Burke took the loss in the finals of the Elimination chase, and then followed that up by doing…nothing. He wasn't on the show this week and that really hurt his chances of ranking better. It would also help if he could find his way to the right Springfield, but what can you do?

#66. Kevin Thorn - Last Ranked: 5th Kevin Thorn is on the downturn this time around as well. While he survived stage one of the elimination chase to No Mercy, he was eliminated in the second stage of that tournament. Thorn was back this week on ECW TV, and while he got the win he had more of a hard time with young James Curtis than most would have anticipated. Thorn will be looking to improve in the coming weeks, but with Morrison back and the Miz now figured into the title mix he'll have to do a lot to make a major jump in these rankings.

#77. Balls Mahoney - Last Ranked: 8th While Balls Mahoney is not lighting the win column of fire, the lovable captain caveman is causing quite the hassle for the Miz as he quests for the heart of Kelly Kelly. The Miz maybe looking for a shot at the ECW Title, but he better be careful because if he looks past this ECW Original he could be in a world of trouble.

#88. The Boogey Man- Last Ranked: 7th After losing to Big Daddy V the Boogey Man has disappeared from the ECW scene. Obviously the strange man from parts unknown suffered more severe injuries than anyone thought and is off ingesting a high protein and worm diet in hopes of returning the ECW stage. When and if he does, he has a lot of work ahead of him to climb back to the top of the rankings.

#99. Mike Knox- Last Ranked: 10th Mike Knox returned from nowhere before the last rankings came out and debuted at the bottom of the list. He moves up this time around with a strong victory over Nunzio and a very good effort against CM Punk recently. Efforts like this along with more hard work could see Knox move up the rankings as the month goes on.

#1010. Stevie Richards - Last Ranked: 9th Stevie Richards now moves to the bottom of the ECW Rankings. Stevie had the unfortunate honor of being the first man out of the elimination chase to No Mercy and since then has disappeared from the ECW Map. Word on the street is that he has stolen Kevin the Vampire's child and taken the boy to an alternate universe, which would explain his absence from ECW TV.

  • WWE NO MERCY PODCAST~!

We are back for another podcast adventure! This time we break down the WWE No Mercy PPV, which provided three WWE Title Matches and well, three WWE Champions. We saw some of the same from WWE, as in DQ's in title matches and non-finishes on PPV along with TV skits; but also saw some thinking outside the box when it came to the WWE title situation. The main event delivered and Jim Ross showed everyone why no one is better than calling the big match than he is! We then move onto Dear Christi, in which the wife sets the record straight to get the heat off of me and close out with discussion of THE GAMEPLAN~! An hour of fun just for you!
